CDMA/EV-DO phones
SCH-R950, SHV-E250L, SCH-i605, and SCH-N719 are to connect to cdmaOne, CDMA 1xRTT, and EV-DO rev 0/A/B. these variants except SCH-R950, can connect to the GSM network as well.
I also have a SCH-N719 and wanted to do the same (i.e Root, Flash ROM). Did you have any luck on this.
There does not seem to be much support for the N719.
Thanks in advance.

I've looked around on the forum and elsewhere on the internet and found mixed/conflicting information with respect to getting better than Edge speeds on an AT&T Note 2 on T-Mobile's network. AT&T's Note 2 appears to support the frequencies for T-Mobile's network (e.g., 1700MHz according to http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Samsung-GALAXY-Note-II-AT-T_id7500). I'm guessing that it's not as simple as flashing a new modem. Does anyone know if it is possible to get an AT&T Note 2 running on T-Mobile's network at higher data speeds than Edge? I'm SIM unlocked and rooted, but haven't tried flashing a radio or modem yet.
I've seen some reports suggesting that it won't work, that there is no way to make the AT&T Note 2 work on T-Mobile's HSPA+ network (hardware limitations). I'd like to find out if that's true so I know if I should return my AT&T Note 2 and exchange it for a T-Mobile model. Wish the carriers wouldn't make this stuff so damned complicated.
*Edit* Saw on another forum that somebody suggested changing the APN settings. I might give that a try, but seeing as the AT&T modem is using 1700MHz for a different radio tech (LTE), I'm not sure it would be able to reconfigure it for HSPA+. If someone knows for sure, it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Update: Spoke with a T-Mobile rep at length. The rep stated that the AT&T Note 2 radio *should* be compatible with T-Mobile's 3G/4G services. However, we were unable to get it to work. Perhaps the biggest obstacle is that there is no "Network mode" menu option within Settings->Mobile networks. Thus there appears to be no way to directly set the network operating more (e.g., GSM, HSPA+, LTE...).
Planning to speak with tech support for a while to try to get more info.
And the conclusion to this: Unless one is inclined to flash a new ROM for it (which isn't a bad option), then it doesn't appear that the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 is easily used with full data throughput on T-Mobile's 3G/4G service. It may be as simple as flashing a T-Mobile ROM onto it. I haven't found enough information on the hardware in both versions, but what I've read here on XDA leads me to believe they're identical, in which case ROM flashing should be simple. On the other hand, if there was a difference in the radio, then it should be necessary to adjust for that by flashing the appropriate modem (also available here on XDA).
At the moment, it appears possible, just not trivial. Because I'm currently carrier-agnostic (e.g., T-Mobile, StraightTalk:AT&T/T-Mobile) I will probably just exchange my AT&T version for the T-Mobile version, which has superior software.

Were you able t o find any solution? or did you just get the tmobile version of the note 2? Also, is the t-mobile version superior to the AT&T version? I read somewhere that the tmobile version can not do 4G LTE and is not future proofed. or is it better to unlock the tmobile version and use it on at&t if needed?
There is a hidden menu I have a sprint note 2 and all I have to do is ##3282# and enter my msl then go into others and select hdr or somthing / 1x

I was hoping to be able to "transform" an at&t note 2 into a tmobile note 2.

Hey I got a question I was thinking about buying a bad ESN at&t note 2 and flashing a T-mo ROM and modem. I was just wondering does the phone have to be sim unlocked by att or will t-mo be able to sim unlock it ? Also would I still have to call customer service and activate the phone or can I just pop in my sim card from my existing contract/phone? Never bought a bad ESPN phone before but am very comfortable with flashing radios and roms and modems etc... just wasn't sure about the unlocking.
Dear XDA,
I was hoping that there was a way to use my newly acquired Optimus G on my current WIND network with data capabilities. I was browsing the internet and came across a few tidbits of information and was hoping for some clarification:
1) Nexus 4 conversion
[Q] Can the E973 perform this conversion successfully?
- willing to sacrifice LTE, NFC and storage space and perhaps even the camera
[Q] Will this conversion allow for a baseband to be flashed that will sustain a data connection on WIND?
2) Getting WIND data on the E973
[Q] Can an alternative baseband/radio be flashed to enable data over WIND?
Here is what equipment I'm running:
(Telus) LG Optimus G E973 Unlocked Rooted
ROM: Vanilla Rootbox CDN (unofficial) 4.2.2
Radio: AT&T JB
My understanding is that a Nexus 4 conversion will allow me to flash a T-Mobile radio baseband which will enable me to use data over WIND. However I was wondering if there was another approach, possibly a more direct one. Thank you.
Nope not happening the phone doesn't support the 1700 aws bands... There is nothing you can flash that would change the hardware in the phone
---------- Post added at 09:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:18 PM ----------
As for N4 conversion... I'm not sure why you would want to? Root and bootloader unlock your phone and then install any of the roms here...
---------- Post added at 09:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:19 PM ----------
I suggest rootbox because I feel it's the most mature with amazing customizability features...
Many thanks. Yep I'm gonna be sticking with Rootbox since it rocks. With regards to compatibility, I'm quite certain that the E973 does indeed support AWS (Link). I would very much like to stay as an LGOG instead of covering to an N4, I would only consider converting if it allows for use on WIND where the LGOG would natively not.

3G/4G/LTE Capable
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900
3G/UMTS: Band I (UMTS 2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100/AWS), Band V (850)
LTE: Band 4, Band 17, Band 1(2100), Band 2(1900), 5(850), 7(2600)
The only band that I can see that is missing is 3G(HSPA+) 900MHz from the SM-900T. Well that, and the 800/1800MHz bands for LTE.
I'm a AT&T subscriber however I want a unlocked device since I travel to other countries. I've looked into LG G3 D855 (European version) unlocked but many people report that although it shows the frequencies used by AT&T, still it doesn't allow 4G LTE on any US carrier.
I do not want to buy LG G3 D850(AT&T version) since i won't be able to use it back home. I'm not sure what the LG G3 F400 version is.
Please help this is really confusing, I've tried contacting both LG and AT&T but they don't seem to have much information on this.
Thank you!

It seems like Pakistan uses 1800mhz for the LTE. In terms of At&t and Europeans G3, they don't have the same LTE bands.
At&t does NOT use 1800 only the European one has it.
So since Pakistan uses the same bands as the Europe, then you'll have to pick which between having LTE in the U.S. or LTE in Pakistan.
Both phones will work for 3g though.
Hope that helps!

I'm not concerned about LTE in Pakistan since as of now Pakistan doesn't have LTE networks setup . Also LTE in US is important for me. In Pakistan I only want to be able to use my phone i.e call/text.
I have two more questions:
1. Would I be able to use an AT&T device with Pakistani/European carriers without unlocking it, if I buy them without contract.
2. Can I use the korean G3 (f400) for ATT LTE? I've read it somewhere that some people have got it working but I want to be sure.

Since you not concerned with LTE in Pakistan, that makes it a little easier.
1. You can buy an At&t phone and get it unlocked. If you buy it outright (full cost), at&t might provide you with the unlock code, I'm not positive about that.
If you are still on a contracted type plan and you buy it subsidized with a 2 year contract then you can also just buy an unlock code for $3 and get it unlocked. I'm not affiliated with this website but I have seen others use it (www(dot)gsmzambia(dot)com/) and has success. I personally used cellunlocker and it took 24 hours to get my code and was about $8. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780536&page=2)
2. Yes you can use a Korean G3 as it has the correct LTE bands and will works for At&t LTE.
This is only if you're interested in Roms/Modding/Qi Wireless charging
If you plan on buying your phone outright from at&t, I would highly recommend getting a t-mobile phone if you like to flash roms, use QI wireless charging. T-mobile has their bootloader unlocked so its more rom friendly. Also it uses the Qi-wireless standard vs PMA which is much more widely used than At&t's PMA (powermat)
T-mobiles phone works for At&t and has all the bands except for band 5 which at&t isn't using.

90% of the bloatware is uninstallable. The Korean language on the dialer, and in the theming app is what made me get rid of it for the att version. I also didn't like how it handled USA phone numbers via text messages. It always sent and received duplicate text messages

incorrect information my friend. PLease search xda because thier are several phones from sprint that have worked on tmobile and att. The sprint variant has a international lock a nd a domestic lock. Once they are cracked, then yes, you can use your phone on att or tmobile.. Sprint uses cdma mainly for 3g and voice, and use a sim, yes a sim card for lte. You can call sprint and have them unlock the phone for INTERNATIONAL use only within thier guidelines. So far the note 2 note 3 s3 and s4 have been avaible to use with modification to get onto att and tmbolies networks.

weren't there some Sprint Samsung phones with no SIM slot, but people modded one in and used them on ATT/TMo?

no, older phones had "sim" cards as well. Touch pro 2 was one of them. So before the samsung devices, the htc international devices were able to as well...

Yeah I remember the touch pro 2 having a sim card slot.
The slide out keyboard, tilting screen, running Windows mobile AND Android Froyo! Those were the days, here is the link for the sim unlock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555339

Does the galaxytools unlock work on the Note 4? It says my phone is unlocked but I don't have a sim card to test it out.

Unlocked for international travel not for domestic. Hopefully a dev will figure out how to unlock the GN4 for use on other carriers in the US.
'invalid SIM'

Based upon my personal experience, even when the phone is UICC unlocked, it is still locked for domestic use. I unlocked my Note 4 via international at Sprint, but the phone says 'Invalid SIM' when using T-Mobile SIM.
I was able to get an Sprint HTC M7 to work on T-Mobile using just the international unlock method.
Good news though, Sprint will be making most phones unlockable for domestic use by Feb 11th (at least phones made thereafter)... so this means that even if the Note 4 doesn't get some kind of firmware update to allow domestic use, the S6 will and I'm sure somebody will port over the capability.

Now that it's past Feb 11, we should be able to do a domestic unlock and it should work with Tmobile LTE & voice?

As specified by Sprint, all phones released before Feb 11th 'will not be DSU(Domestic SIM Unlock) capable'. This means a dev will have to figure out a way to port the S6 modem to the Note 4 and we'll possibly be able to get DSU for the Note 4 that way. (Or at least, that is my understanding of it) Only time will tell at this point.
Use root tools it unlocks the sim I'm using it with at&t now
