[Q] Another country firmware - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear friends,
My device is: Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100) Android 4.1.1
PDA:LJ3 / PHONE: LJ2 / CSC: LJ2 (KSA) and bought from KSA.
I've developed a theory to convert it like it has been bought from Turkey. So I went to SamMobile and downloaded PDA:LJ3 / PHONE: LJ2 / CSC: LJ2 (TUR) 4.1.1 firmware file. The only difference literally is (TUR) suffix. So I (Triangle Away then) flashed it through PDA section in Odin v3.
Phone just booted up and I was expecting something Turkish or changed. In the end, the phone was just booted up as what it was.
KSA version is still 4.1.1 and it's annoying when I see Galaxy S3 around with 4.1.2 and in other countries have been upgraded a month or two ago for Note II...
---
So according to this scenario, I went to SamMobile again and downloading now PDA: LL7 / PHONE: LL2 (TUR) 4.1.2 firmware.
(Since Turkey has been updated in December to 4.1.2 and even got another update on 4.1.2 on January.)
I will flash this to the phone, and will hope the phone will open up with same everything but 4.1.2 just like it happened with 4.1.1 same version.
Am I right doing? Is this thing risky? In the far end, I'm expecting to have 4.1.2 and nothing else changed in the phone.
Regards,

Haha, if you Flash a 4.1.2 ROM, of any country's, your device will have 4.1.2 ROM in it. There is NO risk involved. Just flash it and have 4.1.2, enjoy.

If you want to see something Turkish, then you need to change the language. You will get best results if you factory reset your device after flashing this other region firmware(Take the backup first)

Thanks for replies. I've flashed latest TUR version now, waiting device to start then I will apply full factory reset to see rest of the changes.
Hope everything will go normal.
Regards,
//Update:
Well, I've done updating it. It's now aforementioned 4.1.2 and factory reset applied. I've opened Samsung Apps and it showed me Arabic Terms and Conditions again. But in the About section of the phone, it shows 4.1.2 LL7 / LK7 / LL2.
Connected to Kies to see a clear situation. Kies is saying "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies"
and Current firmware version: PDA: LL7 / PHONE: LK7 / CSC: LL2 (KSA)
Device still knows it's in the KSA and this version should have been a KSA release, since KSA did not release LL7 / LK7, so, it's unsupported.
I don't know what to do in this step. Device is insisting that even the new flashed firmware is KSA firmware, and when checking from KSA updates, it sees there's no such an update. >.<

I'm searching the forum and the web since more than 3 hours and still didn't figure out how to tell the phone to read CSC from new firmware. Please read my previous post's update.
Kies and phone itself are thinking the installed 4.1.2 (PDA) is a KSA release. So they don't support this, because there isn't any 4.1.2 update released for KSA.
Any advise will welcome and will be a reference for others who will face the same case.

Just go to sammobile and download uk 4.1.2 unbranded then flash it like I did work like a charm

[Q] rooting. stock rom different from country of origin

so i just want to ask a question before i start rooting my note 2.
mine is the international version. when i upgraded to 4.1.2 i used the default system updater from the settings menu.
here is the screen shot of the "about" on my phone
img199.imageshack.us/img199/7566/screenshot2013051322143.png
and here is the image of my *#1234#
img713.imageshack.us/img713/8866/screenshot2013051322144.png
so upon research i discovered that my stock rom is from somewhere in the middle east and that the baseband version of my phone is from poland.
do i have that right?
now the problem is, is that i am from the philippines. and i dont know if my stock rom will give me any bugs since my OS came from another country?so will it affect my rooting? or is it safer to reflash my countries stock rom then root it? and is it advisable to download the latest stock rom for the philippines 4.1.2 april?
i cant post pics cuz im new. sorry guys and add the http in front. thanks!
Hey buddy it doesn't matter which rom you flash it's safe to flash any country stock rom no issues you can go ahead and root it.

[Q] When i use Kies to look at my firmware....

Hello all,
I was wondering if i could ask a question?
When i plug my Note 2 into my laptop and run Samsung Kies (Latest ver) on my rooted GN2 running stock w/Perseus Alpha 35
kernel.
It says :"Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies"
Current firmware version: PDA:MC2 / Phone:MC2 / CSC:LJC (SPR)
Can some one please point me in the right direction to update just my CSC version from LJC to the current Version?
I thought when i installed the MC2 update "All in one" way back when that it would have taken care of everything!
Thank you so much in advance,
Tom

[Q] What Firmware do I have to install

Hey guys,
I bought a rooted Galaxy S3. On the back of the phone I can read the following: SGH-I747 16GB
Afterwards I checked the information of the current firmware: Model: SGH-T999, Base Band Version: I747UCLH9 (Android Version 4.1.1)
Now I would like to update the firmware to Android 4.3 (ideally a german firmware).
But now I'm not sure, what firmware I have to use. I'm afraid, I'll crack the phone, if I install the wrong firmware.
Thanks a lot for your help :cyclops:
Please edit your post and delete the S/N number. Never disclose this or your IMEI.

If I were you, I would not update to a stock 4.3 ROM because the 4.3 ROM will include Knox. I also recommend backing up your imei and nv folder before flashing ROMs.
Is your phone unlocked? If not, you can try using the free unlock method to permanently unlock it.
Thanks for your good tip. Unfortunatelly it's the phone of my girlfriend.
That's why I would like not too much changes in design and functionality of the phone.
I'll surely backup the device before changing anything. The phone is already unlocked.
Is it possible, to install the rom I9300XXUGML2 on this phone?
No any I9300 roms could hard brick.
Thanks a lot. So I think, I would have to use the I747UCUEMJB for the phone.
If I install the stock rom, can I change the default language (incl. keyboard) to german (I'm afraid that it's not working because of Knox)?
And if it's not possible to change the default language, which firmware would you recommend, which looks exactly or nearly the same as the Original one?
The back of the phone indicates that it is an AT&T s3 (i747) but the firmware says it's a T-Mobile s3 (T-999).
Looks like there is a mismatch on the firmware.
That's the problem I have. I'm unsure which firmware I should take.
The guy I bought the phone from told me that he bought it in China. And I think he already bought it as a rooted phone.
We bought the phone and everything works fine 'til today. I know, never change a running system. But an update with all the new functions and bug fixes would be really great. And because it's my girlfriend's phone I don't like to change the firmware to one which looks differently than the actual one...
If it were me, I would just flash the stock AT&T.
midst trmicri
Ok, so I'll install the firmware I747UCUEMJB
If so, will the phone still be rooted? I have to change the language to german after installation. And like I know it shouldn't be possible, if the phone isn't rooted anymore...

You can't just flash a stock AT&T 4.3 ROM in Odin because there is no such file. You would have to flash a completely stock AT&T ROM and then update to 4.3. I'm not sure that AT&T ROMs have German as one of the languages.
Well, technically it would still be rooted (at least that happened to me), but also dunno if it has German language

Thanks a lot. So the easiest possibility would be not to flash the stock at&t rom and update the rom, which is already on the phone.
Your phone is an sgh-i747 which is an AT&T s3 but the operating system is a T-999. If this is right, there is definitely a mismatch between the phone and operating system.
If you want the 4.3 ROM on your phone, install a custom recovery and flash firmware that's made for the d2att.
I googled I747UCLH9 and I found this: http://androidromupdate.com/tag/i747uclh9/
Where do you see T-999 in your phone?

Boot your phone into recovery mode. Do you have a custom recovery installed?

Need GT-n5110 Canadian (XAC) 4.1.2 Stock Rom - or alternative

Ever since I upgraded my ROM to 4.2.2 (US based) I am receiving WiFi Authentication Errors periodically, now I would like to go back to the stock ROM but can't find it anywhere. My original CSC was XAC, and checking the well known ROM sites - no one has a ROM for Canada.
Does anyone know which ROM I can safely revert to or where I can get N511XXBMC9 for XAC?
I look through Sammobile and found the Singapore version (XSP) with the same PDA, CSC and MODEM values, however I'm not sure it this will work.
Product Code: XSP
PDA: N5110XXBMC9
CSC: N5110OLBBMC9
MODEM: N5110XXBMC9
Thanks

[Q] Looking to try out kitkat :D

Hey all im looking at manually updating to kitkat and my problem is im not sure how tricky that will be as my last run in with odin was a bad one..
well not odin, but 3 months after rooting my first note 2 it died from sds. Samsung replaced it which took forever - my original one was a french model. The replacement i now have is the hong kong one.
GT-N7100
And. V: 4.3
CSC: N7100ZSENE1
PDA: N7100ZSUENE1
I know its most recent version is 4.3, but seeing friends with n7105's and kit kat is just driving me nuts!
Anyywhoo upgrading to 4.4.2--
Will it be a straightforward procedure?
And am i likely to have problems with KitKat and my particular model?
Pros cons?
Sorry for being noobish >.<

Since you are already on 4.3 you cannot go back to 4.1.2 cause of being on the Knoxed bootloader which makes downgrading impossible (only 4.2.2 is possible).Well you got few choices when it comes to trying out 4.4 either you can flash stock ROM which is rolling out slowly to many countries or you can try the custom KK. So root your 4.3 if you don't want to upgrade to stock 4.4 and then flash any one of the custom 4.4 which comes in variety of flavours such as stock note 2 KK , note 2 and note 3 featured ROM or S5/note3/note2 featured ROM.You would have to try few custom ROM to see which best suits you.No one will be able to tell you which ROM is best since each custom ROM offers different tweaks.
To download stock ROM head over in General Note II section and there's a download link for FNE1 KK French version uploaded to mega.co.nz by an user called "robalm" .Download the zip file , extract it , you'll get the .tar.md5 , put the phone in download mode and place that extracted file into AP/PDA Mode of odin and sit back and let it do it's thing.
