How is this possible? I've tried to read through a few tutorials for it, but they were mainly geared towards MetroPCS and I didn't fully understand it. Can anyone help me out?
not going to happen.
Boost = iDen network
They have a CDMA network through Sprint as well.
Anyone? I know it's possible since others are doing it, I just don't know how.
I've seen it done before, seriously no one is going to tell you how to do it, you'll have to search yourself, I've tried to do EVO on Verizon, it's been done, there is nobody who will give me a step by step because it's how you do you say not traditional to do this. Sorry man I am no help. just google it. you'll find better results.

Someone else was just asking about this. I posted a link to a guide there. That might get you started.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm not sure if that would work. That tutorial is several months old, and no one ever tried it for the Evo or as far as I can tell any Android phone.
Honestly, there is no easy way to do it. That link I gave you is by far the easiest way to do it, but like you said, no one has confirmed that it works on the EVO. The method is not OS specific however, so it shouldn't matter that you are using Android.
Since you are trying to get your EVO on Boost, I assume you already have a boost account, so why not try it? If you don't already have an account then you should probably give up because the cost and expertise required to do this might not be worth it to you.
If you are not afraid of highly technical and highly illegal work, then I suggest you start researching how to clone the esn of the boost phone you already own.
I do not own a boost phone yet, I'm interested in this because of the cheap pay as you go plans. .30c per day for unlimited data is pretty nice, in my opinion. As towards the cloning the MEID, IF I were to do this, would everything work correctly such as gps, web, voice, etc?
Everything should work correctly, except for some sprint apps, but I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure. From what I've read it won't work on pay as you go, you have to buy the $50/month unlimited plan.
Sprint ETF + Cheapest unlimited Boost phone = $200+80= $280
You would save $20/month with boost, so after 2 years the total savings versus keeping your Sprint account would be only about $200 max. Not worth the hassel in my opinion, but maybe having no contract is worth it to you.
Ah, that sucks. If I could get it on the pay as you go it would definitely be worth it.
Open the original phone in QPST (Service Programming)
Open the cloned phone in QPST (Serivce Programming)
Go tab by tab and try to match everything us as much as possible
if the cloned phone has a feature enable in Service Programming I've learned best to just ignore it and only clone everything from the original phone
Okay after that... what to do.. You need to get your HAA and AA keys copied over, I have the steps to do that as well in QXDM but the htc Hero doesnt seem to work with these steps or the vx9100 that I have... so the only way I can get it to work it to put a different phone on your network, then turn off the original phone and turn on the clone and then transfer the clone back on to your network, when you change the phone back and *228 it, it will write the Secret keys needed to get data,
and last but not least you need to get a prl that is made for your network. I have the latest prepaid prl for verizon.
If anyone can tell me how to fix my PRI that would be great!
Hey Guys,
I'm currently working on a guide for flashing a Incredible 2 to Straight Talk Service. I've hit a huge snag though. If anyone with experience with CDMA Workshop can PM it'd be greatly appreciated. When I get the phone completely flashed over I'll happily help anyone else flash their phone over I don't see paying 50 - 100 dollars for someone to flash it when I can figure it out and use the flashing cost to pay for service

Sorry I did not realize i had a reply to this posting. Well I know how to flash the straight talk prl to the phone and etc... I just can not get Incredible 2 to be recognized by CDMA workshop which is a major part of getting this phone running on Straight Talk, since straight talk doesn't allow phones other than their phone on the network.

Yeah, Ik the feeling bud I've been trying to get my phone running on Straight Talk for ages, as soon as I figure it out I'll help ya out!
Wish I could help because I'd like to do this as well. Hope you get the help you need.
I hope so too... cause the only other option for me in the area if i want to use my Incredible 2 is cricket and the service, stinks around here.
I hear you. The least expensive, seemingly reliable, option I have found is $50.
Yeah, and at least with straight talk its on verizon so we know it'll be reliable, it unlimited everything and we get verizon data speeds all at 45/month which is a lot better than the 103/month i was paying on verizon for 450 minute, unlimited txt, and unlimited data.
From what I gather reading about it, ST unlimited data on the $45 plan is actually capped at ~2GB.
An alternative on the Verizon network is PagePlus who announced they are upping the data on the $55 plan to 1GB beginning this month (was scheduled for the 18th but may have been pushed back to the 25th).
Edited to change the PP plan from $40 to $55/mo. Apologies.
Yeah even with it being capped off its still the best choice for the price, and even throttled speeds aren't to bad on ST.
I can probably help you guys out if you are still interested. I do not have the incredible 2, but I have done this with another android phone.

Has anyone figured this out? I currently am using my Droid INC 2 on straight talk and am able to send / receive texts calls and all that but cannot get 3g. Anyone able to help me out?

Sometimes it takes 72 hours to get 3G, IME. Are you using a 3G capable donor phone? If so and you wait that long and still don't have it, call ST support and tell them you aren't getting 3G speeds, without mentioning the swap of course...
I'd hate to revive a month old thread but I did come across this guide for flashing it for Cricket. If someone could adapt it for StraightTalk that would be awesome!

I'm getting about sick of the Verizon service in my area. I'm about to can my contract for good, but I like my DInc2 a lot. I'm running cm9 4.0.4 and its truly incredible now. Does anyone know if the straight talk sim cards will work with the GSM radio in thus phone on any rom?
I'm tempted to get one to try buy I just wonder if someone already has...
it will work just fine for text and talk but the internet will be slow because the phone get only 2G Edge so that's the only problem if u don't care about the speed it will be fine for u
I have the Droid Incredible 2 Global on the Straight talk Network through the Sim Card.
The only problem is I can only get Edge network. Any ideas on how to get the 3G?

No ROM is made for Sprint because the DInc community is primarily on Verizon. However, you can try the port of the EVO Classic, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399512&highlight=classic
It might have some Sprint stuff leftover.

When the GB OTA first dropped it had a few Sprint remnants, the market had a Sprint link instead of a Verizon link and the build prop listed the wrong screen size and had a few mentions of Sprint. Verizon eventually fixed the issues and all the dev's updated their ROM's so finding that first original OTA will be tough as no one is around anymore and really not worth finding as it had so few Sprint things in it anyways.

Wait are you saying you want to use the incredible with sprint service, or use the incredible with vzw service but a sprint phone ported rom?
To the best of my knowledge the htc incredible will not work on sprints network, as the inc is a cdma phone and the sprint network is gsm. I could be wrong about that though.
If you want to use a sprint ported rom, your bes bet would be to learn how to use android kitchen and port a sprint rom of your liking to the inc. Its not likley any already ported ink rom arround has all the correct things needed to run on the sprint network.

No clue on getting it to work on Sprint, and I haven't personally seen any sprint ROMS. I'm surprised you were able to get it working on sprint. i thought they checked for ESNs before activating it. Perhaps fool around with the APN settings.

you didnt tell me you were getting into this
only the 1x will work no 3g
but its not a bad little setup
its similiar to doing a boost flash if you dont have access to the secret stuffs
use opensesamedoor method
CDMA WS paid will give you some stuff too
you also wanna grab the profile 0 and 1 AAA and HA keys with DFS
once thats done you can slap them on your "fashed" Inc and get her done
man
you gotta PM me more often about this stuff i Love it
BTW
you should just go with the dinc2 you can set that up on sprint in about a hour
What did you need to do to get sprint service working?
I have an old incredible and LG ally that I would love to be able to activate on Sprint in the event that I manage to brick my epic 4g touch (which is an imminent possiblity what with the unsafe recoveries we have available...) were you able to do this solely from home or did you need to get a Sprint tech involved?
All the Sprint and Verizon techs I spoke to about this said that they are not allowed to activate off-network phones, and that their jobs aren't worth me having a cheaper phone (can't really blame them.)

I haven't seen this done yet, may be easier to just but a Sprint one.
Your issue will be the radios Verizon goes off a different bandwidth. And unless you get the developer edition, you have to deal with the locked boot loader bs.

Hi all,
I have been guided to this section regarding my Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy SIII because it's model number indicates it operates through Sprint. It is a SCH-S960L. I have had it for about a week. Came with 4.1.2. Does anyone have any information on how I can root this phone? I have searched everywhere and can't find any solid info about it.
I thank you ahead for any guidance you can give!

Rooting for all S3 is pretty much the same. Yes the S3 through straight talk runs on sprint.... if you rooted, did you use a rom?
I bought my wife and daughter these phones through straight talk. The box had the red verizon map on it, and the network type is LTE/ cdma. I'm on regular verizon and can get LTE, but they can't.They stay on 3g most of the time. Sucks. But I am curious if you were able to find a rom to run after you rooted it? I'm not really satisfied with straight talk service. Family seems to have a lot more dropped calls than me. Anything that can make these phones more bearable would be nice.

Straight Talk doesn't "run" on T-mobile. Straight Talk is a Tracfone service, which depending on the specific device, runs on a variety of towers through a variety of companies. Verizon and At&t are the most commonly used towers.
Well, I finally gave up and put my family back on Verizon. Weird thing was when vz sales rep was swapping numbers, he put the straight talk phone info into the computer and it said the phone was using sprint and some verizon variant network for data.
Was wondering if anyone has ever found a rom to run on this phone. Friend wants the phone, but rooted.

Yeah, I'll probably just sell it to him and be done with it. It's a shame straight talk didn't work out for me. Might have better coverage in a city. But where I live, it's crap.
Now on Verizon
The FIRST GS3 offered by Straight Talk WAS on the Sprint network. But after S/T got absolutely blasted by upset customers (and POTENTIAL customers) they finally pulled their heads out of their butts and now they offer a CDMA-V variant...that's VERIZON for those who don't know the codes. There is a code on the lower left corner of the packaging that will say CDMA-S (Sprint), CDMA-V (Verizon) and GSM which will be either T-Mobile or AT&T (not sure of the codes after the GSM as I'm not familiar with those, but the person in electronics would (should) know if you ask).
So now you can have one of the best phones on the market, behind only the S4, on Verizon's network. I got this phone the day after the Black Friday sales, and it still rang up at the sale price of $299. I was prepared to pay the regular price of $399 so you can imagine my surprise and delight when it rang up at the sale price. So what if it only has 3G. I constantly hear people complaining about this fact, so they can either have their 4G LTE on Sprint and get no coverage, or have a contract and pay 3 times what I pay, or have one of the best phones out there with 3G and $45 a month for everything unlimited on the best network with no contract. The choice seems obvious to me. And I'm an ex-Verizon contract customer. Our bill was just too high. I'm happy to pay more for a phone with no contract.
Now, hopefully somebody can answer my question...would it be the same process to root this phone as the one on the Sprint network? Is there any possibility you could screw up your phone with no chance of recovery? I would like to root my phone but I do not want to be in a situation where I'm looking at my phone with a blank screen and no way to recover, or it won't turn on or it changes to Japanese...etc...you get what I'm asking. If there's any risk I'm not going to do it, it just wouldn't seem worth it to me. But if it's something that it works or doesn't and no in between then I would like to try it. Thank you for any advice.
Wow! Great advice
