Is it bad to charge my Xperia S too much? - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

I am a heavy user of android playing games and such. Therefore, the battery drops down to 20 in nearly an hour and a half. I end up charging the battery 4-5 times a day. Is this bad? Can I improve battery life in anyway?

No it's not bad. and post questions in the Q/A section from next time please.

To improve battery life don't play so much games.
Sent from my Xperia S using xda app-developers app

What on earth are you playing all day? That just sounds excessive.

Xperia S's battery is pretty bad, while playing a game it drops by 1 percent for every minutes played.

Just charge it. That's the point in it
Sent from my 4.2.2 Xperia S via Tapatalk

80% battery draw in 90 minutes of usage what the hell are you playing bro lol

If you want more charge, just change the battery
And... Yep, S battery is awful!
Sent from my LT26ii using Tapatalk 2

It's not just this game, but every game, try Xperia s for yourself!

You can charge your phone, no problem. I read somewhere that even Sony said that is fine to charge the phone everyday.

I double that.
It's written on Sony Xperia Care website.
So, no problem dude, just do not use the phone while it's being charged.

Nothing, while you are using phone during charging you are charging your phone. You can do.everything with your phone. But better if you use EP850(1500mA) while using it instead of standard charger (850 or 550mA)

I think it's pretty normal. 35c is also the temperature of your hand(well 37 actually)
get a good sd card class 10 may solve the heat problem

Why? What has the SD to do with heat?
@ OP:
Sometimes mine is almost too hot to touch near the camera when using heavy CPU tasks + HSDPA, so yours is fine.

Do you mean the CPU temperature? The Arc don't have a temperature sensor on the CPU. You only can see the battery temperature.
I downloaded an app to improve battery life... It just made my battery temperature go up to 65 degrees Celsius... I removed that app fast as..... And week never use it again... My telephone still works
Sent from my LT18i using XDA
Not all the apps give a correct temperature value. Onetime I used a app that told me that my battery was 95 Celsius, but that was a bad value, haha. When u use my phone a lot, the battery temperature goes to 35 Celsius, but that's normal.
It´s normal.. I´ve 35º too..
arc s getting really hard
hi there
I bought my arc s about a month ago,its getting very very hot when using wifi for less than 10min,playing game makes similar effect.
i change baseband, kernel, using gingerbread and ics, set cpu to 600Ghz,removing sd card and everything, but nothing solve the problem
its very annoying when using Viber and other application to talk, its very hard that i can't place phone near my ear...
is there any solution except buying another phone

First off all, you can volume down the noise from a phone. But gets the phone hot to on stock? Are the voltages set good? Maybe is undervolting a option for you?
My arc is clocked to 1.4Ghz and it runs perfectly even when running games with wifi and bluetooth on playing through a mw600 and mn800 liveview

How long does it take for a full charge? [Culprit: Bad USB cable]

Well I need to know from you guys, it's not that I don't know, but need to reconfirm. I think mine is taking much lower now than it was. A full charge, say from 5% to 100%, with Stock charger?
Thanks in adv.

roughly 1 percent for 1 minute. should be charged in a couple of hours

Charging from 0 to 90% happens in no more that 2 hours I would say. from 90% to 100% the charging rate gets slowed a lot. So basically shouldn't take more than 2:30 hours from 0 to 100%.
Thanks guys. Now I remember it was 2 hours 45 mins for me too at first.
Today it took 4 hrs 30 mins. Reason? I'll say tomorrow, after confirming.

I rarely charge it to 100%, usually to 70 or 80%. much better for the battery in the long term

you are welcome. the general rule is to try to 1) avoid charging to 100%, really diminishing return the higher it goes; and 2) avoid deep discharge cycle. I usually use 40% of the capacity at work everyday, so charge to ~70% in the morning, use down to ~30% and then charge again. charging time in this range is rather linear, about 1 percent a minute

Yeah, it happened to mine too few days back. My Note2 went crazy, taking around 7-8 hrs to fully charge from 15%. So, i tried searching about the problem on google but to no avail. Did a factory reset with cache wipe and problem solved :good:. Now it takes about 2.5 hrs to fully charge from say 10% (using the samsung wall charger with phone switched on). I can only say that the slow charging was caused due to some software but don't know exactly which one? You may as well try the hard reset if anything else doesn't work out .
P.S : Btw i'm on stock fw with no root or mod! Only did some OTA updates couple of weeks ago.
Guys, we have a changeable battery and is already writed Inside to android that it won't charge to 100%, it just shows at 100% but really it is at 95%-98% that feature came with 2.2.1 update 2yrs ago.
And we can change the battery after 2yrs for 20-30$, unlike Nokia lumia users or HTC one x or iPhone users.

Yeah, thanks. But if you've Watchdog installed then you can see which app is going over threshold and keep running on background. And yes, this time, again, the culprit was PowerAMP! Uninstalled it and voila. The same app created problem for me when I had my S2, charging was pathetically slow, even I had to go to SC and they said battery is gone. But I didn't believe and asked a techy friend and he said it might be some app, and damn right he was.
Anyway, if anyone having the same issue like mine, that is, charging duration has increased with Stock charger, then install Watchdog (the lite version will do) and see who is the culprit.
I have no idea how a top app like PowerAMP could cause this! Jeez!

Battery Issues

Hello;
I've been an owner for galaxy ace 2 for 4 months now. My battery would last me 5 days until reaching 40%, then I would recharge fully without letting it go under 40% any time. My problem now is since 2 weeks my battery is only lasting me for 2 days (reaching 40%), the phone is still on stock and no applications were downloaded. I am just using it for frequent phone calls and maybe 5 minutes wifi for the whole day using "what's up". So what do you think going on?, I tried shutting off the phone and removing the battery, but that didn't help.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards.
5days is a dream me for example have to recharge battery every evening and many others too i think it's not that big problem just recharge evey ssncond day over night and no problems

Why does everyone still complain about battery life?
Every battery is different and how much it lasts depends on how you use the phone. Nowadays you shouldn't expect more than 24 full hours of usage from 1500mAh batteries, even on lower power-hungry devices like ours (not really, dual core).
It all depends on how you use the phone and how you recharge it: remember that Li-Ion batteries lower their capacity if discharged really deep and prefer being recharged frequently.
Very often, battery drain are caused by wakelock or triggers.
I'm using wakelock detector and cpu spy to diagnose.
With Cpu Spy you can see if your phone is realy going to deep sleep.
With Wakelock detector (or better battery stats) you can see what app is causing wakelock (preventing going to deep sleep) or triggers (events that wake up the phone to often).
Big consumers are some widgets, facebook app, Google Hangout, Google Now... some parameters in google maps...
Even if you don't install something new, you can received an update on something old, update that change the behavior of an app...
EDIT: 5 days ! a dream for me. Two days and I'm happy
Dude if i use my ace 2 for just browsing the internet 4 hours and my battery would reach 30% and i find that very reasonable.
And i read somewhere that not letting the battery discharge to at least 20% will make the battery forget its full capacity. And yes Batteries have a memory too.

NiMH and NiCd batteries suffer from the so called memory effect. Li-Ion and LiPo cells lose capacity if you deep-discharge them.

My ace 2 lasts a day of full use (wifi on, max brightness, occasional games, using facebook) and I just charge it when i get home. I never charge through the night, that would destroy the battery life completely.
Why should charging throw night destroy battery life ?
