ok, tmobile gs3.. just bought the phone used off craigslist. i have a working tmobile micro sim card in the phone verified by putting it in another phone it works fine. everything about the gs3 works except i cant make calls, texts or no internet except if im on wifi. whenever i try to make a call i get a pop up saying "not registered on network". i have full signal bars, airplane mode is not on , in mobile networks under APN's, tmobile US is owing and checked.. networks is set to auto.. i called tmobile and they verified my sim and refreshed the network , they also verified the phone is not stolen or blocked but he did say the imei# is not showing in his system as a tmobile gs3?? only way i can verify this is a real tmobile gs3 is for 1 the back cover says tmobile and when i first got it it had all the normal tmobile bloat.. kinda confused about what else to do, i tried using another known working tmobile sim and it does the same thing. ive reset it many times, even completely flashed a new rom and same thing, " not registered on network"!
You may have to unlock the phone. And make sure the Apn reads epc.tmobile.com
yes it does read epc.tmobile.com.. guess ill try to unlock it and see. any free ways to unlock this phone or gotta pay?
Your phone have been blacklisted. Call Tmobile to confirm.
i did call tmobile, they said my imei# isnt even showing up in there system. guy with customer support told me it isnt being reported lost or stolen cause the imei# isnt even showing?
Where did you get the imei number? From the phone's menu system or the back of the phone. Tmobile should have the IMEI in their system or else you won't be able to make a call. If it is not in their system then there is definitely something fishy with your phone.
called tmobile again and told them i thought it was blacklisted, lady checked my imei# .. yep! said its blocked and couldnt tell me why other then id have to have the person i got it from call and they arent answering there phone, hmmmm..wander why. said they either didnt pay the bill or reported it lost or stolen. never realized tmobile phones could be blocked so anyone out there about to buy a tmobile phone, check out the imei with tmobile first and make sure there not on a installment plan. cause if they are and they leave tmobile or dont pay there bill they can shut the phone down from being used on there network.

Which .apn are you using? are calls working with the exception of data and mms?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
I have not changed the .APN. Nothing is working , there is a circle with a line through it in top status bar. Just get " mobile network not available" Im lost at how others have used Simple Mobile sims with nothing extra but to configure the mms/internet.
simple mobile is tmobile, you can use a tmo phone without unlocking with a simple mobile sim, i still have my simple mobile sim from when i used it on my vibrant, and i was able to make a call from my sgs2 without unlocking, so i might be wrong but you should try with an at&t sim, the apn settings for simple are on their site also.
Weird, I'm experiencing the same issue.
I believe the Simple Mobile SIM card is fine, because it works in /other/ (non-smart) phones such as my T-Mobile branded Motorola V195 and Nokia 6030 - I can place and receive calls and text messages.
But the Samsung Galaxy S II T989 is always stuck on "Searching" on the lock screen, and Settings: Wireless and network: Mobile networks: Network operators: Search now: only turns up "T-Mobile" and "AT&T" under Available Networks, both of which say "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" when I tap on them.
Oh yes, and I did program the Access Point Names (APNs) as per Simple Mobile's instructions, twice.
Both with the stock ROM, and with Juggernaut-v4.1 (as it so happens). Baseband version T989UVKL1.
I'll try and find someone with a working T-Mobile SIM card, test that in the phone tomorrow, and report back.
Sim is prolly bad I had same issue when I first put my sim in try another simple sim, maybe sticking it in non smart phones Burns something cus that's exactly how it went down for me:/ when i was using an older phone as a temp, then bought the sg2 and didn't work try using ur sim on another smart phone if it doesn't read it it's toast like mine was

I tested a coworker's T-Mobile SIM card in the phone and had exactly the same problems (no network/unable to find network - just AT&T and T-Mobile), whereas my coworker was able to use my SIMPLE Mobile SIM card in their phone successfully.
I flashed my baseband from to T989UVKID *, and the behavior is the same - still saying that it's not registered, and still only shows AT&T and T-Mobile when I search for networks. Co-worker's SIM card still doesn't allow me to connect to T-Mobile, either.
I'm starting to think the IMEI for this phone might have been reported stolen, and maybe it's being blocked externally (I did buy it from a pawn shop eBay seller - albeit one with good feedback). Hopefully T-Mobile can tell me if I call them up.
*-Well, I loaded the zipfile from topic "1426001 - [RADIOS] CWM Flashable Modems" onto my sdcard and applied update from zip, and Settings: About phone says "Baseband version T989UVKID" now.

probably blacklisted , sounds like this phone is blacklisted a lot people buying and selling before its even payed off , or getting a replacement and then selling

Ya sounds like that. You know what my brother had a vibrant brand new from someone on cragslist and then several months later his gave same problem. He was on Simple Mobile. He called t Mobile and believe it or not said they don't black list phones and say it is not possible for them to do so. It was different reps too that said the same thing. I don't know. Maybe true?

IMEI blacklisted
I just borrowed the SIM card from a coworker's AT&T phone. I had to unlock my Galaxy, but I'd purchased an unlock code a few days ago before I realized that the problem wasn't a SIM lock.
Sure enough, the phone works fine on AT&T's network. 2187 kbps down, 436 kbps up, 105ms ping (in my area).
It's definitely the carrier blocking my phone. Now to see if I can return it. Hey, it will work on the AT&T network now, or maybe the seller can catch the person that sold them the phone.
P.S. Judging by the threads on support.t-mobile.com, Support L1 doesn't have access to or know about the IMEI blocks, but L2 does. Case in point:
support.t-mobile.com/thread/15348
Incidentally, I don't feel that it's T-Mobile's fault that I got a blacklisted phone, although I would like it if they *published* their IMEI blacklists. In Australia, you can punch in an IMEI code and see if it's blacklisted.

Hey all. Mom dropped her phone in the toilet and needed a replacement. Bought a used T-Mo S2 off Craigslist today. SIM card in, all contacts are found off the SIM but when I try to connect to a network or make a call it tells me "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network".
I restored to stock using ODIN and a post here , and still having the same problem. I believe my mother called and reported the phone damaged, is it possible they have deactivated the SIM? Or is it that the phone itself is somehow broken? I will try another sim that I know is working and report back shortly.
Note : carrier is T-Mobile, phone is T-Mobile.
I will be updating using Kies as soon as the battery is charged enough to allow it.
Just checked the IMEI and it was reported stolen.
****ing assholes I swear to ****, people are so ****ing horrible. ****ing ****heads.

Sounds like the sim card is defective. To be sure though go into settings under mobile networks and see if once you select carrier that is gives you the option to pick on. It should give you tmobile and at&t at least. Once it does select tmobile once it does it should then say connected to network.

Okay, well.
I tried the old SIM. Same thing. Tried a known working SIM (My sisters SIM. Also T-Mobile. In her phone it works absolutely fine.) When I put known-working SIM in the S2 it says the same. If I hit "Availible Networks" it shows T-Mobile and AT&T. If I hit T-Mobile it gives me the "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" message. EVEN WITH KNOWN WORKING SIM.
Looks like they jipped you dude, they sold u a Black listed phone.... u cant do nothing about it they ripped u off. phones garbage. If u want to make sure just call T-mobile
I could be misreading this, but it sounds like a stolen phone. I'd contact the seller and ask for a refund, say next call is to the police... then follow through.

I purchased my Samsung S3 from a local pawn shop, I have the receipt and all. I got it home, I use net10 service, popped n my sims card, which I have done many times, the phone worked fine for little bit then I started getting an ATT error message saying "this device has been blocked from network access" I contacted Net10 they changed settings on their end it would work for few minutes then go right back to the error. I have called at&t, cant get thru to the actual customer service (it seems if you dont have an att phone number you cannot get to technical support) had to call the store of course they gave me stock answer, nothing they can do.
Is there anything I can do? would rooting it fix this or is there a program? Unlocking it? help I am desperate, already sold my other phone to buy this one!
SCREWED & IRRITATED:crying:
I would say try unlocking it. at this point it won't hurt.

What version of android is the phone currently on? There are guides here on xda that will allow u to unlock right from the phone if you're on stock 4.1.1. I bought my s3 in May and use straight talk (at&t) and never had issues...
if somebody can answer my question thats be great.
im trying to buy note 4 its at&t. but the person who bought the phone from at&t he did not activate the phone on at&t network.. he just got it in the mail and never contact at&t to activate it.. and he did not pay it off
ri have red pocket SIM and this is what i use for phone service..
if i buy this phone and use my SIM card with it.. does the phone with count as blacklist in at&t database ? what i know at&t blacklist phones will not work on red pocket..
thanks alot
If he did not pay it off it will likely be blacklisted. I assume he got it through the AT&T next program.
It will take up to a few months to be blacklisted.
But there is the chance that it will not be blacklisted as it wasn't registered on their network.
I was told that even if you owe money on a Next Plan device, you can still sell it to someone else. I just did that with my S5 and it went fine.
The Next Plan is tied to your account, not the device. If you sell the device and still owe money on it, they will come after you.
I could be wrong, has anyone heard differently?
so does at&t have all there phones IMEI in the database before the activate and they mark it as blacklist when they sale the phone if its unpaid and inactivated on any account on there network ?
At&t doesn't generally block phones regardless of what happened. They do everything with the account unless the account holder requests it be blacklisted. If they did do something on their end, they would just block it from use on their network, not others once it's unlocked. Generally I would say look for one from someone more reputable, but the fact that he admitted everything makes me think he's just going to let the account go unpaid.
the reason i ask because Red pocke SIM card works on at&t phones without unlock them.. they use at&t towers.. so its at&t based service.. and any blacklist phone will not work on Red Pocket SIM card.. im using LG G2 verizon and its blacklist on verizon but its works fine on redpocket.. the problem is i can not get 4G LTE with verizon phones i can get HSPA.. its should be at&t phone to get 4G LTE..
and the reason im trying to get that phone because its cheaper than to get it from at&t..
I have a Samsung Galaxy Edge 6 with T-Mobile from T-mobile, love the phone, but I lost my job and the bill got out of control so I have not paid in like 3 months I think now.
It was not too big of a deal since my main number is a Google Voice number and I use Google Hangouts to make phone calls and text messages by default.
Its perfect when I am at home on wi-fi but as soon as I leave and not within wi-fi of course I get no internet functionality.
For a while I saw the carrier logo at the top of my phone "T-Mobile" but now it just says "searching" where it used to say that in the upper part of the screen on every screen. (I may have switched a setting causing this or they may have blacklisted my phone I am not sure how to tell).
The phone is not carrier unlocked however if I was to go to Walmart or even a T-Mobile store, tell them I don't have the phone on me but I just want to purchase a pre-paid SIM, could I do that and would it work on my phone to get back on the T-mobile or other carriers network?
Since I use Google Hangouts for my texts and calls it is very important for me to have data. I am sure 5GB would be fine but I want to purchase the cheapest SIM which has any kind of data to see if it even works first. I do not care what number it gives me since I will not be using it for outgoing or incoming calls.
My concern is that if I go with T-Mobile pre-pay, when I put SIM in, it may reject it automatically because they may have sent some kind of SIM lock command since it is not showing carrier anymore OR they may look up my IMEI and see that I have an outstanding bill with them and not allow the SIM.
Any suggestions besides the obvious "pay your bill" would be greatly appreciated! When I can afford to pay the bill I will :cyclops:
Short answer, yes it will work.

Ok great thank you! Will go in and get a T-mob SIM tomorrow. Or actually, does anyone have advice of where to get the cheapest SIM so I can try this to make sure it works first? I think for $30 you can get 5GB data and a little talk from T-Mob is there anything cheaper? I am super-broke right now lol. I just need the data no talk.
Actually it depends on if the phone was part of the bill. If it wasnt payed off and you didnt pay them it will get blacklisted and it wont work with any carrier in the us. But if the phone was paid outright then you should be fine.
See that is what I am talking about. The phone AND Galaxy Gear S with activated SIM both were not paid off and bill is at $600 and it used to say "T-mobile" for carrier on top of phone screen now it just says "Searching" thus I am pretty sure that is a sign of being blacklisted. Even if phone is blacklisted cant I do something to make it use a prepaid SIM? Can I spoof the IMEI? Is that how they blacklist it?

I got around to trying this and no, it did not work. In fact I went to one of those third party T-mobile places which is an authorized dealer but he was still cool to talk about it with and had access to the T-mobile database.
He asked for my phone, went to the dialer app on the phone, put in a code with the numeric keypad, and it pulled up two bar codes and numbers (I think the IMEI).
He then went on his computer and put in my IMEI or whatever number was there and sure enough it said it was blacklisted.
I had a feeling this was the case when my phone went from showing the carrier logo on the top of the screen they it said "searching" after about 3 months on non payment.
So when I tried to purchase a new prepaid SIM and put it in the phone and phone restarted, instead of saying "searching" it now says "no service".
There has to be a work around for this. Maybe changing the phones IMEI is the only way but if there are other alternatives I would like to know. I can program and have been writing code since I was 12 years old but not sure if I need special hardware to flash and internal EEPROM or something like that. Any hep is greatly appreciated!
I hear there are people that I can pay to do it but I enjoying learning things like this on my own so I would really like to do it myself if possible?
Changing the imei might be possible but for legal and policy reasons that can not be discussed here
I see tons of ways to do it with a Google search super easy. But it seems TWRP might do it or at least let me backup everything including the system partition so I dont lose anything and can always go back?
Where can I get and learn more about TWRP and must I be rooted?
Can we currently root Samsung GS6 with Android OS 5.1.1 ?
