Stock GB27 phone constantly awake - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Looks like my phone is constantly awake. How can I resolve this issue
No Google now is running. Location is turned off in Google maps. Only thing that stays on is Bluetooth. I tried to installed battery stat plus but crashes at start. I do not have root since the upgrade.

google now cards? they can be a hog. turn it off

Google now was turned off. Never turned on.
I did update the app to the latest in the play store and hopefully that solves the problem.

Did you flash gb27 no data ? Try gb27 full restore.
You can try an app called greenify and hibernate the app. Another good app is dsbatterysaver.

The reason I say full restore is I run Google now on as well as location but my phone likes to sleep
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

Thanks. Yes this was built off a full restore. I flashed back to fl24 and went up from there.
I think search is behaving better now but will know more today. I had removed all updates to seach because the settings menu would flash and I could not turn off Google now with the latest update before. I then left the factory search running. Maybe this one has an issue. So if tour running with the latest from the play store then no issues.

Large battery drain

Recently I have been having something, I am not sure what drain lots of battery with leaving no trace that I can see for wakelocking... but it IS keeping my phone awake.
Also I don't even use maps and it eats up a ton of battery wth.
Set your wifi to turn off when your screen is off.
WiFi settings > menu button> advanced> keep wifi on > never
That should help some.
Also, what is your screen on time?

That should work too. The only other way to figure out what is taking all your battery is to scour Better battery stats for rogue wake locks and such. I un installed all my user apps and am reinstalling as I use them so that I don't have a ton of extra stuff running in the background eating all my battery.

Also for note: I am on LTE because I am at school.. some of the building have really bad connection/ 1 or 2 bars LTE.
If I knew how to turn off LTE I probably would...
Also why is maps so high I don't use it.

I find LTE chews up battery. To turn it off should be settings/more settings/ mobile networks/ network mode. And then choose the one under LTE. Saves lots of battery. Also might want to disabled GPS. I looks like it is on according to pics.

Only fix is to downgrade. Or wait for Google to patch with an update.

Looks like you got a wakelock, use better battery stats to see what's causing it. That almost solid blue bar in your 2nd screen shot shows way more awake time than what your screen on time is, awake almost 80% or so of your total uptime

Could Google now location services, such as time to work cards, be causing pipe battery life?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
All that maps stuff will kill your battery, especially if you're inside where gps can't lock fast. I use autostarts to force maps to stay off unless I open them. And yes cards in google now do hit battery pretty hard as well.

Everybody is over looking Mediaserver skyrocketing to the top of the list since this MA7 update. I'm also experiencing a drop in battery. Mediaserver is the cause and u can't seem to find a fix :banghead:

Yes indeed.
The Google location services is a big user as well, but to turn it off or prevent it's autostart would hinder Google now, at least I would think so.
Good point on the media server. The battery life was better before this update, and I'm sure Google was still hogging battery life. So media server seems to be the problem... Possible.
Could one possible freeze certain apps to eliminate the drain from the media server?

Mediaserver drains battery fiercely due to a bad image file or video file......it keeps trying to read the file. The only fix that I found was to backup your sd card reformat it then add a folder at a time to make sure it doesnt get stuck scanning.

I've found that it is only the network based locating that causes this particular wakelock madness. Turn off network based location and maps behaves fine... Shame really as Google Now is coded to be broken unless Google knows what network your connected to.

I doubt it's any of my files. It never was a problem on LJC. And even now the problem is random. Comes and goes on different boots. I'm thinking maybe Samsung accounts might have to do something with it. A few days ago I noticed it updated a Samsung push service app on its own. That's why I use autostarts to disable everything unless I open it manually. Then you don't need to turn off the location services they just don't activate til YOU tell them too. They fully function just like normal only they only function when the app is in the foreground

Sorry of this question seems redundant.
So will doing this hinder Google now or any of its features?

Doing what? Disabling network-based locating, or using autostarts?
Google Now to fully function requires knowledge of what wifi network or cellular network you're connected to to...Shame really, and downright creepy.

tried it - same thing.
Well,
It's a drastic method, but it seems the galaxy series of phones is plagued with left overs in the hidden file structure.
We root and can see it, but if the devices are stock, that data sits and churns forever, causing what I believe to be, many of the device issues we can't explain.
I suggest a factory data reset, as this will reset "ALL" of the device sensors, and the data contained within the applications that use them.
It is a bit problematic to set up the device again, but if you backup any important info like e-mail etc. and do the wipe, it is pretty quick to set up again.
At least this method will tell you the condition of the sensors within the device.....g

Boot into safe mode and see if it still does it. If that's not the case, then it is a rogue app you installed.

greenify, another thread on xda. this is used to hibernate apps when youre not using them and whenever you open them, they work fine! prevents wakelocks and such
wakelock detector is good but if you can read betterbattery stats there is no use for it in my opinion

It happened to me a few weeks ago and I fixed it!
The problem is with the usb connector and not related to the phone software.
You need to take a close look at the usb connector. Take a a small pin or needle and try to push or bend the usb to the orginal position.
TAKE GOOD CARE and do it on your own risk!!!
Yet, it did work for me
I had this problem and I was on stock 4.2.2. It ended up being either my stock calendar widget or pic speed wallpaper. It went away once I uninstalled both these applications.

So went to the store to get some smokes and I used tap and pay to try to pay, knowing that the services would crash, but what happens is the payment goes through and services didn't crash. I get home and try phone to phone again. And services crash again. Any ideas?
