I was trying to downgrade and the phone seemed like it was stuck after hboot to PB31IMG so I pulled the battery now when I try to boot the phone, it vibrates but gets stuck on a black screen. Please help

I think the phone is booting up, the buttons at the bottom will light up and the charging light will come on but the screen stays blank.
If you can get into HBoot...try to do a RUU with these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817487
Also...how long did you wait before pulling the battery? And what exact step were you on when you did it?
I waited about five minutes and I cant do ruu because I cant see anything. The screen is black. Thats the step I was on. It said updating do not turn off. After it was done. I let it sit and it didn't do anything so I did a battery pull, I have the phone charging now and the charging light is on.
you probably should have waited at least 30 min...most of this stuff needs time usually if it seems like it's hanging its probably not. did you try getting to hboot yet?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I didnt know to wait that long. Also, I tried but I cant get to anything, the phones charging light is on and when I hit the power button, the charging light goes away but the screen stays black. The lights at the button are on also, so it looks like the phone is on but the screen is black.
pull the battery again, then hold vol down and pwr til u get to hboot then let us kno wat happens

Am I missing something? I thought I couldnt get into hboot because I cant see whats going on. The lights at the bottom are lit up and the charging light is on but the screen is black. If the screen is black, I wont know if Im in hboot right?
call Verizon and told them your phone had a black screen. they will send u a replacement phone.
ive never been able to not get into hboot with anything dumb I've done to my phone

I just got this today from best buy. The bottom lights are coming on and so is the charging light, just not the screen. Is this something I definitely did or could I just have a lemon and the screen be bad.

just call verzion. also, dont tell them you are rooted or s-off.
I got it from best buy today, I noticed on the hboot screen it did say s off but this happened when I was trying to unroot. If I can fix it great, if not, i dont want to take it back and get charged for it.
it sounds like youre ignoring the help I'm giving you and youre just tring to turn it on everytime, phone needs to b completely off for hboot yo. yes you did something wrong to it. we just need to kno if u can get there to kno if u f'ed urself or not and fix it for you

Here is the fix for the Desire: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748498
In theory this fix should work the same for the Incredible, you just need to find the correct Rom.
The problem is that you tried to revert to the stock 2.1 for AMOLED screen phones, and you have a SLCD screen.
Now you basically have to find the SLCD version (not sure if there is one for 2.1?) and blindly get into HBOOT/Recovery and hopefully press the correct buttons to install the SLCD Rom for your phone.
I think this is the rom you want to try flashing (it's the stock 2.2 RUU): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IH461NS4
Good luck...
nevermind then, try lookin for clockworkmod on crack post in development heard it has the drivers for slcd, you have to rename it pb31img.zip on root of sdcard so you can see recovery

Im trying to listen to what your saying, idk if im doing something wrong. These are the steps im using.
1. I pull the battery.
2. put the battery back in while holding volume down with the power button.
3. it turns back on, i hit up a couple times on the volume
4. the phone turns on, the bottom lights and the charging lights are on.
I can hear the volume go up and down, when i hit menu, home, back, or search the phone vibrates. When I use the volume up and down buttons I can hear the volume going up and down so the phone is on.
I appreciate your help and want this fixed, i may be doing something wrong and sorry if I dont understand but Im not trying to deliberately ignore your advice.

Try to beat it, its frustrating. You have to be quick. I was doing that fast. Once you go into cwm recovery use the bottom buttons of our phone to navigate thru it.

i REALLY hope the boot screen animation doesn't pop up when i bring it into t-Mobile, im afraid they wouldn't replace my phone in that case.

try this it will boot your phone into recovery automatically as long as your computer recognizes your phone. just open up the application bat file on computer within 2-3 secs it boots you straight to recovery. good luck.

i think this must be it... cus i managed to get it to boot, and everything loaded fine. but as soon as it got past the boot animation, the toggle that has power off, screenshot, etc (the thing that pops up when you hold the power button on) comes up immediatly.
how can i fix this bs?
Either you have a defective button or you need to clean it because it might be getting stuck for some apparent reason .
ok so i for sure have a stuck power button... im gonna go to t-Mobile tomorrow to try to get this sorted out.
thing is, im on the latest AOKP nightly, are they gonna **** me over on my insurance policy (the like 3-4 bucks you pay a month to tmobile) cus I rooted my phone?

Mostly likely yes if the tmobile knows its not stock. They could say it was your fault by saying you put a defective rom on your phone that's not factory. They try to get out of s**t all the time. But you could get lucky. But if I were you I would restore it to factory before I took it to the store. Just to be on the safe side.
I recently Rooted my sealed samsung galaxy s3 without having a clue what i'm doing i downloaded this program called snapdragon to root it along with ODIN. The phone rooted fine everything was working okay, I even downloaded an app to see if the root was successful and indeed it was. I shut the phone down wake up in the morning to turn it back on and I get zero response. Any help/direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Yes of course I've tried leaving it plugged in for several hours and the night before the phone was at 100% charge so I doubt battery is the issue.
Tks though

Ummm seems like u can fix it.... go bak to stock using odin as well and go back to stock and i believe cwm is going to be gone so as your root access so re-do it but this time guide yourself through a turorial(a.k.a google) and since you have to clue i think the best choice for you is to find a video tutorial in case your doubting or getting confused with the steps or sometimes to see what you did wrong that caused the phone to misbehave...

This is why I hate one-click-root kits, you get people doing things to their phones they don't understand, wreck it and come here saying "help, I don't know what do do!" Something like this you really should at least understand the basics. I hope this gets you more involved in researching what's actually happening. It's important to know what's happening to your device as well as why, that way if something goes badly you'll have an idea of how to get out of it.
Sorry, enough lecturing, let's see if we can get something going here. Give a bit more detail about what happens. You're phone is shut down, right? You hit the power button and no response, like the battery is actually out of the phone, or does it turn on and give you a blank screen? If it was a brick, I'd think you'd at least see the boot screen before everything goes wrong.
Ok, I'm going to go ahead and assume you've removed the battery. If you haven't, do so now.
If it still won't turn on, try actually holding the power button down for 30-60 seconds. I had a scary moment with my phone yesterday, rebooted it running Wicked v5 on Trinity and the screen just died. I've been running that rom for a week with just a couple of issues here and there, nothing out of the ordinary. Pulled the battery and tried again, nothing. After holding the power button down for a bit I felt a quick vibrate, then the boot logo came up. No idea why, I'm going to have to look into it.
Beyond that, I'm brand new to this phone and Sammy's Android devices so I'm still learning myself. HTC phones I could help out more with, but I'm still a bit clueless with this thing.

Yes I have taken out the battery replaced it several times. I hit the volume home and power button several times. When I do that I get a zero response nothing shows up I hear no sound its as if the phone is just completely dead. One thing I did realise is when I plug it into the computer and press the power button what would happen is it would connect and automatically disconnect

Don't forget to let go of the power button when going into recovery.
Have you done what the other post said?
Hold power for about 10-30 seconds. Does it do anything? Do you feel a verrrry slight vibration?
When you plug it in without doing anything else does the computer see it in device manager? How about if you press power once? Or holding power down?
Does it register that its charging?
This may sound dumb but did you try powering up without the phone plugged into anything?

Ummm. Sorry but maybe im missing something? Your first sentence in your op says you didnt have a clue what you were doing....
And where is it supposed to infer that you've done everything already?
Imo you have been getting 'real' advice but from what I see you haven't 'really' answered anyones suggestions.
No one can help you if you dont tell us what exactly you have tried and what what happened when you did.
For example in your only response you mentioned hitting the volume and home keys a bunch of times....what exactly do you mean by this? Did you hold them while trying to power up? Volume up or down? Did you release any of them during that process, and if so which and when?
Its kinda hard to help someone who doesn't have a clue what they are doing and only responds that hes done everything common sense dictates.
I seriously mean no offence but to me common sense would dictate that you not try rooting or anything if you know you dont know what you're doing.
It would also dictate that if you want further help with this you should go back and respond to what everyone suggested.
Like I said, im not trying to offend, just help.

I am having the same issue
I just tried flashing Android Revolution to my phone. I went through the whole set up process. Went to reboot then it went blank. Nothing. I get nothing when I plug it in. The computer doesn't recognize any device attached to it. I've tried all the ideas listed here and I get nothing. It's as if the phone is completely dead. When I flashed the rom my battery was at 90%. I've used various roms on different phones and this was the first time I did it to my Galaxy s3 and this is the first time it's ever happened. Talk about frustrating.

I have rooted my phone samsung galaxy grand 2 via odin after that flash the rom cm 11 and reboot my phone it got stuck into boot loop. Then i have done 1 stupidity again i push twrp file in that now m not able to go in recovery mode what should l i do now.
Wrong forum, look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-grand-2
I don't know anything about the phone but you could try looking for the current ROM on the phone at sammobile.com and then re-flash it via Odin.
i unluged the device before dhe odin finished his job ( by mistakeee ) and now it doesnt turn on , charge , go to recovery/odin , hold down power button for 30-60-120 sec nth hapend, it has baterri 90-100 % . plss guys help me :'( i have an samsung galaxy s advance .
I'm on Liquid Smooth v2.1, Android 4.2.2. No custom kernel, just whatever it comes with. Been running fine for months.
This morning I dropped my phone in my car (a few inches drop) and it went into a bootloop. It eventually booted into Android and I backed up all my apps and texts to my SD card. But afterwards it went into another bootloop and now its stuck there. It will start booting, and then restart (most of the time before the boot animation even comes up). I need to get into recovery so I can restore an older Nandroid or maybe try wiping the cache. I have tried using power/volumeup/home, but it bootloops by the time recovery is starting up. ADB on my computer will not pick up the phone. Sometimes for a few seconds it will show up, but it has an "offline" next to it and by the time I enter "adb reboot recovery" it says no device found.
If I take out the battery for 30 seconds, it makes it pretty far into the boot.
What steps should I take next? I know ODIN is last resort, but I'd prefer not to go there. Thanks guys.

I was able to get it to boot for a few seconds, and the power menu kept on coming up until it died. Does the phone turn off if you hold down the power button for a long time? Seems like I gotta get that fixed. I'll try the sideways suggestion in a bit.
Yeah, if you hold power and never let go, it'll reboot over and over. It's intentionally like that so if you ever have the system lock up you can still do a kind of hard reset. (Better than a battery pull, though that can still be necessary if you want it to just turn off)

Anyone know if I were to remove the power button completely, would the phone work without it? I don't really need it, and removing it would make the phone usable. Just wanna make sure the phone doesn't run a check or something. I'll order a new power button in the spare time and install it later.

it'll prolly work but if phone shuts off not sure if you will be able to turn it back on without a power button, what I did for the time being is get the phone of and basically tap on the side of the phone with the power button towards the floor kind of like trying to get gravity to push the power swith inside to be back to the normal position. Then don't touch the power button, there are apps in the play store that can function as your power button.

Yeah, I watched a YouTube video and he fixed it like that. So I basically hammered the button as hard as I could with my nail for a minute straight and now it doesn't bother me anymore until you press it. I can live without the power button, but I'm probably going to have to remove/replace it since I can't risk bumping into the button on accident. Thanks for the help though!
Does anyone know of a method to turn the phone on without the power button? I know on my Nexus One you could Insert the battery while it was charging to force a reboot.
Afaik you'll just have to restart every time till it's fixed.

Yes, but how would I go about restarting it without the button?
There's apps in the play store. Button savior might be one. Can't recall names for sure.

I didn't have luck finding an answer to this on the forums so I figured I'd make a new post. I have been running a version (not sure which) of Liquid Smooth for a few months. Yesterday, I noticed my phone was on a boot loop. It would vibrate, show the Samsung Galaxy S3 screen and then turn off. I pulled the battery and memory card and tried again. It still wouldn't come on. I pulled the battery and then rebooted to recovery mode. I went there to wipe and reboot. When I tried to do that it said something like, "what you are looking for can't be found". I pulled the battery again but this time when I tried to turn it back on it did nothing. I have no vibrations, I have nothing on my screen. I'm not sure what could have happened because I haven't made a change to my phone for quite some time. Any ideas?

Battery is going bad or the hardware is going bad.
What recovery and version?
Have you tried booting into recovery or download mode?
Take battery out and put back in:
Recovery: volume up, home button, power
Download mode: volume down, home button and power

I'm not able to get the phone to come on so I don't know the versions of anything I've used. All I know is my phone is the T-999. Sorry, I know that's probably no help at all.
You don't have a spare battery do you? If not, you should see if you can find someone you know that has one. It could be that you battery just went bad.

I tried all of this but did not have any luck. The phone doesn't do anything. It doesn't make any sense how it can just stop working out of nowhere like this. Wouldn't it mess up immediately after I rooted/added a custom ROM if I did something wrong rather than a few months later? I'm afraid that the phone may be done for. : (

I hate to say it, but usually when something like this happens it's most likely to be hardware related. If you don't have access to a spare, go to a T-Mobile store and ask to borrow a battery to see if it'll power up with a known good one. Batteries usually don't just die like that, but it can happen.
So you don't get a short vibe or anything out of it? What about when you hold the power button for about 10seconds? If you remove the battery and plug it in, do you get an led lit up? How about with the battery in?
If the battery turns out to be good, you could attempt the debrick method by KAsp3rd stickies in development. I don't see why it would be a brick, but at this point I'd try anything available just to be positive.
If you have insurance on it, it may be time to consider using it.
Sorry to hear this is happening to you man. These S3's are starting to get a little old though, and no matter how careful we are, they do suffer more abuse than any other electronics we may use. I'm seeing more and more posts like yours recently, I'm sorry to say.
Keep us updated on it, and good luck with it!
