They are claiming by the end of the year.
I seriously doubt it. The GS2 is over a year old, I doubt T-Mobile or Samsung would even bother, especially now that the galaxy s3 is out and the s4 is soon to be announced. An example would be the captivate which did receive an official gingerbread while the vibrant didn't.
But wasn't released on the international version?

Won't matter if we do or not. The aosp ROMs we have come from the top devs in the android world (cm and aokp).

When; more likely if it ever comes. Check out the Avatar rom until then. It's an excellent stable 4.2.2 rom. That's my hold over until an official update is implemented.

We're supposed to be getting JB but the date keeps being pushed back. Telus recently pushed their JB release date for the t989 to April now. It just keeps getting pushed back for "testing". Meanwhile I'm running a perfectly good 4.2.2 ROM with no real issues. Apart from its usefulness for developers I have no need for a stock JB release anymore. It's taken too long.
I agree. By the time it comes, if it comes, I may move to a new phone anyway. But this guy looks like it will be competent for a long time.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
They will most probably release it in a few months, but it's not such a big deal having better alternatives available now
We don't need stock JB when we have CM AOKP Paranandroid and PAC.

I'm full of great idea's, but don't have the time to create them or learn the coding to create them. If you want to make one of my ideas a reality just message me and I will give you my idea as specific as possible.
ideas:
-launcher/lock screen
-line rider type game where you control the character
-2d fighting game like art of fighting for the SNES
-multiplayer fps where you create your own map with a creative mode (minecraft style)
-roller coaster tycoon style game
-get phone out of sleep mode
-many more!
Just message me which idea you want info on and I'll tell you!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the ICS drivers work perfectly for jellybean. Since the have already been released, we don't need an official bloated jellybean release .

That's exactly why I'm sticking with ICS ROMs, too. For me, WiFi calling is THE most critical feature of the GS2. Hopefully an official release comes out, otherwise it's ICS until I presumably go to the GS4 when my contract runs out in about 6 months. If the GS4 doesn't have WiFi calling, I don't know what I'll do! GS3, I suppose.
I can't find any stable ROM yo work with my phone so I guess this is it for me.. If anyone has a nice stable ROM that has everything I don't really care for wifi calling please let me know thanks God Bless

I just rooted my phone to take the bloat off, I am tempted to flash a rom but I don't want to have to go back to stock if none of the them work work. I think I'll wait for S4 if no update comes out

Would be nice, but from earlier rumours Google will release a "few" Nexus devices running Android 4.2 (or 5.0 whatev.) first but before anyone else will adopt it it will be a bit. Jellybean is pretty much just been rolling out for a couple months.
It seems way too soon to release KLP. I wouldn't mind if they did, but there are very few phones on JB right now.

I honestly think, it's too early to make a jump from 4.1 to 5, with the rumored features expected on KLP, it seems nothing so big as when ics was released, and I doubt google could completely revamp the os in what, 4 months?

Another feaute rumored was a theme like engine that would allow vanilla android to be pushed to our phones and the manufacturer can push their skin at a later time. This could be hog wash but that would be cool. I seriously think Google is trying to get updates to more phones.

Android Police has server logs of devices on 4.2 with build names starting with J.
Also, 3.0,3.1 and 3.2 were all Honeycomb.

Yeah i think its gonna be 4.2. like for 4.1 the main thing was project butter i think for 4.2 klp its gonna be project road runner. Im probobly gonna switch from the gs3 to the next nexus that comes out.
So every major release of android is a food/desert name starting with the next letter of the alphabet. We should play a guessing game to see what's after Key Lime Pie. And what will happen after Android reaches Z?
Thats why im getting so annoyed of android crap cuz without even giving 4.1 to users they say 4.2 is on its way which sucks balls and apple is right actually having such a low number of android phones that got ics is a ****ty way to treat customers. And no it is not a matter of technology advancing super fast is just their strategy to screw customers just like sammy did with european gs3 and then 2 months later another upgraded version of gs3 was out.
What are u talking about? The sgs3 in USA is different because of lte. If anything I rather have the quad core over a dual core as 1gb of ram is more than enough. And I'm pretty sure the sgs2 has ics and they're gonna even release jb for it. A lot of ppl are still using phones from 2 yrs ago so obviously they're not gonna have the new updates. That's just common sense technology is outdated every 6 months so for Samsung to update a yr old phone is a big deal

I'm with you. Multi window isn't all big of a deal to me. 4.2 Vanilla, has amazing features, basically a full screen camera, huge quick settings, i don't know if 4.1.2 TouchJizz offers anything besides multi window that I'm slightly interested in.
Just so people know, PureMotive has partial multi window working in his Verizon ROM in their Dev section. He's a true dev making things happen, no offense to our guys at all even though it might sound like it.

The Galaxy S2 have their JB leak with android 4.1.2 Maybe Sammy and Tmobile will release 4.1.2 to the S2 before the S3.
They're going to release the Premium Suite eventually for us, and I'm sure with that release they're probably going to bring 4.1.2 with it as it's just a minor update.

http://bgr.com/2013/03/15/galaxy-s-4-features-galaxy-s-iii-380013/
I think we will probably get those new features after the S4 is out, but I think it will also be packaged as JB 4.2, so I feel we will have both the new features and currently released Android OS, so it will get Panorama shot, lockscreen widgets, etc. If we do get JB 4.2, that will be 2 major OS updates since official release (ICS 4.0 > JB 4.1 > JB 4.2.
I also hope that the Note 1 (I have the international version running on Straight Talk's AT&T and also on T-Mobile's $30/month plan) gets some of the new S4 enhancements and maybe JB 4.2 as well, but that would be a stretch.

The t989 devs have put out a literal tonne of jb roms already.
And if you are talking about xda devs helping get official jb out....well.....I will just say not gonna happen. Xda devs are not affiliated with google, samsung or the carriers in any way.

I just installed embryo 6.8 today. So far so good! Was using Whitehawkz Aokp 4.2.2 for about a month...its very good! I just wanted to try a TW rom again, since last time I did there were alot more issues on the t989. Seems most of its been ironed out now....even have signal bars now.
Anyway, those are the 2 I've used recently. There are a bunch of great current roms tho! Just read thru the different rom threads to see what folks are saying about them.
Remember....for what I do with my phone I have very few if any issues....but for what you do with your phone...that could be different. Just nandroid a safe good backup....and flash anything that appeals to you. If you don't like, then restore your nandroid.
Have fun!

T-Mobile has announced software updates for the many of the devices I've used over the years and rarely have they ever followed through. There are plenty of JB ROMs that are worth looking at that will blow any T-Mo OTA out of the water.
And the T989 doesn't have the hardware capacity to run what the S4 will be able to run.
