Did you search for the answer before posting?
You can odin a factory image onto the phone. Might find one for you here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746665
That will get the phone back to factory stock.
Yes

You're a rooting/flashing noob, not an Internet/google noob. Search the forums. There's a world of useful material for all of us here. There's no reason to be spoon fed

Search "Shipped ROMs" from the forum... or just go to (shipped-roms dot com). Should find what you are looking for there.

Thank you th3_g00b,
You set a new standard for the forum with this approach
I'm getting somewhat tired of the heckling shown elsewhere for honest mistakes.

I THINK, but I may be wrong, that since this method only requires putting files onto the sdcard and letting recovery and hboot do all the work, there should be no problems with using a mac.

Correct, since this method does not involve using an exe

Thread moved to Q&A.
-- Im not sure why the title of this thread went to that... It was supposed to say - Help on Root/Rom.
Okay, my phone lately has been slowing down and I've been thinking of resetting it. I remember my friend telling me awhile back to get a ROM for it and root it and stuff, I just dont know how to go about doing that.
I've been looking around on here but there's just so much information everywhere and a bunch of stuff that I'm not sure where to even begin...
Is there somewhere with a guide of how to do this stuff step by step to help install the root and custom rom to get my phone going faster?
Thanks
This is a great example of how not to make a first post on XDA!

I'm not super-advanced on these things. I've looked through tons of stuff before signing up and asking. There's just so much stuff thrown at you it's hard to know what you have to do.

Most of us started out where you were but I learned from reading what was posted and relevant at the time of joining. Just go through the first 10 pages of this Q&A section and see how many similar thread titles there are to this.
All you should be reading is the stickys and grasping some sort of understanding of what does what and why and how to do it.

You dont have to be super-advanced on these thing to make it work.
Just google for
"how to unlock bootloader on xperia arc"
"how to root xperia arc"
"how to install CWM on xperia arc"
Read a little bit of these tree up.
Then learn about flashtool and how to use it,it's not that hard.(you'll need it for flashing FW if something goes wrong and kernel for some ROM's.
Learn about roms for Arc and how to install them.
And you'll be redy to go.
This is what i did when i started rooting, unlocking bootloader and installing rom's.'Cousei wanted to learn a little bit about these thing so if i brick my phone how can i fix it.I bricked my phone so many times but here i'm,my phone is still alive.Just read a little bit about all these stuffs so you can understand how this works.
One more thing, when you unlock bootloader and root your phone and then install CWM you will be able to make nandroid backup so if something goes wrong you can restore nandroid backup and everything will be back to normal.I know all this sounds so complicated,it was for me aswell, but after reading about it and from others on this forum i understood how it works and i did it,not just with my phone i did it with my sisters Xperia X8 to.So its not that hard.Good luck and cheers.Oh yeah and sorry for my english.

I found for me personally, try hitting up you tube for tutorials on what you need to do. It's sometimes easier to grasp a concept when you can see it in action.

Hi. Apologies in advance, since I am sure that this has been asked before. Anyway, I would like to root my GSM Galaxy Nexus, but I am a newbie to the whole rooting thing. I found a guide at the following site (I can't post links)...
galaxynexusroot DOT com/galaxy-nexus-root/how-to-root-galaxy-nexus-universal-guidegsmverizonsprintwindowslinuxmac/ ...
that seems to be simple enough (I really don't know where to begin). Is that guide a good reference point? I'm just worried about bricking my Nexus, and looking for the easiest method possible.
Thanks in advance!

Easiest way to root and install TWRP, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2208863&highlight=wugfresh
Use the toolkit. Its hands down the easiest way and the method I had followed the first time myself. I am a Maguro owner myself! :good::good:

what are you talking about? it is awesome because you can always cry for help when you have no idea what happened to your phone.
If yu are a complete newbie, I suggest a Toolkit. I was and am a Linux user, so using command line is not a problem. But 1st time success helps you gather the courage to further dig into stuff!
So don't get me wrong when I suggested the toolkit.
easy guys, not wrong to begin with toolkit stuff. time will let him learn...
can someone point me to a 157 stock rooted rom? i can't seem to find it anywhere on this forum. Unless it doesn't exist for some reason?thanks in advance
you are kidding me???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/rom-d550314-4-0-157latest-t2957307
1) check your sarcasm, i'm not your son
2) that's not stock
3) if this is all that's available, i will use it, thank you for pointing me to it.
There is some threads about it that's first. Second you should even type in google or on xda here couple words before starts new thread. Third you should flash 108 kernel than use newroot and after that flash again 157 kernel. And that's all procedure
Happy flashing

I think I remember reading if you do an OTA with an unlocked bootloader you could brick it.

People are baffled how others, especially People with around 500 posts can start such threads when the methods to root can be found in the General section, which have been there for weeks, and if you've not found a stock rooted ROM or as close as in the first few pages of both development threads that suits your needs then you're out of luck. Simply flash a stock ftf and root it if you want a clean as possible ROM, then mod it to your own needs.

Thats most People say who start such threads when what they're asking for is usually on the first or second page of the General section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...rmeare-d5503customized-de1279-697814-t2931326
how you feel about it is irrelevant, if i'm telling you my search didn't work, it didn't work. Why would i voluntarily be dicking around here wasting time with you sarcastic people?
I appreciate the link

Again, members with nearly 500 posts should know where to find the most common files, so telling People you've searched, except for using your eyes as pointed out, then expect a little sarcasm.
