the messages app has a feature to backup and restore the sms, you can try that one... for the call logs you can try titanium backup, i think that will work fine...

[Q] sms backup/restore problem (blazer Rom)

After backing up messages from the stock rom and then restoring them on this rom, My phone soft reboots every 10 seconds and makes it impossible to do anything. ive tried this multiple times and I always end up having to restore the original nandroid backup from clockworkmod.
Ive been able to do this on other roms but this is the only one that i have problems with restoring my messages.
Is there another way to restore my messages or am I doing something wrong?
p.s the app i used to backup/restore my messages is ' SMS Backup & Restore' and gosmspro..
Titanium backup does wonders for me, coming from diff roms as well.

Restore nandroid(if applicable), backup any sms, mms, contacts storage in green highlighted [ ], then install ur desired rom, restore data from said backup.

Backup When Going to New ROM?

I'm moving to the R4 release of Eugene's CM7 (From Jugg 5.0), and was wondering what the best way to backup my current data would be. Previously, I was forced to revert to Jugg 5.0 when multiple errors came up after trying to restore from TB. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To backup your emails and contacts the best way is to use your gmail account. when you flash a new ROM it will ask you to sign in with your account and you will get all your emails and contacts back.
To get all your text messages and call logs back I use an app called SMS Backup +. It backs up all your SMS and MMS messages and call logs to your gmail account. After you flash a new ROM just press restore and they will all be back again.
To back up your user apps with data I use Titanium Backup and select the option to backup all user apps. This will back up all the apps you have downloaded with data included. Do not backup system apps with data because this may cause problems when flashing a new ROM. Once new ROM is flashed go back to Titanium backup and restore all apps with data.
You should be good to go.

As iLeopard said, always make a nandroid first. It will backup everything from the current ROM you are running. Just in case the new ROM doesn't work out for you or things don't run properly, just restore your nandroid and you are back to where you were before flashing the new ROM.

Doesn't making a full user apps + system data Titanium Backup do the same thing?

No, when you backup system data you are backing up everything on your system. All the widgets, wifi settings, gps etc etc. You only want to backup the apps you downloaded. If you backup system data it could conflict with settings in the new ROM when you try and restore.

Indeed. Personally I don't even recommend restoring applications. To ensure that you don't get any erros I suggest you download apps fresh from the play store

[Q] Restore SMS after 4.4.2 NB4 update

I just recently Odined from MI7 to NB4 to flash the new Jedi update. I backed up everything in Titanium Backup, and then used Call Log Backup and SMS Backup & Restore to back up my texts. Since the KitKat updates, in order to restore SMS backups, the app doing the restoration needs to be set as the default messaging app (temporarily).
SMS Backup & Restore has worked fine for me while on Kitkat. I select my backup, click restore, it prompts me to set SMS Backup & Restore as the default messaging app, I click yes, and we're all good. However, when I click restore, I get no prompt to set the app as the default messaging app. I've tried clearing defaults of GO SMS, hangouts, I've tried installing other SMS apps to trigger the 'which do you want as default window' and still nothing.
I also backed up the SMS messages in TItanium, but a restore just hangs there.
Has anyone experienced this? Tearing my hair out right now.
I'll reply to myself.. while I didn't find a solution to the main issue, I worked out another way.
I had a previous nandroid of my unrooted NB4 base. I backed up my current and restored the original-- which still had my data (and SMS) intact. GO SMS has a built in backup tool, so I created a backup there, stored it on the SD, restored Newer Nandroid, and currently restoring the SMS through GO.
Sometimes the nandroid manager will split the backup, did you check to see if that happened?

Use SMS Backup & Restore just for SMS or MyBackUp Pro for SMS, Call logs and system settings. I find that Titanium Backup is best for app data.
