Got 8779 Update on my ATT Lumia 900!

Using the Nokia Care suite and SuperSport's ROM flash guide I found an update on the Nokia Care Suite Servers specific for ATT Cyan Lumia 900. I can use the Nokia Counters app and flip to silence! However, it did completely wipe my phone.

That's the only thing I don't like about NCS is you are pretty much hard resetting. Also, using a different ROM than your original might "walsh" the phone - so anytime you want to update, you have to flash via NCS all over again (Zune will no longer detect updates for your phone). That's why I'm using NCS just to monitor upcoming updates, but content to wait for the Zune. Nice thing is my product code is for SmarTone in Hong Kong (unlocked) so I don't have to wait for T-Mobile or AT&T to **** around with it. Seems like SmarTone released the Tango ROM immediately after it was available. Trade off is no warranty..
All that said, I actually did voluntarily hard reset last week - instead of being content with an Outllook.com alias, I decided to go full bore and just rename my account to the new format.. Hopefully that will be the last for awhile!

Ah, hmm, if you forced the update, then you probably don't have updated firmware. The only reason I'm asking about ATT is because when they release an official update, they usually include an updated firmware to fix kinks and general performance enhancements
Scratch the above: Didn't realize nokia put the actual ATT update on their servers...looks like it's going to be pretty close! Have you noticed any enhancements to like touchscreen sensitivity or camera?

I have noticed that the capacitive buttons stay on whenever the screen is. Personally I liked it better before, but its not a huge deal. Flip to silence works great, and I have noticed that whenever I press and hold the camera button when the screen is off, it works EVERY TIME. Before it only worked sometimes. I did get new firmware as well. I have never felt that the phone was laggy, and that hasn't changed.

Do the volume buttons work when music is playing and the screen is off?

My belief was that the Nokia Care Suite ROMs were in fact the OEM ROMs. Am I wrong there? I thought they were exactly what ATT was pushing out, but that you were just manually updating ahead of ATT's schedule, so the Zune update should continue to work. Again, am I wrong? I don't have my Lumia anymore, so cannot test the theory.

Your understanding is correct. Zune accurately detects the update status just fine. Presently gives me the option of rolling back to my previous back-up 8112.
The only bump I ran into was post-install driver conflict. Zune couldn't detect the storage level (how much of the 16gb was allocated to music, etc.). Removing NCS AND the Nokia USB drivers (x86 and x64 if present), rebooting the machine did the trick.

It looks like Nokia has released the 900 update to North America now - I can't tell if this includes ATT yet though.

well, the update is now live on zune so you should be able to download it through the Windows Phone Connector app for mac. I would post a link, but it wont let me since im a newb. just bing: how to update nokia lumia on mac . it shouldn't wipe your phone. Enjoy.

edited, only received one update for my rogers Lumia 900

Total of three updates for AT&T: 8773, 8779 and Nokia firmware: 2175.2301.8779.12223. The radio was also updated to: 2.1.75.22.

For Macs you have to use Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac

One of my biggest issues was clearly fixed by the new ROM/firmware: the volume used to not change under ~10, so you couldn't get the phone volume low enough to hear it in a quiet room without everyone else hearing it, too. Now the volume works as expected: 1 is now a nice, hushed volume level.
Camera seems to launch perfectly from the lock screen now, camera is improved, especially in shutter time.
Net-net, my 900 now seems to work as nicely as my 800 in all capacities, which could not be said before.

unfortunately the updates still have not fixed the microcell battery drain problem

I recently bought this 80g9 8gb
at start the usb worked very well.
now whrn I want to connect my 3g stick - the light is blinking, but nothing more happens u the same is for external hdd - light comes on but I cant view the files. usb debug mode is turned on..
I don't kbow what else to add - but if any1 can help me with this - please help
P.S. - I also tried the ''reset android'' and '' full reinitialization ''

Which Firmwareversion? Which 3g stick? Did you try to connect a camera on the USB 3g port?

tablets firmware is 4.0.6 (Android 4.0.3)
the 3G key is -- G93G-2AA2FR3

Hi There
I assume you're connecting to the Full Size USB Port at the back of the device. It sounds like you've got damaged "Data Tracks" on the internal connection, It's unfortunately not a particularly uncommon problem. I've just had a second one fail on me!
Here's a post with a similar, if not the same problem. If you're inclined to do a bit of hardware hacking you can fix it yourself, This Archos Fans Post explains the issue and shows a fix ( with pictures ). However If you've only just bought it I'd probably just return it and in all honesty, as a general consumer, upon returning it I'd probably get something different. Which is a unfortunate recommendation because they're not bad devices just kind of let down by their build quality.

pc wont find my gs3?? hardwear id not found??

Hello I just traded my evo 4g lte for the gs3!! im super happy but I installed the drivers and still when I plug the phone into my pc its says hardwear id not found.. windows cant find bla bla.. Im new to samsung how can i fix this?? Did I get burnt? Thanks ok this is what it says.. Hardwear id missing.. Windows cannot id the device plugged into the samsung mobile usb composite device? Hi, I had a similar problem where my gs3 wouldn't show up as an mtp device on my win 7 laptop even tho it had b4 & even after going thru the whole driver reinstall process.
I almost gave up after googling the hell out of this issue, but then I happened upon a post somewhere recommending to shut the phone down, pull the battery out, & then replace it/turn it back on.
Alas, this did the trick. Don't know what caused it or why this worked but it wasn't just dumb luck, it fixed the problem.

Hi i bought from ebay GT-N7100
seler said is genuine,but if i press volume down+home,power i never get to download mode no matter if is phone on or off,when is phone off i can get just to factory mode
when instead press volume up i can get just to recovery mode-not download mode i root phone with unlockrootpro
checker showed i have acess to root,mean is rooted,
other question is i have no menu in systems setting like a -s-pen,motion,sound, why??cos i have os 4.1.1???
posible upgrade to 4.1.2 without download mode?
phone is unlocked i use t-mobile
thanx for any help

Your score is high enough. Phone structure is also totally identical. Imei number also seems real.. Just go and check your imei here http://www.imei.info/

hey mate..you can check through kies..just connect your phone to pc and open kies..if your phone is a clone,kies can't detect your phone firmware...and i think the space between home button and screen is little weird there..the home button should not too far from screen.

Yes kies can't detect phone.but can't be problem with usb?

well call up the samsung customer care and they will let u know just verify the imei with them or go to Samsung service and tell them that your phone is hangig a bit and u want the firmware to be updated so they will let you know the details too ifit happens to be fake they reject the service :silly:

well if you think your usb is broken then you can follow shhbz suggestion..bring your phone to service center and ask the staff to check your phone.:good:

yeah there is only a narrow gap between the home button and the screen. yours has almost double the space.

I don't have a note, but I've never seen "audio profiles" as an option in the settings in touchwiz, its always been labeled as "sound".

100% that's an imitation phone. The bezels are way too big, the home button position is wrong, it's way off. There was another guy on here a while back that also had one that looked exactly like that imitation, so they're probably quite widespread.

Yes, he can lie, and someone not want to tell You about security. He can Think You want misuse to double phone.
In every way, I never buy phone, If I not know the IMEI before, so if seller not want tell me whatever reason, I DON´T buy.

Can't Sign in to Windows Marketplace account

Hi everyone!
I'm not a new visitor here but posting for the first time.
Recently I got my hands on Nokia Lumia 710. I updated it to WM 7.8 and it was great. Kept using it for few days until I needed to capture my screen on Lumia 710 but I couldn't find any program/feature. I felt really disappointed. But today I gathered some nerve to unlock my device and did it successfully using Nokia Lumia 710 - A Layman's guide to install CUSTOM ROM posted by psquicker.
I successfully unlocked my device and can now use several different features.
Unfortunately came up with the problem that I cannot sign in to my Windows Marketplace account with my Windows Live ID. Can't even sign in to my Windows Live/Hotmail account under Email Accounts settings.
Error it shows, says:
Activation failed
We were trying to activate your phone without troubling you about it, but something went wrong, so we need some more information before we can continue. Tap Close and we'll explain.
When I click Close, it asks me to call Support.
The same error appears anywhere I try to sign in.
Note that I was using all the Windows services normally before unlocking the device.
Screenshots are attached.
Help will be appreciated.

contact with Microsoft Live support ( Live chat with MS) .. ask activation code ... i to had same problem... not its solved ...
don't tell about your custom rom... just say your mobile need activation code...
Note : keep that code for future... whenever you hard reset your phone or flash ROM it ll ask again...
