[Q] Default Email THEME? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I've been a Note2 user since it first came out.
One thing that had been an ongoing annoyance is that there are no options to change the theme of EMAIL client - black background with white/blue/grey words on the email overview page. This default view is not very visible under day light use to be precise, i often have to cover my hand over the screen to make shadows so i can see it, and its not even a very bright day light.
Does anyone have any suggestions to improve this?
Any mods to make this better?

if your device is rooted, and you are used to edit files with root explorer or other just add this line to other.xml in system/CSC
<CscFeature_Email_UseFixedBgColorAsWhite>TRUE</CscFeature_Email_UseFixedBgColorAsWhite>
Read this for more detail

I want to know this too!
To my knowledge, this is not able to be done with a reg hack on the smartphone devices.
An add-on application (not free), X-Bar 3.2 will accomplish what your are asking as well as provide other functionality not native with smartphone OS:

^^ Just tried to check that link out but its dead?
remove the double http - it is not dead...
OOpsss! haha way to early in the morning for me to notice that =X sorry
and you guys are sure tehre is no way to add it without this program?
there's no way unless you add a program.

thanks

You can set it to 12-hour time by specifying the "-12" parameter. The way you do this is by creating a shortcut to the ClockOnTop_QVGA_WM5.exe file (\Program Files\ClockOnTop\ClockOnTop_QVGA_WM5.exe).
Here is an example shortcut file:
Code:
55#"\Program Files\ClockOnTop\ClockOnTop_QVGA_WM5.exe" -12
Put this in \Windows\Start up.
Only problem with this is that there will be a Chinese character appended to the time, and I am not sure how to get rid of it. If someone could search the registry for this program, maybe there is a language code that can be modified...
hey guys, thanks a lot for this program, its exactly what i needed. however, i'm really sorry, but i'm completly new to this, and i need to change it to the 12 hr format. if you could please explain how to do this in an easier way (i dont know how to make a shortcut?) i would really appreciate it. thanks a lot
omar
hey guys, can somebody plz help me out, with how to change the clock to a 12 hr format... the previous post was just too complicated, thank you
omar
anybody, please explain to me how to switch it to the 12 hr format?????
Ormaralt,
Follow the instructions on my site. Much easier for those who don't know how to modify shortcuts

Saving email and other settings

Hi Guys,
I tried doing a search but i cant find any threads on this.
Does anyone know how to save all your settings before u do a flash? settings like the emails settings are pretty time consuming as i put in nearly 4 email accounts. It would fantastic is i could just copy a single setting file each time i flash the rom .. that way there will be less inertia to reflash again
You need to do a more thorough search next time
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308100
thanks man.. but actually was just looking if there is a single setting file for the email accts .. i dun really need all the other settings to be saved as i run my phone pretty bare..
i dun suppose there is a single file that you could just copy and paste over is there?
Nope sorry. The settings are all contained in different areas of the registry.
That program is about as elegant as you can get.
There is a way of making your own .cab file for these settings so that you only have to make that once, then re-run it when you flash your phone to get all your settings and stuff back. There is a thread somewhere about how to do it.
I've had a brief look myself but not yet got around to doing it - i'll have another look this afternoon and see if I can work out how to do it easily and post a guide for everyone else.
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Woohoo!
Just noticed that that was my 100th post and I'm now a senior member - about bloody time ;-)
Does this mean I have to do my own ROM now? ;-)

There are several threads on this forum abous this. Just search more.
For now try to use my example here that sets my POP3 and Exchange accounts. Just put your own data in and load it in a XML loader or make it a .cab file.
cheers,

PM me and I will walk you through making your own cab for them. fairly easy.
Thanks
I'll have a look for myself first and do some reading - I always find that if I do that, I can do it easier next time round as I "know" how to do it and what's wrong when it doesn't work But I'll definitely take you up on your offer if I get stuck

*MOVED* [Tutorial] Skinning Manila - the compendium.

As I was smart enough to forget to reserve more than one post in this thread, I've created a new thread for the tutorial. Find the new thread:
HERE
I'm very interested in which files i have to edit to get the result, that i want.
And I would like to read something about all the possibilities you have, when u edit your manila.
my 2 cents
I'll look forward to this...
UPS...
should have reserved 2 or 3 posts mate, skinning TF3D is extensive
looking forward for your guide
I don't think I'll be needing that many.
1-enabling 4 columns of applications
2-more entries in applications
3-making the mail envelop transparent to read more from the email
4-making skins as simple to usecabs.
5-using vga skins
6-background pics in all tabs
7-simple way to add bookmarks
8-changing default opera app and youtube
will add more later
Well, most of these request are more complicated than just skinning.. I am doing some mode9 editing, but the code is such a mess, I won't be able to get all those things done easily.
useful project
@THE GRIZZ
1 & 2 require some lua editing, impossible for now
5, 7 and 9 require some m9 editing on the fly and a good debugging... we need tools for it, again, not for now
I think we can listing all manila graphic file and a "who does what" list to find out rapidly what to change... This should be a very good start for now
Yeahp. Expect the first part of the guide to be released this weekend. I'm very busy atm, so haven't done a lot of work on my X1
i am impatiently waiting for this step by step tutuorial, as i want to know how to edit so much in tf3d. im checking almost everyday for this guide but sad that it looks like it might take a while. o well atleast some one is has thought of a guide. thanks
..i like this project..it will help many..if u want we can do this one together with caps n videos..lets add drop by drop to fill the ocean...

[Mod] Contacts.apk with narrow list items (LPQ)

As I'm a bit old fashioned guy I'd prefer more lines of contacts per screen instead of useless contact pictures I've modified contacts.apk a bit. As you can see from the screenshots we've now more lines per page and only small frame for pictures (for those who can't live without).
The mod works on stock LPQ, de-odexed not necessary.

Will try this out. Any chance of modding the Favorites too ? And putting the contacts tab on phone.apk ?
I'll look into 'Favorites' and also the groups list, but putting contacts onto phone would be behind my capabilities.
Cheers
Toscha
Seems to be a bit more complicated as expected. I even haven't yet found where the favorites view is generated at all ...

Fantastic. I Like it very much.
Possibile a version Without pictures?
Also can U give the source?
Thanks
Without picture should be possible, though haven't tried yet. But I wonder whether swiping left and right (for calling and SMS) will still work w/o picture.
For the sources: It's all done within dimens.xml and styles.xml. Or are you asking to upload them, wouldn't be a problem either?
Cheers
Toscha
ok, i have test and not run to OMEGA v5
maybe just for stock...
i have lost "Phone"
ty cwm and backup
Sorry mate, I only use stock ROMs. So I'm not too surprised it didn't work on Omega v5. Far too many differences ...
Cheers
Toscha
no problem bro, backup
but your mod it's very good

thanks in advance.
Na, I'm sorry, never found that out. But to be fair, as I don't use favorites too often I simply stopped searching ...

MOD
Hey guys, i'm working on the same thing.
I am trying to put that favorites tab on hell and put the phonebook on replace.
If someone would like to help, lets go:
First i decompressed my actual contacts.apk to edit.
Then i decompressed the contacts.apk of an other rom that have already the contacts on the favorites place just like we want.
So i will upload the decompressed Contacts.apk so u can help me analize the file and find out where in the code is that, so we can change the tabs.
Resume: The file attached is an Contacts.apk that already have the contacts list instead of favorites.
edit: Forget to tell i did already try to just put the contacts.apk of other rom on my actual rom, but the phone icon just gone, the i had to put the original contacts.apk from the rom i'm using to work. But i guess you all already know that we cant just put the apk inside our rom.

[Q] How to split series

Hi, I'm currently designing template, but I'm having trouble with the "Series layout". I need to split the series or add space between let's say Tuesday and Wednesday, but I can not figure out how to do that. To explain you what I'm trying to achieve is that I have vertical battery percentage bar and I want the horizontal series of Monday to Sunday going through this bar. And here comes my issue, as you can't edit series the way you can with other stuff, so I can't edit the code to add space between specific days. I know I could use spacing, but that would put spaces everywhere which would ruin the design. So is there a way how to do this, or is it just not possible at all?
Thank you

Mokum020 said:
I don't think it's possible with the build in series, but you could make your own with some rich text modules, markup/BB code and advanced parameters:

Anyway, yours design is sort of what I want, so I should be able to edit it to my preference. Thank you!
/EDIT:
Yup, exactly what I needed. Awesome! And big thank you for this!
