I have 3 questions that I've been asking over and over again in the forums, yet no one seems either see my questions, or wants to answer. Now I'm forced to make a thread.
1) Is there anyway to uninstall Titanium Backup in CM6, and use the one we've purchased? Because right now it's uninstallable...as a system app I'm guessing.
2) How can I go about Installing the Droid X keyboard onto this ROM? I have one that's made for FroYo, but says it can't replace the built-in multi-touch keyboard that's NO WHERE in the program list. Is there another way of going about it?
3) Replacing the bootanimation.zip in this ROM leaves me with a black boot screen, while on other ROMs it's easily replaceable. Why is this? And how can I correct this?
I hope someone can help me...
3) Which folder are you replacing the bootanimation.zip in?

For the CM6 Nightly Build (possibly a FroYo thing), it seems that bootanimaiton.zip is located in "/system/media"...which is where I've been replacing it at via either push or root explorer.
I remember it used to be in "/system/customize/resource(s)" which is no longer available.
Hi there.
I where in the need of a list of included Apps in official HTC rom that can be safely removed and couldn´t find any list with descriptions so i wondered if anybody have such a list so it could make it easyer and less fustration to remove apps you don´t want in the roms without you having to reflash 100 times to figure out what ones can´t be removed without making it buggy.
so does anybody have a list of Safe to remove apps Perf. with descriptions of what the apps does/is for?
I have an apk for an HTC IME keyboard that I got from the manup theme website. Everywhere I look it says I can just install the apk as usual from a file manager. Each time I try I get "This will overwrite a system file, proceed?" and I click yes and it looks as if it installs but then I get a message saying "The application did not install"
Is pushing it though only alternative or am I overlooking something to be able to install it with a simple apk install?
Bump.
I'm wondering the same.
Greetings,
I'm guessing this is an ODEXED vs. DEODEXED issue.
Neither posts here indicate whether this is a STOCK ROM, or NON-STOCK.
If NON-STOCK, which one?
The devil is in the details, if you provide the details, we can better exorcize the devil.

You already have a keyboard using that name installed. That's why you get the conflict. Therefore, the answer is to remove the one you already have, to install the other. Since the one you have is installed in /system, not /data, you can't just overwrite it.
That, or get one prepared by someone with a little more on the ball, that doesn't conflict.
Seems rather simple.

My only thought here, was that if it wasn't a stock ROM, that it may be a custom keyboard app.
So there could conceivably be a better route to take to resolve the issue.
Not that your suggestion is wrong/bad.

I'm running Fresh 3.3.0.1 Deodexed.
There is another IME board. So, they're may be a way to overwrite it? Or do I have to figure out how to uninstall it?
I'm an AOKP fan. As anyone knows, this is one of the ROM's that are frequently updated. Problem is, every time I upgrade I have to re-flash Gapps and also remove all the unwanted apps all over again.
I end up removing about 15-20 apps every time I flash an upgrade.
Is there a script or something I can create to take a ROM zip and automatically add only the Google apps I want and remove all the apps that exist, which I don't want? Something other than doing it manually every time?
I've never made a complicated script before. Not quite sure if it's what I need or how to make one.
If your interested in setting up a gscript script I could probably do a quick tutorial for you. I used to use it on CM7 on my dext to get rid of unwanted system apps. Let me know and I'll shoot you a link to the tut I did on Simply Android.
Hello,
The back button of my phone is broken and doesn't work anymore.
So I want to change the search key to be the back key and vice versa.
Can anyone provide me a flashable zip or is that impossible?
I don't really have the skills to pull it, edit the file and then push it back to my phone
I already tried the app button remapping but it doesn't seem to work.
.
Thanks in advance,
Rsdf430.
Go to system>usr>keylayout and modify bravo-keypad.kl as you wish. Root explorer recommended.
Reboot required
Could tell you...
Hello, are you using a custom ROM? or rooted?... I could tell you if you are using the same/similar ROM as I am...I think i had the option to change hardware keys.
