Hey guys, I have recently rooted my kindle fire (running 6.3.1) and added, GO ex pro but later on I decided I want full android jellybean, so I downloaded all the necessary files for 4.2, got rid of GO ex pro, and everything went fine until idiotically I had only installed the the jellybean ROM and completely forgot to also add the Google play store, so before I had noticed Google play was nowhere to be found in TWRP I tried flashing jellybean but it wouldn't even open the screen that allows me to flash it, by then I had realized Google play was missing so I plugged it back into the computer to download it but now it is reading my kindle as a android ADB interface and wont let me copy the files to it, thus making it impossible to add Google play, I have done everything I could possibly think of, and had not found anyone with the same problem anywhere, so I am in dire need of help, Right now it flawlessly runs the kindle stock OS but that's it, I want it to run 4.2 instead, but if I cant put the Google play store on that's out of the question, PLEASE HELP! Thank you in advance.
So you're on rooted stock, right?

Do you still have access to TWRP?

Yes I have access to TWRP, and I am running stock kindle fire OS, no custom ROMS, just have the permanent root with super user.
And of course, TWRP.
In TWRP, mount your sdcard as a USB device and transfer GApps and whatever ROM you want, wipe system and factory reset, then flash your ROM and GApps.

Hey guys did you install the GoogleFramework.apk from a phone or a 7" tablet? Wondering because I was thinking of trying installing the apk of a 7" tablet on the gf's Fire.

It would help if you gave more details of your setup. It sounds like you have a stock Kindle Fire (not rooted and no custom rom).
I will tell you what I did because I know that it will work for sure, but I cannot say with certainty that it was necessary...
I matched GoogleFramework with my Android OS. When my Kindle Fire was still stock, I got GoogleFramework from an older GingerBread GApps .zip, because the stock ROM is based on GB. It worked fine. I simply unzipped the GB Gapps and grabbed GoogleFramework.
If you have a custom rom installed already, just flash the appropriate Gapps directly -- GoogleFramework will automatically be installed.
My apologies it's currently rooted and running a GB framework. I should've asked first if there's a difference if the framework apk came from a tablet or a phone. I wanted to install some tablet apps but it says that it's either incompatible or it doesn't run correctly on the Fire. So, I was wondering if installing a different framework would matter, or is it dependent on the ROM?

Hey there! So I have a Kindle Fire that I just rooted with the method shown here; http://rootkindlefire.com/kindle-fire-root/how-to-root-kindle-fire-6-3-1/
It worked like a champ. I then went ahead and made a backup of my stock rom. After that I installed the ICS ROM on the Kindle using the TWRP recovery and this zip; http://rootkindlefire.com/kindle-fi...an-rom-for-kindle-fire-best-romandroid-4-1-2/
Anyway, everything is rad with it, but I am now unable to install the Google Play Store onto my Kindle. I tried to boot into recovery then install the ZIP for the Play Store (called "market-framework.zip") but it just says "error flashing zip". Anyone know what I can do to make this work? Or do I need to go back to stock, install Play Store, THEN flash the ICS ROM? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Flash in recovery
Thanks for the reply. My device isn't on the list in that link and i don't think the ROM I installed is from Cyanogen, but maybe I'm wrong. Also all that says it's for the GB OS and I'm on ICS. So will it still work?

I have ran may roms on my kindle fire without a problem.
I always wiped the system/factory reset before install a new rom and promptly install gapps after.
I was running Hash's latest 4.2.1 Rom and was getting issues with a few apps so I tried to flash back to Jandycane.
I have the latest FFF and no matter what rom i flash i keep getting stuck at the loading bar for each rom.
I have also cleared both caches after flashing. Any ideas?
No Progress yet
I have tried multiple rooms and clearing everything. I also have tried to redo everything with the kindle fire utility but I am having issues getting the adb driver to work in Windows 8.
Im not much help as Im new but out of curiousity, what issues were you running into? Im running jandycane now and was thinking of switching.
Thanks.

The issues were apps crashing on loading, particularly the clock, I thought a clean install of a rom would fix it all, but I have now ran into this issue.
Is there any problem with having fff and twrp installed at the same time. Im running only twrp now.
Finally got the kindle fire utility with adb on windows 8 and re installed TWRP. I re flashed my roms and it all works now.
Glad to hear it

I have both FFF and TWRP installed and everything is running great! I have Hash's 4.2.1 with the 11/30 Gapps running.
Hi guys, im kind of new to this, I use to play around with android on phones, change kernals but it has been so long im lost. I have a 1st gen kindle (was on 6.3.2) that hve rooted and installed twrp 2.5.0 but I cant seem to flash any roms. Every time I flash a rom it said " failed to flash "filename" then it just checks the partition. Im not sure what is wrong. Im tying to flash either jelly bean or cygenamod but neither work.
Try posting in the first generation kindle thread.
Any advice from here will only hurt you

Hi all members I need little help. I have rooted My Kindle fire 1st Genration few days ago. I want to upgrade the android version so i can install apps that i need. Currently kindle android is only 2.3.5. I can''t install apps that i need.
I have TWRP Installed and i also tried a jelly bean rom but it failed and shows lines on screen. The good thing was i created the backup before flashing the rom.
Please Suggest the best Rom. My Kindle System is 6.3.3. Thank you
There is no best rom, Everyone uses their device different.
verify md5 checksum for all files https://sites.google.com/site/sdshadowscollection/home/hash-checksums
You must use correct TWRP version for the rom you are installing http://forum.xda-developers.com/kin...indle-fire-flashable-recoveries-twrp-t2811253
You must use the correct Google Apps (GApps) http://goo.gl/VrNwpV
Most Roms are posted here [INDEX] Kindle Fire Development
I recommend you convert to otterx

I second that. OtterX has been out for a relatively short time and there are quite a few ROMs already available (Slim, AICP, PAC,etc.). Only way to go.
