hello there i have seen apps n threads relating to facebook status update by mobile
but what i really want to do with my "real device" (Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100) is
X updated facebook status via samsung galaxy note II
i have seen on htc phones that when they upload px of status from their HTC sense mobile
it says X added/updated status/photo vio htc sense.
so i m talking about real deal. i have galaxy note 2 n i want to show my actual device name in facebook status.
not fake or something like i dnt have n i post things from dat device.
so samsung galaxy note 2 doesnt have HTC sense 2/4.0 etc offcourse than what it has which shows device name with updates specially on facebook?
i have installed fb application n on left panel it has an app of samsung galaxy note 2 but when i click that tab..... it has "Nothing" it is directed towards google play store with nothing in it... inshort the app is completely useles...
any ideas?
hey i posted a question before but no response in that thread as well... this will be the same?
anybody available please ?
when i post any thing from my Samsung galaxy note 2 using offical facebook application it doesnot say that I posted it via samsung galaxy note 2 ...
there are a few apps for this - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.smartwebs.status_via_2&feature=more_from_developer
but all of them show some icon by which its identified that you are using that app
HTC devices say via HTC sense only when you post using their friendstream app, otherwise its not possible using official fb app

Why is the group cast feature missing from the AllShare play app on the ATT version galaxy note 2?
is there anyway to install an updated version of AllShare Play that includes this feature?
Is this feature something that no 1 else uses?
I just thought it strange that my galaxy note 10.1 running an older ICS ROM has this feature built into the AllShare play and yet my new Galaxy Note 2 running JB does not include this feature. Would love to be able to use this from my phone.
I find it hard to believe no 1 else is bothered by the fact that our galaxy note II does not include the group cast function in the AllShare app. Both the S 3 and galaxy note 10.1 has this feature built into the app.
I even fash the new nternational ROM onto my note II just to see if it would have the Group Cast function but it is still not there.
Is there any chance that this app could be replaced by the S 3 or note 10.1 one?

I noticed Group Cast on my wifes SIII but the only thing I see on the Note II is all share cast. I guess these two features are different, right.

Yes, Group Cast is a feature in AllShare Play that will allow your phone screen to display on another phone or device able to join a Group Cast..everyone can share what is on the screen. I have that feature on my Note 10.1 and, as you said, its on the S III but for some reason its not part of the function on the Note 2 app - I have no idea why they would have left it off.
I realize not many people use it, but in my family we all have Note 2 phones (and a few 10.1 tablets) and would love to use this feature with them all.
I posted on the S III forums asking if i were to side load the AllShare APK from the S III onto my Note 2 via TWRP would it work ? My hope is I can do that and overwrite the old AllShare APK on my Note 2 with the S III one that has that function built in. I do not think there is any hardware limitation on the Note 2 that would prevent it from working...
Anyone else know?

When i install the allshare play apk ripped from my GS3, i have a group cast option. However, for some reason it goes away as if the system is fixing itself. Need to check with other gn2 owners on other carriers to see if they have it.

Also, the share option isn't in the menu after you open the file, you have to open it from the menu before you open the file. I am using Astro file manager.
Press and hold file you want to share. Then press menu
Press share
Select Group Cast
Enter pin code
So I can get it working, but not sure what causes the app to return to its stock state.

GroupCast Missing THEORY
My wife and I own Verizon S3s and we have been using Groupcast since we got the phones. We noticed last night when launching Allshare it wanted to be updated and after that no more GroupCast. I have a theory about what happened as far as it pertains to our Verizon S3s. You can extrapolate from this to figure out what happened to your AT&T Note devices.
1.) Samsung released Jelly Bean 4.1.1 which used the old Allshare which had Groupcast inside it.
2.) Samsung released Jellybean 4.1.2 with Premium Suite. They decided to remove Groupcast from Allshare because it was confusing too many people to have an app within an app. So they made Groupcast its own app. (If you read any of the stories online about the Premium Suite you will notice one of the new features is a GroupCast app.) See the story below as an example of a mention of Groupcast app coming in 4.1.2:
Well, I had a link to the page here but since I haven't posted 10 times this site is making me remove it. Lets just say it was at the Sammobile website under a story about the korean galaxy sIII getting 4.1.2
3.) They released the Updated Allshare app (which doesn't have GroupCast in it) to the Google Play Store.
4.) You have either Ice Cream 4.0.0 or Jellybean 4.1.1 on your Verizon S3 phone since 4.1.2 is not yet available and won't be for probably 6 months.
5.) You launch the old Allshare app on your phone. The Allshare app checks for updates upon launch and sees the 4.1.2 version of Allshare is available in the Google Play store even though it is not compatible with your phone. You are asked if you want to update and of course you say yes because you don't realize you are accidentally deleting GroupCast. You are brought to the Google Play store to the Allshare app page and told Groupcast features will be removed from the app and Groupcast will be added as its own app. You go through with the update.
6.) Allshare is updated to remove Groupcast features. Share to Groupcast is removed from Gallery menu, etc.
7.) Groupcast app is NOT added to your phone because you don't have Android 4.1.2 with Premium Suite. After you update Allshare you will notice that something downloads in the notification tray and you get a second message that Allshare is again updated. I wonder if that second download is the GroupCast app that tries to install but doesn't show up in the app tray.
So you just lost Groupcast because you let Samsung update your phone! :crying:
Fortunately you can uninstall the update from the manage apps section and all the groupcast stuff gets put back to the way it was and it works again.
I talked with a Samsung rep about this last night for 30 minutes and of course they had no idea what I was talking about and didn't even seem to comprehend my story. It was recommended that I clear the data and cache from Allshare, reboot the phone. I tried that but it didn't add Groupcast features anywhere I can detect. They then recommended that I do a hard reset on my phone. Well, today I got the Jelly Bean update and to me that should be akin to a hard reset. I re-ran the update to Allshare with the same results; still no Groupcast. :crying:
Unfortunately everytime you launch Allshare you will be prompted to update the app and you'll need to say 'No' if you want to keep Groupcast. :crying:
Looks like Samsung messed up somehow; at least that's my theory. I hope this helps people to get a better understanding of what happened and perhaps Samsung will realize that they should not have allowed people to update Allshare until 4.1.2 is available and we are allowed to download the Groupcast stand alone app. Maybe they will realize their mistake and send us a message with a link so we can download it before the 4.1.2 update is available.
Anyway, if anyone has a better idea or better facts than me let me know.

Facebook's soon-to-be-released Home thingy seems to have gotten a lot of buzz in the mainstream media. While I find Facebook Home "interesting" to say the least and would definitely be interested in test driving it, I'm more than happy with the current app.
That being said I noticed that only 7 devices will be supported by Facebook Home. According to Android Central
Right now the official list of phones that'll support Facebook Home at launch is as follows: HTC One, HTC One X, HTC One X+, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II, and of course the HTC First.
I'm feeling a tad left out and wondering why the E4GT didn't seem to make the cut...
Is anyone interested in Facebook Home or are you cautious like me and feel like this might give up too much of one's privacy to Mark Zuckerberg?

Nothing more than a marketing gimic for the latest devices. Not hard to figure out.

theres a reason Facebook home is only on the latest phones: performance.
Facebook would always be running, and it seems pretty resource intensive, so you need the resources to run that AND whatever you want to do.
older phones simply aren't capable of doing both, or will do both with horrible lag.
Personally, i feel that people are becoming way to comfortable in giving up their privacy and it will come back and bite people in the a** at some point, but to each their own i suppose
I heard that its great for displaying ads and risking your privacy:thumbup:

I ran the leaked apks for q little while today. It's not bad and looks nice. But Facebook killed it once they "found out" it was "leaked".
Using the launcher isn't going to give them anymore info on you than using the regular app.
One thing in common that all those phones have I do believe is that their screens are 720p and up. That's probably why no Galaxy S2 phone made the cut.

Getting it to work
Since Facebook Home launched today, if any one is curious and wants to give it a try, you can grab the APK and mod the build.prop to emulate an SGS3 and it works. Just did it on mine, and everything is working fine for me.
FWIW
Here's the APK - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40223609&postcount=267
Here's the build.prop parameters I changed:
ro.product.model=SCH-I535
ro.product.name=d2vzw
ro.product.device=d2vzw
I installed build.prop editor (free version) and when I change the values mentioned above, it doesn't seem to take the change.
The app has SU permissions.
Verified with ES Note editor after rebooting that the values in fact did change.
Still getting the error of device incompatibility.
Edit: Got it working. Had to change "ro.build.product=SCH-I535"
Edit 2: So now that I got FBH to work, I no longer get notifications for my FB Messenger. There's no little "1" icon next to the Chat Head. Bummer...
Facebook home with the device check patched out http://www.modaco.com/topic/361924-facebook-home-download/

Ok my question is this.
Deep inside my apps manager there is a phone ICON and no phone icon on the tablet anywhere else and no where to access this green icon.
How do I get the Icon from the manager and onto the phone somewhere ?
Its not in any of the trays or apps page etc. Its no where to be found but it exists deep in the apps manager. I dont want to use Voice and all the other BUL$&%T voice over IP junk apps.
I want the green phone Icon that is hidden deep in the device accessed some how
Again
It doesnt let me hard press and move the icon from the manager and its NOT anywhere else on the device.
If you have a real answer that I havent covered above then help me out !!!!
You must be rooted first and if you want to delete it use no bloat free and if you want to move it use root explorer and system apps are under /system/app or you just go to app manager and turn off anything you want but beware what are you doing

I want to turn the Tab 3 into a phone... Without using the junk apps to do voice over IP
I want it as a direct mobile device

Sprint doesn't enable phone calls on the tablets. The closest to tablet Sprint provides with phone functions is the Galaxy Mega.
Until recently you could use Google Voice and a number of other products for data-based voice services, but Google is disabling that in May 2014.
This tab has voice capabilities for sure...In CDMA ws it reads MIN/MDN...just need to figure out what APKs need to be placed in /system folder ..

what happens if you install a dialer app from the market?

The carriers can also enable and disable voice capabilities by line. This issue has been raised with data-network enabled tablets in the past. If the line isn't voice-enabled, no APK is going to change that.
But as always, YMMV.
Round and round nobody really has an answer just where we started before wasting time on this blog....
Has anyone ever found a solution to get this working? I have an sim-t217t that is unlocked, using a voice enabled sim on t-mobile and everything works fine except the phone app isn’t showing on the home screen and can’t get it to show and have tried several dialer apps that don’t work either.
I understand Samsung disabled the phone function on the US based tablets, but I’m sure by now someone has figured out a way around it?
