The Superiority of Apple and its iOS - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Of course I am kidding...But all this talk about Apple stock loosing 40% of its value got me looking into it and I end up on an old website I used to frequent when I was misguided. Sad days indeed.
The funny thing is that the iphone 5 and its iOS 6 have been out for quite sometime now, but people cannot have full root access to their phone, (terminology: JailBreak). It appears there is a big debate/buzz on twitter and all social medias about the upcoming untethered jailbreak.
Some conspiracy theories about some hackers who have the rooting method and keep it for themselves because apple is going to release a quick update # 6.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.3 to patch it.
Some article mentioned that rooting the iphone is just about dead as apple has hired all the savvy early jailbreakers to block subsequent rootings.
Reading for few minutes got my head spinning and I decided to leave the dark ages.
But isn't it apple's own fault that it is loosing market value. I mean I was blinded by the iphone because I had it since the beginning and never thought about moving out until I got fed up with their shenanigans. Yes, Samsung and Android are Kings now when it comes to beauty, freedom and performance, but this happened mostly after the SG2 and froyo/Gingerbread.
Also let us not forget the stifling creation through pointless litigation.
When all the techies leave apple, apple will end up with a very small niche of the market.

As much as I am in love with my note 2 (left my iPhone 5 for it) just want to point out a few problems with your rant
1. Apple actually gained US market share and while its not any where close in the world its making a lot of the profits in the mobile phone area
2. We are all techies here and love our phones and rooting and putting ROMs on them and all but we are a very small portion of the market, so even if we all left apple would still have plenty if people to buy its product
Apple is no longer my phone maker of choice, but even with this dip in the stock value they are far from dead as seen from last quarters reporting and to underestimate them would be to the detriment of all companies

The vast majority of iOS users have no interest in jailbreaking their device.
Apple shares are dropping because of other reasons like possibly supply chain rumors and failure to keep up the innovation that Jobs is remembered for. Long-term growth prospects are dour relative to the release times of the iPhone, iPad and iPhone 4.

I'm in the exact same boat. I had the iphone from the very start. Being able to jailbreak my phone was the only reason that kept me around. I finally gave up on Apple after they released the 4s, that's when their greed became too apparent IMO.

First gen iphone when it was new, was something that help mold the market today. I left apple at 3gs. Been messing with some of the first Android phones shortly there after. I tried the 4s knowing I would hate, but just had to give it a shot. So much and so much let down. I sold it shortly there after. First major major droid was the evo 4g. Been rooting and flashing ever since.
Apple has lost focus. Going to be tough for them to bounce back imo.

*Sigh*, I'm starting to regret buying WP7

As a rule I am not an early adopter anymore, in large part thanks to experiences in the gaming tech area. In that area, it's never, EVER a good idea to buy anything at launch because early adopters get screwed, 100% of the time. By the time the platform has matured to a level where there is a nice library of games and the hardware bugs have been worked out, there's usually a price drop or addition of features--or both. Whatever else is true, adopting later is more satisfying than adopting sooner, because you get more and better quality stuff for a lower price.
When I went to go buy a new iPhone, I fell head over heels for WP7 on the Samsung Focus. The UI is brilliant and I don't give a **** what anybody says to the contrary, Super AMOLED makes Retina display look like ****. It's not even a contest, and whenever I've shown my Focus to someone, side by side, with their iPhone 4--they've agreed unilaterally that the Focus has a better screen.
But the fact is, Microsoft launched WP7 too soon. It's missing basic, OBVIOUS features that should have been there from the outset. Custom ringtones, copy & paste, multitasking, sending SMS videos--all I can say about those features is "****ing DUH." Of COURSE those are obvious and should have been there from the outset. Any moron realizes that, and the fact that Microsoft dropped the ball on them is just ridiculous. That we're now almost FIVE MONTHS past launch and are still waiting for what amounts to a MINOR update is simply pathetic, and as a consumer I am starting to feel a little ripped off. Microsoft should not have launched WP7 in 2010. They should have waited until they at least got the obvious, ground level features that every dumb-phone for the last half a decade has had standard, out of the box, to say nothing of what Smartphones have had since at least iPhone 3GS hit.
I've been an ardent supporter of WP7 from the outset. I love the UI--it's head and shoulders above the rest. I'm patient with the small marketplace because it's growing fast and I enjoy the excitement of seeing what new goodie comes out next.
But I'm losing patience with how Microsoft has been handling the updates, and the absurd length of their release cycles. If this idiotically named NoDo update, which evidently should have been called "NoGo" instead, doesn't hit in March--then I'm done with the platform and Microsoft can suck it.
You have 2 years to regret your decision unless you bought it unsubsidized.
That or you can learn to deal with the decisions you made as an adult.

Here is how adults deal with products that fail to deliver what they promised: They sell them to some idiot on eBay and buy something else.
Android and iPhone are both strong contenders (though I'd really rather not give Apple any money, facts are facts, and at least they finally got the basic OBVIOUS features).
It is odd how the OP says so much good for the phone. Reasons upon reasons why the phone was purchased and how great it was.
Then... because of no recent updates it must be a trash phone.
Get over it or buy a new phone. Stop complaining.

I give MS a year. That's what Android took, that's what the iPhone took and that's what I'll give WP7.
By October this year, we'll see what direction they're really going in with this OS. We'll know if they're about to blow up or burn out KIN style.
This NoDo update is so ridiculous and it took months to be released. Dont expect so much in this year.

Waiting a year is all well and good, and that's what I should have done--waited a year. I'd have had better hardware (not that there's anything wrong with the Focus--it's great hardware, but by the end of the year we'll see dual, if not quad-core phones) running a superior version of WP7.
Buying in early was a foolish mistake on my part.

By the end of this year, I'll buy a new phone as I do every year. So I'll evaluate based on the info from MS, not silly rumors, whether to keep the phone.
Success isn't measured in months for other OSes so why this one?
I feel where you are coming from. Its a bit frustrating when they release a new phone system into a highly competitive, quick paced mobile race, and seem to (from a consumers point of view) barely be working on it. Or putting few resources into it.
The UI and general experience is absolutely amazing. And you see so much potential with the OS, and know if they were to go full speed ahead it would not only compete, but overtake a large portion of market share. But they need to act quicker. Android is enormous and moving quickly, and the iPhone/iPad already has a huge portion of the consumer market locked into Apples ecosystem. You can't take your time adding necessary features. A great looking interface, and some great games only go so far. The phone needs to function, and function well. There are many missing 'standard' features right now, and those need to be addressed.
They do need to do things quicker, and we'll see how things go over the next 6-9 months, but if they want this to succeed, they need to start showing it. And be a little more proactive and transparent. The early adopters / fans are important for any new system to grow by recommending it to friends/family ect, so making everybody angry with the lack of basic features, slow/non existent updates, and lack of official announcements ect will only hurt their chances.
However, I am still a optimist. I see the OS for what it is, and can be. I see apps that are higher quality than anything on any other platform already, and the real kicker for me was the Nokia announcement. I think Nokia's upper end releases of wp7 will be huge, as will their services like ovi maps & navigation ect. Nokia makes great quality hardware, and if this is going to be their # 1 focus, then they will have some really nice handsets, which will also force the other manufacturers to compete within the platform like on Android. I think developers and others who make necessary platform apps also saw this as a sign to take wp7 more seriously.
But it is frustrating. I anxiously await the first update, and just hope that there will be some incremental updates as well before mango.
I feel the same way, I love my Surround but I am already looking at purchasing a new device. I plan on keeping my surround so I can see what the updates look like as WP7 matures. But I want something with more features to play with, and WM is dead and I refuse to buy anything from apple EVER. So Android it is...
And I purposely bought my Surround unsubsidized because I wanted to keep my upgrade available if I didn't like the device or WP7.
If I work one weekend of OT I can afford an unsubsidized phone
I definitely see where your coming from but to me it seems like they pulled an apple. Iphone took forever to have simple features like you mentioned. Its all about having the consumer hooked enough so they buy the next "upgraded" device.
Damn shame really....thats why I've loved android since it came out if the feature wasn't part of the phone, you can bet there was an app that added the feature.

You could do that with products that are failures - but you won't get much of your money back unless it's something somebody else wants.
The best outcome is if you simply bought something that didn't fit you (apparently without doing enough research), so you can make quite a bit on it if you find someone it will fit.
Of course, the latter approach would require some research, which seems to be the problem in the first place.

You're exactly right--they DID pull an Apple. The problem with that strategy is that Apple did it 4 years ago--Microsoft doesn't have 4 years to play catch up. If WP7 doesn't make a major splash in year 1, you can stick a fork in it.

I don't see it that way. I'm an early adopter because I want some time to get to know the device, explore it's features and such before the masses get their hands on it.
I also enjoy Alpha and Beta testing products of interest to me because in the past when I've done this, I've seen improvements made to the product that started with bugs I've reported.
I guess it just depends on what you want out of the experience. I like to be part of the community that shapes new technology - not someone suckling at some kind of techno-teat all "Me! Me! Me! Boo-hoo where's my update? I'm taking my toys and going home."
If, in any part of your life, you're getting "the **** end of the stick, 100% of the time" then you're doing something wrong. Once you figure out what that is, things will go better.
Heck, most of the software I run is alpha or beta - if it's not I feel like it's old!
Beta OS are just that, despite what the uber microites believe, the King in this case MS, definitely has no clothes and very little in the way of useful apps, live with it. My HD7 is in the best place for it just now, its box.

Based on what exactly? Anyone who has watched the history of MS has seen them slowly constrict their competitors with relentless product improvement.
We saw it with mobile OS's when WinMo slowly eroded Palm to the point that Palm Inc. started putting WinMo on their own devices - who would have guessed that in 1999 when Pocket PC was just a year old?
MS has stormed into the gaming console world in a short amount of time.
Phones/mobile devices are a cool space because so many companies have changed the space in short spans of time. Palm, Handspring, MS, Apple, RIM, Google - they've all had earth-shaking moments that changed the entire industry in the past 20 years.
For those willing to try it, WM7 at least has the design to appeal to the massive segment of the mobile market who's buying a device to support what they want to do instead of what the device can be made to do.

The Google and Apple battle gets uglier

Before I give my opinion, I must admit that my opinions may not hold true legally. I know little more than DMV laws. Nor am I a tech expert, insider or historian. I will be wrong on some facts, but I believe that my overall analysis will stand true.
Apple isn't really hitting Google as hard as some may think.
Google and apple are 2 forces that have an inverse success relationship. This we all know. They compete over the same market. This was from day 1, heck, even before then (depending on how you judge when day 1 was).
This is a fact that hasn't gone unseen to them both. They choose 2 tactics to deal with that issue. Apple chose to gain fame and sales through marketing, and got patents on all that's under the sun. A tactic that may look ugly, but money doesn't care.
Google, on the other hand, doesn't look perfect either. They gave ALL the freedom to developers, and opened the platform up. This protects them from apple, to a degree, because they aren't accountable for the actions of others. This gave their platform an advantage over the legal system and the rights of others.
I dislike apple, and like google, but that's not worth a thing. Google's tactics are healthier towards the market. Apple kills development... Outside apple itself.
The thing is, apple can continue to harm the android platform, and never kill it, ever. This is because android is open, and devs and manufacturers will always adjust.
Google, on the other hand, only needs one hit on ios, One injunction, and apple is dead in the water. Apple has, in many senses, only one device (the iphone and ipad are not that different). If they can stop the iphone OR the ipad, they don't need to settle, they can keep devices off the market for weeks, months or even permanently (if it's a hardware issue).
Keep in mind that most apple devices are produced BEFORE THE FIRST PIECE IS SOLD. So once google stops a device, apple's sales stop for a year (or so). apple can throw all what it made in the sea, or ship them overseas.
Also keep in mind, that most development and it's financial backing (as in app sales), is within US borders. This means IOS will effectively die.
BUT
What's hard to believe, is that both parties needed the existence of each other. In this case, each of them needed a competitor (though they each wanted the bigger piece of the pie). Economics says that competition creates demand, and in some cases vice versa. Ex: look at Pepsi and coke. They gained by competing, through keeping the other soda manufacturers out. The war between these two tech giants helped them sell devices.
Part of the reason that the current situation got so ugly, is that the market has a new competitor, a crappy one too (apple and Google's wet dream). Microsoft has taken apple's closed stance. This allows for the existence of google, not apple, as it is a more direct competition with the latter. Microsoft also gains if it remains in the market with Android, even as a weaker party, because it gets so much money off most android manufacturers (through licensing settlements) .
This whole situation is a move to drive apple out of the market. Apple's is clawing everyone cause it knows that it's being choked. Apple will not hold back any card that will keep it alive, even suing a search engine for searching for stuff.
THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.
Am I right?

If Google gets that patent for the notification center then apple will be surely in the cesspool.
It's all been dramatized to elicit blog clicks. Nothing will be the end or death or ruin of either of them, they'll just posture enough and setup a convincing enough legal threat by building precedent with these little cases until they're forced into some sort of cross licensing deal. It's business, not politics, or religion. Don't believe the hype.
Well patent for notification center will be an exact stop point for Apple because they have only few devices that uses same OS. It's not the same as Android where one condition applies to a minority of devices.
Apple is destined to die anyway. Their biggest innovation in the last few years was providing more density to their devices as I've said in another thread.

Google just being quite. thats all. They wanted all the crApple and its user just use their Google product only. If only they dont have that, Apple would be long gone. Most technology used in Apple, are from Google(i think so...). and if Samsung, HTC and others join forces and stating each of their patent used by Apple, its done. the thing is, other companies actually wanted a healthy competition, which is totally different than how Apple see it, cuz they are out of ideas and forgot how to innovate!
I have yet to understand why Google hasn't sued apple back. For example, one of apples newest features is from android. The feature in which when you receive a call you can reply back with a text stating "i am driving" for instance. Meanwhile, the apple notification Center was biggest steal ever. Finally, they sued amazon for calling their store the App store. App store is just to generic they honestly can't have a patent on that....
It is as if i sued a grocery store because i have a patent on the word grocery store so they can't call themselves grocery store.

the idea of joining forces may seem childish to some, but a quick look at the Rockstar Consortium should change their minds. The problem with that idea is that apple is not their #1 competitor, other android manufacturers are. Google is the only party that can lead a case against apple (on software at least), and Google has been holding back since the start.
My guess is that, that's about to change

Yes adding media outside of iTunes sucks. And god forbid you have to use a different computer than the one the iPhone was originally synced on.
i agree with many points. but in my opinion google isn´t so much interested in producing and selling mobile phones. it´s more to keep people related to google itself. the search, email, chat, google+ etc... and i think there´s much more. the accounts and usage of them are important for google itself. the hardware developers samsung htc etc... they sell phones to make money with hardware, google with android and google products. i think android would be enough for supply and demand, because that´s the competition of the hardware-manufacturers (samsung, htc, etc...). i think the mainreasons is the market to keep android alive. as u see with nexus7, google isn´t interested in selling hardware, just to get their software sold. 200$ isn´t much for the hardware. google wants to sell the hardware a) to get as many people to google b) to ace apple out of the market. google makes money with selling software over their market. and with the new market, tv, movies and more. on the other hand, if more people get android, less will stay with apple.
may be, google will become monopolist on the market. dunno, dislike apple and me as customer, i profit from google products. as in op, the policy is more friendly of google than apple.

Android R.I.P. - The Grips of Jobs' Dead Hands

Android, and every other touchscreen OS, (besides iOS) you might as well say goodbye to... I HOPE NOT!
Apple now has the power to destroy Android, Windows Phone, and any other iOS Touchscreen Competitor... Steve Jobs wins this round (for now anyways...)
How long before Apple has the PS2 and S3 Pulled?
Check this out:

This could spell the end for Android and this phone, and I will not be a happy camper if I can't upgrade to the S3 because of Apple... I will throw a major tantrum! But they can ban the Galaxy S, Epic Touch, and S3, along with any and all other android manufacturers... The government will fix this hopefully...
Google, act & appeal fast and fix this mess!!!!
Comments, Thoughts, Last Wishes?
I am not saying this will happen, but is quite possible if the government doesn't block Apple in their tracks from doing so... (I think once Google Appeals, these parents will be made standard for touchscreens...)
Google never loses. End of story, this will not happen.

yeah, this is a bunch of FUD.
and a very poor ruling by a judge. most of those patents won't hold.
Android is not going anywhere.
With apples iphone sales slowly declining and losing loyal customers, I don't see this being an issue...not just with the phones, I am reading alot of fanboys upset about the new mbp and how everythings soldered down making it near impossible to upgrade or repair....
Apple will fight tooth and nail saying that other companies stealing patents are the reason they are losing business, but they are really doing it to themselves being greedy.
Lol I'll go to a flip phone before I'm FORCED to go to Apple

It's just the basic forms of technological evolution. We've seen what phone such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 brought, they bring so much more than the iPhone 4S or maybe even the rumored "iPhone 5". Like honestly Apple is slowly becoming a monopoly, if anyone knows history Standard Oil was seperated into different oil industries because of actions that were harmful to the consumer/ government/ and other industries. Apple, being a large company, would try to take out any sort of competition that would "try" to honestly throttle their sales of their product. Customers all don't want to be tied down to a single phone. Just like people have different tastes in food, clothing, and other marketed products, they will also continue to have different taste in phones as well. It saddens me because my first phone was an iPhone (1st Gen) (I was 17 at the time) and I was proud to have it. But after seeing other phones that bring better features and finally ended up getting better and more phones that have better use to me. I get disgusted by the fact that Apple is using tactics to obliterate competition. Tactics that will not only hurt the industry such as Samsung, but also the consumer because I am 100% sure that this Android community will want to have iPhones only. So overall Apple....to me is becoming a monopoly, it's just slowly becoming one and won't stop bringing others to court until the iPhone is in everyone's grasp.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
What ever happened with that patent that Palm had for the phone app? It was rumored that if that was ever brought to court all iphones would just become ipods.
The second it gets in my grasp, I'll be throwing into moving traffic...
But Apple is just evil in what they are doing to Android... I really don't like it, and for once I feel bad for Windows Phone...
Remember, there are touchscreen BlackBerrys... If Apple sues RIM, it's over for them...
If I might add, if an iPhone gets in my grasp, it better be a quadcore phone with a 4.8" screen, Gorilla Glass, and Android Key Lime Pie or Kandy Kane running flawlessly with 4G LTE, as if that will ever happen...
I bet money that these patents will be invalidated soon. Why? Because theres no way that the government can allow apple to monopolize the smartphone business. Ill happily stick with my s2/s3 the rest of my life if they dont get invalidated
Id love to see samsung buy all the palm patents from hp that shut apple up real fast

apple is a lost cause.. epic in the era of steve jobs and now trying to stop the giant that is google to survive.. even if apple wins, there will be millions of android users across the world that would defend google. open source is the future, google will never die.. if anything google will be forced to come out with something even better than a "touchscreen" smartphone.. either way apple is against the ropes and probably losing fast as far as the long run looks.. apple is in the shadow of blackberry, destined to fail

wow this is a load of bollocks!! I agree lets all go back to flip phones!
Doesn't Google have it's own arsenal of patents it owns from Motorola mobility... as in first cell phone. If Apple doesn't play with Google, they could say "fine... you don't want us to have a touch screen... you don't get to have a cell phone."

What does apple need to do beat Andriod?

Before anyone jumps the gun and calls me a fan boy of apple im not! I love my Galaxy.
I Was sitting at work bored and i started thinking about how IPhone is just so hated on as is IOS. So my question to you guys.
What do you think apple needs to do to capture more of the Smartphone Market. In my honest opinion I think iphone is fine hardware wise but i strongly belive that Apples needs to Rebuid IOS from the ground up instead of adding to it every year.

Make themselves open source and being less anal about certain phone features.. and possibly lowering their retarded prices.

There's a lot apple would have to do to beat out android. Being open source and price yes just as the two above me have posted. They also need to get adobe flash player added to their devices. This is one of their largest set backs. But the main thing they need to do is stop thinking they are better than android as of now. Just because you own certain patents does not give the right to sue your screen manufacturer. Apple suing Samsung was a huge problem for me and made me sell my iPad and iPod because their using their name as leverage. Just a few opinions that I have and not in any way garbage talking about anyone or thing.

obviously the iPhone is not hated ok because millions of people bought it in the US. they are getting more hate though ever since the lawsuits. wish they didn't start that so there would be good competition and innovation. maybe we'd be further along with tech by now.

They Cant
They cant beat Android because they are left with nowhere to go as far as innovating/adding features to IOS. Android builds and builds on top of what they have often while apple just pushes out the same crap os.
Seriously put the first IOS release next to the newest and the only difference will be folders. LOL. Oh and wallpapers. Other than that they are identical. Android on the other hand is night and day from what it was to what it is now. The features are hundreds of times better and more plentiful. You couldnt pay me to go back to ios (yeah I use to be an iphone user up until the 3gs, but after seeing the 3gs I realized that they were just money gouging and not adding any damn thing) because of their lazy os.
I also love that they are stealing features from Android now and not even trying to cover it up. The iphone 5 dimentions look stupid as hell. I cant wait to see the flop that is the iphone 5 tomorrow. So damn terrible. Android FTW!

I work in graphic art and prepress systems since 1990 and all my life in work we used mainly apple computers and my conclusion is that they cannot do nothing in their attitude. This is their attitude and they think they are better than the others. Many times they was innovative but always this was their dumb because they was always kept the doors closed to others and the free spirit of a user. All their OS systems they was like that was made for stupid users, all the system things was closed and you always if you was using any apple device you needed to accept how the things are supposed to work without giving you the freedom of touching nothing. Isn't obvious that 85% of PC are with windows a big growing percent with linux and 5 or less percent with apple.
For me their last chance was the 1st iphone a phone that was pretty good in that time with fancy loocking etc but after 1 month went to girlfriend simply because again to have what I need I had to hack it or to pay a fortune for apps that a simple symbian or WM was doing out of the box.
As for the main question in this thread well I don't think they can do anything about it, this company has DNA problem and honestly I don't care now. Iphone 5 or iphone11 will be again the same plate in the same table with the same food on it, fancy announcement that will catch the chicks and some guys and that's it(and most of the Americans something that I don't understand honestly). In the era we live we must be happy that exist companies like samsung were they do the great hardware that they do and we have an almost open source software like android.
My 2 cents

My two favourite brands are Samsung and HTC. Thats not to say I wouldn't change to another Android maker. But iOS you've only one maker Apple and, no choice apart from 16GB or 32GB. That would be like only having carrier !
I like choice and Android gives me that.

Exactly. The sad thing is so many of their sheeple will just buy it and act like its something new. Same stupid ass IOS in a slightly bigger case. So damn lame. I hate apple.
They need to give more freedom to the developers to do what they want with their app. Apple is lucky that there are so many developers making jailbreak tweaks to make their iPhone a lot better to use. Without jailbreak, iPhone is complete useless on some of the basic functions. The only advantage that iPhone has is the amount of apps they have in their appstore. Without the amount of apps they have in their appstore, I would not even consider getting an iPhone. Not that I would consider it now because S3 is such a great device.
In my opinion, they're already winning this war. It's us who need to catch up to them. I live in Orlando and the amount of iphone is staggering compared to galaxy s. A lot of people I know are anticipating tomorrow.... As long as this world exists, there will be something for the mainstream
for apple to win, they must copy Android's abilities for customization such as widgets and different keyboards. also, believe it or not, bigger screens. i remember back in the day Apple used to crap on Android saying 4"screen is way too big... oh what fools they look like now..
My life for Aiur
Apple will never catch up to Android. Ever. The reason being is exactly the reason Taysider mentioned. iOS is designed, maintained, and serviced by one company and one company alone, Apple. It is closed source and offers zero customization options. Apple imposes very strict rules on development and doesn't encourage innovation from outside it's company even if it was developed solely for their device.
Android offers a multitude of different devices to fit the needs of any user, from the beginner smartphone user to the life long developer. Android is open source and Google encourages development of customization and drives innovation actively from it's end users. Android is constantly evolving to better meet the needs and wants of it's users and Google actually listens to it's users rather than dictating what the user will want/need.
Apple will never let go of it's precious iOS. IFand that's a big if, they would let iOS go open source and allow other manufactures to use it while also allowing open development of custom ROMS and MODS they MAY gain some market share back. As it stands, you will see a small increase in market share after the release of a new generation iPhone, but it will decline again shortly after.
Just my opinion.
Android is a disease! it spreads out! and there is no cure!!!
Apple needs to bring back Steve Jobs.
It's a disease alright but a good one.
Noticed eBay and other sites that sell used mobile devices lately?
See the amount of iPhone's being dumped at these sites.
You will get the picture where 'apple is heading.

Also I've noticed especially here in Las Vegas Apple is huge with the older crowd. Take my mother for example she has an 8gig iPhone 3Gs. AT&T offered her any phone in the store for free even the Galaxy S3. She was trying to get an iPhone 4 not even a 4s for free but they wouldn't do an iPhone for free she refused she turned it down and decided to stick with your old iPhone even though the battery holds only a 2 hlur charge now.

It is an extremely cynical move by two massive megacorp companies (both with troubled ethical histories) betting LOTS of money on people being brainless stupid herdable sheep. Instead of calling me cynical, you should feel a bit affronted at Google....because both these corps are saying very blatantly that they think we consumers are brainless programmable robots who will jump when asked.
Google and Nestle can claim no money was traded hands all they want...but there was quid pro quo, you can bet your entire lifetime earnings and savings there was.
I don't like eating chocolates now a days but Kit Kat is very relatable and very marketable.

Honestly great marketing ploy. Hope it works out well for both products. I'm not a fan of KitKat. I don't like the crunchy center crap. But hey, why not.

Agree and disagree:
I disagree with you about the sheep analogy. We are not all sheep choosing flocks to follow. Sheep are herd animals and humans are pack animals (at least this used to be true). The iSheep represent the ever growing part of humanity that has made the transformation into herd animals. I, and many of us here, refuse to be transformed by media/advertizing/image consultants into a bleating wooly douchebag. The analogy for those like me would be that of the wolf; a pack animal who, whether alone or with his pack, will divide the herd and eventually bite and eat one of them.
I agree that it doesn't matter what branding Android 4.4 has...I've always referred to version anyway

Lol yea if apple went out of business I probably would smile. But I doubt it. Unless all android phone make you feel like your apart of a society than its not happening. The only manufacturer that makes you feel as though your part of a society like apple is Samsung. Which is why I like their phones. People see Iphone. And think upper class, sophistication, and belonging. Which gives them a sense of belonging to a group of elite. I mean who dont want to walk around feeling like their worth a million bucks with year old tech smh. We look at Samsung and see innovation, future, and a sense of belonging to a group of intellectual individuals even though on xda some people make me wonder with questions like whats rooting or a kernel, But they have a profile lol. Since Samsung set a stepping stone on what sales and devices should look like htc, lg and everyone else is really stepping it up. So apple may be in trouble in the future but as of right now. There to many zombies for them to sell to.... my bad for the essay

I personally don't want to see Apple go out of business. I like competition. I think it actually benefits us consumers.
Personally, I don't think Samsung is the bee's knees or anything, but they do make a few products I enjoy, such as the Galaxy Note series smartphone. My enjoy derives nothing from Apple's products. I like they're Android, are rootable with fair ease, have SD card slots, pullable batteries, and actually make the phablet one of the flagship phones, instead of an after though like many other companies.
I'm not an Apple fan. I don't know about the company now with CEO Cook, but under Jobs reign, they were able to make things people found useful and wanted. I don't think they really came up with many ideas that were original, but found the right delivery of it. Plus, since Apple tries to just make everything work, that's that many less people who's electronics I ultimately end up fixing; it gets irritating always fixing other people's crap because they don't have a clue.

Yea the competition is fun. I use to be an apple fan but I've always been more of a fan of customizations. When android came out I was torn because I mean you could customize a iphone 3g and 3gs at the time when jail broken. But android had launchers icons. Colors, mp3 ringtone makers. Rooting, and constantly adding more features. I actually waited for apples response. Now so many years later. Their finally responding with a more customizable ui its to late. Im done with them. Plus I saw people happy as **** that they could swipe their Iphone cross registers and pay for gas all with nfc enabled I laughed. Only because my S3 was doing that while the Iphone 4 was still on 3g like its 3g/s predecessor. Lol or my e4gt was rocking 4g wimax. It's kinda crazy though because in the tortoise and hare race.
