Hi Everyone
I'm hoping to get some answers here before i proceed any further....
i have just got my phone back from being repaired, after months setting it up just how i like it i now have to start over again as its been wiped clean,
Question 1. i plan on using the TOOLKIT v3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923956 to root my phone, i also see that the tool kit enables me to perform a Nandroid back up, would i be right in thinking this takes a whole copy of my phone so that if this happens again i can just recover the file and my phone will be back to how it was, including things like settings within apps, not just phone settings?
Question 2.Does rooting the phone mean my counter will rise or is that only when you flash a new rom?
Question 3. Regarding the Nandroid back up, does anyone know where this is stored, phone, external sd card or pc?
Im sure there will be more questions as i go along but these are the main ones for now.
Thanks Pete :fingers-crossed:
Can anyone help me with this? , please
Hi if your phone is not root use TOOLKIT v3 then after you have root your phone enter recovery and make a backup on internal sd card or external sd card, then install a costum rom if you want.
I hope i help you.

Yes

Depend where you chose to make the backup internal sd or external sd card

Correct me if i said something bad.
Rooting won't raise counter.
Flashing custom recovery or kernel would.
Nandroid is like norton ghost if you have used it.
It will backup every byte written on your phone.

ok so looking at the tool kit in my post when it talks about rooting it gives me a few options.
i take it option 1 & 2 wont raise my counter but options 3,4 & 5 will raise the counter?
also if i go for option 1 will i still be able to carry out a nandroid backup, im just worried in case i have to send the phone back again and they see that ive rooted and say the warranty is void!
Thanks Pete

Hi could you answer my questions from post 5 please
You can do nandroid back up irrespective of anything from toolkit. I do think root is needed though.
But to do it from phone itself you need recovery. But since you are extreme counter conscious and you should be then don't give a damn option 2 is best as some apps still require busy box. You can say it's a kind of .net for some root operations.

Read your post( #5), yourself only mentioned that option 1 and 2 won't raise counter, and my answer was regarding that only, UtkarshGupta said it won't raise counter,i am not agree with that, according me it was possible if toolkit using Exynose abuse, my question was not out of subject but was just only to provide best answer to you, so i have head up , if you feel discussion was not necessary, you can carry on. If you don't understand why I have questioned then it's your misunderstanding, i don't need to ask questions for me.

I'll clue you in on the problem....xlite is a rom for the international galaxy siii and you are in a forum dedicated to the AT&T version. One would deduce that you flashed the wrong rom on your phone. My suggestion is to read, read, read before you flash anything else if you are able to unbrick your phone.

Dude, everyone else flashed it with no problem at all. If you had a problem, its YOUR fault. This is why devs have to put a disclaimer with there roms, cuz stupid people mess up there phones and blame it on the devs work. They arent the ones who did something wrong to your phone. Haven't had to charge the phone since I performed the mod. I think this mod writes to /mnt/sdcard/new folder...which in turn does absolutely nothing besides enable immortal battery tweak.
Will this trip my flash counter?
I hadn't thought of that until you mentioned it. I just checked and unfortunately it does trip the counter. Before the mod I was at 0, and now it reads over 9000, and no longer samsung official... If attempted make sure you grab a copy of Triangle Away.

if you have backed up EFS then it's cool.... you said you backed up the folder? do you literally mean backing up the folder or did you use a program like EFS Pro to backup? it's better use a software like EFS Pro or WIN EFS BACKUP RESTORE
so did you flash the modem?

I have an Italian N7105 too with H3G network carrier so can I really flash the honk-Kong carrier modem? And it work just fine with Italian carriers?
Otherwise where can I find some other modem to flash that will work with my carrier?
Sorry but I'm still a noob to this kind of mods
Thanks

read this thread from the beginning I have posted links to download modems.. I don't know about Italy read about their frequencies but I'm only assuming if you have an N7105 then the modems should work for you and don't forget to backup EFS...please read the whole thread..... also you can ask antonello66 who started this thread about his experience I believe he is from Italy

firstly battery drainage will always happen whenever you use mobile data especially 3G/4G and even more when you are on the move like waking or in the car
before you blame too much on the modem have you gone to SETTINGS > BATTERY to see if there is an app which drains more battery??
also if all fails just flash some other countries modem...i use Hong Kong version and I'm happy with it.
