Sv: [Q] How do I open the SIM / SD card door?
Thanks but I am not sure I understand. Press and push? Push in or out?
I usually don't ask dumb questions but manual is not clear on how...

To attach the SIM and memory card cover
1 Place the SIM and memory card cover over the back of the phone so that the top
edge of the cover fits into the groove between the SIM and memory card slots
and the back of the phone.
2 Press down firmly on both sides of the SIM and memory card cover to reattach it.
Turning the device on and off
To turn on the device
Make sure that the battery is charged for at least 30 minutes before you turn on the device for
the first time.

I bought an extended red battery, and it was working fine until today. I dropped my phone and now the battery will only work for a little bit and then the phone will shut off and not turn back on.
The original battery works fine, no problems. So my question is could my dropping of the phone have done something to the extended battery?
Did you peel the red sticker off? If you did then what's happening is the battery is making contact with the metal sd card holder and shorting your phone. An easy fix, which was already posted in another thread, is to simply put a piece tape on the battery in the same spot where it would normally touch the sd card holder and you should be good to go.

Probably dropping of the phone Idk but I dropped my phone about three days ago and after that it would not connect to signal so I restored to normal and it started to get signal later on but now it is really weak where I would of gotten full bars like my house now I only get 2 bars usually.

Thanks so much that fixed it.
my sim card adaptor used for micro sim broke inside my desire hd , and 2 small chips from it , happen to stuck inside, using penknife , i managed to get rid of 1, the other 1 still stuck inside... unable to get off , i push in using normal sim card , into my desire hd , and i managed to get it in , but however the 1 small chip is still inside the slot ...
now rarely i'm able to get network from my simcard , but most of the time , it wont ... was wondering during the time when i used penknife to slot in , did i damage my phone in the process ? is there any parts in the sim card slot that is link to signal , which i might have cut with my penknife thus spoiling my phone ?
The 2 copper things on your SIM cover is basically the antenna.
i'm no expert but I don't think you can damage the SIM card so that you can still use it but would get bad reception.
I'd check if the cover is on correctly and if the antenna making contact with the phone pins.

thanks a lot for your comment , but i wont be able to see the inner part of it , due to the fact that the entire brown aluminum cover is blocking me from seeing it ... which is unless firstly i loose the screw to open up the cover , but it will make me void the warrenty as there is a sticker on 1 of these screws... lastly the tools to open the screw is not common ones , so i will have difficulty opening it...
there are 6 contacts inside the sim card slot, you may have damaged those
For some reason when I get a text message my screen will only dim after a short while, it never turns off. I have the timeout set to 15 seconds in settings.
Also, I don't know if its supposed to be this way but the sim card does not go in the side of the phone completely for me like the sd card does. Basically when I close the little cover for the sd card and sim card it pushes in the sim card enough for the phone to read it.
I've already had an issue where I had the phone bounce in my pocket, the little cover for the sd card and sim card got loose, and the sim card moved out so my phone restarted with no sim until I pushed the cover back in.
This is for AT&T by the way.

For the sim card, I had a problem with it not being in there well when I got it from AT&T. I put it in myself later using something thin to push it in and make sure it got pushed in all the way. I've had absolutely no problems yet. Hopefully that continues.
This sim card has to pushed in quite far for the "click" until its completely seated. I had to use a paper clip to push it in enough. Try that.
The paper clip trick worked, thanks guys .

Ditto. I had to offer push my sim card in further when I got home, too. After it did, it locked in place as expected.

Does the Note 4 not have a spring for the external SD card reader? Every time the phone vibrates, the SD card malfunctions because it's not locked in place.

I haven't had that at all. Maybe the metal casing around yours is somehow bent or misshapen? .

So when you put the card in, you can feel the spring?

Mine doesn't have a spring and it feels very snug when inserting it in. I thought it was odd that it didn't have the spring but whatever, no issues here.

No not really it just pushes in and is snug. No spring feeling or sound
I think they took out the spring to save space.

I would imagine you can fix that by bending the metal sd card cage downwards very slightly, so it holds the card more tightly.
As the title says, my S3 will no longer hold the SIM card. The spring just keeps popping the SIM card back out.
Does anyone know how I could play a bit of operation to just disable the spring?
I just want to get a few more weeks out of my s3 until the new nexus 5

I had a phone where the microSD slot stopped working right. A piece of business card trimmed to the right size to slip into the tray along with the SD card added just enough tension to hold the SD card in place without becoming hopelessly wedged. Something similar might work for this if you can find the right thickness card. Good luck.

I wound up electrical taping it into place.
Hopefully that holds for a while...
Nope. That worked for about five minutes. Back to the drawing board.
I folded up a piece of tape and used it with more tape, to jam everything in tight together. Seams to have lasted ten minutes now.
I had the same problem and did this.

For anyone that comes across this in the future (or if you still need a solution):
At the bottom of the SD card slot (while holding the phone upright) there is a small spring which is responsible for pushing the card out. You can pull the spring out with a small phillips screw driver, knife or other thin point.
At the bottom right of the SD card slot there is a small tab like feature. Bend this up, and put your screw driver downwards into this small hole. Now pry the spring out. It will take a few attempts, and it will definitely help if you use a flashlight and look to see whats going on in there.
