No USB reverse tethering on 4.2.2? - HTC One X

So i installed CyanogenMod 10.1 beta3 yesterday, was running many different 4.1 Jelly Bean roms before (Sense ARHD, Renovated, etc.)
For now i like CM very much, but there is one problem - can't find the USB reverse tethering (i'm not sure if i call it correctly in english, i mean accessing computer's internet connection on HOX via USB). Sadly i don't have a Wifi at home so this was vary important function to me
So my question is if there is no support for it in 4.2.2 android, or especcially in CM10.1? Or i'm just missing something. :/

Nope...exclusive for sense base only. Somehow there were wifi hotspot stuff program for windows if ur pc have wifi. Work same as wifi tether on phone. Google it..

Stock Android tethering on Sense rom

I have a simple question is there a way you can use the stock android tethering in a sense rom. While using a Sense rom with the wired(didn't work) and wireless tethering I preferred the tethering on CM6. Using PDANet was ok but the whole having to start on my phone and connect on my pc was kind of annoying. Also can we get the HTC camera from sense to work on stock Android. I'm pretty sure it has to have a sense framework installed but the camera is better than the stock Android one
Install this ROM/Includes Sense, Burnt Droid v1.2 and you will have what you want. Connect the phone to your laptop/desktop, select "USB tethering" and away you go.
With My phone connected to my LinkSys Wireless N router I am getting 11.65(down) and 3.78 (up), loving life.
Which rom?
I know it works with CM for wired and wireless. I'm using bakedsnack right now, meaning I'm having to use pdanet.

just download the pre9 release off of google

I'm still using EasyTether from when I was to lazy to root my hero and it works great. I prefer wired tethering to wifi because I don't have to worry about battery or other people getting on my connection. When I use it I only want it on my laptop anyway.

[Q] USB Tethering (CM7) with Mac OSX (10.6) ??

I cannot get the USB Tethering native to CM7 (7.0.2.1 on Evo) to work with my Mac (10.6).
Does anyone know how to get them to play nice?
My Growl hardware notifier shows 'Android modem' as a new device ... but it does not appear in network prefs or anywhere else.
Thanks!
Download "wired tether" from the market. Can't say it'll work with your mac, but I can't get the built in (cm7) usb tethering to work either.
I am on my MacBookPro right now, using the WiFi tether built into CM7. When my battery gets low, I just plug it into the usb port to charge, but leave it on Wireless tether. Works like a charm. Now, if only I had 4G coverage.
The Sprint "tweaked" WiFi tether on Deck's AOSP ROM works fine on my GF's MacBook Pro.....
I have no problem with WiFi tethering ... just wanted to use USB.
But from the fairly extensive searching I've done, it seems to be impossible, because Mac doesn't support something called RNDIS (which the 'wired tether' app requires as well.)
Oh, well...

[Q] ROMS supporting ad-hoc wifi connections?

HI Team,
As all of us know, Android out of the box (at least my HTC Desire Z which shipped with Froyo) does not support ad-hoc wifi connection out of the box. WE need to flash wpa|_supplicant to enable it. I have tried doing it but was not successful.
Currenly I am using MIUI v 1.9.16. This supports ad-hoc wifi out of the box without any hack. I really want to use HTC sense so my question is that does virtuous unity 2.37.0 support ad-hoc wifi connection on HTC desire Z?
Also, are there any other roms supporting this. I am tired of MIUI and want to switch to another rom...
HI,
SInce I did not get answers from anyone in the community, I just decided to flash them myself. Unfortunately, both Unity and Sense roms do not support the ad-hoc wifi connection.
As of now, only MIUI seems to be supporting this. Even CM 7.0.3 or CM 7.1 beta do not support ad-hoc wifi...I know almost every one in this community is expected to have a wifi connection at home, but some do rely on the usb dialers (a 3g usb stick) to get the internet connection!!!
Or just tether...

[Request] Reverse Tethering

Hey guys,
since i'm moving often, workwise, and don't have the luxury of great DATA speeds via my Phone often, and neither the Option to pair my Wifi with local hotspots or Routers in Companys.. i'd love a solution for the play.
So far i've tried
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-793102.html - Failed
I'm currently running CM7 (FXP Edition release 41 i believe) and it does NOT come with that option, though i've read that CM7 doas come with it on some devices.
Any help appreciated!
(BTW - a PORTABLE solution would be preferable, since it's Client PCs i'm sitting on mostly.)
My answer would be Yes, on whatever is possible. I guess any rooted rom could get that feature.

I have the same issue... I'm considering connecting my netbook with an ethernet cable and using the wifi to connect to my phone.
I haven't seen anyone successfully use ICS on Windows 7 to reverse tether to an Android phone through USB. (we use Windows 7 at work)
I think you need to enable RNDIS in kernel, for example to compile it as module.
Ive used connectify while i was on vacation.
You can turn your wifi adapter into a hotspot and put a password on it so you can connect your phone to your laptop while your laptop is connected to another wireless network (get it ?)
see http://www.connectify.me/
Well the thing is, I am usually connected via cable. So wifi is not an option.

[Q] Confirm Ad-hoc support?

Can anyone confirm Ad-hoc support? I know Honeycomb supports ad-hoc connections right out of the box (well at least I know the TF tablet does) so I was hoping that ICS supports connecting to an ad-hoc wifi connection. I'm not talking about tethering a device to the GN, I'm talking about reverse tethering. At work it's a cell black hole. Doesn't matter what provider you have, the signal is crap. I have Cyanogen on my OG Droid and it allows me to connect to the ad-hoc wifi connection I've set up on my laptop to give the droid some form of data connection while I'm at work.
I still want the phone regardless of whether or not it supports ad-hoc as I'm sure in due time it'll be easy enough to implement with a custom rom. It would just be nice to know if it'll support it when ever Verizon gets around to releasing it.
i ve flashed my SGS i9000 with ICS port rom , and i ve notice that there are no ad-joc support, thats really a big pity , i ve tried to find an application in the market to allow me to connect via ad-hoc networks , but i found nothing ... i hope there will be solousion soon time
Yeah, from what it looks like in the bug tracker, I believe the only reason why the Asus TF has Ad-Hoc support is because Asus enabled it themselves, not Google. I wish Google would take their heads out of their you know where and make this simple change. It's not like they need to research how to fix it since all the research has already been done.
Can't answer your question, but if you're running Windows 7, have you tried Connectify to make your laptop a hotspot? It's free and I hear it works pretty well.
Also, maybe there is a ROM out there that support the Bluetooth PAN profile (Android 2.3 doesn't, maybe ICS already does?), so you can just connect the phone to your laptop using that link, no wifi needed, less battery usage since it's bluetooth, and I believe that's what the PAN profile is intended to be used for anyway.
not working here
i tried editing tiwlan but did not find that config file
haven't found any other tutorials concerning adhoc on Android 4.0
btw it is issue number 82 on Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project (not allowed to post outside links for me)
Updated my phone to Android 4.0.2 and still no ad-hoc...
Is there an application that can do it?

I wish we had Win 7 at work. Sadly we're still running XP so connectify is a no go. I've also heard it works pretty well but sadly I can't even test it out.
I haven't tried Bluetooth PAN yet with the GN but I believe the bluetooth stack on my laptop is also crippled. I tried doing the same with my tablet (which I know allows bluetooth PAN) and the laptop wouldn't setup a proper PAN. Seems like we're SOL regarding Ad-hoc until someone releases a hack for it or a ROM comes out.
Any progress?
I've got the same problem... Poor reception at work, and running XP.
(Although, I've also got a Linux machine, and tried sticking an USB wifi adapter in it, but the stock driver doesn't support Master Mode on it. Maybe I should just get myself a new USB wifi adapter that's properly supported by Linux? Any recommendations?)

I haven't heard of anything yet. It doesn't look like any of the ROMs have it yet either.
I'm kinda lucky though, I was recently transferred in my company and I'm now located in a building where I get a decent 4G signal all day. Also my new laptop is Win 7. I did play around with connectify a bit. It works but not extremely well for me. I wind up losing connection quite often. I did read though that it's possibly something to do with AV or Firewall, and knowing my company, that's probably it.

I have Winxp at work also on my laptop and connectify works with my Asus transformer. But for the galaxy nexus it doesn't recognize the adhoc network during wifi scan. Need a new supplicant file installed.
