A pc, i googled, searched here, etc but couldn't find anything. Any way to root this without a computer, d710 sprint version?
I've rooted with a pc for this phone but it recently went down, and i got a replacement et4g. So now I'm on fl24 and want to root but don't have a PC...
I know chainfire has one for the other versions but not d710... Please help if there is.. I tried searching again lol

PC meaning Windows PC, or PC meaning computer period? I've used heimdall with success if you're lacking windows.
If you don't have a computer, a quick Google search says you're screwed. There is a thread on the international section, but you can't use the files linked there. (unless you like hard bricked devices)
Your best bet is to borrow someone's PC for 20 minutes and install a one-click rooted ROM. Don't forget to download the drivers first.
If you just need to root try exnyos abuse. I'll look for the link
Edit: here's the link

just download, install, run exploit and you're golden. I've used the same process a few times in your situation

Exynos Abuse will not work on FL24.
You're right i thought it wasn't fixed until the jb builds.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Nope. That's the main reason the pushed an OTA update to FL24 from FI27.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Well fart sniffers, i didn't think there was a way and ya, i had already tried exynos before this thread with no luck... O well thought I'd ask.. Thanks everyone who posted
Get your PC up already, your creating a strain in the brain.
Lol.
Pp.
Transmitted from another galaxy with a Jellybean infused P-5113 full of Unicorn porn.
What you can do is download with your phone an original Rooted OTA of FI27 make sure it goes to your external SD card. Rename that zip file to "update' and make sure you keep the .zip extension and then boot into recovery. Go to install update from SD card and go through the steps. It will install the full FI27 ROM with stock recovery. It will be rooted. Then you can go to the play store and get an app called OTA Root Keeper. Use that to keep your root while you update back to FL24 and then restore root with the same app. No computer needed. Also, you can use a fully stock no root OTA of FI24 and then use exynos abuse to root with.
As always, make sure you back up all the crap you want to keep.
Or you can get a full OTA FL24 zip file that is rooted and then do what I said before in reference to downloading it on your phone, making sure it is on your external sd card, re-naming to 'update' and then going into recovery to flash it.
I can't find any ota zip that are rooted, do you have a link?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
It should be either in the stickies of the general or the development section. You can flash as is in odin without a name change.

This might help. http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.php?dir=Files/Devices/Samsung Galaxy S2 (Sprint) (SPH-D710)/
I suggest reading the stickies in the general and development threads before proceeding with any flash though. Just so you are familiar with any and all things well... Most things. If you have any questions, please do ask. I may not be able to answer, but there are many who can.
Oh... Grab mobile odin. Either through here or the market. Preferably the the market. Yeah it's a paid app, but it's worth it.
In the link, grab the ota/stock ROM you want in the '.gz' format. You will need to extract the file inside it to flash through mobile odin. It will not flash the modem. You can grab the modem from The website I linked though. Make sure you have at least 50% battery or it won't flash and your phone will just reboot.

Im just gonna go with odin cuz i have tried the fi27 ota wouldnt work it looks like its gonna install the the android guy falls down with a red triangle.
Doesn't mobile odin require root?

In your case just grab a one click from the website I previously linked. They are in the 'exe' format. You will need to be in download mode to use the one clicks. Read the stickies for more info on those.

Really, with my current battery problem, I want that network app thing. My question is, hasn't it been 6 weeks? If I don't get the OTA do I never get it?

There are plenty of ways to get the official update, not just OTA. Check the development section and you should be able to find the full installs of the officials or even the update.zips that people pulled when they got the OTA notice.

if you use just the update.zip, you won't lose data and you could just pull your sd card and put the zip on there, then update. Or use something like dropbox and pull it to your phone that way. Lots of options to avoid using USB.

He is talking about the Sprint Connection Optimizer. There is a stock deodexed FC09 ROM I put out in development as well as The People's ROM V2.2 which is FC09 with it included. If you want FC09 baseband you will have to try the flashable delta if you can't Odin it.

Unzip and put file into PDA in ODIN and flash away! If you need ODIN, it is attached below.
*WARNING* DO NOT CHECK RE-PARTITION OR ANYTHING ELSE. ONLY AUTO-REBOOT AND F. RESET TIMER SHOULD BE CHECKED.
If you need more information about this file and what it is/what to do with it, read the stickies at the top of this forum to learn more about ODIN and what it is used for. This file is provided mostly for people who like me who prefer to odin a stock rom and tweak it themselves. It will also prove INVALUABLE from here on out for when you need to unroot your phone (send into t-mobile/samsung, just want it un-rooted).
IF YOU WANT ROOT:
I also attached the latest superuser and CWM recovery for those who want to root.
Put the recovery.tar in the pda slot and flash for CWM recovery.
Then install the attached superuser inside CWM recovery to have full root!
FYI: It's a known issue that superuser usually does not "stick" on the first try. This is with ANY ROM for our phones. Just keep flashing it (usually 2 to 3 times)until it says installation complete.
THIS WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR DOWNLOAD/FLASH COUNTER (+)

Can't wait for your link, can I use CWM to flash? Is the firmware already rooted or
factory fresh one?
Wow you guys...just wow...

Will be factory fresh. Will be like any other stock rom, not rooted. Root it via odin like we have always done for all of our roms. I think it's best to just leave completely intact so we always have an option to get our phones back to 100% factory. The CW flashable zips and rooted custom roms are on their way.

Flash this via Odin only if you want an UN-rooted TMO ics. Wait for zipped ones as they will be rooted.
Noob here. I can't find this anywhere. I just flashed (or whatever you call it,) to UVALH3. With 4.1.1 came all the bloatware again that I had removed when I had the phone rooted. Is it possible to root UVALH3 as well? I can't find it anywhere. Do I just go ahead and ODIN the same file to do it or has there just been no safe way found yet for UVALH3? Thanks.

EDIT: Actually I'm not quite sure how to do this. Are you supposed to go into recovery mode and install from external? It gives me a signature verification error when I try that.
OP: for your own good don't do anything else at the moment. I'm on my phone and driving so I can't really help too much but for your own good don't do anything or else you might end up bricked. Make sure you get a reply before you continue. If you don't get one in the next few hours I'll post a reply and walk you through the steps. I can't right now though.
To the op, you need to get back to ics to root and flash the jellybean rooted rom(need a custom recovery)

Well that could have been absolutely horrible, I guess. I think I'll just wait until there is a method for rooting when I already have UVALH3
My friends has a gs3 he purchased on release day and rooted it. The past week he accepted two ota's which broke his root. So I'm trying to root it for him but here's where the confusion kicks in. On sprints website it actually show these updates are old and not new and there's two more recent ones he never got pushed to him. Right now the phone is on LG2 and won't update any further. What do I need to do to be up to date with root. Should I just look for a way to root this build or try updating it. By the way I haven't seen any root methods for this build which is why I'm asking. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds

The method he used to root it in the first place should work again. Try that.
Then once it's rooted again go to this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099
Download the file "LI3 STOCK WITH AUTO COUNTER RESET" in the first post and flash the file in recovery. That will put the phone to 100%stock, unrooted, on the latest build.
From that point, if he wants to, he can reroot the phone and install the latest TWRP recovery. After that, tell him not to accept any OTA updates. Come back here to the development forum and someone will have the update in flashable form so that root isn't lost.

Yup thats the most easy way of doing it. you say ur not rooted but do you have custom recovery? If so then re rooting before the flash wouldn't be necessary.
It will not wipe data however its recommended that you do. granted it will probably work just fine if it being installed over top of a stock Rom. Then to keep root/recovery just follow the instructions in the post

I'm not sure if he has a custom recovery but I'm assuming if he was able to accept ota's and install them fine he must have stock recovery. I'll have to check and see a lil later as he's at work now.

Yes it is stupid proof but it also makes you have to take an extra step to reset the count. On my phone I just deal with the Odin OC which don't mess with your counts and come rooted then mobile Odin for the rest. Never have to worry about a flash count. if you're rooted and have the CWM or TWRP recovery installed, get the updated ATT, stock, rooted ROM from the development forum, flash to your phone and you're done.
Plus you cant update if rooted. Use that same app to unroot and try updating again. Also put ur time n date a day or two ahead before trying to manual update. And I agree you should have asked the question in one of those "other" threads or in the right section "Q&A"

You can update with root as long as you have the stock recovery. The update is 100% going to break root, but that's not hard to fix. Recovery is the important part.
