Anyone using Simple Mobile on the Note2? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Looking for the apn settings for simple mobile that has working data and mms. I have tried all the apps in the play store. (tweaker, simple mobile data, etc) I have even used other apn settings I have found. I can send pictures but can't receive. I have data, calls and everything else. But for the life of me I can't find the apn for simple mobile that has fully working data and mms.

Name SIMPLE Mobile
Apn simple
Mmsc http://smpl.mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Mcc 310
Mnc260
Try that

Thanks for the reply but that's the same apn from the simple mobile data app, and unfortunately it doesn't work.

why simple mobile?
I couldn't begin to tell you why yours isn't working, I used the settings for APN that are on the simple mobile web site, worked fine in my t-mobile note 2. I'd use simply mobile except for the fact they just shut off your data when you reach 2 gig, no slowdown, throttling, just bam, it's shut off.

You can either call Simple Mobile and get a micro sim or find someone in your area that cuts sim cards. You can also order a cutter on ebay for like 5 bucks and they usually give you a couple of adapters to use it in a full size sim slot.

Just put smaller sim on top of bigger sim, trace it, then slowly cut it with scissors until it fits.
If you take your time and be carefull it will work just fine. That's what I did because Tmob wanted to charge me $20 for new micro sim. Been using it for one year without problems.

How do I delete the T-Mobile APN [I already have ROOT]?

Hi everyone,
I just rooted my phone using mrRobinsons No-Counter-Tipping method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687). I still can't seem to DELETE the stock T-Mobile APN, and I need to delete to get on SIMPLE MOBILE's data network.
Please help me if you know how to do this. Thanks.
I may be wrong, but I don't think you would need to delete it. I believe that you would have the option to select T- Mobile or Simple Mobile. Check the Simple Mobile box and you should be good to go. Hopefully this helps you. I'm not 100% sure since I've never had to switch carriers or APN's.

On(in) the apn screen, hit menu, add apn, fill in the blanks (I don't use Simple Mobile so I do not know the correct settings) and then save (or, menu> save) and when back at the apn screen tap the radio button next to Simple Mobile.

Thanks for the reply everyone, but on my HD2 I did add the SIMPLE Mobile APN WITHOUT deleting the T-mobile one, and it didn't connect to the 3g/4g network. Once I deleted the T-Mobile APN (as the instructions say to do per Simple Mobiles website) it worked fine.
Now that I'm using my S3, I tried just adding Simple Mobile, and that Does NOT work. I recently found an app that allowed me to change/delete the T-Mobile APN (APN Manager), but maybe that didn't complete delete it, otherwise something else isn't working correctly.
Is there anybody that is using SIMPLE Mobile on their Galaxy S3 (T999)????????

I just did it this morning. Added the new APN then selected the radio button (to the right of the name of the APN in the list). I was getting an average of 15 Mbps down.
My phone is unlocked, but it's never been a problem with any Android phone I've used.

Your phone is SIM Unlocked? Is it Rooted? I'm just trying to get my setting working, and stock (out of the box), the settings for SIMPLE Mobile didn't work (I restarted and everything just as the instructions say). The T-Mobile APN was still there.
Please let me know exactly what you did so that I can try and make it work for me. Thanks.
EDIT: One other thing. I have the $40 SIMPLE Mobile Plan (which was working fine on my HD2) with unlimited 3g data. What plan do you have? Do you think that would affect it?
im pretty sure u need to go to mobile networks/network operators/default setup and choose manual before attemtping to do your add apn.

I think this may have done the trick. I also think the connection is acting differently since I'm on this phone (with this stock ROM) compared to my HD2 (with CM9 ROM created by Tytung). So deleting the APN made it find the SIMPLE Mobile network, where manually setting this one made it so I didn't need to delete the APN.
Thanks.
Closely related issue - Please Help!
Your issue is closely related to something I'm trying to do, but unsuccessfully. I also have a T-Mobile andriod phone (galaxy) and I've recently switched to Net10 Wireless. The service is excellent and everything works great on the data side. However, I can't delete the T-Mobile APN and it keeps switching back to it randomly even though I've selected the radio box next to Net10's APN. It will work for period of time and then stop and I'll go back in to the APN settings, and sure enough, it has switched back to T-Mobile. It doesn't give me an option to delete this APN, only the one I added.
Any thoughts anyone?
Thank you!

I have a pantech pocket that I just got and I am using it on my new unlock straight talk plan...I am very technology challenged when it comes to this stuff. The pamplet that came with my new micro sim card for straight talk said that I need to change the APN settings and it lists what I need to put in it's place. However, whenever I go into "mobile networks" and try to change my APN settings, I can't. They are shaded and when I touch them they don't react at all. I can't change them at all! So, how would I go about choosing manual in the default setup? I am sorry...I just don't know where I would even find any of that at. Super confused

I don't know if anyone will ever read this, but simple trick:
You're right in that when you just add a Custom APN and select it (on any phone I've had), it won't remember your selection. It'll either keep selecting the Default APN, or neither.
What's always worked for me, is to create a 2nd one and name it "DONT USE" or "Dummy APN" and "Save" it (Menu).
Then create a 3rd one and set that one up the way you want/need and Save it, then select it.
Let the phone run for a minute and make sure your Mobile Data works (go to Google.com). Then Reboot and wait until it finishes booting up (2-3 minutes from when you see the Home Screen) and then go check it and your Custom APN should be selected.
Your Carrier may have instructed you to Delete the original one, but it can't be done from the phone's APN screen anyway. They never bothered trying it, trust me.

Please help - 4G issues - AT&T S3

So I am now on my second replacement phone. With the first phone my proximity sensor and brightness sensor wasn't working, now I believe I may have radio issues.
I have been searching and have seen mostly wifi issues but no 4G issues. I'm experiencing both and nothing here seems to help.
With my 4G ( LTE here yet) it will say it's connected with 3 or 4 bars but will not pull or push data. The 4G icon gets to work but the browser sends back an error saying that it's not connected when I of course have decent service and can still text and call. Of course turning wifi on fixes the issues but then the wifi continues to disconnect and reconnect etc.
It does this on stock, and the insomnia rom.
I've tried flashing the different official radios also with no luck.
I've dealt with different tiers of AT&T technical support twice for the replacement and current, they said my imei number was incorrect (for both) and a few settings since I ported from T-Mobile (They even entered my phone number wrong during the porting at AT&T), the AT&T guy did a few things over the phone and it sped up my data which was incredibly slow at first but still had the random connected no push pull data issue which requires me to restart my phone or when that doesn't work a battery pull. This happens multiple times throughout the day.
Also no service outages in my area as said by AT&T They will call me back tomorrow to waste another 3 hours of my day with worthless troubleshooting.
Should I go back to AT&T label this as another DoA and try another S3 device?
Is there a simple fix?
Could someone point me in the right direction please!
I'm still in my 30 day return period and if the quality of experience doesn't improve for me with AT&T I would like to just get the T-Mobile version, I don't have much time left though so please help!
Thanks,
Mars
Seems to be data issues that involve flashing ROMs.
Did lte work before you flash and rooted the gs3

Well I flashed my a rom on to my S3 for the first time today to see if it would help but it seemed to make things worse and when I did get data to finally work it was very slow So i switched back to stock. This was even happening a bit before I rooted

just received my replacement and the phone is functioning correctly. They gave me a new sim card also. The phone is noticeably faster data as well basic usage. Will report back. Not sure if it was the phone or my SIM though
I had the same issue.. I could talk and text but no data. I called customer service and the guy noticed I didn't use the lte SIM that came with the phone. Apparently you MUST use the lte SIM! Hope this helps!

did you have no data? or would you have random hang ups.. like it shows that you have 4G but it doesn't push or pull data?
Have you tried APN settings
Have you tried adjusting your APN settings? It can be an issue more so when flashing ROMS. I had that issue as well when I first got my phone.... Most of the time they will set by default but sometimes...not nav to settings>more settings>mobile networks>access point names and set it with these settings
Name: AT&T PTA
APN: pta
MMSC: h*t*t*p://mmsc.mobile.att.net***
MMS proxy: ***proxy.mobile.att.net***
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: internet+mms
Take out the *** under MMSC and MMS, Im new to posting and they wont let me post what they think is an outside link, leave everything else as is/blank and see if that helps.
Also if your not on stock rom try fixing premissions in CWM
on APN type: I've got this: default, supl, mms . I don't have 'internet'. I've also seen 'hipri' in APN settings before, on my older devices I had rooted and flashed (running stock ATM, just got the phone a couple days ago and trying to see how much I actually used root).
Default, supl, mms is actually fine... that should be a working APN I just saw someone had internet+mms and could not change it so wanted to make sure. When you rooted did you flash a recovery like CWM?

[Q] Note 2 7105 Roaming problem

Hi!, me and my wife both have LTE Note 2's and we love them!.
But my wifes Note has been wierd the last week or so, we live in Denmark and our provider is Telia, therefore roaming costs money!, and should only activate when we cross the border to germany etc.
The phone think its roaming even when there is EDGE/3G coverage in my livingroom!? .
You can see my problem in the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGLfEuAXvEI
Btw. MY phone have no roaming problem, and never had.
my wife is ready to get rid of the phone because of this problem, and i really dont want to see that happening.
Hi,
Can't see from the video but did you check the active APN?
Here in France we have a couple of Virtual Network Operators buying air time from one of the "real" network operators. So basically we have a lot of different APNs for same MCC & MNC. Sometimes the bad APN gets selected resulting in roaming.

go to SETTINGS, under WIRELESS and NETWORKS select MORE SETTINGS then MOBILE NETWORK then DATA ROAMING go to NETWORK OPERATORS and search for your network carrier just to be sure..if it's still a problem maybe try another SIM card or take your phone to your operators customer care...because this is definitely not a phone issue.....
alternatively you can backup all the data of the phone and do a factory reset just incase it's some hidden settings causing this within the phone

You are thinking of VPN here right?
I was referring to the Access Point Names that can be found under Settings / More Settings / Mobile Networks. Go there and have a look which ones are listed and, most importantly, which one is selected.

Will it roam after a factory reset using your own SIM card (not your wife's card)?

Rowbaggie is correct, when you put a sim card into a phone, there are 2 processes during this time
1) handset check the network and perform LU ( location update)
2) if it succeed, then it will pull out all profile details. the SIM card by default would have the postpaid, prepaid 3G, 4G APN in it.
by default network will automate append this APN so user does not have to set it ( unlike wap services)
my guess is that your APN got screwed up, you can go to your service provider website and check for the correct APN to use.
Or call them up.
By the way, APN is also known as Access point in 802.xx. in 3GPP standard it is call APN.
Thanks guys...but my api settings are correct. 3G and 4G works fine.

are you able to try this sim on the 3G/4G slot?
lets test it out to eliminate sim slot failing.
perform single sim one 2G first
then perform single sim on 3G/4G
post the result,
next try to put Sim A to 3G/4G and sim B to 2G slot
flip the case and post result.
sound like sim card is not attached to network properly. could be sim loose from slot. i can be wrong.

Editing APN to hide your tethering usage

This was easily done on Sprint with the note 8 and s8 with Quick short cut maker app and editing LATE APN settings by adding the value DUN. It would essentially allow you to by pass the 10 gig 4g limit on your hotspot plan by tricking the carrier into thinking your using the phone for normal usage. Is there a way to do this on Verizon? Quick short cut maker doesn't work on Verizon, when I inserted the Sim it must of locked the APN settings when I converted over from Sprint.
bump, this would be extremely useful for us who tether if anyone has an answer/idea. I've experimented with VPN and have been unsuccessful in circumventing throttle.
Any luck with this?

I am interested in this too. Although I am running a mxpe, I have tried several things including the net.tether.noprovisioning=true edit to build.prop, the global dun=0 through adb shell, VPN's, and FoxFi. Nothing has worked as of lately. FoxFi had been working up until about 2 months ago, but apparently Verizon changed something and that no longer works (according to the folks at PDA Net). The only other thing I can think of is changing APN settings. It appears I can easily change these in my mxpe, but does anyone know which APN is used for tethering and which is used for normal phone usage? Does Verizon even use different APN's for the purpose of tracking tethering usage?
