Hi,
I've currently installed android 4.1.2 on my galaxy nexus.
At the moment, I've all the apps that I need, the bootloader is unlocked, I've got the root permissions and the clockwork recovery.
The question is: is there a way to update to android 4.2.2 without lost the root, the apps and all the other things? Obviously without rooting the device and installing the apps again
Thanks
ps: I'm sorry if my english isn't perfect
You can read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419170
Personally, however, for a clean installation, I would be driven flash image of a factory 4.2.2. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895)

I am using GSM GN with 4.0.2 stock rom but modified the battery icon, radio is XXLA2 and bootloader is PRIMELA03 and already relocked bootloader
I know the OTA update now is only for completely stock 4.0.2 and I cannot find any custom "Stock rooted deodexed IMM76D" rom for GSM GN
Is there any method to update the rom to stock 4.0.4 without wiping my data??

best is to wipe all , like uprade to win7 from vista compared to clean installation

dude, as stated also in other threads, you will never be able to install OTA update due to custom recovery
seeya mates
I know the best is to wipe, but it need to backup the whole sdcard folder which is about 10GB data to my computer and then restore and need to reconfig the phone setting after wipe which really take a long long long time!!!!
So I want to find out the method of bypassing the complete 4.0.2 limitation or wait for someone to make a custom rom like "stock 4.0.4 rooted deodexed"
this kind of rom is available everytime a stock rom come out but not in this time!!?
with root explorer, or better with adb under cwm recovery if u have it, u can restore the files modified by the battery mod, and restore that files with the original 4.0.2 ones
in this way, u can apply the 4.0.4 ota when u get the notification
However, my rom is already deodexed!! Anyone have 4.0.2 rom(stock odexed but no need to wipe), radio and bootloader link (CWM zip), so I can flash this three in recovery and then the OTA update
I've just used the galaxy nexus toolkit and unlocked the bootloader then rooted the phone. If an update comes out, I have something to do before updating?
could you people please USE SEARCH and/or READ THE STICKIES!!!

This has been discussed millions of times probably...
If you have it rooted ONLY, you can get the update via OTA from Google, BUT you'll lose root (You can always flash it again, or download this app.)
If you also have custom recovery installed OR messed around with radio OR bootloader OR uninstalled certain system apps, OTA will not install.
Hello all, I'm new to this forum and I could really use some help with my phone. I have a rooted AT&T Samsung galaxy S3 running on 4.1.1 stock with cwm. I would like to update to the latest stock OS which is 4.3 but I'm not sure how to do it right. I would prefer to keep all my data but I don't mind losing root. how should I go about updating my device safely?

If you are rooted then you can flash any 4.3 ROM in the android development and they all have KNOX free bases. You will most likely need to update your baseband to MJB. Enjoy your KNOX free 4.3!!!

You should first check to see if you can get an OTA update. Some users have reported being able to update OTA to 4.3 even with root. Go to Settings => About Device and check for updates. If you can't get an OTA update, you may try manually updating via cwm via the method posted in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658486
Before updating to 4.3, however, I would suggest you ensure you are done with taking advantage of all the opportunities you have at 4.1.1 including free unlock as you would not be able to downgrade the 4.3 bootloader once you've upgraded. If you don't have Samsung Kies installed on your PC, you may install it to back up and restore your data. In other words, you cannot go back to an older version (easily) once you have upgraded.
Please forgive my newbie questions. Have been searching but couldn't find a straightforward answer:
I'm running stock 4.2.2 rom. The only changes I made were installing CWM recovery and rooting. How do I upgrade to the 4.4.2 without wiping the data? Is there a rooted-nodata-upgrade I can use?
If there is no way to do so: Can I recover to 4.4 from a 4.2 nandroid?
[This happens to be a relatively new phone for me ... but with my earlier phones Titanium etc. always left some settings that I needed to do manually, which is why nandroid would be the best].
Thanks for taking the time to answer. If the answer is already found clearly in some other thread ... please point me to it that will be enough.

You can just Odin flash the update right over what you have now. You don't need to wipe. Everything will be the same after you Odin flash the update but you won't have root or CWM recovery anymore. Once you do this though you will have the Knox bootloader now and if you don't care about warranty don't worry. Otherwise you won't be able to put a custom recovery on without tripping Knox. I'm not sure if you can root 4.4 without tripping Knox either but then again if you don't care about tripping Knox then CF Autoroot works great then install your custom recovery of choice.

You can't install a custom ROM without being rooted. After you manage to root your phone you should find plenty of tutorials on the forums on how to install a custom recovery and flash ROMs.
