Hello,
I have galaxy wonder GT-I8150.
I flashed custom rom jelly bean 4.1.2 (CM10 alpha 3).
I have low capacitiy of 2GB and I want to install apps on external SD.
I read in other articles about default location of installing apps and I found a solution via android SDK with the command:
adb shell setLocation......
Can I make this even if I have a custom rom?
Well I have problems on CM after that?
Thanks,
You can use external apps to control this, there are various apps that allows you to switch between SD cards.
Click thanks if suggestion is found useful
Set default install location to external sd? maybe try Rom Toolbox or Link2SD... That might do it!

Have you tried 'Settings-CyanogenMod Settings-Application Settings-Install Location' and select 'External' from the options available. Haven't tried this but it is meant to install apps to the sd card by default i believe.
I have another rom no cyanogen . In my PDA cyanogen work bad, . Have restarts and another problems
I use HTC Desire and recently rooted and flashed CM7 on it. But I have found out that most of the widgets available in the market is being read by the phone. Is this because something is wrong with my device?
Check where the widgets are saved. Moving an app to the sdcard breaks the widgets.
They are saved and they are in the application list. But when I try and add them the don't appear on the widget list.
Make sure they are on the internal memory - CM 7.2 tested and working
are you running a script that tells the phone to automatically instal apps to sd card?

These kinds of scripts usually called A2SD/DATA2SD/DATA2EXT don't "prevent" one from using widgets, because by using this scripts Android / the installed apps still "think" they are installed in internal memory so one can use widgets without any problem.
I also consider the OP moved some apps to SD card by using the option in application-settings. This option makes it impossible to use widgets, as already mentioned.
The phone was on external storage. Changed that and now everything works fine. Thanks

Yes I realise that. However, I recall using something when I used the stock rom that would automatically move downloaded apps to the sd card and I thought I recalled seeing a similar setting in CM7 that did the same thing.
That is what I thought the OP may have done.
I have this rom installed from dk_zero-cool and release 3.0U0
On the original CyanogenMod Rom i could move ALL apps I install to the SD card. Now certain apps can't.
Because I cannot yet post in the dev section, I have to post it here.
Any solution for it? And don't come with answers like: take original rom or take cyanogenmod rom. Don't want to go back to 2.x
Apps I'm talking about are:
Advanced Task Killer Pro 1.9.7B92
Draw Some Inspire 2.0.1
Swype Installer 2.0
TuneIn Radio Pro 5.4
WhatsApp 2.7.5813
Some other apps like Sygic 11.2.6, Firefox 10.0.3 and so on can move to SD.
Tried to re-install it, and even tried to re-flash the rom.
Used a standard installation from their installer..
I recommend that you get a partition of 500mb. That solved all my problems regarding low internal memory.
If you dont want to do that you could try the "system"--> "performance"--> "Mount2SD Management". Have you tried to change any of these options?
edit:
you have the version before Mount2SD management is in the menu. Either update to 3.1U0 or do the script in terminal window.
Are you using any scripted functions such as A2SD, or are you trying to use Androids built-in feature "Move to SD Card"?
My advice:
1) Download the latest CM9
2) Create a 500mb EXT4 partition (can go up to 1024mb)
3) During install select "R-mount"
4) Enjoy.
Hi,
I'm fairly new to all this "rooting" and "flashing" but I managed to HBOOT unlock and root my Wildfire S (GSM) and now I'm trying to find a stable ROM version.
Currently my phone has some pre-installed garbage from Vodafone like:
360 My Web
360 Shop
FaceBook
FaceBook for HTC Sense
Gmail
Google Maps
Music Shop
Peep
Qype
Since my phone is constantly full I decided to root my phone and install a custom or stock ROM. But my problem is I am not very familiar with all these different kinds of ROMs. I have done some research and I've come across the following ROMs:
Sense 2.1
CyanogenMod 7 (CM7.2 / CM7 NIGHTLY 2013)
CyanogenMod 9
CyanogenMod 10
CyanogenMod 10.1
I know there are plenty of threads with similar questions but they seem to be outdated to me and therefore I'd like to have some up-to-date info about this. I'm looking for a ROM with the least amount of bugs and possibly a little improved battery life. Currently thinking about Sense 2.1 or CyanogenMod 7.2 or CM7 Nightly 2013. I just want to install a clean ROM with Google Play and a few apps.
Could anyone help me? Thanks!
Hello. I flashed cm 10.1 to my gf's phone, but she seems not to be satisfited. I checked it than and it was pretty nice, some features might take a while but everything works fine after few seconds. Don't have much time for testing other roms, but as soon as possible ill let you know about progress. I hope my English is fine, apologizes otherwise
Sent with my One S C2 Sense 5 using Taptalk
It sounds like you want CM7.2.
I have been testing different roms and all of them have some bug. I'm now down to two:
1. KitKat_CM7.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525765
It is the only ROM I could achieve 2-3 days of battery life. Everything works, with every few bugs. It is very fast. Exactly what you are looking for.
2. Marvellous CM10 Reloaded http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481155
This is Android 4.1.2 so it has more features, the interface is more polished, more apps work. It is fast enough for everyday use.
With any of them, you'll need to flash a Int2ExtV2 script after installation to trick the phone to use SD card instead of internal memory. Flash ROM, flash script, reboot, flash gapps. If you flash the gapps in the same session, your home button may not work.

Thanks for your input dawnckr! I'm currently using mod version: CyanogenMod-7-20120717-UNOFFICIAL-marvel with kernel version: 2.6.35.13eoghan-cryptomilk-alquez-r1-g0bb9087-dirty and I like it except the battery life.
Thanks for the tip on using the SD card as main storage, I've read some articles about it and yes I'm having the same lack of storage . I think I will try out cm7.2 KitKat you were talking about and install everything in the right order.
Thanks again!
What apps would you recommend installing on my SD card? I have read that some apps might cause problems when installed in locations other than the internal memory.
The following apps I use regularly:
Google authenticator
Keypass
Youtube
Whatsapp
Gapps
Browser
Dropbox
Maybe some games when I have some storage left
Is it safe to say that all apps will work without any problems when installed on the SD card? I know the apps won't work when the phone is connected to the computer because the SD card will be used by the computer at that moment.

If you use CronMod-INT2EXTV+ , the phone will think it has very large internal memory. I had mine set to 2GB of internal storage. All apps will work. The down side is that you can't swap cards in and out - but if you use one fast and large card, you just leave it in the phone forever.
TO use Int2Ext, you need to format the card to two partitions 1) FAT32 2) Ext2 . You can do that from clockworkmode recovery or on a PC (microsd with adaptor plugged into the SD card slot). Download the script at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124 Flash the script from recovery (you'll need a fresh installation of your ROM).
I just got my v500 and rooted/flashed kitkat (Mahdi Rom) and I was wondering if anyone figured out a way to get apps to SD on the device. I tried the kitkat SD fixer first. When that didn't work, I tried link2sd, which despite trying multiple different file systems, I could not get to work completely (wanted to move app as well as app data, the only filesystem it would recognize was fat32 and would not allow me to move the data). Then I tried foldermount, which works for individual files/folders, but when I try to move android data/off it just tells me to use a sub-directory.
So I was just looking here to see if anyone has managed to do it and how. Preferably in the style Jelly Bean allowed where you could just select "Move to SD" in the app settings.
Thanks

What do you mean by move android data/off ? you mean move the folder android entirely ? I use kitkat and foldermount unlocked version and i move my apps one by one with folder corresponding in android folder.
