Not sure if it's possible, but given the prices of the Note II around here, it will cost me about the same to fix my S2 as it is to buy a Note II. When i open Kies on my laptop with the phone connected, it tells me the device is locked, and to unlock it first. Of course with the screen broken, that's not an option.
Any way to get around this, or am I out of luck? TIA for any help.
This is a stock version btw. Anyone?
Have you tried an adb backup?

I am running stock 4.2 on rogers in Canada. I have the latest wallet app with a prepaid card. I have done all the obvious things to get it working such as enable nfc, I am rooted, market enabler, open the apk, go to the prepaid card screen, go to pay and nothing happens. I have used all parts of the phone tapping. I was on a rom at one point and tried it and got it to say payment sending but with no success. Anyone have any ideas? I have searched the forum and there are other topics but nothing that solves my problem. Thx in advance.

First question, are you using an extended battery or any battery other than stock that might not have the NFC stuff?
Second question, are you able to get your hands on another Gnex/some NFC tags? I would try testing it with one of those to see if its just google wallet acting up, assuming you're using an appropriate battery.
My phone is stock. No mods of any kind. Software or hardware. And no unless I go into a store maybe and use theirs.

Might not be a bad idea, if you've got the time.

What kind of puter? You got the right samsung drivers?
I tried on my laptop (Mac) and desktop (windows) and yes they have the right drivers
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Well your mac laptop won't need drivers. If it's plugged in and your phone has the settings box checked for "MTP" then it'll be recognized. Did you download Android File Transfer? You'll need it to transfer files.
Is USB debugging checked? If so, uncheck it and try to install the drivers again. If you can't, shoot me your Gmail and I'll help you through G Talk.
Custom kernel? Make sure USB fast charge is off.
Ok! I tried the new cable that came with the replacement and it works just fine... its weird that the cable I have is not working anymore..

"Made in Korea" means it was manufactured by Samsung directly and not outsourced to some factory in China.
If you're unhappy with the signal drops you can try to get another replacement, or look at the threads here on signal drops for solutions
Yeah! I'm looking for ways to fix it.. but the one I had was made in china and was brilliant no drops nor anything. I curse the day I dropped and cracked the screen.. do you think I can just go to the Verizon store and ask them for a replacement

If you're within the return period, they will replace your device no questions asked. If you're over it, it would depend on the store you go to but more likely than not you have a good chance.
Just make sure you're stock and not rooted
I called yesterday and after a couple of minutes well an hour to be exactly they're going to send me a new device. That's what she said. But since today is 4th of July the phone should be here by tomorrow..

Hi,
My phone doesn't turn on at all and it is hardbricked. I was just wondering if there is any way to get back the data in which I have saved on the phone by any chance? Such as my pictures and so fort.
Also, how can I go about fixing a hardbricked phone by myself. I don't want to pay to send the phone in to anyone. I've looked around, but it seems most of the solutions on google are to fix softbricked phones.
Im using the Galaxy SII I727 btw.
Your best bet would be to post this in the galaxy s2 forum, and as this is for the note 2.

Hey guys,
Just trying to figure out how to do this.
I have a TMobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and i recently purchased a new asus laptop/tablet and it comes with Asus Instant Connect which allows you to use your samsung phone to tether with the laptop, BUT the application is only for Nexus, S2, S3, and NOTE, but not NOTE 2, so how can I make the computer think that I have an S3 instead of the NOTE 2
by the way, this application requires to have kies installed.
Please advise
You could just edit your build.prop to change what your device is an as, but I'm betting in this case it would be a little more in depth then just telling it you're using an s3.

Yep, i already changed the build.prop from T889 to T999 and restarted the phone but the program still knows
thats why I am asking on here lol

Probably would have helped to let us know that. As I guessed though it's more in depth then that so I won't be much help. Maybe one of our genius devs will swing by

If the computer is scanning the literal hardware itself, you may be out of luck, but I could be wrong.
srry for this new thread im very new to this but my sprint samsung galaxy s2 my friend recently try to root it and ended up messing it
the yellow triangle comes up and i can get it in boot downloader and it exactly says
ODIN MODE (in red)
product name: GT-I9100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (4 COUNTS)
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
and i have read mostly everything on try to turn it on to stock regular
but my computer isnt reading the phone like it wasnt even connected
and i just want to kno step by step what i need to download and what i need to do to fix it.
It looks like your friend tried to flash an international ROM to it... In that case, only Jtag can fix it. Mobiletechvideos will be able to help.

what or who is jtag but the thing is if i put it on a wall charger it works and the blue light is on meaning its charging
First. Are you 100% sure that what you have is the Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4g Touch?
Second. JTAG is a way to recover hard bricked devices. It involves taking the device completely apart and flashing the stock firmware directly to the phone through the JTAG pads on the motherboard.

Check them out. They do great work and offer a ton of services. There turn around time is great as well. They can even root and flash any ROM you like.

i think because when it used to work i connected to my bluetooth radio and it always said epic 4g touch so i thought it was one unless its not im not really sure
That would be proof that it is. I am afraid that your friend screwed the pooch. That device is only compatible with root methods and ROMs specifically made for it. Any other galaxy S2 ROM or root method results in the very least a boot loop and at worst a complete brick. You are stuck in between and require a JTAG.
