I've seem to have worse cell reception when I flashed the newest LJC modem with liquid smooth rc2...And I've heard it's better with LJA so of course I want to flash it back. I have the folder from the stickies section and I have bought movie Odin pro so I was wondering how to properly flash the modem with it... I opened the md5 and it gave me the option to flash the kernel, cache, system, and the modem.. Should I clear the other 3 and flash just the modem or do all 4?
Thanks for whoever can help.

There should be a flashable .zip in the dev section with all the other modems. I'll grab it for you when I'm done with my dinner, if no else jumps in.

Flash in recovery, not Mobile Odin.
Hey Jack make sure you check out the map that is in Doc's Modem thread in post 2 I believe. It has points in the country where users hav put their modem, speeds and sometimes ROM/kernel combos too. It really depends on where you are at. For me, I get best reception with LI7 from the leaked ROM a few months ago and not the latest LJC.

Is there anyway to change the base band version by flashing a modem from cwm instead of using odin?
I'm having trouble connecting my phone to my computer and this happened after I went to eh 17 so I want to go to ec05
Anyone know if there is a flashable ec05 zip?
I may be wrong but I thought there actually was a flashable EC05 version because it wa an actual official release. I will dig around a bit and ask a few people. I am using EC05 modem on Gingerbread right now and its working very well for me

thanks a lot for your reply.
i was looking for it but cant find it. i honestly want any modem not nesesarily ec05 cuz if i could just get my usb to work which i think eh17 could b the problem i will just odin my phone to stock and do whatever i want to it
if you could help me find it it would really be appreciated.
and just something i thought of.. when ec05 came out it was released ota and in the "update.zip" way so if i could find the update.zip fild for it would it also change the baseband version or no?
Good question. I know the ReRFS ROM takes you back to stock EC05 but I am not sure if it switches the modem. I will check my copy and report back

No unfortunately it doesn't. But John it would be great if you found it. I think we both looked for this once before for somebody. There were older EC05 ROMs like Bonsai that would update your modem to EC05 but only if coming from EB13 or DK28.

I was looking last night and came across that rom. It didn't change the modem tho.
But something I just kind of figured out was I can flash froyo roms on a GB modem? I thought it wouldn't work. After I flashed the rerfs rom for ec05 I flashed syndicate rom and its working perfect now even tho I'm on a GB modem?
But still the computer won't connect to my phone.
I also tried using a different phone to make sure the usb does work and it worked on a different phone. I tried to see if my memory card might b the problem but no it wasn't. this rom I'm on now is good but I would like to odin my phone just to b safe then return to this.
And I'm just wondering did this happen to anyone else? Is anyone else running eh17 and having usb problems?

Another thing I was thinking about is the cwm flashable deodoxed eh17 modem. Would that change the modem or just the rom..? I had the same thing for ee03 I think it was but I deleted it since so many newer leaks came out. Do you think that would work?

can u give me a link to one of those roms id still like to just try it and see what happens
so just to make sure my prioblem wasnt from the usb cord i just bought a new one and still its not working.
im having issues with signal, ever since i got on ics fc07 and up im either constantly in roaming or not getting signal at all. when it says i dont have signal (circle with a slanted line in the middle) i try and make a call and it says "turn off airplane mode yes or no" but it isnt activated! any help would be appreciated, i wouldnt want to go back to gb nor earlier builds of ics
Flash the modems. In my opinion FC15 is the nest I've used so far. But it all depends on where you live. Just try flashing a bunch of different modems and see what works. Obviously the one your on now doesn't.
Sent from my iPhone killer.
I've seen that few times from FC07 but it never happens again from current FC15.
If you want to try, wipe all and apply Calk's format all then flash the rom & modem.
I think it would solve your problem. Let me know again, thanks.
Or just simply try FC15 modem and see how it goes...

yp yup. its doing the same thing as musclehead. says its flashing but afterwards just goes back to the homescreen.
its doing the same thing to me. im not sure if it matters but i did notice when i had superSU installed it wouldnt work but it was doing something different. after i uninstalled superSU and updated the binarny for the regular superuser.apk app it seemed to do an extra step that i dint notice it wasnt doing on prior tries. so if any of u are using superSU then uninstall it and see what i mean. maybe that can help us fig it out. cause i did notice at the bottom of superSU it says something about "injecting superSU"...sorry if my wording on that was confusing.
I noticed when I am using it to replace a stock kernel it doesn't reboot, but it does install kernel I wanted. I just manually reboot.

Worked fine for me to flash ACS FE16 kernel and the ones before. Try reinstalling?

This may not be not be helpful,
The same was happening to me but it was with modems, and it was several builds ago. I was stuck with FD19 (not a complaint, seeing as how that's the best modem for me so far)
It definitely is not an overall Mobile Odin thing, for me... when I couldn't install a new modem it wouldn't do it from the unlocked stock recovery either. It would SAY that it was. So I was thinking that it was a kernel issue.. Doesn't Mobile Odin make himself a copy of your current kernel to use a "flash kernel?'
Also, are you using "open file" with a .tar or are you placing the zImage directly in the kernel slot? I have noticed varying results when I do it differently.
As a temporary solution, download "Hc-kTool" from the market.
This app is also a must have. You can dump your current kernel, flash zImages, install update.tar packets with a zImage, modem.bin, and param.lfs, backup and restore EFS...
Just until MoOd is up and running for you this should hold you over.

I tried out FE10 (Sfhub) the other day, and tried to mobile Odin back to EL29 and it wouldn't work. I'm guessing its the same scenario as you're having on FE16. Everything works as normal, and then right after it says "flashing kernel", it just does nothing instead of rebooting and flashing like it should.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
I've noticed on some of the TW based roms when I would flash a kernel with mobile odin it just doesnt reboot the phone after flashing. I would then reboot into recovery and the kernel I had flashed would be there.
Try going into developers settings uncheck usb debugging it was doing the same thing for me and reboot.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Sometimes I'd flash a kernel threw mobile Odin. And it wouldn't do the reboot at first I thought it didn't work. And would do it over again but one day I I checked to see if the kernel was flashed regardless and it was good to go. Plus it still happens here and there and every time kernel still flashes great. :what:

Weird, I've always had HC-kTool as the name, oh well, it's a great app, by any name.
Also; I had the moble odin doing nothing issue, after you tell him what to do and he does nothing just immediately boot into recovery and he'll go about his business.

been flashing roms ok and kernals fine can't get the modems to change after flashing.

You should start at the ns4g modem thread..... everything you've asked here is answered there... except maybe going back to cllean gb... if on an ns4g modem you won't be able to run any tw roms with it... but you can flash back to an epic modem pretty easily...
And I do believe that JB partitions different than other MTD ROMS and an Odin would be required to go backwards.

If you can type a response, you can type in the search box.
Or you could go look in development for the thread labeled NS4G modem patch. It's been in the top 10 for at least 2 weeks.
Or you could go here:

Seriously... your phone doesn't have google??? And just so you know... I don't even own a computer right now, so that's no excuse... I do all my posting and searching right from the trusty old epic 4g....
I installed the Nexus S 4G modem on CM9.1 using CWM5. It was a two-step process: install actual radio from .zip and then apply a patch to CM9.1 from .zip.
The KL2 radio is attached--I downloaded it from the Nexus S' forums, I think. The patch was available from the Epic Dev forum. The thread with the CM9.1 patch also had patches for other MTD ROMs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842037
When in doubt, restoring a CWM flash backup and using Odin to reinstall a Samsung modem returns you back to square one.
Today is my second day on the NS4G KL2 radio. With EC05/FC09 and CM7, the GPS was flaky and often refused to lock but battery life was stellar: with CM9, GPS just flat didn't work and the radios sucked the battery >5% an hour on idle. With KL2, GPS locks in the same indoor location within 5 seconds and the battery usage looks equivalent to CM7's, which for me was the best of all ROMs for battery life.

That's the modem that caused so many problems for so many people.
It's also worked fine for many people. It's your choice whether to flash it or not, or you could just flash a rom without a modem. I've had no problems going that path.
Flashing this modem is what gave me these issues. It's been pulled from DL I just noticed too.
