I just came across this case case
http://www.amazon.com/MiniSuit-Gala...TF8&qid=1364730407&sr=8-1&keywords=B00AOAS1S4
The product claims to have auto wakeup and sleep feature. I could not see a confirmation of this feature working in any reviews.
Has someone here tried this case and can provide feedback?

Since our tableta dont normally have this feature, I would assume it is suported via the keyboard and the bluetooth connection
I know there's a app that uses the proximity sensor in conjunction with a flip case will auto screen on and off when the flip cover is open or closed. Maybe the same thing is being used here? I don't see anything mentioned in the reviews about this particular feature.
Skeptical, even if it is, it should just be waking the tablet up with an equivalent of a key press, but perhaps automatically with magnets in the keyboard. And activating the lock button when closed

Hi all! I'm using the flip case for the galaxy s2 and was wondering if there is an app like Case Sensor for tablets that we can use for our phones. So essentially the app would recognize the state of the cover (whether its on or off) and turn the screen on or off depending on that. It's all about eye candy and showing off to the iOS users, right?

A quick search on the market brought this up: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rainy.autolock&feature=search_result
I don't have a flip case so I couldn't try it with a case but while simply covering/uncovering the proximity sensor with my finger it worked fine.
There's also PocketSensor which is a paid app, but has a free trial here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.phonephreak.pocketsensor_demo&feature=search_result
Hey thanks a lot!! =)
I didn't see a definite answer so I broke out my magnets and started testing. There is a mag lock feature in the N7 V2. It's about half way down on the left side. So sleep/wake cases will work just fine.

Cool.
I am so glad they did not change this, it makes it so much more manageable.
I got a case from EasyAcc today. Most times it wakes the device. Often when it is asleep for a while it does not wake up. Misplaced magnet in the case? Bug in firmware? Got latest original.

I got the caseology case that has magnetic sleep and I haven't seen it failed once.

Isn't the one supposed to have infrared remote built in or am I mistaken?

It is the app is called TV. There is a bunch of configuration but it will let you record the IR blasts from remotes and then control those devices. I have mine configured to control the projector in my classroom (I'm a teacher...not a clever and slightly evil student).
Cool, thank you

Yeah, it's built right into the Power Button. Which I think is quite nice (aesthetically). My only gripe with it is that none of the cases will cover this giving you a little more button response like the volume buttons.

I think if you covered the IR blaster, it wouldn't work. That's the whole point. However, I don't think that applies with transparent cases. I only have a basic understanding of how IR works.
Yeah, that's what I was getting at.
I have a transparent TPU case that's still cut out, I've learned to live with it. I just like having more button response that most HTC phones give you. That's one of the reason I never LOVED the DNA until I got the specific case I had.
Otherwise, I love my phone :good:
I have the Mophie battery case. It covers the power button, makes it easier to press and the IR still works with it.
Jay how has your experience been with the mophie overall?

That's because the power button allows the IR to pass through it.
Its such a big case though. Is it worth it?

Ordered it from Amazon a day or two before I got the phone. It arrived the day I got the phone, so I've only had it for the weekend.
It's designed well, a section of the top pulls off and the phone slides into the bottom with a snug fit. There's a reassuring snap when putting the the top back on and I have to use both hands to take it apart, so I'm not concerned about it opening on its own. And it's not so tight to the point of worrying about breaking the phone trying to get it out of the case. It's a comfortable medium.
There is a small lip around the edge of the screen, but it doesn't interfere with me using programs with side swipe gestures like SwipePad, or accessing all the keys on the on-screen keyboard.
The buttons are significantly easier to find and press than on the phone itself. As mentioned, the power button is translucent allowing the IR commands to still pass through it.
My previous phone was the Evo 4g lte with the seidio battery case. Laying the two phones on a flat surface, they are about the same thickness, but the Mophie case it's noticeably longer. I work at a plant an my phone lives in the pocket of my FR shirt, so the size doesn't really bother me.
Receiving the case on the weekend, I haven't had a chance it test the battery yet. I don't have the best reception at the plant, I'm usually in the yellow around 3:30 pm because the radio is working so hard trying to find and keep a signal. I will report back in a few days with the results.
On the back of the case, there's a button that when pressed, lights up 4 white leds to indicate how much charge is left in the battery case. It takes a little effort to press the button, and you have to hold it in for a small period of time, so I'm not worried about anything in my pocket setting it off.
There's a switch to turn the charging on or off, it is flush with the case, but I don't have any issue moving the switch despite having practically no fingernails. There is also a bit of resistance to toggle it.
The external micro usb port works well for days pass through. I would often have issues with the Seidio case appearing as a "unknown device" when I plugged it in, and would have to remove the case in order to transfer. No issues with the Mophie case.
Because of the length, letting the bottom rest in your palm while using the phone can make it difficult to access the top of the phone or the notification bar. Wrapping fingers around the back and letting the bottom hang out still lets more access the majority of the phone.
Hope this answers anything you had questions about, let me know if there is anything else.

Expensive case... Though from the looks of it you get what you pay for without a doubt.
It isn't cheap, but I'd rather pay the money for this case with functionality than than having to order a cheap case with no functionality multiple times because it keeps breaking.

I reviewed it last month.

When I get paid this case is mine...
I have a UAG case that I got off amazon. It seems like it was designed with the IR device in mind, because there is a small cut out in the power button cover.
Got my nexus today and the official quick cover I ordered came with it too, even though the order indicated part dispatch. I had assumed this meant the case had been delayed.
Have to say it is a very nice case, feels great, nice snug fit and it is really thin. While it is still bedding in the front flap is lifting slightly when closed (see pic) but I am sure this will give a bit in the next few day's.
Not worth £35!!!!! But it is a nice case. If the spigen one is as nicely made (seem to be looking at pics and reviews) then it will make them a bargain
Nice, but I REALLY miss the Nexus sign from the back...

Yes, correct. Notification light is obscured by cover.
LG/Google case design = FAIL
Time to get out the drill or hole punch, shall I take the phone out of the case before I begin drilling?
haha, there aren't many pictures with a broken screen yet so do it! ;p
where did you get the quick cover? Play store?

Yes, play store.
Was in new gadget blindness mode and didn't really think about the cost, at £35 it is a bit too much.
I reckon at that price the hole punch cut out for the notification light should go for about £4 on eBay

Well all the pics show a hole for the notification light. If there is no hole for your camera also, then you have it installed upside down

You had me going there for a moment - I had to reach all the way past my keyboard at work to test your theory.
Phew, I am not an idiot after all, although most of my daily actions would prove otherwise, LGoogle have forgotten to poke a hole in their case!
I will have to ring them and see if they can mail me a hole upgrade? If the makers of polo mints can remember to put holes in their products, I don't see why LGoogle can't
What do you think Google will charge me for postage on a hole?
I really like it but to bad the nexus logo on the back is lost
Id love to get this but losing the nexus logo is a no go for me. I think ill just buy a real bumper.
Does that mean that the front flap isn't magnetized? I'd heard it was and that when you open it, it unlocks your screen.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I have the case as well myself. The flap IS magnetised. The magnet is actually located above the volume buttons, so that when closed the magnet touches the screen glass over the volume buttons.
And I agree, while the case is nice, it definitely isn't worth £35, more like £15 and that's pushing it.

Ok...how did you guys get the case? When I look in the Google Play store, it says "coming soon". I'm in Canada (eh?) and never have any issue purchasing other stuff. I got the white Nexus 5 and thought the white flipcase would look SIC!!!
I received my Quick Cover with my Nexus 5 on Monday. First time I have used a case like this and I must say I am impressed. It feels premium (perhaps not £35 premium) and does not add as much bulk to the phone as I expected.
I for one am glad it has no notification light hole as the light used to wake me in the night on my bedside table.
One question to any other owners, is the rear too thick for wireless charging to work?

Pretty sure wireless charging is fine with this case, think I read it somewhere?
I am sure LGoogle wouldn't overlook this, especially considering they are releasing a charger for the nexus devices too.

The hole in the picture is at the top for the earpiece so you can talk on the phone with the cover closed...
What happens if the flap is closed, you receive an incoming call and open the flap? Does that automatically answer the call? What happens to a call when you close the flap?
Thanks for your feedback.

Opening the flip just turns on the screen. All it does is it saves your pressing the power button. You still have to swipe to unlock if you have it turned on, still have to enter your unlock code etc. When there's an incoming call, after opening the flip you still have to swipe to answer/reject/silence the call. And closing the flip doesn't end calls either, it just turns off the display, or the speaker hole on the flip would be pointless.

I don't know what about it wouldn't work. It's not doing anything other companies haven't done, just putting it all together with solid protection and a latching mechanism.

Be sure to post a review about it
I posted a review on this yesterday, if you want to check it out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681942
---------- Post added at 11:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:37 AM ----------
I got this yesterday. The wake and sleep function doesn't work unless you use the flawed Style View app. The app works by using the proximity sensor instead of a magnetic sensor. This means that if you are using your phone and happen to get close to the top of the screen it will go into the "Smart View" mode. Extremely annoying. Hopefully the Spigen app being released on 5/1 is better, or this case is next to useless for me.
Spigen is releasing a specific app next month. I have one and live it. I use Gravity Screen, and Nils floating notifications over the cm lock screen, is the best solution I found, haven't noticed significant battery drain.
