I want 4.2 (4.1.2 would do) on my Galaxy S3 sgh-i747m but I want whatever is closest to vanilla JB like my Nexus tablet uses. I've tried several roms, CM, AOKP and others but they all have stuff added to them, seems like they all do from what I've found. Does this exist?
Look in original development and there is a liquid AOSP ROM.

Actually just head over the original development section and peruse those.

Thanks, I haven't tried liquidsmooth, I've looked through the original development forum, I thought there may have been some sort of base JB without any mods at all though. I'm fairly new and still learnign what everything means on these forums.

This is at least the fourth thread I've seen asking this...I know this will sound annoying, but search just in the Q&A forum for "multiwindow" and you should find it, there were some roms mentioned that had it but I'm not sure if anyone mentioned a CM10.1 nightly
@Whiplashh Its not a TW feature the galaxy nexus has it and its pure google android

Pretty sure the galaxy nexus calls it multiview instead of multiwindow and the apks and files are different. Multiwindow in the note 2 is part of the tw frameworks as well as its apk and it won't work without the files in tw frameworks and the frameworks folder. Multiview I believe is the android alternative that was included in 4.2.x for the nexus 4/optimus g
I like to break stuff!

Not exactly they are comparable but thats like saying windows and linux are the same. Sure they do the same thing but they are nothing alike

Looking for a rom that has this option. And please better battery life than the stock jellybean update.
Thank you.

I have been through several roms. I was curious if someone had one right off. So i don't waste time downloading to see I don't like it or it don't have it.
Hense I downloaded one that said it had it to run and find out it doesn't work or isn't really there.

I think there will be a synergy rom port coming soon that will have multi window. Here's the announcement thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097878 so you can read up on it but It's closed now until the rom is released.
Thanks. I seem another one that look like it was close. I will check this out.

This is why these "suggest me a ROM" threads never work.
Synergy works just fine with no issues if installed correctly.
Those are the onyl two that have multiwindow. Synergy has a more stock look and galaxymod is more themed and custom.
Give them both a try because both are great works from great dev's
So I just got my new T889. First thing I did was come here. But this has raised some questions for me. I see a original note 2 development section and a development section. Im not wanting to brick my new baby so whats going on here?

The original t mobile roms are exclusively for us.. the development section is for us as well..cause most of the roms have no modem so you will be fine.. just don't stray from are section..are you could be asking for trouble.. I've flashed most of them so it's all good bro... I recommend the Rom from dwitherel it's called tweaked 1.5 my opinion the best one by far brother..

Good suggestion above. I'll answer your question though if the difference. Original are built from source and the devs work. Development is the dev using stock based or a kang of someone's work.

I think the difference between the two is just that tge original development is for when there's was not a section for the device yet... So just a couple of ROM and some stickies.. Now is like original for aosp and development for touchwiz...hopefully that's the reason why lol

What I noticed is that in original, it's AOSP based. In development, it's Touch Wiz based. I could be wrong, just look at the majority of roms listed in each forum.

And that's kind of what it ends up being because TW based are of course just development because they use Samsung work, but you'll also see some unofficial AOSP builds in the development section. They used to have a stickie explaining the difference, but it seems like it's gone.

Original Development means just that, original work not derived from a preexisting ROM for our device already. In example something built from source. All touchwiz ROMs are derived from either an offical release or leak from Samsung, meaning it's not original and falls into the Android Development section. All stock ROMs that are tweaked, themed, or ported from another device will fall into this category. Original development is not limited to AOSP ROMs, but all kernels as well since they are built from source. Another example of original development would be meego, or FirefoxOS if someone gets those built for our device. People are misreading the sections, they are BOTH Android Development Sections, one is just reserved for original work as I previously covered. Cheers.
I have the ParanoidKangDroid v.2.30 ROM. I saw that they updated the stock TouchWiz which allows you to have multi view on the s3. I want multi-view on my ROM, is it possible?

the stock TW you speak of is 4.1.2 and includes mulitview on the international stock firmware only.
for a custom ROM with that feature, you will have to flash one in which the framework allows. there are a couple in android dev section. i'm not sure of their stability. i've heard good things about csrom thebmb

Likely not. As a TW feature, it is dependent on the entire framework.

Didn't really like CSROM to well because it seemed like a basic themed TW, I was hoping it would come with more features like PIE or different UI's.
however if it had features like paranoid androids roms then i'd take it. I like to have the Tablet UI and PIE controls which is why I stick with AOSP, AOKP. Could someone speak with a developer about porting Multi-View to AOSP?
I appreciate everyone's help!

As long as source code for TW stays unreleased its impossible to port. That's why no devs bother to try and port. Its going in blindfolded. Same with Sense and other UI overlays. So when Samsung releases source code it'll be possible.

I didn't post this in the development section because I didn't make this rom and I am not affiliated with Jellybam. I just found this when searching around goo.im...
So it looks like we have a new, very cool rom for our device, which virtually no one seems to be using based on their download stats. It is a CM10.1 - Paranoid Android hybrid that has many cool features that I haven't seen on any other rom, certainly for this device. A good example would be the ability to add TW apps to this rom (see the pics).
Rather than me explaining all the features and writing this post like I own the rom (I don't!) you can check out the features here:
And you can download it here
How to Install
Like you would flash any other rom BUT it is different from other aosp roms since you don't have to install gapps - they're included
Please give it a try - it has only been downloaded 39 times for SGH-T889 so far! We don't want these people to think no one is using their rom

I don't think there are any. If there are I don't notice them anymore . I think some users miss the Touchwiz stuff though. You should have a go on this or one of the other aosp ROMs. It's a very different experience
