Hi everyone...
My Xperia S was very well two nights exactly, but, yesterday, I can't startup the wifi.
When I press into Settings > Wi-Fi then i turn it on, it shows "Turning on Wi-Fi" and does not work.
I formatted the cell using SUS, PCC and even installed the Android 4.1.2 and still does not work.
Can anyone help me? :crying:
Does it loop around in Connecting > Saved,Secured thing?
In this case, change your router settings from b/g/n to either "G only" or "N only" and restart the router (pull the power cord out for at least 30 seconds ad plug it back in).
On your phone: forget the wifi network and once the router is up again, try to reconnect.
Do not post multiple times on same topic. Post once and wait, you will get your answer.

I got the htc wifi router working and surfed for a few minutes. I logged out of my PC and back in and the internet wouldnt work on my PC or my phone. I rebooted my phone and still the same problem. Has anyone else run across this problem? How do I fix it/troubleshoot it? 3G is showing it is connected
Has anyone else had this problem? I had to finally do a hard reset/wipe to get things working again.
There's another similar report here, maybe in the cdma area.
I'm not clear on your issue. Is this wmwifi not working after a reboot or Activesync not recognizing after the reboot?
And are you using the latest wmwifi?
edit: I'm adding that I downloaded the latest wmwifirouter last friday 18sep09, and I thought it was a vpn/wifi issue on my laptop. My TP2 did not recognize under activesync after I did a few things, but WM did work the one time I tested it.
I am not using wmwifi. I am using HTC CM Internet Sharing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4170499#post4170499
I figured it was put out by HTC (and free) so it should work right?
It created the wifi access point fine, and I was able to surf with my laptop at good speeds. I left and came back and the internet would no longer connect (laptop or phone).
I tried everything from soft rebooting, to removing the application, to calling *228 (reset the phone), and even manually setting up the verizon data settings. Nothing worked. I just could not establish a data connection.
Finally I gave up and did a hard reboot and restore and it finally worked.
I really need a reliable way of setting up a wifi access point but dont want to risk this fiasco again.
Yeah, I mis-read your first post, sorry!
For me it was as simple as starting the wifi router program and then cleanly stopping it. If forced to quit, you will have no network access. It's happened a couple times for me.

Hi there, I had used htc wifi router a while back and hadnt tried connecting the phone to the local wifi network since. After reading your post, I thought I'd check and yes I was getting the same problem, i.e. it wouldn't connect to my home wifi network.
I found the fix to be as follows:
1) Go into comms manager, turn WiFi on
2) Under settings go to wireless LAN
3) In the main tab you will that the SSID is set to "Mobile router", select change network button underneath.
4) Now you should see the SSID of your network, dont select anything, just press o.k at the top and hey presto it will connect.
Let us know if this worked.

Thanks. I couldnt connect to the internet through 3G either though, even though the 3G icon was showing in my status bar.

Ah, that's probably for some other reason, no issues with 3G connection for me.
Same problem for me. I connect to the mobile through wifi (Adhoc connection) and the mobile is connected in 3G but I can't surf internet from my laptop.
Enable DHCP
Hi all
Sometimes after using this software you need to renable DHCP in the connections settings. This can be done via:
Start>Settings>Connections>WiFi>Wireless Networks>Network Adaptors>NE2000 Compatible Ethernet Adaptor and then select Use server-assigned IP address.

I had the same problem with my old phone. Go to settings - Wireless & Network - Press MENU - and there should be an option to disable that annoying function.
Hi,
I swear I did a search but Wifi seems a big issue with the Arc and I couldn't pinpoint my exact problem:
Everytime I reboot my router, the Arc loses its previous working wifi connection. The wifi networklist will state that the "network is not in range" (while I am basically sitting on top of my router), also forgetting the network and setting it up manually does not solve the problem. The only way I have found to address this is to change the Wifi SSID in the router - which is not a long term option.
Unfortunately I cannot give you details on the ROM (its my wife's phone and she is threatening me remotely if I cannot fix this. Like NOW) - but I know that I rooted it and put a UK stock ROM (instead of the Singaporean) about 5 months ago.
Please help, anybody - and again, I apologise if that has been addresse, I could not find the appropriate threads.
cheers
Why do you restart your router?
(i do rarely, only if the dsl/internet is gone)
Try to change ssid and sec.key of your router.
What kind of sec.key type do you use. Fexampe i use WPA-(PSK)

My internet is usually ok but I also use IPTV which sometimes (= every other day) hangs and takes the router (Asus RT-N13U) along.

I changed the SSID several times already because it is the only way to make the Arc find my network again. Security is WPA-PSK, I also tried WPA2-PSK, which made no difference.
I do acknowledge that the problem may be the router BUT every other device in my house (which includes several laptops, a Galaxy S2 and a Asus TF101) connects flawlessly to Wifi even after several router reboots. Just the arc throws the towel every single time.
Thats really wierd. These problems are very hard to help remotely, in my option
Try changing mac adress, and if you can log into you router and check device (arc) permissions
Also look at your routers radio type (-a, -b, -g, -n or something)
At least try a frimware upgrade/reinstall.
Thats what i got for now
From my sexy LT15i
First of all thank you for the time and answer.
I think from router side I'm ok, firmware is up to date, band is 20MHz, mode is b/g/n auto and no fancy settings.
The problem seems to be: as long there is a valid DHCP lease for the Sony after the router reboot, it will refuse to connect. Only after I get the lease for teh Sony out of the router (which requires a lot of fiddling) can the phone connect again.
So, to expand the question: Is there an android tool that can do some advanced networking stuff (for example something like the "ipconfig /release" command in Win?
If all else fails, I'll just buy her an iPhone
Tried to set up a static ip on you arc?
Settings > wireless and network > wireless settings > push menu button ang press advanced > check the static ip option and configure it
Try a app to connect like wifi manager and wifi connect etc.
Are the phone using the latest frimware?
From my sexy LT15i
Hello. I search the forum and the net and I didn't find an answer. I Have an Arc S, and the phone doesn´t seem to find my wi-fi. The strangest is that the phone recognizes other networks, and it was already connected at my network.
Already disabled all the WPA/WEP securitys, changed the name of the wi-fi network, Pulled the baterry out of the phone etc. My Computer is working fine over the wi-fi.
Strangest part is that my wife's phone (arc S) is doing exactly the same as mine. It all started with a electricity fail. It happened before once, but with a router reset was OK, but not this time.
Really messed up.. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Have you tried manually connect to your network?
Your wifes arc s works, probably the promblem is 99% on your phone. Try a repair on pc companion
From my sexy LT15i
Already tried a manual connection, but the network does not appear. My wifes phone is not finding the network as well....
Sorry for misreading
Some troubleshoots:
*Check your firewall on your router. Try to disable
*Change SSID/key -keytypes
*Check if your SSID us hidden, if so make it visible
*Frimware upgrade/reinstall on router
*Try other signal channels like 11, 6
Set auto if possible
Theres a app on store to find the best one
*Try other radio type, like b, g, n
Set auto if possible
*Tried to set up a static ip on you arc?
Settings > wireless and network > wireless settings > push menu button ang press advanced > check the static ip option and configure it
*Try a app to connect like wifi manager and wifi connect etc.
*Check device (arc s) settings/permissions on router
*Are the phone using the latest frimware?
**The last solution. Contact internet provider about giving you a new router (if they gave this one)
***Ultimate solution. Throw that piece if sheit out and get a new one.
From my sexy LT15i
probably your your wifi is ad-hoc mode
android stock roms can not recognize ad-hoc wifi mode . just access point mode .
if it is your problem you have 2 solutions :
change your wifi mode to access point mode
use customs roms like miui or cm
Hello All. I already tried all the above, excluding somethings that was impossible in my router (software update).
After changing every single parameter im my router, the one that worked was changing the ssid channel from auto to manual. The first channel I tryed the phone immidiatly recgonized my Wi-fi, and now I changed Again to auto and its working fine....
Dont have a clue why!!
Thanks for all!!
Is there any other router signals where you live witch your phone finds ?
Thats why, radio jamming together
From my sexy LT15i
Yes, there are some other networks with same brand of routers (same ISP provider), but with different names.
The strangest part was that it worked before, than with no changes other than the power shortage both phones stop finding the network... But now is fine
Thanks!!
Somehow my phone won't find my home wifi anymore.
I tried turning off and on again both, phone and router. My friend has an S4 Mini, too, and hers connects without any problem. When I go to wifi settings, my home wifi appears in the networks list, but it is marked as "not in range". Occasionally it finds the wifi and connects to it, but only for a few seconds.
I already tried the *#0011# thing (turning off power save mode), but still got connection issues.
