It had crossed my mind more than a few times. I have the same warranty for my TV and MacBook Air since I never pay retail for things and usually go through Ebay. They are very well rated and customer service is great. I just might pull the trigger on the same.

Warrananties in US-negri,squaretrade or toughcell

I bought it today from negrielectronics, yay yay yay! But wat abt warranty? Do I trust negrielectronics to honor their 1yr warranty policy,or repair or whatever?is that reasonable,or mind bendingly expensive? Or I could go 4 square trade for 99$,plus 99$ deductible each claim! Or toughcell insurance with 48$ for 2yrs and n 75$ deductible.
2 things:
1.I have next to nothing experience with warranty on unlocked phones.
2.I just need this 4 4 months,I leave on a 3 yr long assignent out of the country come April. So I can get squaretrade prorated refund, but no refund on toughcell. On top of that squaretrade deductible is really high.
So should I try to wing it with negrielectronics or get something?
sent from my tablet,NOT AN IPAD!
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Squaretrade won't allow a warranty for a grey market device like this one. The problem with US Retailers like Expansys or Negri is they have the ship the phone back to the UK for warranty service. This can take a few weeks so it would be good to have a backup phone in case. I would assume these days the percentage of smart phones that ever need warranty service are quite low. The other route should you have a problem is finding a local cell phone repair shop.

Expansys Offerings Unlocked Galaxy Nexus for $400 – Beats Google Play With No Tax

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet.
http://phandroid.com/2012/04/25/dea...-nexus-for-400-beats-google-play-with-no-tax/
Edit: Some quick bullet points
*From experience and from what I've heard, Expansys does help with warranty if an issue arises
*The phone already "features the YAKJU software build which means this device will receive updates direct from Google"
*Free shipping is in the USA, no tax outiside of Illinois, and they do ship internationally.
Not that it really affects me, but for in country warranty, I would pay the extra $50
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Yeah but do they still play middleman for two years should a warranty need arise? Otoh though $400 is a nice price for this phone and within many people's budget if you're a high mid or high end phone type of person.
sent with 3g courage. better recognize. 4g courage coming soon. stock up on diapers.
So... for sure this is the one with the international warranty?
No way I would buy this one over the one direct from google with a U.S.A. warranty if it is...
I ordered an MHL adapter from them back when the EVO 3D came out and it said it was in stock. Took about 6 weeks for it to arrive at my house. They said they sold out prior to my order. That's my experience with them.
Cool of them to lower their price to match the Google store. But I'd still have bought it from Google with the $30 sales tax and shipping anyway.
Hmmm... maybe this is the feeling all the Apple fanboys have when buying directly from the Apple store.
I live in Bloomington, which is where expansys-USA is located. Lucky for me I can save shipping when I order from them cause I can just pick it up. Unlucky for me cause I pay tax...
I didn't get my nexus from them two weeks ago when I ordered it because they were selling them for $569 and I got it from Amazon for $450. Darn, two weeks and would have saved 50 bones...plus I could just drop it off and pick it up if I need warranty work.
As it stands now the company I got it from said they will take care of sending off for warranty, but I have to mail to Chicago, they send to Samsung Canada, Samsung ships back to them, then them to me. Basically same process as expansys I guess but add a couple days and cost for shipping to and from Chicago. Oh well I guess. sometimes you make the right move, other times wrong. Sometimes you jump the gun and other times you miss the boat. Guess I made the right move but jumped the gun a little.

you're correct. bought mine from dailysteals a month ago for $465 wish i would have waited so i could have bought the google phone from google. they need a nexus store.
also after helping a few people deal with international warranties for devices i wasn't really worried about buying my nexus was any retailer because samsung was helpful in all the situations (2 unlocked gs2 and 1 galaxy note).
Less than $50 is more than worth it for the direct warranty alone.
gosh, i bought my gnex at expansys for 569 1 week ago.
i have screen display issues, might as well get a refund and re-order it.

Reputable sellers to US buyers

Hey guys I just cant make the idea of the 16GB XL work for me and I want to order the One X 32GB. Can anyone tell me some reputable sellers?? I have been told to many horror stories about importing phones . Any tricks to get this working on ATT I should be aware of?

I'd go with Handtec or Clove in the UK. Expansys and Negri have been shipping Malaysian phones. Handtec actually delivers overnight where "express" from Expansys can take almost a week.
Was looking at Intergron Technology website as they have it for a bit cheaper. BBB check on them doesnt look bad. $599 is there price but what about warranty doing it this way? Is this a grey market purchase doing it this way will HTC honor the warranty?

Good questions. It's grey market by definition because it's being sold outside of the country/region of intended sale. I'm guessing Expansys is an authorized reseller but I don't know about the others. Samsung is insanely strict about grey market warranty support, I don't know about HTC. Phones purchased in the UK all come with a two year warranty. I don't know about Asia. Sorry for questions instead of answers. Maybe someone with more HTC experience knows more.
Well I can wait til some more folks throw in their 2 cents. I just wish HTC would have offered a 32gb XL or just put the SD slot on then this wouldnt be an issue.

Have you used an imported phone before? In addition to warranty questions there's also the fact you can't buy carrier insurance for it. I'd strongly suggest a SquareTrade warranty. They insure grey market phones and cover ADH should anything happen to it. It's about $95 for two years with a $99 deductible and they cover up to price you paid for the phone. There's some 30% off coupons on the Prime forum's front page to get to that $95. It's also transferable and adds a lot of value if you want to eBay or CL later.
I always get my phones from negrielectronics

Malaysian phones are just like every other phone. the only thing that might bother some is that the update took a few more days to get sent out. there's no good reason to pay more than you have to, but that's my opinion. mine was 619 with 5 day UPS.
the only warranty you can get for the X that i know of is Squaretrade. i've never had a phone go bad before i was done with it so i'm not getting one.
Yeah XL is bogus and LTE is not everywhere. Better development for Tegra as you can see. Plus you don't need a smartphone data plan so the phone will pay for itself. Unlimited data is 15 bucks, so your saving 15 a month.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
Yeah I am on unlimited but not in an area that will see LTE in this decade lol. So thats why I am looking at the 32Gb version. 16 just wont cut it.
Newegg has it for 619 right now. I think I will be getting it there. Anyone else bought a phone from Newegg. I am concerned about there return policy. 30 Days for refund and 90 for replacement.
I bought mine from expansys. The phone shipped the same day I ordered it and got to my home in Arizona 2 days later. That was with their free shipping. I am very happy with them. I also received a flawless phone. Having zero issues here. This was my first time buying from them however I will gladly buy from them in the future.

[Q] Best Place for User in the US to Buy an Unlocked Z1 Compact From?

How's everybody doing?
I'm looking to order an unlocked Z1 Compact either tonight or tomorrow and am wondering the best and most reliable sites to purchase from?
Also, I imagine I lose the Sony warranty with an unlocked Compact because it's not available in the US market right?
Is it a wise idea to buy a SquareSoft 2 year warranty from Ebay or Amazon? I've been trying to research them and am getting mixed results including a lot of complaints of them scamming and semi-scamming on claim attempts, but often the bad reviews and experiences are the loudest and most glaring.
Anybody have experience with any of the following re-sellers?
Negri Electronics
Wireless Everything(through Amazon)
Cells4U
Techno Trading House(through Ebay)
Never-MSRP(through Ebay)
Open to other suggestions of well of course, but I really need to get this in by say Monday, so not looking for any super long wait international shippers unless the price and reliability of the seller was superb, but even then any issues probably mean international return shipping on my dime so I'm a little sketchy on those options.
Sony won't sell them direct to US customers...
Thanks in advance guys, really excited to get this phone!
Expansys USA
Hands down the best site for us customers ...
I got 4 phones from them and all came in sealed
Box all accessories and US wall adapter....
I got mine from Amazon.com, seller My-Wish-List. No complaints. Not sure on warranty but I wouldn't expect much from Sony even if bought legitimately. I was counting on Amazon.com to back me up if the phone was DOA.

No doubt, hands down the best I've purchased from is Clove. I have purchased two phones from them, the first needed some repair, and they were very good about facilitating the process and getting it back to me. No need to look elsewhere.
Hi, here in Singapore,it actually sells for about 500USD so i would consider it a good bargain.
Thanks everybody. I ordered the phone about a half hour ago from Amazon, went with Wireless Everything.
Ordered a case, some tempered glass screen protectors and a cheap rubber case.
Think I might wind up with a Devil Case once they drop them for the Compact if it will fit over the screen protector.
Really excited to get this, I'm coming from a REALLY old phone that had died and came back to life so many times it was basically a zombie.

Good luck. You're going to love this phone. I have nothing but good to say about it. (except I see it's about $20 less now than when I ordered it)
What carrier are you on? I'm on T-Mobile and both H+ and LTE work perfectly.

I am also on T-Mobile. Been using a HTC G2 that was almost 4 years old before it perma-bricked about 2 weeks ago and have been using a BB Bold borrowed from a friend since then while I've been deciding what phone to go with and from where.
I ordered from Expansys Canada but the phone shipped out the States. When it came the box had been opened and a charger adaptor was included. Maybe should have gone through Amazon. Phone is working well but had to manually put the Rogers Canada APN in. Great phone though.

For what it's worth I contacted USA xperia support and asked them about this. They said that it doesn't matter if the unit is not available to purchase in USA, and that I have a 1 year warranty on my phone that would be honored in a sony usa service center. I have my doubts about the quality of the service but it sounds like at least we're not stuck with no warranty at all.

I have my Z1 compact in for repair at Sony, and they don't sell it in my country.
Sony said that they would repair it, but no guarantees on the turnaround time. It's usually 14 days. business days.
That's for phones that they repair all the time. They said that they may have to send the phone out to a diff repair center in another country.
I got a lemon where the Z1 would sometimes detected my sim, and sometimes not. Faulty sim card contacts in the phone or something like that.I'm chalking it up to bad luck.

Galaxy Note 7 Insurance - Which is best?

I'm on AT&T here in the United States and I have purchased the Unlocked Galaxy Note 7 Dual Sim International Version (HERE)
The seller stated that it has a 1-Year Samsung Warranty, as all Samsung devices should have. But, being how expensive this phone is and how the gorilla glass 5 is apparently a scratch magnet, I was considering purchasing not only a case, but a protection plan. Who has experience with 3rd party insurance and protection plans? Any recommendations or experience?
I only know of the following:
SamsungProtectionPlus (only if I purchase from a Samsung authorized retailer)
SquareTrade
Mobile Rhino
Though I've never personally used them, I've never heard bad things about Square Trade. I have several customers that have needed to use Square Trade and have always given positive feedback on them

I would go Square Trade too. I've never used them for claims but never felt like I would have an issue if I needed them. I did add this phone to my carrier insurance which is more expensive deductible wise but also covers loss and theft. Perhaps ATT has something similar?
Sent from my SM-N930P using Tapatalk
I had Square trade for the note 4. When it was water damaged they told my they could only send it of to be fixed as they did not have any replacements. If it couldn't be fixed they would pay their determined amount. Not too bad overall but you could end up waiting a week or longer. Customer service is little hard to understand at times.
It took about 2 weeks to resolve my daughters claim.
That plan was 6.00 per mo with a 75.00 deductible
Also they DO NOT cover theft or loss

I just emailed their customer service and they told me that they do NOT cover international phones. I really loved their prices and philosophy on warranty service.
Try www.worthavegroup.com They are an independent insurance company, not one of the big guys, but I know they cover smart phones. They are big in the institutional world. They are the only ones we are allowed to use to cover our kids school assigned technology. (My kid has an iPad given to her by the school and if she breaks it we owe the school $600) It has a $0 deductible on the ipad, but the smartphones have a $50 deductible. Not too bad.
Several of the kids have shattered screens, and there have been no complaints that I have heard.

That was my dilemma. No insurer's want to cover international phone especially if they don't have manufacturers warranty. Even upsie said the same thing. Samsung won't honor your international warranty if your not in the country of origin of the phone. Order from B & H photo as they allow you to buy square trade at time of purchase

I had Liberty Mutual for my renter's and now Homeowner policy. They have a Computer Endorsement add on for $19 a year with a $50 deductible I believe. I've had to use it twice and my yearly rates didn't increase.

Lol I was watching that listing. I think the seller is lying. I emailed them about the warranty specifics and how would Samsung honor it and they said they would get back to me with clarification. They have so many positive reviews that I risked it and trusted them. They said I would get it by Friday and it turns out I won't have it until Monday. It's shipping from Singapore, so maybe they want us to ship the phone back to Singapore and then they would warranty it? I'm interested in that. It seems to me like the international version of the phone cannot be warrantied at all.

Guys I was worried just like you. When you click add to cart on B & H it gives you the option for 1 or 2 years of squaretrade.
Here is the reply I got from squaretrade.
" Thank you for considering SquaeTrade.*
SquareTrade does cover cell phones purchased brand new as long as the warranty is purchased within 30 days of the phone's purchase date. You can also switch to SquareTrade if the phone is insured through the carrier's insurance at the time you purchase our plan. Having said that, B&H is one of our resellers. If you are planning on purchasing the phone through them, it is highly recommended you buy the SquareTrade plan through them as well.*
You can simply request one of the representatives there to assist you with locating the best plan for the phone and they will be able to do so.*
If you have any more questions, please feel free to reply to this email. Otherwise you can also visitsquaretrade.com/help.
Thank you,

So we should be safe I hope.

They are kind of contradicting themselves. Because Samsung won't warranty a phone bought out of country. I wonder if they are assuming that B&H as a reseller always has phones that have manufacturer warranty.
