A paperweight? Wierd incident - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Was at my buddys and slept over so i didnt have a charger. phone died.
details I had ummm aokp rom i think? it was a cw10 based rom. So i have roms on my phone that i download and there all from cwm. She was stable. Phone died tried to charge it nothing. Reboots logo repeat. Why would it just brick from dying? anyways i know how to flash a phone i know that you should read what rom is compatible for the phone aka i look for the tmobile one or t999. I can get into recovery and try to flash other roms and it works. but does not boot it just keeps rebooting. I tried using odin to flash a stock rom. But i get Unsupport dev_type when the rom is a official one? Every time i try to do a factory wipe it just boots and gets stuck. So im just wondering wtf lmao? any ideas i know its bricked the way i read the other forums but wtf lol how? I didnt flash **** it died ran out of juice and boom bricked?

If you can get into recovery it is most likely fixable (I suspect a kernel issue). What is the model number of your phone? Because there is more than one TMo model.
What version of Odin? What driver version, and where did you find the official firmware? Link please.

unrooting fails in ODIN

Hello,
I am unrooted my note 2 before, at that time it didnt give me this problem. Now this time i followed exact procedure, but Odin gives me failed notification and now i can only go to download mode. My fone was only 31% charged when I tried to unroot, Now I also don't know if the phone's charging or not. I would really appreciate any help. Thank you
Go to kies software and click tools.. repair firmware.. will ask for S/N numver located in the battery compartment behind the battery.
Kies will do the rest. Ur successfully unrooted and on total stock rom from Samsung.
Allbur data will be lost.

i need help fast.
i checked my IMEI and it say my device is the europe region version...but that stock rom doesnt flash with odin..i have tried the the india and the new 4.3 leak as well same result.....im crying now.
I have tried emergency firmware recovery from kies, its not displaying my phone model (I think not detecting my phone). I tried upgrading the firmware, it got stucked in downloading the firmware from server( I waited for more than 2 hrs).
By lot of searching various threads, I tried different region stock firm...I tried different versions of odin....I tried different USB ports, but still failed.....
I almost lost hoped but when I changed to different usb cable (original samsung note 2)....EUREKA....IT PASSED......I think the problem was usb cable (I was using nokia usb cable).......
If anyone has similar problem...pls try changing usb ports...use samsung usb cable(note 2 only).....try charging ur battery.....try latest firmware...try different versions of odin...try kies emergency recovery firmware.........AS LONG AS UR PHONE GOES TO DOWNLOAD MODE DON"T LOOSE HOPE COZ UR PHONE CAN BE RECOVERED..........

yes i can.
i flashed cwm 6 root with odin. now im back to a very slow cyanogenmod.
can i load custom roms from here?
If you can into recovery mode (CWM) and if your phone is rooted you can flash any custom rom from there....
Check the threads of the roms which you want to install.....procedure is always there...

I have never had your issue before but I am hoping I'm leading you in the right direction I would Google how to reset back to stock there's a lot of vids on it on YouTube but here's what I think would fix your problem
Sounds like you need to download a factory image go into download mode plug it into Odin and use the factory image to reset it back to normal, word of advise, just root it and learn about ROMs 4.3 is over rated in my opinion 4.4.2 is the newest we have on the aosp side and it is awesome, I highly recommend beanstalk 4.4.2
Also I found this in another post not sure if it applies to you but I'm sure someone else can confirm or deny
"If you update to 4.3...you WILL have a locked bootloader...and currently no good way to root..
Additionally....your KNOX flag will trip and your warranty is toast...if you attempt to root...( as of today, and until the devs can fix Sammy's latest patch)...
Beyond that...you can never go back to 4.1.2 again...
Stay on a 4.1.2 bootloader without KNOX and then you can flash every rom we have along with a full return to stock if you want...
An update to 4.3 will stop any means of going back."

No I have done a ton of research and can't figure it out, I feel like i've tried everything. I keep trying to go to stock rom, used Keis, used Odin, Used Heindal, flashed stock recovery roms, flashed stock combo roms, have like 12 counts of custom binary downloads and KNOC WARRANTY VOID : 1 and in download mode in red at the top it says in Odin Mode and then Red in the bottom after it says (in Gray) KNox warranty void: 1 and
AP SWREV A2 it then says in red again unsupported version under those....
Roms? You need a stock image for it to work totally different

You did the battery pull part as well? I think the trick is to have your fingers on the buttons first then slide the battery back in to force the recovery but until I try it myself I don't know for sure.

Flashed stock rom thru odin, still stuck at the samsung note 2 screen. I can get into download mode with no issues whatsoever. I cannot get into recovery mode, whether stock or cwm. Nothing. Can I flash another 4.3 or 4.4 rom thru odin? I just need my phone working again..... thanks gentlemen

HOW-TO Downgrade from 4.3 OFFICIAL MK6 to LJ2 4.1.1
Do this it works. If it does get stuck on the second Samsung logo pull the battery,
Boot into Stock recovery, and do a factory reset.
It will boot the 4.1.1 stock ROM but it will have the MK6 bootloader. You can flash TWRP or CWM thru ODIN and flash other ROMs. 4.3 ROMs is all I have tried.
I've just spent hours doing this. It's almost impossible to brick this phone. If you do brick it you have done something really really fricking stupid.
I've done a lot of stupid ****, and I have always brought it back to life.

Yup! Fricking stupid------like upgrading from 4.3 to 4.4.1, then in recovery factory reset, and in ODIN trying to get back to 4.1.1 How stupid is that??? If YOU have done this, would you be able to reboot into recovery????? Try it.........
You probably did something wrong. Im the OP of the How to downgrade 4.3 MK6 to LJ2 and Ive done it many time over.
This is the problem i cant get into recovery mode only download, I flashed the firmware from sammobile and did all the steps but it literally wont let me into recovery to wipe the data, I'm stuck on the first samsung Galaxy Note II screen
Have you guys tried to flash cwm or twrp after flashing 4.1.1? Since all you can get into is dl mode try flashing a custom recovery them attempt the battery pull/recovery step.

I personally have done it five times in the last two days. Plus ODIN'd MA4.
Actually I've done it the correct way. I have no idea what you are referring to in your post.
From a non-bootable 4.3 OTA, because I installed a mod from the theme/apps section, I flashed the LJ2 in ODIN. It did not boot. I reread the OP and saw that if it didn't boot, do a factory reset.
I flashed it again in ODIN, probably did not need to, it hung.
I pulled battery, did the power/home/up and got to stock recovery. Factory reset it boots.
Testing different scenarios I got boot loops, reflashed LJ2 and did same procedure.
I found out later from Zen all I had to do was flash a recovery and it would fix the error saying I have an error in my firmware, I need to recover using Kies. There was no need for that.
I understand you all can't get to recovery try flashing a custom recovery from ODIN like suggested above.

I can honestly say that I will be done trying to help you with this. What YOU are not getting is we are trying to help YOU fix YOUR mistake.
I understand it is frustrating when you hit a snag that leaves your phone in soft brick form but as EVERY OP states you are doing these things AT YOUR OWN RISK. Getting angry and impatient with those that are trying to help will get you nowhere fast.
Good luck fixing your phone and I really hope you get this figured out.

As to not let one person ruin the OPs chances of fixing things here is a good way to get into recovery that does take a little know how. Its always good to know the basics of adb anyway when modding android devices.

If your device is not being recognized try a different USB port.
Or from the command prompt;
type "adb kill-server"
then type "adb devices", adb will restart on port 5307.

Unfixable Soft Brick??

So basically I was on stock 4.3 TW rom and tried flashing HyperDrive ROM. Everyhting went through but I did get any Data to work for the life of me.
Tried flashing back to a 4.4 GE rom, and got "com.phone.android" crash error right after boot up. Couldn't do anything with the phone at all.
Tried flashing another .zip I had, same thing with the phone.
Tried flashing stock rom throgh Odin, same thing.
Now after a couple other flash tried etc, my whole SDCARD is wiped, and can't use fastboot.
I can get into recovery but thats about it. Tried sideloading a rom with the same com.phone. issue.
About to drown this ****ing thing and use my warranty, at a complete loss now.

Since you have only posted the issues you are having with your phone but not your
phone's specific model I cannot help you more than the following.
What I can tell you is if you really want to fix the issues you are having you need to forget
about going into recovery mode and instead make sure you can go into "Download Mode".
Once you can get your phone into download mode you will need to find and download the official
stock Odin flash firmware specific to your phones model and flash your phone using Odin.
Good luck!
You've posted in Tmo S4, Nexus 4, i9505 threads at the minimum. Please make sure you're in the right forums. But in any case, you've overwritten many files by doing dirty flashes. Your best bet is to go into download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power), connect phone to computer, open up Odin, select PDA/AP, and then choose the stock file for your phone model and version.
.. slightly off-topic, but.. Isn't a "soft-brick", by definition, fixable? Otherwise it'd be a 'hard-brick'?

Soft-brick is exactly what it is, it is a software issue in which case you can usually Odin back to stock and get it working again. A hard-brick is when you can no longer flash any new software onto the phone and the only way to repair it is using a JTAG device which majority of the people don't have. It essentially becomes a paperweight. But all hope is not lost. There is a service that you can send your phone in and for about $25 or so, they will have it fixed and back to you within a week. The company has good reviews so it's worth it if you've bricked your $600 device.

[Q] AT&T Samsung Note 2 Possible Soft Brick

Hello all, I'm here today because my note 2 (SGH-I317) seems to be stuck on the samsung logo. I tried using Odin and multiple ROMs, it says "PASS" but it looks like nothing was done to the phone. I can only get into download mode and not recovery, I tried to flash a custom recovery but no dice. I put many hours into finding a solution until I came across "Sudden Death", the device might of have a faulty chipset but there's no knowing for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S, I hope I opened this forum in appropriate location.

[Q] My phone is now hard bricked. Can anyone help?

I have the ATT Galaxy S3 SGH-i747. Before I flashed this ROM I was running 4.4.4 from the Cyanogenmod stable release and it worked perfect. I had that with a 3.4 Kernel. Now flashing this rom and going through all the prompts in CWM the phone went black upon restart and has stayed that way ever since. Is there anything I can do?

that ROM would have worked perfect if you had the i9300/i9305. did you try the battery pull method to get back to recovery? did you do the button combo to try to get back to recovery? when you hook up to charger , do you get a red led and that only ? do you know your current bootloader/modem version ?
heres a link to de-brick thread.

"all i can really do , is stay out of my own way and let the will of heaven be done"
@mrrocketdog is correct in that you need to try the de-brick images. If that doesn't work, you'll have to have it repaired via jtag.
Flashing an i9300 (international s3) onto a North American (i747/i747m) is guaranteed to brick the phone.
