Hi guys,
I have got really big problem - my i8160 is completely death. After reflashing via odin and after restarting he does nothing. Is not possible turn-on, or start flash mode. The phone is doing nothing via USB also. The worst case for me - I did not reset flash counter = No warranty.
Does it mean GAME OVER for me? Pls, does it exist any possibility to do something?
What are you try to flash? What rom you use before "fatal" flash? When you press power button, are the phone vibrate? Give some more info.
Sent from my GT-I8160 using Tapatalk 2
Can you describe step by step what did you do with your phone before it died. What did you flashed via ODIN? Where and what did you restored? We need to have more data to help you.
If it is completly dead ... do not worry abour flash counter. Give it to the warranty service. Many of my friends bricked their SII or SIII due to EMMC brick bug. None of them had virgin flash counter ... every phone was fixed. I think Samsung does not care about flash counter anymore. Almost every flash counter can be reseted, so what is the point?
If nothing helps, there is always a way to do JTAG:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030059
http://www.techgsm.com/JTAG_Samsung_i8160i8160P_Galaxy_Ace_2,156835.html
It is cheap and easy (if you do this for the second time). If you have basic soldering skills you do not even need to buy adapter from second link. But after JTAG you loose your warranty for sure, because you must manually clear paint from JTAG pins on your i8160. I have recovered my Kindle and my Asus router from dead state using good old PC-AT with RS232 and some JTAG cables.

Try to send it to Samsung. Maybe it's really completely dead and they can't find the cause.

Ok, I try to describe what happened. First of all, now the phone does nothing = no start, no flash mode, no vibrate, no signs. I am from middle Europe. For some reason, I have flashed a official T-com FW from Sammobile but not the last version. It was file "I8160BOLE1_I8160TMSLE2_TMS.zip". After flashing via Odin was everything OK, the phone has started OK. After that, I was looking for updates direct in my phone. The phone was downloading via 3G a file 8,5MB. Then he asked me about restarting. I confirmed this request. He has restarted in flash mode and he was flashing the updates (8,5MB file). Then I went away... After 5 minutes was I back - the phone was turned off.
That is me story.
What can I do?

Don't tell them your story! To flash via Odin is not official and you lost warranty. But nobody can test your counter so nobody knows you flash via Odin

Hi all,
i just bricked my Galaxy Gio... i installed Rom Manager, downloaded CWM Recovery 4.0.1.5 which according to this:
http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
page is the version to use with the Gio. After flashing CWM Recovery I turned the phone off.
Now my phone is _completely_ bricked... it doesn't respond to any input at all, it doesn't respond to my pushings of the on/off button.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
Flash stock with odin, plus there was a thread to not to flash cwm from rom manager.

It seems that the phone is bricked permanently... it won't even go into download mode... :'(
Look for unbricking tutorial thread in
The Android Development section here by Peteragent5. There is a soultion to unbrick gio. And if you ever want to flash CWM, flash it from stock recovery (press home and power button at the same time when phone is off)

everyone! Its no use, you have to bring it back, say that you dropped it or something, they repaired mine for free
Sent from my good ol’ Gio
Give it to the service guarantees if you have
Say that when you update your phone software Kies is disabled and will not turn on
The program you probably burned RomManager Memory Storage Capacity
So for anything they should not come
A Kies as it gets updated Boot can load anything so as to disconnect the phone is dead
Perhaps exchange the motherboard and that's all

I turned the phone in to 3 today, they will probably have to replace the motherboard as Rom Manager seems to have... messed it up bigtime.
Hopefully they won't charge me much for this though in the reparation log it says:
Warranty: None
Insurance: None
I got the phone just a few months ago when changing mobile operator to 3... i'm really happy with the phone, just have to fully understand that in the Android world your not quite as protected as in the realm of iOS – for better and worse.

Have you fixed your Gio?
Ok, so I had my Samsung Galaxy Gio rooted for a loong time, no problems at all...I decided to download the app called "ROM manager"...that was the most stupid idea ever... I chose a model, the first one on the list, wich I cant remember the name, and I selected, after it downloaded the Clockworkmod, I pressed To "Fix" something, auto app shuts, etc... Then it asked me to restart my device, as soon as I did that, my phone "died/bricked"
I CANT START IT IN RECOVERY/DOWNLOAD MODE
I already tried takinf out the battery and replacing it, I kinda tried the Odin process, but imma noob at these things...
I guess my phone is hard-bricked...
If there is no solution but sending it to Samsung, will they charge anything for the repair (im on portugal...)
PLEASE, SOMEONE SAVE MY PHONE'S SOUL!
too bad, theres nothing you can do..
you just need a bit of luck that samsung will fix it for free, I think they need to replace the motherboard

2.While you keep press the two button, insert the battery and press your home button..
3.Hope that it will enter download mode, then flash it through odin..

So I flashed the latest Slimbean last night and it instabricked my phone. Total failure. After I rebooted the phone would turn on, wont charge, wont go into recovery or download mode. Yes I flashed correctly and yes the battery was charged. This is probably the 10th rom i've tried with this phone. Any help out there?
Make sure you're trying to boot into download using the correct combo (Vol down + power + home buttons) use Vol up for recovery.
Make sure the file you downloaded is for US GS3 codename "d2att,d2tmo, or d2ca" and not anything international.
If you didn't flash anything international or from another phone you shouldn't be bricked.

Hmm, maybe I did flash the I9300 one, but even so. Why would that mess with my recovery/download?
The I9300 flash contains a kernel specific to I9300, not I747 or I747M...

Because the international versions hardware is COMPLETELY different than US version.
If you did flash international version you're completely out of luck, you're bricked and your phone is now a paperweight. Sorry bud.
Only thing that can bring it back to life is JTAG service.

Download Kies to get drivers then disable or uninstall kies so it doesn't disturb Odin. Flash stock ROM with Odin and you should be good to go. You'd need to get into download mode though on the phone. If you can't, I'd say you can only JTAG.
Course, I've never bricked my device. That's just what I gathered based on the little bit I just read up on. Good luck.

As stated by busarov, if your device is seen by your PC there is still hope!
Try Odin as many times as you can as long as your device is visible.
I've read its taken up to 5 times times for some users to get it to work after flashing international firmware.
Just don't use Kies. Since your device is rooted it will have problems. Stick to Odin.

There is not necessarily hope. The PC can still register a generic USB device on a hard brick. Unless the phone can be put into download mode, either by Volume Down + Home + Power or by homemade/purchased USB JIG, I'm afraid a JTAG is your only recourse.
Keep in mind if the device does not turn on at all, no vibrations, no flicker of light, even after a battery pull, and the only sign is a red LED turns on when plugged into the charger, the phone is hard bricked and will require a JIG (not guaranteed) or a JTAG.

Agreed, even though you flashed a Slimbean ROM, it was for the incorrect variant. Your thread title should be changed to reflect that, as it may cause new users to be fearful when flashing that ROM.

I have an international Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100, no modifications, no root, everything standard. It stopped working yesterday (see images), it won't boot past the 'Galaxy Note II' screen or charge properly. When I plug it in, it shows the battery image with a circle in it but no green filling.
What I've tried so far:
Taking it into recovery mode (Vol Up + Home + Power buttons), doesn't work and if I keep the buttons pressed it keeps boot-looping
Taking it into download mode works but if I restart from there it still doesn't boot
Using Odin to unbrick
Odin v18.5, v3.04 and v3.07
Multiple computers / USB ports / USB cables
Uninstalling / restarting / re-installing USB drivers
It either gets stuck on Setup connection
Or it fails and gives a 'there is no PIT partition' error
Or it fails and gives a 'can't open com serial port' errorIs there anything else I can try? Please help!

If flashing from odin works then good, also try it from different PCs.But if all fails then it may be bricked/sds.
If you have warranty remaining, then just take it to the service center and claim your warranty even if it is rooted/modified.If the phone is hardbricked/sds they wont know that you have modified it .

I'd still return it to the service centre. There's enough evidence of SDS being a design fault that you could argue that the device wasn't fit for sale in the first place and the expired warranty is irrelevant. Don't get angry just be firm and logical in your argument.
If you can't find a fix for it on xda take it to a service centre. If it's not under warranty but fixable they will just charge you for fixing it. That's better than having an expensive paper weight.

I tried all the home remedies I could think of and then I tried what people had suggested in this thread, all to no avail. Since you've already done a factory wipe/reset, there isn't much of a data recovery issue in your case. I would recommend taking it to the service center and claiming your warranty
