When I play Zynga Poker (landscape mode game) the keyboard layout is hard to type accurately on..
Not sure if it is the size/dimensions of the N7 compared to my hand size or what when in landscape mode...
What I want: A keyboard that lets me setup some single press macro buttons.. so I can load phrases like "why did you call that?" Etc...
So ideally the keyboard would display buttons for user set phrases instead of a standard qwerty keyboard...
Has any one seen anything like that?
Thanks!

That's what I use.
Also look into some of those floating / resizable keyboards.

Just wanted to post this to let everyone know. There's a new app on the market called Null Keyboard by darken. Its simply a blank kb to give a full screen view, perfect for bluetooth keyboards. Also has a widget to quickly switch the active keyboard. Most importantly dev is amazing! Had a small problem and he had it fixed and uploaded in under 2 hours.

There's a new kb on the market called SwiftKey X and its pretty bad as.. I it can look throughout sms, gmail, twitter and facebook to pick out your typing habits and kinda learns how you type/talk.. Nice setup and the word prediction is outta this world.. for instance it will let you type a few words and actually predict what you're next words will be... Check it out I promise you won't be disappointed
* I'm just sayin......
Ya I have the original SwiftKey keyboard. SwiftKey X so far doesn't want to play nice with Keyboard Manager, and the hardware keyboard, though. I use Swype for portrait and SwiftKey for landscape and it's gotten stuck with the alt button a couple of times and I had to switch to another keyboard. But I think it'll be really good when they get the bugs worked out.

Sounds similar to the stock Galaxy S KB.

It's the worst damn feature on android. I googled it up and it seems the only cheap fix is going with a sub par keyboard.
Would it be possible to request for a mod that makes this universal for all keyboards?

Get SwiftKey from Google Play .. this version allows you the change the size of the keys
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS50b3VjaHR5cGUuc3dpZnRrZXkiXQ..
This does not stop the keyboard from going fullscreen.
I agree this is very annoying. I just made the leap from iOS to Android to get a larger screen. Now I have a larger screen and a darn keyboard takes up the whole screen?
Just seems counter productive.
Hope google changes this soon.

I use thumb keyboard, in settings there's the "suppress fullscreen windows" option just for that.

Hypothetically speaking, if one found a keyboard they liked but the only thing missing was swype, could a developer rebuild the app to include it? I'm really liking A.I.type keyboard but no swype capability is a bummer. Just curious.

Anything is possible, though I would think that's too much work to reverse engineer something that's already available on the play store and fits 99% of people's needs.
As it turns out, while using the keyboard the app prompted me to leave feedback and of course I told them it was awesome but would love to see swype integrated and they actually emailed me last night and told me they were currently working on putting it in.

I really like the stock keyboard but I like the layout options they have on theirs. I can put up the "period" key, "comma" key, smiley face, mic key, and numbers keys all at the same time without needing any of them to be long press keys. You can also adjust the keyboard height from the keyboard itself without going into settings. It seems to be a lot more convenient to use the keyboard this way.

Is there a port of the Sense keyboard or is there another keyboard with arrow keys that aren't buried behind 3 layers of alt key switches? A lot of people think the arrow keys are a huge waste of screen but I frequently edit long posts, and it's maddening trying to position the cursor somewhere exactly before or after some specific letter by jabbing your finger and hoping it does't misinterpret what you wanted as highlighting, zooming, cut or paste or delete, etc...

Yeah, SwiftKey has a toggle for arrow keys in its settings. They take up a little extra real estate, but I like them

I've honestly never seen arrow keys in Android... lol
Except for when I had the epic 4g and that was a physical keyboard.
I guess you learn new things everyday

I think legacy features still come in handy now and then. If you don't have the finger precision of a child-laborer, text editing can be a hassle without those arrow keys

Yeah true..
Well at least the s pen adds a bit more precision.
But I rarely find myself actually using it
So are the arrow keys specific to htc legacy devices?
Maybe that's why I've never seen them... I've never owned anything htc
I've played with some htc devices...but when I did they didn't have sense for very long for me to see them
No, HTC just happened to include the arrows as a feature of the Sense keyboard. SwiftKey includes it as a theme option.

Thumb keyboard 4 has arrow keys that are resizeable. Hell the whole keyboard is customizable from the size to layout and theme, I just wish it had an option for the 5th row of numbers
I like to break stuff!
touchpal keyboard has an option to show them too
a.i. keyboard has both the number row and arrows

I use Kii and it had asked add the for bottom keys as well add the top number row. It also allows you to customize the background.
