My kids both got kf2s for Christmas I've rooted them and installed cm, I want to start teaching them how to flash ROMs and I guess learn more myself, but I'm worried about when you boot up and have to push the power button to cycle the options if they choose reset boot mode. I have read what it does, so if there are no problems with the kindles can that hurt anything thank you.
Never hurt me.

i see this firefirefire talk and dont know what it is...... i have twrp and flash different roms and have no clue what firefirefire does. do i need it?
If you have fff with the yellow triangle you have a bootloader but you can easily upgrade to a better one using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500935 it allows for charging if you drain your battery
so the yellow triangle is fff? is there stuff that i should be doing to it. i'm new to all this. i know how to do backups, restores, flash new roms...... thats it, kindle fire is my first tablet and just really want to get to know it. i have been fooling with it for months but just now getting in to asking questions.
the yellow triangle is fff like I said you can upgrade it using the method above if you do you will be greeted by a screen with a white kindle and blue fire logo the only difference to do your backups and access recovery when you see this screen push the power button a few times quickly you will then see this
Normal
Recovery
Reset bootmode
Use the power button to move through the options if you want to access recovery you want it to look like this --recovery-- otherwise dont do anything when you see the white kindle blue fire logo and it will simply boot to your rom follow the instructions in the thread I gave you the link for. With the script you can also upgrage your recovery to the latest version of twrp.
If you are happy the way things function the dont upgrade. The biggest reason to upgrade your bootloader is to avoid this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623244
And as well if at sometime you get stuck in the wrong bootmode this can save you from that as well.
pooch i appreciate the help but dont understand what to do from the other post. do i need to download a fff v 1.4a .zip and flash it through twrp just like i do roms?
OK go here download the file place it on your sdcard flash it in twrp no need to wipe just simply flash and reboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632375
It is definitely a good idea to have FireFireFire 1.4 on a modified device.
thanks pooch i appreciate the help
Your welcome
yeah man this kindle fire has really become a hobby of mine, figuring out how to root, flash, do all this stuff that the majority of people have no idea you can do is fun as hell, i rooted my evo from this website so i can have wifi tether for free..... kindle goes everywhere i go and people trip out like, "thats not what mine looks like" you xda peeps are cool in my book.
My KF is rooted stock 6.3 firmware. I didnt have twrp or anything like that, just normal rooted KF. I edited the build.prop and I guess the KF doesnt support the changes I made. I shut down the KF and it wouldnt turn back on. The green light comes on for about 5 seconds, and goes back off. When I plug it in to the charger, it shows the Kindle Fire boot/splash screen, but after that, the screen goes blank. Is there any way I can get my KF to work? Will the KF unbrick utility work? Im clueless. Please help!
The "Thanks" button never hurt anyone.
does your computer recognize it at all?
you have broken your system software inherently its very difficult to fix without twrp or fff but not impossible I may be able to assist you on where to go from here
Im not sure. I cant try right now. I have to use my brothers pc - he rarely lets me.

cant do much until you have access
Yes, it connects. Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility doesnt work...so im not sure what to do. Would KFU Factory Reset work?

From what I have seen that does create an update.zip . Whether it will push that to your kindle causing your device to promptly update itself and work out your problem I dont know. I understoood the rest of it to be a rather manual method myself it couldnt hurt the worst that could happen is you will lose root . If your drivers and such appear fine bootmode normal status online . I myself would opt to first send twrp then fff and maybe flash modaco after a good wipe of everything except your sdcard but this is just my approach.
Alright guys, so I tried using KFU on my 1gen Kindle Fire. I selected option 2 right off the bat and I'm guessing I should have hit option 1 and booted into fastboot first lol sorry I'm a noob.
Well now the Kindle will turn on but it will go directly to the "Kindle Fire" white and orange logo and do nothing else. I've let it sit here for like 10-20 min and still nothing. I've also tried using a couple different tools and methods (firekit being the last I tried) to no avail.
Any help would be amazing guys! Thanks so much for everything you do already.

Yeah, I'm actually reading that right now haha. I believe I'm stuck in fastboot but I don't think my computer has the fasboot drivers so I'm looking to get those, download those and see what happens from there.
I'm not looking for a hand out , I'm working on it myself as much as I'm asking for help I promise.

UPDATE! Alright I got it back into Normal mode !!! All by my self too really. Thanks for that little link though, if I hadn't already been searching that would have helped me out a freaking ton! Now it's time to get down to business.
UPDATE 2! Haha, alright well I'm trying to use KFU but it doesn't seem to be working well. I just put it back into fastboot mode and now it's pulling the same **** over again. All I wanna do is root this thing... Any help?
UPDATE 3! So not that any of you really care but I got a new recovery on it now ! Working on FFF and then rooting it!
Are you just trying to root it or do you want to install a custom ROM? If you want to install a custom ROM, rooting it beforehand is a waste of time.

No I do want to root it. I like having access to all the abilities of the device. Right now I'm having TWRP creating a backup before I go any father. It's taking forever though .
I kid I kid . You wouldn't be trolling the forums with your knowledge if you didn't haha.
Alright, so I've got FFF on there now. I'm just waiting for KFU to do it's thing and hopefully root this thing ><. Thanks for nothing yet really

All custom ROMs are rooted anyway, which is why I say if you are going to install a custom ROM, rooting it again is pointless.
You guys are way too advanced for me
I'm just a newbie and I try to make my life with KF easier, not more complicated by reading and reviewing how to use the KFU tools.
First, I download the zip file then I unzip it then I install drivers as instructed then start using the beautiful useful tools.
Second, I make sure it reads 4000 and Online by pressing "0" key then press 2 if just want rooting with stock OS. It will automatically install TWRP and FFF. Follow the instruction and it should be done by then.
Nandroid backup with COTR.
Installing custom ROM? read the instruction again on that thread.
The Problem I am having seems to be a Infinite boot logo after Undoing a custom Otter jelly bean KF rom. I went through the motions of ADB KFU booting into recovery. I factory restored, wiped and attempted to install my back up of the stock kindle fire rom. wiped caches, and then let it do its "boot up" how ever it did not move past that point, and has been stuck at the "kindle fire" logo screen.
Is there anyway to fix what I probably broke?
KFU Utility vers 0.9.6
TWRP vers 2.4.4
OS version Windows 8 X64
Kindle fire Rom version 6.2.1
Otter jelly bean was 4.2.1 a release sometime in February is the closest I can get. I can't exactly roll back now can I?
Any other information I forgot or neglected to supply on first post was unintentional. First time I have ever had a problem.
Thanks in advance
~ Zach
I had that problem awhile back. What I ended up doing was flashed another ROM and then see if it worked(it did). Then I flashed the stock ROM again and deleted everything. Cache, SD, factory reset etc. After that it seemed to be working just fine.

My problem is, I can't get the device out of this logo "loop" it won't let me install TWRP or the other one. Let alone get into the TWRP currently installed. I wonder if I can get Screen Shots up on here.

I think you're having the same problem I'm having. If you look at my post regarding stuck at logo that I posted yesterday see if it's the same.
What is your logo doing? Does it stay bright or does it turn on and blink and then fade?
Based on what I've read we need them to get them into fastboot and then side load TWRP and FFF and start again.
I think what we've done is removed or cleared too much in TWRP and our bootloaders are broken, but I could be talking out of my you know what.
Good luck to you and I will follow your thread and you may want to follow mine.
The only thing I can think of is getting a Factory Cable and reset you Kindle Fire
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Leroy,
I think Jakey has it.
I was just about ready to pitch this thing in the trash and I decided to plug in my factory cable one last time and run KFU.
For whatever reason I decided to select the root option again even though it said status offline and it rerooted my device.
My logo is now white/blue and I think I can get a rom back onto it.
You may want to hit Skorpn up for a cable, he shipped it super fast and it's great work.
Leroy,
Since it seems you are having the same problem I was and replies are pretty slow in here these days (I'm sure most people are tired of repeat posts like mine), I thought I would post precisely what I did to fix mine.
I too had the infinite boot logo that stayed bright and tried everything from KFU, to unbrick tool, to Soupkit, nothing seemed to work. I bought a factory cable from Skorpn, but didn't really understand how to use it. I think there is so much information here and many various ways to get things fixed it takes awhile to digest it.
Right before I got ready to pitch it in the trash I figured I would try KFU one more time even though it wasn't seeing my Kindle. Device manager saw the ADB drivers in Android device though.
I plugged in the factory cable
Launched KFU
Device said "offline"
Tried various options until I finally saw the install permanent root with superuser (option 2)
That did the trick
I then unplugged my factory cable from both the PC and KF and booted the KF into recovery
I downloaded a ROM (Hashcodes and GAPPS) and side loaded them
That did it!
I'm not sure how or why since it said it was offline but it fixed it.
Again, Skorpn was awesome to work with and sent the cable to me quickly.
Good luck to you!
So, I have come into possession of a 2012 Kindle Fire 2 with an interesting story. My friend, the original owner (and as you shall find out, a complete n00b) decided to flash some ROMs and fool around with KFU (yes, the one that's NOT meant for KF2). And while panicking, he ended up booting in fastboot and erasing almost everything he saw here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23747804
So as a result, I have on my hands a Kindle Fire 2 with no bootloader, no recovery, no system, no cache. At this point of time, I'm trying to figure out whether there is any hope for the device if I use the shorting method and try and bring it to OMAP USBBOOT.
Suggestions are highly welcome.

Try this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2011126 Power off Kindle if able. Open the tool and select option 1 to enable fastboot. A question will come up asking if your tablet is powered off or on. Select the appropriate option. If there is any hope left, this would be it. Once in fast boot, select option 2 I believe which is install SuperSU and recover image. Follow all steps in that thread. If files don't download, do a Google search for the exact names. I used this tool many of times so I know it works if you aren't perma bricked.
