Sim unlock + S-Off +4g radio - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hey all. So I have a Dinc2 that I want to use with the ptel(AT&T prepaid carrier I bought a sim from + activated a plan on).
currently the phone is dev-unlocked, s-on, and running the ICS leak(r1) rom. it's asking for a "SIM network Unlock PIN".
goal 1: get this onto the ptel(AT&T network)
goal 2: Read something about a radio update that turns on the "hidden 4g radio" in these devices?
goal 3(?): Gain s-off (needed?)
Any takers to assist? Much appreciated.

No 4g bro

Didnt I just tell you in a different thread you need the unlock code from verizon?
You can check online but you need to pay for them if that's what you wanna do.
It's not that easy to just swap as this phone is cdma and is not like Tmobile and att phones that you can just pop the sim in and would work.

since when did my inc2 manifest 4g? lol ITS EVOLVING!!

What?? My Inc2 is evolving!

It would be nice if the radio was all that was needed to go 4g. Too bad it isn't so. Use the search bar. There are some really great guides to unlocking getting s-off and rooting. Even a dummy like me was able to do it. You may need to downgrade the firmware too.

HTC DROID INC 2 On tmobile!!!

Hey i was wondering how exactly do i unlock it so i can use a tmobile sim card thanks in advanced!
I'm very sure you need a XTC Clip to unlock Sim card (and get S-OFF permanently) if you don't want to spend $60~ to buy one, look around craigslist for someone in your area that 'roots' phones or unlocks them, and just ask if they have a XTC Clip, they usually charge around $23-30.
Im buying a droid incredible 2 tmrw how can i check if its a bad esn if it is a bad esn would that matter since im going on tmobile
I was also told it was as simple as putting in a tmo sim card restarting it and putting in an unlock code
Dinc2 is world phone so you will be able to use any GSM network in the world. No you don't need root or S-off to do this.
Thank yu much so i can just put in my tmo sim and buy an unlock code
Oh turns out I was wrong on my post, but if you want root you can get it now!
Yeah basically, and bad ESN doesn't matter on T-MO as it's not CDMA.
Ard thx im getting my incredible tmrw at about 5 cant wait to start toying with it
You won't be able to use 3g on T-Mobile only. Dues to the gsm bands on the inc2 not supporting U.S GSM bands only overseas

[Q] how to unlock the Samsung Galaxy S 2 Epic 4G touch from Sprint

Hi! this is my first time posting on this forum.
I want to unlock my SGS2 Epic 4G Touch from Sprint but I can't seem to be able to do it.
I was able to root it and have Superuser access, I downloaded Chainfire's app from the Android Market and ran it, but it says the system couldn't find the unlock code.... don't really know how to move forward from there...
Also, this is the Gingerbread EL29... and doesn't have an IMEI but rather a MEID which makes it harder for me to find an app to unlock it...
Any help please?????

My friend "unlocked" please expound further on what you are trying to do. We dont have to unlock our phones. Now are you trying to get your MSL code?
Edit: Also everything you need to know about this phone is either in the wiki or a sticky on the development page.
I have it locked for Sprint use only, but I wanna be able to use another carrier... I'm not sure abotu what I need... I already rooted the phone, I know I need a code to be able to unlock it... but I'm unable to get it. for some reason

"Unlocking" is only for GSM phones with a "SIM". Since you have almost certainly opened the backplate of the device, did you see a SIM slot?
No?
Oh, yeah, that's because the Epic Touch is a CDMA device.
You cannot "unlock" the GSM telephony, if there is not one to begin with.
You should be looking for APN settings for your carrier and a way to input them.
And, do some research, because it doesn't seem that you are at a required level of knowledge, of the system you are messing with, to even be attempting it.

CDMA carrier
type of radios in the phone. One cannot be used on another.
Maybe tell us who the provider is you're hoping to switch to and someone else can maybe look it up.
If your provider is GSM and you bought a CDMA phone, you're seriously out of luck.

There is no such thing as an unlock code for a CDMA device, unfortunately for you.
In the US, if you find a CDMA carrier that is willing to activate a CDMA phone that wasn't originally designed for their network, you would have to give them the phone's ESN number (found behind your battery). They would add it to their network, which would allow them to activate your phone on their network. They may also require your IMEI, which is the same thing as the MEID. You can get this from the same sticker, or dial *#06# on your keypad.
You will have to contact the carrier you intend to use the phone on and see if this is possible. I know somebody who did this when their work sent them to China for two years.

My Galaxy SPH-D710 was purchased in Michigan through Boost. I just moved to Maine where there is no boost, and U.S. Cellular unkindly rules. This project is on my level but I ran into an issue I hope to fix tonight after 5 days of code manipulation. Ok, so here's the story.
Obviously my phone will not connect to a carrier, and no service tower to make things harrier XD. So amongst the edits and flashing, I lost my MSL. Come to find out, here is why: U.S. Cellular accepted my device on their network. It was simple, just said it was an sch-r760, they put in my ESN/MEID Dex and viola, accepted. Ok, here's the kicker (not as nice of a kicker as is in my trunk if you catch my drift)... APNs are locked as you well know. The question is, where the crap did my MSL go? Boost was going to give it to me but since I've been out of service for months and I flashed with no tower near, ALLLLLL DATA ASSOCIATES WITH MY ACCT is just gone. Phone records, MSL, even device specs.
My question... when I get to a tower, I will have to activate back on Boost to get their system to issue me an MSL to then be able to add U.S. Cellular APN settings after receiving my unlock code... OR since its also ATT, and Boost and U.S. Cellular both use ATT towers to roam around here... Will I receive my U.S. Cel access? I have already Paid my U.S. Cell activation and monthly charges. I couldn't have paid if my phone wasnt accepted. Even US Cellular said this. I'm betting I get on Boost network, then have to diag MSL add APN since I cannot edit and stick without MSL. Oi... What I do know, is I will prevail, I never fail! When I do, I will write an impenetrable Tutorial and circulate it to U.S. Cellulars demise

i don't think its possible to unlock cdma, other than flashing to page plus, but the reason why gsm is so easy to unlock is because you insert a different network card into ur 3G sim card slot, and u type in your network code when it asks,,,,,cdma(phones that don't take sim cards) are flashed to that carrier firmware wised which means you would go through alot just to reflash to another carrier.try flash to pageplus, that will cost money, but dirt cheap as low as $7

At&t Sim Unlock Debacle

I need some help. At&t won't unlock the Sim claiming "exclusivity" although this device is released by every provider known to man. Anyways, the voodoo sim unlock app for the international S3 is not compatible yet for the At&t 747. What should I do? I need to use straight talk and would like to be able to use t mobiles network. Should I return it or wing it? Anyone been in this position before? Does anyone have any info on whether voodoo app developer can or is working on building an unlock app for US versions?

How long did it take for you to get your code? I just processed an order with them.
done, unlocked. now i need some t mobile hspa radio's to flash.
Hey when I enter the *# code to see if my ATT GS3 is locked I don't get that screen that pops up on the vid showing its locked. How can I tell the phone is locked to ATT?
Thanks
U check by putting a non att sim in. It will ask for unlock code. You dial *#06# to bring up your phones IMEI number not to check if its locked.

Well there was a video on the website that had a *# code to show if your phone was locked, so I tried that and got nothing so maybe I need a dif SIM other than the ATT one
yea i think it only works on international one. doesnt work on mine either
Ummm... Straight Talk uses AT&T's network. You don't need to unlock the phone to use it with them.
Edit: you're using it with ST's T-Mo sim? Why?
root it, then go here. id stay away from direct patching, but it shouldnt harm by plugging it in, reading the nvram.bin and generating a code

I was wondering the same thing. I thought I read you could use either an Att phone or a TMO phone on straight talk with their sims. Also in the TMO GS2 threads there are people saying they didn't even need an unlock code to use the GS2 on straight talk. I've never used Att or TMO but I'm taking a close look at straight talk. In general is it true Att has better coverage than TMO? I know they are both better than Sprint.

Would be great, if the required nv_data.bin file was actually in efs like in the international version, i checked for the file in /efs and it doesnt exit.

Same here.
There's differences in coverage. T mobile more hspa speed 6-7 mb/s, at&t 2-4 mb/s. At&t has more coverage overall coverage tho.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
But the AT&T version can't run on T-Mobile's bands. Nobody even knows if it will eventually be able to, either. Until then, you're not even going to get 3G
Well, bought the unlock code from cellunlocker instead, well see how it goes.I want to use the att version on the Rogers network.
Got the unlock code works fine, now using the att cersion on rogers's 4G network !
Thanks for the info on the two networks. I am thinking about waiting for the next GSM unlocked Nexus phone and running that on a prepaid plan that uses TMO or ATT's network. Hopefully we'll see one before the holidays.

[Q] Rooting vs Unlocking ?

This is the first android phone I have, so I hope I am not asking stupid question.
I purchased a tmobile S3 seperately with a not qualified data plan. (the old 2G plan).
Whenever I access the internet , tombile will ask me to change plan instead of the page.
I am now thinking to unlock.
1. Is Rooting = unlocking the phone?
2. What is the best and safe way to Root the phone?
Rooting gives the user access to system files. Unlocking allows your device to function with other SIM cards.

If you bought your phone thru T-Mobile you can call T-Mobile and ask them for the unlocking code. I simply told T-Mobile I was traveling to Europe and wanted to put a European sim card in my phone and use it over there which was true. Within 24 hours I was sent the unlocking code. I can now put just about any sim card into my phone and I am all set. I can also put AT&T's sim card in my phone and get their HSPA+ network without any problems. No rooting needed, just unlock the phone, put the AT&T sim card in and the T-Mobile SGS3 is on the AT&T Network. The T-Mobile version of the SGS3 IMO is the most versatile version of the SGS3, you can get it with 32GB of int memory, 2GB of ram and use it on all Networks, The T-Mobile SGS3 is the only version of the SGS3 that can do all these things.
Rooting is basically the same thing as "jailbreaking*". It removes the restriction to having all files acessable on the phone. Nothing more nothing less.
And unlocking is when you want to use a simcard from a different carrier on your phone.

If you call T-Mobile and ask them for the unlock code, they'll email you the unlock code so you can unlock the phone. I've done it before with my MyTouch4G and am going to call them to unlock my SGS3, as I travel to Canada and use Rogers SIM cards.

[Q] I can't get T-mobile to work..

I'm giving my incredible 2 to my friend who has T-mobile and i flashed cm9 global because it's a gsm default rom and it won't connect to any network i tried putting in the T-mobile apns and they won't show up, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you have the sim unlocked with Verizon before you left their service?

You'll need to call global support and get the unlock code for your sim.
Aye, but I'm not sure Verizon's policy on unlocking the SIM on an unactivated phone. You may have to activate the Inc2 again before they will unlock it.
Maybe someone else knows the policy more and can chime in...

They will unlock one phone per year, shouldn't have to activate it. Please let me know if you can get hspa+ on it once you've done it... For the life of me, I cant get mine to work.

My girlfriend has my old inc2 and she is with tmobile. I just paid one of those sites 10$ for a unlock code and entered in tmobile's apn's and it has data. But with the inc2 being cdma radios and tmobile uses gsm it will only get edge "2g" connection.
I recently unlocked 2 Inc2s in anticipation of moving them to t-mobile. They were both out of contract but still activated, and my first call to global support ended with the woman telling me, bluntly, that Verizon doesn't unlock phones period. I had been telling her that we intended to give them to family members who weren't on Verizon after we upgrade to new phones. No dice.
Not being one to give up, I waited a few minutes, called back and said that we would be traveling to Europe and wanted to be able to use our phones on a local carrier while we were there. No problem, I was given the 2 unlock codes immediately.
So if/when you call, that's probably the best story to use. As soon as they hear that the phones will be going to another carrier, they have no incentive to help.
Ok i finally got the unlock code for it and i was running viper 1.20 and it told me to use the code so i put it in and it said invalid code so i returned to the stock rom and now i don't know what to do, like i don't know where to put the code in at..
Nevermind guys i finally got it unlocked and T-mobile is working fine on it
