Can Probably Run AT&T Optimus G ROMs! - LG Optimus G (International)

So houstonn hasn't replied to my PM, but I think it'll be a good idea to share this with the community. Everyone go thank houstonn! DO NOT THANK ME.
MOD EDIT: Do not post PMs!
So basically... Download AT&T ROM, which in my case was SnowJB. Then I also downloaded houstonn's JB port. Then I opened up the ZIP file and drag and dropped boot.mg from houstonn's ROM and dropped it over in the ZIP file or SnowJB. Repacked the ZIP file and flashed it on my E971. So far, everything works, such as camera, the 32GB of storage, and WiFi. I haven't tried making calls yet or using 3G/LTE.

Any news on calls/3G/LTE?
I'm little edgy to move because ever since I went back the firmware ICS E (custom) my battery has been phenomenal!

Out of that time, how long in total was the screen on for?
I seem to get over 15 hours total with around 4-5 hours of on screen time medium usage.. Im on the v03 jb rom.

I can get 3 days with 20 minutes or so of screen on time each day
I think calling works. I can text, and well, I was getting signal from the moment I flashed it. There's no green LED though

I didn't check, I'll do a test now that I'm back at work and see how the battery does. Will post back

That would definitely explain the duration your battery could last.
Im on over 15 hours now, 3+ hrs on screen time with 22% remaining. That said I was playing dungeon hunter for a while last night and that wiped my battery down a good 30% befote bed.
Im also in learning mode using the batteryguru from qualcomm which is taking some battery and causing some wakelocks.

It was only because I was at home the whole day, so only texting and Whatsapp.
Anyways, calling works. But I want my green LED back! And there's something wrong with my modem.. Gonna need to reflash it.

With on and off during the day, including some browsing and txting, display use 21 mins Auto Brightness, 78% left. Run Time 12 H exactly as of this post lol
What seems to be different ever since i flashed to the CM 10.1 Mod was that the android system no longer stays awake ALL THE TIME...Now it actually kicks into sleep mode.
I remember people have been complaining about the OS or System would take up the most %.
Let's say if I had 12 h run time, Android OS or System would be awake for 12H...now it's been awake for only 1.5h

Did you turn off Fast Dormancy?
The proper one for your carrier and not the AT&T one?

Yeah you have to turn it off for your carrier. Not for AT&T.
For Rogers you have to make the value 0 for 302720.
Check screen shot for location. Then you have to open telephony.db and dcm_settings and change the value for your carrier to 0.
You may need sqlite manager to edit.

Amazing battery life on 4.0.4

I flashed Paul's 4.0.4 ROM a few days ago and my battery life has greatly improved. I wouldn't normally make a new thread about something like this but I've seen a lot of people complain about poor battery life. Hopefully this ROM helps others as much as it helped me. The ROM is still in beta but it's surprisingly stable.
I always keep my brightness at 40%

Maybe so, but neither stock nor 4.0.3 with Franco's kernel has been able to achieve amazingly long idle time and still handle hours of screen time.

Yeah, that's pretty low for a day and a half worth of usage. We already know that the Galaxy Nexus idles like a champ.
He still has 60% left so he's still got a lot of usage out of that charge. Could be looking at 2 days at that rate but yeah you don't really use the phone that much do you.

Very true, but I could never go 24 hours with only one hour of screen on time.. Do you want to share some tips or specifics? Wifi? Whats syncing? Any special apps you are using? Or do you atribute it all to the ROM like you said?

I've seen as low as 0-1% battery lost over 8 hours of sleeping before. So that plus WiFi for a full day isn't hard. I've been at 75% battery before with a full 24+ hours used but it was on Wifi with little screen usage and minimal things like texting and short calls and not much else.

I've managed 2 hours 40 minutes screen on time over 42 hours with eight percent left leaving brightness on auto, using AOKP and Franco 16.2.
I think that's pretty decent.

I second this, another thing is half the time people forget to mention their on AT&T not on Verizon, and they compare their 2 day battery life on GSM to an LTE phone...
My biggest battery hog is exchange syncing every 15 minutes, and with that and LTE with nothing but stock apps in the background I can get 2, 2 1/2 hours of on screen time within a day

4.1.2 stock will always get better battery than custom 4.2.2. however, so long as I can get at least a full day, then I'm happy. I really do not need 2+ days (although that would be great)

You can see I turn wifi off unless I'm using it. The single line under "Charging" is when I plugged it in to copy about 60mb of music over. Took about 1 minute, so not exactly long enough to bump the percentage. The screen is almost always set to 25-30% brightness. The heaviest period of use was yesterday, when I was browsing the internet and downloading and installing some apps, so I haven't exactly been going hard on it.
Another thing I'd like to say is that this phone is less than a week old. We all know batteries degrade with time, so I'm sure the freshness of the device has something to do with my extended life. However, it is mostly because I'm using a stock based 4.1.2 rom. When I had Slimrom 4.2 on it, it was getting just over 24 hours, with a couple periods of fairly heavy use(playing games, downloading/installing all my apps on a new rom and getting everything set up the way I like it). If I were to baby it like I did yesterday and today, I'm sure I would see about 30 hours on 4.2.
ROM: Orion AOKP.
My only tweaks were to edit the build.prop file: WiFi supplement scan interval from 30 to 1800.

May I ask why you suspect a drain, like how long does it last and also what's wrong with the built-in bat-stat?
My biggest recommendation is to avoid DL'n every single app and keep it to a minimum.
Mine last roughly 2days with a screen time of 3-4h without charging (was away a weekend recently and took my chances and left the charger at home, used the camera alot incl. 4k shooting and alot of music videos playing and made all the way home with 1 percent )
Best phone in terms of battery I've come across yet.
on the stock rom and kernel?
Hello, what's your android version and firmware build number? I would like to use it because i'm on 4.4.4 build 14.4.A.0.108 and I'm experiencing fast battery drain.

Changing ROM will not help in most cases if you won't discover what is eating battery.
I am on the same above ROM and kernel and I don't complain.
Term 'fast' is not much precise, either.
BTW:
1.3%/h is pretty reasonable if phone was in use from time to time.
Base rule with BBS is to check batery over night, when it is not used at all.
Under those circumstances you should see 0.1-03%/h and that is completely fine.

i dont think using wifi and auto sync will drain my battery from 60% to 6% in just a second. Anyway, i ordered a replacement battery from witrigs. Hope this fixes my problem. Ive tried factory resets and repair through pc companion. still no improvement. Turning stamina mode improves my battery. It no longer drops 50% in a second, just 10%. Still way too low compared to my excellent battery life with kitkat. Before lollipop, i charge my phone every 2 days with heavy use. Now, i need to charge it twice a day with moderate use.

If so - I'd come back to KK before replacing battery, if for no other reason then to prove LP is guilty.
BTW:
Long ago I decided not to upgrade to LP.
Looks like evey step ahead is in real life step back.
Everything is more complicated, wants more maintenance, yet works worse than old simple tools.

you are the 2nd person to confirm this to me..... I wonder if is only happening to tmobile edges since we have to use the wrong root file ??? or is happening to the other edges that have a correct root file ????
seems like I'll wait to root specially now with the built in battery
I decided to start fresh and will wait for a fix on this root issue. Hopefully it comes soon.
I can confirm this as well. My battery life is atrocious with everything disabled (google now, location, wifi, etc)...less than my Nexus 5 with everything enabled.

Here's a great guide if you guys decide to unroot and start over. Make sure you guys thank the OP of that thread.
I'm not sure how to actually confirm it for you, but my phone has been off charge for 2 hours, and I am at 98%.
I bought the phone on Friday, ran the OTA that popped up as soon as I powered on whilst still at the store, came home and rooted. Disabled a bunch more bloat, but the battery wasn't great. It was iPhone territory.
Yesterday, I started over with a full KiES install that included that OTA. I rooted again and then re-installed everything from TB. This has seemed to make a marked improvement. That said, tomorrow will be a true to test of the battery as It's a work day, I'm travelling, and I'll be roaming up in Canada.
This is very helpful - thanks! Please, if you think of it, let us know how Monday goes? Appreciate it!

I looked a little bit more through this thread and saw that CPU Spy app, so I ran it, and I am deep sleeping after root. Please do note, however, that I have WiFi set to always on, one of my email accounts in Nine is set to not sync at all during off-peak hours (which includes the weekend), and the other one only syncs every two hours during the same period.
I will definitely still update on Monday as it will be punishing.

Yep. OTA = bad, clean = good.
Are you guys re-rooting with the CF-Auto-Root-zerofltetmo-zerofltetmo-smg920t.tar ?
If so has your device been able to deep sleep

If you're asking these questions, you probably shouldn't be attempting to root or modify your device at all.
Everything is fine now..... rooting and deep sleep are friends again lol
So if i understand correctly
Reflash S6 with Kies or Odin then Root and this should improve batt life?

Yes. I have deep sleep working fine after rerooting but I also am running the stock recovery file Posted here.

I have probably rerooted a slew of times for for various reasons. Last method was to first restore stock firmware using Kies method. It will ask for your serial number. If you can get to download mode, puch home key and wrote down serial number you will see there. Ther serial number for your phone is NOT the IME number which Samsung as well as TMobile kept telling me was the correct serial number. On top of that, First level support asked me to remove my battery to finde serial number under the battery. LOL....great support we pay for
seems to be working really good for me so far
havent truely tested the phone out
last night i factory reset my phone rooted then flashed stock recovery then wiped cache
set up my phone disables some bloat
the night before the phone died while i was sleeping
last night it barely dropped 1% so deep sleep is working
right now im at 39% phones been on for 12h 13m since last charge
and i have 2h 30m on screen time,
need to do some more testing. a couple more charge cycles should make it right
how are u guys charging your phone? letting it die then letting it charge to a full 100? or what
Getting pretty decent life myself.
Just look at this
I didn't watch any movies, just plain browsing, couple of messages, 25 minutes gaming and using some apps (Facebook, google + and a couple of news apps).

good stats from your end... but i seem to be having an issue after I:
took OTA
then rooted
went back n flashed stock FW
rooted again
I fully charge last night around 11pm, and woke up around 5:30am and battery was down to 91%... Just now i had to fully charge again since I was down to about 10% ... Any ideas??
UPDATE:
Don't know if this fix the battery drain issue.. But after rooting, flashing back stock FW and rooting again over the weekend the battery took a massive hit. Just last night with about 78% i decided to odin the Stock Recovery. I went to sleep with 76% and woke up to a 74% battery. I guess the stock recovery worked --- but then on my 2.5 hour commute i left the house with 73% and when i check back at my office i was at 55% (browsing, FB and soundcloud player on) I guess that's normal ???
Completely stock and happy with the battery life.
Loving my battery life! Rooted, custom kernel and twrp
