[Q] Root ICS

Hello All,
So, when i was with GB, i used to root my Xperia Arc with the Auto-root of DoomLord
Yesterday, i upgraded to the official ICS, but when i get want to root, i get permission denied =/
Anyone knows why ??

You can not root ics 4.0.4 build. 431 using the easy root method
If you want root on 4.0.4. 431 then follow overload thread on how to root.
Basically. You downgrade the kernel root it then. Upgrade the kernel it may sound scary bit it is all done via flashtools. Just download the Rom and kernel and you are good to go

Re: [Q] Clean Install?
If you have the boot loader unlocked than its very easy to root your device.
Note:
Whenever, you flash a stock ftf firmware you will loose root status.
So,having this tool readily available on your desktop is important.
[1]Use the tool from this thread:
[Arc/Arc S]Auto root for unlocked bootloader-no flashing needed-by bazoocase.
[2]Xrecovery-another awesome tool
After you have unlocked your device,I presume you are on stock firmware 0.431 or 0.587.But not rooted,yes.
Now for magic.Run the tool,connect your phone and in less than a second or two your phone will be rooted.With the script in the tool you will now have superuser on your device.
Download busy box from market.
Next run the [2]Xrecovery which will install CWM to your device.
Enjoy flashing ROMs and kernels after this.

You don't need root to install a custom rom. Just unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernel that's prerooted and flash a rom. There's plenty of guides on how to do it. Just search for a user named fma965 and look at his xperia play index that shows how to do everything. And don't forget to thank them
