[Q] problem with Acer Iconia Tab A100 - Acer Iconia Tab A100

Hello all!
I'm french, sorry for my English, I use google translation :s ..
I have a problem with my Iconia Tab A100, 1 week ago in normal use (no root or another have been made, everything is original, I'm running android ics) it is blocked, then s' is on again .. But it is blocked on the acer logo white x(
The warranty is finished for 3 weeks :'(
So I decided to fix it myself. I tried to put the latest version of ics on a sd card (found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591235) and reboot in recovery mode but I get the android logo with a "!" .. When I press the menu button (the house), but the recovery menu appears impossible to select with the power button. Yellow at the bottom, there are inscriptions (see picture)
So I tried apx mode and restore with EUUs (http://vache-android.com/?dir=Tablets/A100 found here). I found my cpuid thanks to this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751978. But when I get the cpuid in EUUs it does not work x(..
My tablet is dead? There is a solution?
thanks!

Emmc is dead, sorry to say. Needs a new board.

Hard to say how much they are, if you get a new one it's more then the tablet is worth getting as a refurb, and used will likely hit the same issue pretty quickly. As it's out of warranty I would suggest selling it for parts and using that money towards something less likely to randomly die. Nexus 7 if no sd isn't a problem, galaxy tab 2, or wait for the next generations of 7" devices which is probably within the next few months.
I'm sure others can chime in on devices to get to replace it.

ok, thank you for your information. I do not think succeed in selling this unit for loose parts passing through a buyer, I must pass by a professional. Could you indicate of sites able to redeem my Iconia?
Otherwise, you know other tablets including Dolby mobile?
thank you!

[Q] Brand New Galaxy Nexus not loading/Logo boot-loop

Hey guys,, just got my new Galaxy Nexus, brand new one
Charged it to full as it said in the manual and turned in on, it got into the first 'setup' window and decided to crash, ever since it's boot-looping on the Google logo like in this video and won't do anything else.
I tried factory reset from recovery, I tried to remove battery and try again, I tried with and without SIM, same thing...
now my question is - did i get a faulty phone and i should replace it or it's something I can fix myself? Thank you
As long as there's no icon of a lock under the google logo in the first screen you see while booting, it's a production problem.
all options given to you by people around here about how to unlock it and try to fix it yourself are redicioulus in your case. When you have the phone for less than 7 or 14 days (depending on the country you life in, best way to check is by going over the shop receipt it should be mentioned all the way down. If you bought it online you got a mail) you can walk to the store and demand a new one. If they tell you that they send it to the factory point them on the law and the promises on their receipt... you have the right to give them the package back and pick a new one from the shelf with the same price.
But remember to take everything you bought (cables, earplugs, guide, the cardboard inside the box and the box itself) with you! If you don't they will tell you that you did not bring anything and have no right to pick a new one.
Just get a fresh one it's the best way for you since this problem emerged within the first few hours (and literally on it's first boot). It's most likely a production error. Waiting for a fix at the factory will cost you weeks... and many people report scratches on their screen and broken covers since the phones are not always treated nicely during their travel and fix.
Please post future news on your case here... it's a great help for people with the same problem.

Same problem but after months
Hi there,
I just had the exact same problem, with a difference : my phone had been working just fine for months. Now, impossible to get it to boot. It cycles the "Google" screen, and that's it. I found that when I hold the volume button down as I start the phone it shows "odin mode", but I do not know what it is for and it does not seem to download anything.
Any ideas?
When it happens right after you purchased the phone, it's better to bring it back to where you bought it from.
On the other hand, try this. Hope this helps.

[Q] (Q) How to find CPU ID?

Title pretty much says it, how do i find the CPU ID for my acer? It's stuck and can only get into APX mode, i need the CPU ID to restore.
Any help is appreciated.
Same here
Ive been researching this for days with NO answer. Im stuck with the green Acer logo in APX mode. Not sure how to proceed from here.
There was alot of research done on this months ago, the outcome was that acer changed their APX key lookup method and it no longer uses the true cupid (possibly an encrypted variant of it though, but either way we can't get APX because of it).
Your best bet at this point is to contact acer support, tell them that your tablet received the OTA update but after it restarted it went to a black screen and now won't start back up and see if they'll replace the motherboard under warentee.
Do some searching in this forum.. all the information I've posted above took me about 5 minutes to find using xda's search.

That is what I told Acer Support when my tablet would not boot past the Acer Logo and was stuck at Boot Verified Failed. They gave me an RMA# for it, I shipped it to Texas and 1 week later I got my tablet back with a new motherboard! It's worth a shot to contact Acer Support.

It is interesting. Whether check the APX mode works now.
The CPUID I look here: /sys/firmware/fuse/acer_cpu_id (for ICS firmware) and this firmware - EUUs_SBK_Acer_A100_1.008.05_COM_GEN1.
I, after have motherboard replacements on a tablet, the APX mode work.
If it so, at you now "unbreakable" tablet.

[Q] Acer Iconia a100 stuck on acer logo, please help asap, thank you.

Hey guys, My acer iconia tablet was working fine since I bought it, then suddenly it was lagging, crashed, then I tried turning it on, it was stuck on the acer logo. I left it there for about 10-20 minutes, and it was still there. I tried hard resetting it, holding Power+Volume down, but that only brought me to this android guy lying down with a ! sign in a red triangle. Then , I left it alone for 5 minutes trying to boot it up, and it worked, everything was fine. I tried going into an app, but it crashed again then I tried to turn it on again after an hour, and it was stuck on the android logo this time. Now, here I am trying and trying, but its just at the acer logo. My mom is going to kill me if I tell her about this, so I need to fix it asap. I would greatly appreciate it, thanks!

It can't be fixed by anyone besides Acer, it has to be sent in. If it helps, its nothing you did, acer used a known faulty memory chip and it just randomly dies. Acer will repair it for free if it's under warranty.

Good luck to you. Mine just died for the second time today. I'll be calling Acer tomorrow. I have about a month left on warranty.
Acer Tablet
And what if I don't have a warranty? Hopefully there is another way. I am assuming that if the SNID number keeps saying it's incorrect, that the warranty is run out.. I bought it from someone so I don't even think there is a warranty.

Acer doesn't really care who bought it, just its warranty period of 1 year. Incorrect means incorrect, not that warranty expired, check for typos and using like a L for a 1 or zero for O etc.
If you don't have a warranty you will need to locate and change the system board yourself or have someone do it for you. No other way, board MUST be replaced.

Dissappointed
Wow. I just entered the serial number in, and it expired a few months ago...
I cant afford to pay 100$ for a motherboard.. Im out of luck. I hate acer products -_-

[Q] Is my A100 bricked?

Can anyone help me? I installed a program called gallery refresh and it didn't seem to do anything. Then my A100 started running very slow, so I rebooted it. Now it won't come on! It goes to the ANDROID screen, and it's animated, but it just stays there forever. One time it started up after about 15 minutes but it went really slow then just froze. Now it won't boot up at all. Just the Android logo. Is my A100 bricked? I still had important information on there. Is there anything that can be done or can I save my data off the internal sd card??
Thank you.

Now it's stuck at the green "acer acer acer acer" screen. It doesn't seem to be doing anything at all.
It's worse now...
I read some instructions on another site to clear the Dalvik cache and I tried it. Now all I get when I turn on the A100 is a black screen. I think it's really bricked now.
The acer logo is back now. I accidently forgot to put the external sd card back in it. It now boots up to the Acer logos, but that's it.

Stock ICS, rooted, CWM recovery.
I went into the CWM settings and told it to do a Backup and on the next blank screen, the android came up with a spherical thing in his tummy that's rolling about. I'm not sure what that means. There is no indication of how long the backup will take, or even where it's putting it, or whether it works at all. I don't know how long it lasts.

Goto a100 general sticky section, there is a dedicated brick thread with some things to try.
Sounds like the good old emmc failure to me though, and if it is, everything is lost, data, motherboard, TOTAL LOSS.

Also, there is a difference between emmc failure or just bricking by say a bad flash.
Suggest reading the wealth of guides here.

Last thing you can try is booting back into recovery and try to adb pull off your internal SD. Not likely to work, but worth a shot. Stop rebooting and wiping it, you'll just kill it faster, wait until after you get what you can off of it.
Then do a factory reset. It'll likely just not finish or reboot or go to Andy on his back again, never know.

Now it won't work at all. I didn't do anything to it, just went to sleep and when I woke up it wouldn't turn on. Been on the phone with Acer. They won't allow me to send it in for repairs because I'm three months out of warranty.

That sucks, Acer probably put only a year of warranty on because of their stupid eMMC chip. Thank god we are moving towards eSata now. I'm hopefully buying a Surface Pro.

I think a year is the standard time for devices, though IMO once this defect became known they should have recalled or extended the period, instead they just replace it with the same buggy board and kick it back out to die later for good.

Yes, I was very peeved. Acer wouldn't even fix it for money. They said I could not send it in. Thankfully, my note program was synced to Google. I thought for sure I lost it! I was feeling sick about it all night. Today I bought a Nexus and it synced right back up. I was so relieved. It was by far the most important data on the device. So I'm done with Acer now. Hope my Nexus will be better. Thanks for your concern, guys.
Same here. But I got on with acer chat and got bumped up to level 2.and they are fixing for free and paying for shipping. Out of warranty since March.

Thank you so much for posting your experience with Acer! If I had not seen this, I would not have even tried to get service since my warranty expired Nov 2012! But I guess because my problem was the dead emmc issue, I got bumped to Level 2 support and they authorized my return/repair immediately, including sending a FedEx shipping label to send my tablet to them! (Still waiting on the email with the shipping label, but I expect it shortly.)
So if you have a dead emmc, contact Acer chat service anyway, regardless of warranty! Their Level 2 support hours are 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM CST, Mon-Fri. Just go through support chat and they will transfer you through!

S4 Mini i9195 Boot loop - Recovery problem - Download mode working good

Hi to all, After two years of good working S4 mini is giving up. The last time when the problem is occured, the phone was „forced“ swiched off because of low battery. It was put on charger to charge normally and it did it as usual. But, when it was swiched on again it stayed in the boot loop on the Samsung logo over and over again. When I tried to come into recovery, it shows as normally when it starts to go into recovery with text that it has, as last, succesfully loaded CRC and then it shows for a short text: „There is no command“ and immediately reboot and come out of recovery. I went to „Download mode“ and I flashed in Odin, with no problem, the newest S4 mini official ROM but it didn't fix the problem. Any expiriance or sugestions are welcome... Thanks in advance !
If someone knows... Is it possible that some hardware component inside the phone which is responsible for recovery to work, that is burned out or something like that... ? And if so, could it be replaceable ? Thanks in advance !
Someone with a similar problem and some solution, maybe ?

Did you solve it? I'm having the same problem
Hi Danaidh, Sorry but not at all. I have spoken with some smartphone repairing technician and he told me that it is a hardware problem and that he has to solder some chip and to replace it with a new one. Because it was all happening abroad (Central East Europe), I thought that I will find some software solution here on XDA. Here where I live (West Europe) I didn't try to bring my smartphone to some smartphone repairing centar because they will simply swap a motherboard and they will charge me a full price what means is much better to buy a new smartphone then repairing this one. Even worst, after five months my phone doesn't charge any more and doesn't start at all and all this „smelt“ now on the real hardbrick. I have regulary charged a baterry to keep my S4 mini i9195 in life, but it could be also that it has swiched on it self during transport in my bag and that I didn't notice this and that it has used all battery power by swichining on and off in the infinite loop... But I will check it later if it will be visable on my PC without battery... If you find some other solution send me a message, please... Thanks in advance... Cheers !

I just checked if it will be „seen“ on my PC and it has installed drivers and it's seen as „Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008“ on COM6 port... So it means that battery died...
But fortunatelly it means there is still hope for this „little bug“(S4 mini)...

Same problem here.
Same problem, any resolution?
Gianasy, he didn't say which chip particularly should be replaced, but he mentioned the one who's responsible for recovery ... Or something like that... So, if you have some news on it, it will be nice to share it with us later on... Thanks !

Interesting. I have the very same problem like you (and two friends of mine have the same problem with their s4 mini). I went to a phone repair shop and he told me, that it is "a known problem of the s4 mini" and some part of the motherboard has to be "reparied"/replaced, but he has to send it somewhere and this will take about ten days.
I have ordered a second hand (used - refurbished) mainboard for S4 Mini from China for € 22 - so I'll write here and update you what is going on in about three - four weeks from now... Till then... Cheers !

Where did you buy it? I'm searching for a shop selling mainbords for the i9192 version of the S4 Mini.
I have a phone with the same problem.
Do you think i can use adb's pull to extract something from the phone? So far nothing worked.
In order to use adb I should be able to put the phone in recovery

If you had installed some cyanogenmod, maybe you can use adb while the phone is in recharge mode (=off). I've written a guide, how to extract your data, here.

Interesting, it shouldn't start just by plugging the charge cable in. Someone in another thread mentioned that a defective power button might cause similar symptoms. Have you tried just holding menu and vol-up or -down while it keeps restarting?
When in windows cmd, type
Code:
adb wait-for-device
and plug in the cable then. Does it wait forever or does the command come back?
