Hi guys,*
Just completed the touchstone induction charging mod on my s3.in all the tutorials, I see a pop up notification stating that charging has commenced. When I place mine on the puck, and charging starts but no message. Am wondering why this is so.*
I am stock unrooted on sprint.*
Also, it does get a little warm. I can feel the warmth all the way to the touch screen. My evo was thicker and maybe that's why the heat never made it all the way to the front. Just wondering if anybody else who has done the mod also has their phone get warm.
Any and all help is much appreciated.*

ooops, sorry. my bad.
Consider yourself lucky. My problem is that the wireless charge notification (with alert tone) occurs every single time the wireless charge restarts -- i.e. every time the phone stops charging at 100%, drops to 99% and begins to charge again = new tone. It is extremely annoying. I posted this thread but no solutions.
If you can see the battery icon indicate charging, then its working. I'll swap problems with you anytime.
Oh, and yes, it gets scary hot, front and back. Not sure what's up with that.
I've successfully done this mod. No notification when you wirelessly charge. If anyone wants it, PM me.
Thanks for the reply guys. Must be firmware specific to then.

Look above you. PM freeza and all your problems are solved.
EDIT: Whoops sorry, overlooked the OP. Are you on a custom rom? The rom might just have it disabled if you are on a custom one

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forums and in general new to rooting my phone. Last night I after a long policy of not rooting or touching my phone outside of what is approved figured what the heck I will try it. I rooted my HTC Hero (not an active phone anymore) than my HTC Evo. I had a few questions and I did my best to try and search.
I learned that our phones keep a battery stat. One of the things I do is when one battery goes completely dead instead of charging that one I switch it to another battery which is full and then place the now low battery in my hero to charge. I charge my evo and then repeat the process as needed. If I go on long car trips (I travel sometimes) and I use the Sprint Nav or something else I will switch out the battery as it heats up. I have about 3 batteries that I try to swap on during long car rides.
My questions are I hope not something been asked before and I just missed it.
Does swapping the battery around like that end up causing problems for my phone?
Also I am curious about the battery temp. If the battery gets a little hot (or the phone itself) I will sometimes take the phone and place it in front of my AC vent when I am in the car. Anything bad about this?
If I missed something in the search please let me know. I would like to not upset anyone.

No it really doesn't cause problems. I do the same thing.
As far as cooling it that way, done that too. Nothing wrong with keeping it cool.
Thats what I figured. I have been messing and doing this for a while. Was just curious if anyone else who may know more than I on this subject felt differently. One of the best things I think in the community is being able to ask for others more expert knowledge. Thanks again for responding. I do appreciate it.
So I have an unlocked Galaxy Nexus, and this problem just recently started happening. It shows the charging symbol (lighting bolt) on the battery, even when it's unplugged. It cycles from charging to not charging every few seconds, and that keeps waking it up. So even if I press the sleep button, it wakes shortly after and then stays on.
Any ideas what could have caused this, and what to do to fix it?
Thanks.

This happened to me on my verizon galaxy nexus, verizon stated it was a problem with the actual port either due to humidity or just form plugging and unplugging i went and they gave me another one under warranty so if you have warranty i recommend doing the same thing
There's a couple of threads on this subject already, read several pages back on q&a. Issues with dust, bending of the pins, etc of the usb port.
Search harder next time. Thanks.

While I understand that you're trying to lessen the amount of repeat questions on here, I don't see the point in posting that. You basically just came in here told me that the answer to my question is out there somewhere, and that I should look harder for it. Gee thanks.
And while I did briefly look on a few pages for any similar problems, surely you can understand that sometimes it's a little more practical to just make a new thread. I mean c'mon, how could I possibly know that this question has indeed already been asked, and even moreso what exactly to search to find it. I feel like searching "battery charge problem" or something similar will likely lead to more results than just the problem I'm having.

this is a known issue with the gnex.. i dont think there is any solution
I have a weird problem.
I got my Note 2 for about 3 months, but so far I have not experienced this with the charging LED indicator. Today while charging, sometimes the LED faded out to let say 70% than it came back shining as usual, and in between while the LED on, there were tiny flashes, almost unnoticeable. It does randomly.
Is this normal, or it has to do something with may phone/battery? Or is the electricity unstable in my home?
Regards,
ved
This could be related to the lighting around the phone. The phone's charging LED auto adjusts itself to the lighting in the area.
It may be, but the lighting condition where I left my phone charging was basically the same... However I have found some theards with the same problem and those guys say that it is bug in the current operating system.

I have the same weird issue any help please???????????
No one ever seems to respond much about hardware issues on the note 2 forum but I'm going to give it another go. Started out a few weeks ago with major battery issues resulting from what I think caused it, was an overheating issue. (fell asleep laying on it charging and screen lit for about 6 hours) The phone started by shutting off when the levels were anywhere from 20-50%. Since then I've tried 3 new OEM batteries and swapped to a different working charge port flex. I jumped from cymod to the skynote rom before swapping out hardware parts and it seemed to make a difference at first but didn't last long. Since going to skynote, I've tried running with greenify, juice defender and no power saving at all. Tried normal performance and tweaked performance. The other night I had my phone off and charging and it reached 100% on the power down indicator, when booting the phone up, the status bar battery indicator said 81%. The next night my phone actually stayed on, or atleast displayed what I felt was the proper percentage, down to 1%. When the indicator went from 2% to 1% I received a notification to unplug my charger, that my battery was full...the charger was not plugged in when receiving this and as soon as I finished reading the notification, the phone shut off again. I am at a loss because I have no idea what's causing this. I own an electronic repair shop and have no problems soldering new charge ports on if needed but I'm starting to think there is another controller on the daughter board which may control the communication between battery and phone. Any ideas?? Anyone....hello

#1. You title of your question isn't cool, I don't care if your pissed off. Remember there's kids that come here for info and to learn!! No one here caused your PROBLEMS... self inflicted wounds...
#2. If someone didn't answer your question probably means we didn't see it or just been busy and it got over looked!
#3. We try to help each and everyone with a problem...
#4. Now to you problem:
First off yes it's VERY BAD to smother any device (6 hours ouch) that's constantly running. Especially with a battey power, being if the device isn't breathing it's gonna over heat. It's kinda like blocking the radiator on your car while your racing down the highway. What do you think it going to HAPPEN problems!!
You mentioned a few battery monitoring apps! [emoji107][emoji107][emoji107]
Get away from those apps cuz most of the time they're wrong or reading the battery level wrong! I'd recommend BBS go here»»» http://goo.gl/0TeXcR
But from your post seems something in the phone, might be something minor got over heated to much which is causing your problems.

You need to recalibrate your battery. You can figure out how thats done. And you probably cooked your silicon.

The only one that ever offered anything that wasn't a typical response to someone who knows nothing about gadgets, was steele. As many times as the posts were viewed and only getting one response, which most of the time was an unrelated answer, is pretty sad. When noobs have questions about flashing a rom, there are always 30 people there ready to tell them or berate them, when there are countless forums out there to find their own answer. And no, only two posts had answered my hardware questions and the replies were not any kind of a valid response. I apologize for assuming anyone here had experience with internal components. How about instead of responding like a troll, you change my mind and actually teach me something if you're so qualified to give tech support.

Thanks for your input, but I'm looking for the contoller that would have been damaged. Do you know of a motherboard breakdown link, where I could find out which ics controls charging/battery/phone communication or shutoff. I've soldered new contollers in iphones before and I'm assuming there has to be a similar part which controls current shutoff in the galaxy line. Thanks again.

Thanks. I've done the calibration a couple times with new batteries and flashed quite a few roms on and off. I'm pretty sure something is cooked, but most of the time, if the ics can be identified it can be replaced with a new one. I'm looking for a motherboard breakdown of all soldered parts and a legend to go with it. ifixit is where I usually go, but can't seem to find the exact breakdown of what part controls current flow and shutoff.
Xda is mostly about tweaking the phone software and very seldom about the hardware, and rarely about the ic components. Sorry that your question is several paygrades above my skillset.
I have replaced the mainboard for about $80. But of course you already thought about that.
I think that sort of info would be proprietary info, that Samsung would not publish out to just anyone. Unless that specific piece was patented.
I can see them not giving a damn about older models of phones whose technology they would not reuse. But Galaxy stuff in production, I would imagine they would go after someone's scalp that had it.
For info like that I usually grab whatever numbers I see on the board, throw them in every search engine I can think and hope something pops up.

You probably hit the nail on the head with that. It's just so frustrating when I know it can be fixed if I could just figure out which part got fried. Usually soldering a new charge port fixes a lot of hardware glitches when it comes to connectivity or charging/decharging, but of course on this phone it's not happening. Thanks steele

They have a little Contact Us applet that pops up on the bottom of the screen. Hopefully you get lucky and they reply back to your question.
It's a long shot since it's their business to do the work for you.

I'm on stock Rom & have the LG wireless charging Dock & using the plug/cable that came with the phone & I have to say it's the most annoying wireless charging experience I've ever had.
The G3 constantly lights up the screen while charging, either to tell me it's a slow charge & i need to use the LG cable & plug or it's telling every 2 to 3 % it's charged up.
It gets to 92% and it's lighting up & making all kinds of sounds every god damn % it charges.
What's going on with the G3?
Anyone else getting this problem & how to fix?
I got the same setup but don't have any problems with it at all.
That's strange than. I wonder why my set up is causing so much trouble?
Same setup here and I got those annoying pop ups too, I've simply disabled those notifications in TweaksBox and the device charges perfectly all the same. You may find the option to disable without being rooted but I have no idea how.
Edit: where did you purchase your dock from?
The problem is likely to be your placement on the charger, the G3 seems very very picky about where it sits on QI chargers.
If you have it placed in a spot that is on the boarder between a good placement and a bad it will keep switching between slow charging and regular charging and will make various bleeps (and the screen turning on) every time it switches.
If you get the placement correct the screen will only come on and it will only make a noise when you first start charging and when the battery reaches 100%.
If you keep it on the charger for a long time, like all day it will start to discharge once it reaches 100% then will beep etc when it starts to charge back to 100% again.

This is my first LG so not 100% confident about rooting it yet. But unsure about returning it to stock should I need to.
Fair enough, (my first LG too, lol, they make a great washing machine but I was a mobile sceptic) however it is a very simple process, take your time and do some reading there's really a myriad of possibilities being rooted thanks to awesome ppl here. Anyway just wanted to let you know there is a way stop those notifications and for me charging is almost as fast as USB, also positioning didnt seem to matter with the notification pop ups so thats a bit weird but of no concern.
Elsewhere someone mentions to be sure and use a 2A power adapter, that even 1.8 gave them the issues you describe

Possibly, however, the official literature states "Use LG G3 transformer" so it should be okay and besides I get very quick charge times despite the notifications and now lack there of.

I have tried both a 2A & the 1.8A that comes with the phone - I get the same annoyance with both.
To have to Root to successfully wireless charge a phone with no problems is crazy.
