I have a need to have my Kindle Fire 2 returned to stock. I used the -Bin4ry's Root
-QemuRoot method to get root and have TWRP installed. I am running the latest CM 10 4.2.2 ROM from Hashcode. I didn't see a thread already talking about this. Might have missed it. Could I get some help with accomplishing this? Thanks!:good:
Reread the CM10.1 thread...last section of 1st post describes how to revert back to stock

I followed zedomax's tutorial on rooting after for some reason after being on stock rooted with TWRP I was able to install stock 4.1 jelly bean. After device reboots from odin I get no root. It would be nice to get root and TWRP back to get to my backups. Any help appreciated!

I've noticed once I root my first reboot I can get into CWM but if I reboot again im back to stock?
Maybe samsung prevented rooting with the new 4.1 jelly bean.
Hey guys, so CM10 has been giving me some minor troubles, and I'd like to flash my rom back to the rooted stock rom. Would I be able to just follow the same instructions and rooting it the first time around? Specifically these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426&highlight=restore
In my mind, doing the above is just like wiping the phone, and slapping the old image back on it, but I'm really afraid of bricking my phone, so I'm asking just to make sure. Thanks!
There is a stock firmware thread in the Android development section. Within that, there is a link to root-injected stock firmwares. Both threads have instructions. You should be all set.
Hey guys,
It's my first question on this website so please forgive me if I am too noob-ish with my questions.
So recently I got an OTA update for my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 asking me to update from jelly bean 4.1.2 to 4.3 and I did so with no second thought. However, within two weeks of using the new jelly bean version, I am sick of its performance issues, battery life, wifi problems and a host of other annoying things it brought to the table. So I went about looking for advice on several forms on how to improve performance and make my phone usable again.
In the end, I ended up rooting my phone successfully using a thread I found.
I also installed a custom recovery (CWM) so I could flash well-rated custom ROMs. Now, I have a few questions before proceeding since I came across a couple concerns other people expressed on other similar threads......I heard the new 4.3 update came with some kind of new bootloader and Samsung KNOX, and I've read that it could cause problems if I try to downgrade my phone back to the stock ROM (4.1.1) or 4.1.2.
So I have ruled out the option of downgrading my phone given the risk of permanently bricking it.
So my question and concern is.....can I go ahead and flash a custom ROM without bricking my phone? I am thinking about Cyanogenmod 10.2, which is apparently based on jelly bean 4.3. Can I install cyanogenmod 11 (based on 4.4 kitkat) instead of 10.2? What are my risks of flashing a custom ROM through CWM at this point?
Please help, I'm stuck!!! Any help is much appreciated

CNexus should see about getting his thread stickied in the Q&A section. I think it would help alot of folks with KNOX issues. Theres been a ton of repeat questions about KNOX.

Hey so I have another little question.....if I flash a stock MK3 file at my rooted S3, will I lose root as well as my custom recovery? I can't seem to find a thread on how to reload my stock recovery after installing CWM, Suggestions?

THIS thread may help
I'm personally running Dandroid 4.1.2 and it's great. I'd like to know step by step what I must do to update to Kitkat now that AT&T has a version released.
Do I need to "downgrade" to a stock AT&T rom and if so, what do I need to flash to do so?
Alternatively, is there a set of files bootloader/modem/and ROM that I can flash and not have to go through the downgrade process? Again if there is, I'd love some links to where I can get those files.
I understand that once I have Kitkat installed, I will need to use Towelroot to get root back again. I seem to understand that I also have to install SuperUser after running Towelroot.
When I do a walkthru at work, I go step by step, and don't assume that my target audience knows anything whatsoever. Please consider me the same. <G> What you post here may answer the same kind of question from someone who is just starting out with flashing ROMs.
I'm not a pro at these forums, so I'm not sure if I should be posting in this section. If not, could a moderator please move it to its position? thanks.
I am currently on d2att Snapshot cm11. I wanted to try KitKat, but meh. Running 4.4.2. When I rooted my phone at 4.3.3, I got too excited and forgot to make a nandroid back up (**** ME) so I don't have a back up I can return to. Anyway, I have TWRP and I really want to go back to Stock ICS. Not JB 4.3.3, but stock ICS. Is there anyway I can do this? I want to remove TWRP Recovery, CM, and go back to ICS if possible. Thanks....
More Info? (If Needed)

erm... rooted twice? (Rooted at ICS then updated to JB, I went down to 4.2.1?? i think and it removed root)
Battery Life of this phone is horrendous, I don't know what's wrong with it.
You should be posting questions in the questions forum, not the development forum.
Wrong forum and no you cannot downgrade because you will brick your phone since you were on 4.3.3.

You CAN downgrade the os version back to a stock rooted 4.3.3. You CANNOT downgrade your bootloader or it WILL brick your phone.
You may want to check on the AT&T Galaxy S III Android Development forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/development
There are a few options for stock ROMs and a lot of options for modified touchwiz ROMs
Moved to Q&A.
I believe the only way to get back to ICS would be with a jtag service as going back to ICS from JB or KK without jtag would brick your phone.
Does no one have a stock 4.4 flash?

Kinda seems to be some conflicting information, so let me give it a shot and hope I dont make any confusion worse.
First you need to verify your current base firmware/bootloader build. Install terminal emulator from the play store, open and enter this:
getprop ro.bootloader
This will tell you what build you have as your base. If it is a 4.3 or 4.4.2 build, you cannot flash any older firmware or modems. But you CAN still flash an ICS rom (or any other rom you want for that matter). (No guarantees this will run well though, since the version gap would be pretty large).
If your firmware/bootloader version is 4.1.2 or earlier, you are pretty much free to flash anything but 4.4.2 touchwiz roms.
I hope thst helps, and good luck!
