Can I Just Install Stock Android? - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

So, all the drama with my KFHD is getting old. Is there a way to get just stock ICS or Jellybean?

If you do it yourself, but then you would have to tweak everything to get it to work properly, its easier to install CM 10

Last I read CM 10 still wasn't ready for KFHD

Make sure you flash the right ROM. Are you sure you have a KFHD, if so, you would be best posting in that forum and not the Kindle Fire 2 forum.
Read, read again, and then read again. Too many people brick their devices by flashing ROMs or using tools not designed for their devices.

Hey all. Couldnt find a stock kindle fire rom with su,market, and adw built in... so I made one.
FEATURES****
STOCK AMAZON 6.2.1 UPDATE
PREROOTED
MARKET ADDED
ADW LAUNCHER ADDED
INSECURE BOOT IMAGE
This .zip is meant to be flashed via teamwinrecovery. It does not include recovery, bootloader, or other bad things that might break crap. This can be flashed over any rom so long as you wipe data/cache before doing so.
Download from my server @ here
UPDATE: To use Amazon Prime Instant Video , checkout my tutorial HERE
Big thanks to rootzwiki, android police, eldareathis, google, amazon, your mother.

Ok thanks. Just wondering. I like the stock interface, but don't want to use the stock ROM until I know root wont get borked with a OTA update.
I have TWRP so I would think even if i did get an OTA update though I could just boot into TWRP and flash CM7 or something. Am I correct in thinking this? Or could an OTA update kill TWRP too?

Sorry for the noob question. I've flashed roms with clockworkmod hundreds of times, but can someone please give me a set of step by step instructions on how to install this properly? I'm not familiar with teamwinrecovery, but I do not see the kindle fire on the list of supported devices. thanks

Basically the same as clockworkmod. Backups/Nandroid is the same premise, wiping partitions prior to flashing works the same. A how-to definitely exists. A simple google search yielded this post which should answer any questions you have. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414626
Thanks, cant wait to flash
Just Flashed it, very cool ROM.

I don't understand why anyone would need to see pics of a rooted stock rom. It looks the same as a stock amazon kindle fire rom.
[Edit] I didnt see at first that it's got ADW built in... so I guess if you haven't seen ADW before then maybe pics are useful [/edit]
This is great Biff. Just what I was looking for. Thank you for this

I know this sounds dumb, but TWRP will NOT recognize this zip for some reason. I can see every other ROM in my root directory, but I just can't get it to show this ROM in the Install section. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I'm not new to this in the slightest but I'm stumped.
*edit* Nevermind. Renaming it fixed it.
Is this the Biff from the G1 days?
Just a side note. Not sure if you care but changing the wallpaper crashes the app trying to change it. I was able to change it using Themes for ADW Launcher but they reset back to the Amazon ones.
I wont be using this but always like to congratulate devs on there work! Good job! Keep up the good work!

Yes. You can set one for default if you like. If you set one and decide you want to change, just go to manage applications and clear the defaults for that launcher.

[Q] Rooted Fire stuck at animated logo boot screen.

Well, finally decided to make a thread after hours of searching.
I've got a rooted kindle fire, and it's been working fine for the past month. Out of the blue last night, I turn it on, it won't boot past the animated white and orange kindle fire logo. I still get the usual blue logo beforehand, the device is recognized by my pc, i can boot into fastmode, get into TWRP or CWM, I'm just not sure what to do from here.
Most other people with this problem seem to be stuck in fastboot, while i'm not.
Any help would be appreciated.
It sounds like your kindle's current stock rom got messed up
Here's what you should do:
Boot into twrp
Transfer a different rom to your kindle
Wipe what's needed
Flash the new rom
Reboot

Thanks a bunch for helping identify the problem Any specific rom you'd recommend? CM7 or ICS?
Also, would you be able to link me to a tutorial on what needs to be wiped, as well as how to flash said rom?
If you like stock you can get modaco
Gede rom looks very customizable
I'm on modaco now
Wiping nd flashing depends on the rom
Do you have TWRP or clockwork
I know more of TWRP

Back to 100% stock?

I don't use my kindle for anything but reading now and then, so I'd like to flash back to the stock ROM just in case I have to return it or sell it or anything like that.
Can someone tell me what I need to do? I'm on alien 7.0

[Q] dual boot between cm9 & stock kf

I have read the Kindle Fire Beginners Guide and the supplement on reverting to Stock and I read a thread about dual booting between ROM's. So as of now, it appears that you can not dual boot between cm9 and KF stock, while leaving TWRP installed. My question is, can the stock kf os be converted to a ROM that could be used in a dual boot?
MoDoCo can be used as an alternate ROM. It is basicly stock. Unused that and Jellybean 4.1.1 as my primary for quite a while

Ideally, I am looking for a way to switch between the original Amazon system that can be registered and an android system like CM9, using a boot menu. By the way, I really like your signature.
