do you think we can get some 4.2.2 love?
hopefully we do. i mean we are still stuck on 4.1.1
i just want the new camera stuff and a new lock screen.
the rest eh, not so important.
As soon as a system dump or factory images are released I'm sure people will try to port it. Not sure how the ppi of the s4 will effect such things though.

My camera (the one you said you want LOL) is pretty much fine.
As to multi window with as many taps as it takes to bring up an app in a half sized window I can use recents to bring up in full screen any app I have used recently right where I left off. Many apps don't even work in multi window and honestly if I wanted to use apps in a half sized screen I would have bought an old BlackBerry Bold LOL.
All that said I had 3 Nexus devices b4 this phone. I like the Google experience. To each his own.
But like I said if you want something other than an S4 buggy port... Will be a while.

Basic marketing. Yes 5.0 is coming out but the Note 3 will not have it. Google puts their newest OS on a new Nexus device. The Note 3 is probably in testing now in a basement at Samsung. Samsung will use the updated OS (4.2.2) as a selling point to get people to buy Note 3s.
How long did it take the S2 to get Jelly Bean?
As to watching a you tube video while texting... I would never do that and I don't watch videos while driving LOL.

Apparently, the S3 was in development since early-2010 as per what one of the co-CEO's said the day other day. I'm sure the Note 4 is already in development and the Note 3 is more or less near the end of its development phase. Marketing 101, Samsung will release the Note 3 when the time comes and after all feature bugs are mostly resolved.

I am addicted to this game and really want to know if it works with the Note II. It doesn't work with the S3 but this might just be an ICS issue. Both devices have the same GPU, but the Note II ships with JB.
If you could install it and see if it loads and what not that would be great! The only real downside is that after you install it and launch it, there is a 20 minute download. The game really is amazing though... :good:

I have a Galaxy Nexus ( on Jellybean ofc ) and it shows as not supported ( probably due to Jellybean ), so my guess would be it won't work on Galaxy Note II , though some1 should try and reply here.
Since it's a free game anyway, you could always find the apk somewhere and try the hard way xD

Yeah, that's the game but I also have the Nexus and it works just fine on JB. Granted, I am using jakeday's Jelly Belly rom but I don't see why it wouldn't work on the stock...? Also, I don't have an issue downloading it from the play store.
The closest test I can come up with is that there are reviews on the play store that say the S3 doesn't work with the game (and the S3 has the same GPU as the Note II). However, the S3 is also running ICS so that might be the issue... that's the big thing that iOS has going for it, you don't have these huge compatibility issues.
Anyway, if someone with the Note II could try to download this game, let it install, and test it out I would greatly appreciate it!
Bump.
One last bump now that the note II is out...
I have been wondering for a while , how many % of the users in here use aosp based roms (like aokp cm9/10 etc ) and the rest of them using TW based roms , is there a decent percentage of SGS3 owners interested of having the tabletui running on there tw based rom .. or not .
if anyone wonders how tw tablet ui looks you can have a look at screenshots allover the web from the newest tablet from samsung ..
of course without a device in hand its pretty hard for me to do this , not only i know i can do this but I would if i had one thats for sure .
im very happy with my note and do I do not intend on switching phone anytime soon, still under contract for 2 + years makes it pretty ridiculous for me to buy a 600 + deving phone .
So lets not get carried away here (ie trolls keep out) , all i m asking here is, is there need for this type of mod on this device ?
if so then we can start looking into how to make this work .
Sounds very interesting but I am going to get Note II soon and that will be my primary device going forward. A month+ ago when the specs for the LTE Galaxy Note II was not available, I would have been interested...
I personally have no interest in a tablet UI on my GS3 - however, I know there are surely some folks out there who would jump at the chance! What would be the advantage of a tablet UI on a 4.8" screen?
I personally don't see the need for tablet mode on the GS3. The screen is just too small to put it to good use. The Note is a different story however.
coming from a GNOte... and specially from one of ur Roms DAGr8 i would love to have a TW Tablet mode
I just started playing around with paranoid android and I do like the tablet mode for the workspace with the back and home buttons on the bottom bar with the notifications, I dont have to reach as far to hit the back button. If I could have something similar but with all the bells and whistles of touchwiz I would be in.

Never was a big fan of TW on the GS2 although I must say it's much nicer on the GS3. I always end up using a different launcher anyways if I stay on a TW rom. I usually prefer PA for the tablet UI and AOKP for certain other features. Your KingKang looks pretty sweet, maybe you could bring that over?

Bump. I'm looking for this too.
EDIT:
I did a bit of researching, and I couldn't find anything. In my opinion your best option is installing a ParanoidAndroid ROM (based off CM10 or AOKP depending on which you like) and then a TouchWiz theme.
You should be able to find a ParanoidAndroid ROM in your device's thread.
Here's the link to the TouchWiz theme: http://www.mrmad.net/mrmaddon-jellywiz-edition-fur-galaxy-nexus-2208, scroll down and download the "TouchWiz Jelly Bean Addon 1.3.3" and flash in CWM.
Until someone releases REAL TouchWiz tablet UI, this is all we got.
Is use paranoidkangdroid, a mashup between aokp and paranoidandroid. And I personally love having a tablet ui. Especially apps like Gmail and YouTube are much better in tablet mode. It would be interesting to try out a tw tablet ui for this phone, as I do miss some of the touch wiz features. Like the camera and s beam. I would definitely download it if you were to make one

I would love a tablet UI for the S3, especially if I have the option of moving between phone UI (even TW) and tablet UI...that would be sweet.
Hello there peeps, I'm an X Note I user, really enjoyed the experience until my phone got broke heh! And then I bought an S3, my current phone. Im currently running CM10 on my S3, runs good, but because of the close sourcing of the Exynos processor, its still not THAT smooth as it should be. But my taste always is a bigger screen, so I want to get back a Note II. I highly DOUBT that Im ever gonna use Touchwiz....
So the question is, will the Note II get a hands on from Teamhacksung? And we'll get an official support from CM10?
Besides, Samsung has finally decided to give devs some documentation of its Exynos4 source !
Replies would be appreciated as I'm considering to buy the Note in few days, still not so sure! Hope you can help
The current CM team isn't touching any future exynos devices besides the S3 and the Tab if im correct. But if someone new want to come in and start developing for the Note 2 than it would be possible, which we already have a few members here working on CM10 for the note 2 and made some progress. CM10 in the works
Don't expect any official support for CM tho on the Note2..
Running a AOSP build just goes against everything the Note 2 was meant for

because it uses a older processor than the new Note 2 and GS3 (Exynos 4210) we use Exynos 4412, the GS2 even have problems with CM and other aosp roms. (Didn't some of your roms the menu button didnt work?)
Also the US version of the Note 1 came with a snapdragon processor..
Samsung just don't want to release the right docs for the Exynos line. you can build a AOSP rom for the note 2 it just would be a a$$ to get everything fully working with out the sources you need.
Reb0rn and simone are both working on an unofficial CM10 for the note 2, and I believe Entropy said if they get it working and all their gerrit **** is OK there's no reason for it not to be made official with them as the maintainers.
I may be wrong about that last bit though, it's best to just go read that thread.
I believe cm10 is a downgrade from the stock software. Multitasking for example separates this phone from the rest. Never thought that I'll say a phone out of the box better suits my needs than cm10, aokp, or paranoid. Sorry

To help people make the decision between AOSP based ROMs like AOKP and Touchwiz based ROMs like Jedi, I thought it would be helpful to have a reference. Each list only includes features that aren't in the other types of ROMs. Please comment to help me add things I missed or fix things I got wrong. I've been researching a lot, but my Note 2 is shipping right now and I haven't had an opportunity to try ROMs out. Consequently, I may need to be corrected on some things. I'll update this post regularly.
AOSP:
4.2 Jelly Bean
- new clock
- different users
- lockscreen wigits
- users
- bug fixes
nabvar option (AOKP & CM)
Expand Desktop (AOKP & CM)
Physical Button alternate functions (AOKP & CM)
theme chooser
Touchwiz:
MultiView
S-Pen Features
SmartStay
Aokp is great rom but will eliminate features of samsung.
I have expanded desktop through my launcher on touch wiz. I believe this day and age, one should know the differences between touchwiz and aosp, especially if your rooting.

I've been a big fan of AOSP ROMs for a long time. However, I'm sold on TW ROMs now - Samsung has done remarkable job polishing and tweaking their TW and I really enjoy it. #snote #paperartist #camera to name my best reasons for TW. Plus Quadrant scores are always much higher - not a big deal, but still...
While I love AOSP and how clean it looks, loosing so many S-pen features isn't worth it.
I use Nova to bring back as much of the AOSP experience as I can.
As for the 5-row keyboard, I'm pretty sure you can get that with Perfect Keyboard or even Swiftkey so it's really not a feature of the TW rom.
You failed to mention a few things for AOSP
The ability to use theme chooser with 100s of themes and not have to flash them
all the new features and bug fixes in 4.2.2
Not having to flash many mods that are only available by flashing in TW

You could probably just flash them both and see which one you like more. For me, the only thing I miss in cm from touch wiz is the stock music player. It outshines most on the market in my opinion.
Other than that, touch wiz is whatever for me. If you can't live without the music player (I can live without it) and the s pen gestures, and don't mind an occasional big here and there, then try cm.

The international base note2 is Touch Wiz
I know what he is saying. TW is a Samsung product. If other TMO phones have WiFi calling that are not TW/Samsung then WiFi calling on TMO is due to TMO code not TW code. Does not matter much really but I do not think WiFi calling has anything to do with TW firmware if it did the International version could be modded to work and it cannot.

What's your favorite ROM today and why? Which ones have you tried and why are you on your current one vs another and do you think you you may switch back to another?
My personal experience:
CM 13 - I've tried a few versions, all seem a little buggy for one reason or another. It's been awhile so I don't remember what I had problems with.
I'm currently on PaulPizz, not the latest 8/14 version, but the one before that (7/24??).
I'm curious about the Note7 Grace port and what it brings to the table vs PaulPizz, and if it's actually buggy or not.

Note 7 Grace port is my favorite so far. It lets you experience the most recent version of touchwiz. and it has a working theme store. After using similar S7 ports based on the international version of the Note 4, the Note7 Grace port in my opinion is the best option we have for our phone.
As for the comparison I would say PaulPizz is more stable and gets a better battery life. Can't go wrong.
Note 7 Grace port has the newest version of Touchwiz, including theme store, and can be used as a daily driver. For me the only thing to be desired is a better battery life.
I haven't tried CM13 because I can't lose my SPen features.

I have to cast my vote for JasmineROM v7.0
IMO it's the cleanest and most stable TW ROM. I'd love to see an update (it's been over 2 months, let's get those security patches updated!), but it's extremely stable. It's not debloated, but @hsbadr wisely chose to leave that to the user, as everyone's needs/wants are different.
I know he's focusing on the CM base these days, but, IMO, there are (and I feel, for Sammy devices, always will be) things that CM doesn't do as well as TW. I've tried CM ROMs over the years many times, and have found ways to use the SPen, etc. but always come back to TW. The only exception I've found to date is on the 6P with Pure Nexus, but I am not sure I'd feel the same way if that device also had an SPen.
For me, at the end of the day, the most important thing a mobile phone must do consistently and reliably, is be a phone. I can't risk hot booting or freezing, or having other call/contact/record features not function 100% reliably, and solid reliability is definitely something Jasmine delivers.
I noticed that on PaulPizz, after several minutes of usage, Snapchat, specifically, my screen is hot and I get a cooling down message in my notification area. I'm not on the latest PaulPizz, I think the date is 7/24, not sure if that makes a difference or not. But, is this problem related to the ROM, Snapchat or just overusing my phone?

I'm not on the latest PaulPizz, I think the date is 7/24, not sure if that makes a difference or not. But, is this problem related to the ROM, Snapchat or just overusing my phone?

One way to know for sure if it's the ROM - make a full TWRP and flash JasmineROM v7.0 - set it up and let it shake out for the first day, then see if by the second day you're still seeing the same thermal issue. I can say I use my phone quite a bit and it only ever gets really hot if I clear cache and it goes through 10 minutes of "optimizing", but I've never once seen a notification about cooling down.
Bonus: You may decide you really like Jasmine and wind up sticking with that. Make a full backup after you configure it, then you could switch back and forth at will.

Have you tried PaulPizz or the Note 7 port?

No, I did read the OPs for both and saw some known issues, which speaks to the reliability/robustness I cited above. Maybe some or all of those issues are worked out now, don't know? But, I'm very happy on JasmineROM, and I have next to zero time to experiment. I can say on my Nexus 6P, I am absolutely loving the PureNexus ROM with substratum for theming. The Nexus 6P is a fine device, much faster than the Note4 (as is my wife's Note 5) but, the Note 4 has a better screen, and of course, the SPen, and I'm still one to really want/require a removable battery. I've come around to the absence of a microSD slot (the 6P doesn't have one), because with USB C and OTG, it's just as good. I'd love the Note 7, but, putting aside the insane cost, has no removable battery, I'm not sold on the gimmicky edge, and, even though perm root was just achieved, still no unlock for the bootloader, so no TWRP [yet?]
That all said, maybe the fall's new Google phones (HTC) will be promising (New Android Central story says Google is dropping the Nexus branding)
cm13 is all I've used since I rooted, and I'm very happy with it. I don't get why someone would prefer touchwiz unless they reallllyyy need full s-pen functionality. am I missing something?

I tried Grace and pauls and they are nice but i went back to CM13.. not a giant fan of near stock roms with verizon stuff still in them since i don't use verizon.
I just rooted my Verizon Note 4 a few days ago. Still going through the process of setting up stock 5.1.1 the way I want it so I can make a backup of it before I mess around with ROMs and Kernels. What's the best ROM/Kernel that will let me make use of the S pen and Note 4 capabilities? I heard about a note 7 ROM but it's a little overwhelming with all the options out there. I just need a good place to start. Right now I have a system only 5.1.1 firmware and oscar_kernel-v2.0 running on my newly rooted note 4.

What is the Note 7 grace port? I tried doing a search for it and it just brought me to the Galaxy S6 forum. Does anyone have a link to a Note 7 UI ROM for the Note 4?

Just FYI, you need to basically do the process twice. Once you've unlocked to 5.1.1, find the safe upgrade to MM thread. You will need to unlock again. If you dont, then MM ROMS won't function correctly. I'm on mobile right now, but look in the same forum as the other ROMS, I believe.

Hi guys, for those running TW based roms - what options do I have for themes? I have issues with my vision and can't tolerate white backgrounds. I use CM based roms primarily to get white text on solid black themes.
For apps I know I can use TBO
in the past I've installed Layers Manager and only applied themes to apps which worked ok
I've tried one or two TW based LP roms on my SM-910F but flashable themes don't seem to work and I haven't seen how well the ported Note 5/6/7 roms work with Samsung's theme store and I doubt they apply their themes to other apps like Layers can?
At the moment I have a pretty solid setup with CM12.1 and themes and it's eye friendly but I'm hoping if someone here might have a TW based rom that's fully or almost fully white on black
Stock VZW/Samsung Marshmallow rom. I needed 100% stability, no faffing about to get it running and configured, for GearVR.
Jasmine was the closest thing to what I needed, but too much fiddling - even J6.0/Android5.1.1 was too much work to deal with.

I've been using Android since 1.6 Donut on an HTC Magic. I got a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant on release day and fell in love with Touchwiz instantly. I tried a couple of different devices since (HTC myTouch 4G Slide, LG Optimus G Pro) but I always came back to Samsung. My most recent non-Sammy was the Droid Turbo 2 - I loved the hardware, but I hated the software overall. I am not a fan of Google's version of Android. I pick Samsung phones because of the combination of hardware and software. TW/Nature/Grace does so many things right for me. Google Android doesn't. Everybody has different preferences. Touchwiz just works for me.
