I noticed faster battery drain when 4G is enabled. Have any of you installed battery saving software to compensate data connectivity?
When 4G is switched off I easily get more than 2 days worth
Dag is swype good

Try to combine jedix8 and neak kernel then undervolt a bit you will get great battery I use mine for 8hours on screen time with 4g and still get 30% left

I bought Juice Defender and used it on my Sensation and it screwed up my connection so much I had to reinstall the rom, have never used it again.
I'm using Stock, and don't use any battery saver application; obviously running stock is the reason why battery life is mediocre when data connectivity is continuously on. Don't forget to factor in T-Mobile bloat. The battery drains so quickly that for me, 4% is lost in a matter of 30 minutes. Switch of the 4G and I loose 1% in like 30 minutes when my device in use. That's how I know my battery is functioning normally.

Battery seems to be draining more than it should overnight when it's not plugged in. Wifi is by far the largest battery eater. Any way to deal with it?

Well actually the wifi sleep policy should be never. Wifi uses a lot less battery than 3g does.

Well, according to spare parts not only is it on 100% of the time but it is also running 100%. Been doing it ever since EC05. EB13 I was getting phenominal battery life.

My buddy uses it and he said he likes it, I was wondering if anyone has used it on the Gnex? If so how did you like it and how did it perform for you? I'm always looking to save battery life any way possible.

Wanna save battery? Stay away from "battery savers"

I use it on my galaxy Nexus and I'm very satisfied. while it doesn't double the battery life it does increase the battery life by 50 percent .

Battery savers are no more than turning off your radios, such as Wi-Fi. Why do you need that? You can just easily turn them off.
One app that I DO recommend is y5. It detects whether you are close to the Wi-Fi you connected to and turn the Wi-Fi on. And turn it off when you're not near. Super handy for me!
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel, overclocked to 1.4GHz
I tried it and it worked good, but I switched to JuiceDefender and got more options and better battery life. Northern doubled battery life,,but they did increase it.

Stop using the device - that will increase the battery life significantly
Other than that, if you are using the device heavily then it isn't possible to really make the battery last longer, but if you aren't try disabling 3G. If you're in an area with a weak signal then the radio constantly shifts between 2G and 3G using a lot of extra battery.
You can try underclocking, changing which antennae version you use, uninstall apps that hang out and eat batteries when they shouldn't, use auto brightness to keep screen drain to a minimum and buy an extra battery if your phone supports it. Keep off wifi, bt and gps when not in use

Try Android's built-in battery stats to find out what is draining your battery. If that doesn't provide enough detail, try this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sImNvbS5hc2tzdmVuLmJldHRlcmJhdHRlcnlzdGF0cyJd
Download apps that use 2G connections when ur phone is locked, and back on 3G when unlocked.

It's also possible to order an official extended battery from Samsung on eBay. It'll give you enough juice to last about an extra hour, and it only adds a couple millimeters of girth to the phone.
Get an extra battery and eternal battery charger then swap when necessary, I paid 20$ for that setup.

I was on Blazer GB a long time ago getting great battery life.[1 day]
After flashing all Cyanogen Mod builds for ICS and JB then to Paranoid Android. I have been getting bad battery.
I'm not blaming CM or PA .
Is anyone else getting bad battery life too?
I just flashed a nightly build for CM (12/25 to be exact). Its as bad as the rest after GB.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
That is main reason why I stay with GB rom. I'll flashed every single IcS rom and JB rom. At end the day I'll be back with GB rom mainly Caulklin rom

I don't want to go back to GB, although I know its best for me...lol
I'm used to the JB making it simple.

Is your battery swollen? Take it out and spin it on a table on both sides. If it spins like a top its bad.

Sometimes it takes a few cycles to get the battery back into the mood.... Er I mean to display charging % properly.... After flash abuse battery is tends to report false %'s. And no its nothing to do with battery stat calibration.

I used ICS from August to December. The eye candy was nice, and the speed was enjoyable. It felt good to run the latest and greatest.
But the battery life was killing me. I have two batteries, a generic Chinese battery and a bloated OEM battery.
I would go 8 hours a day without even touching my phone, and the battery would be at 20 percent, or even dead. With the bloated battery , max was 3 hours.
I had to go back to gingerbread. Installed calkulins on December 3rd, and Juice defender.
Now I get 10+ hours with my Chinese battery, and 8+ hours with the bloated battery.

Good point! You should definitely take a look to see if the battery is swollen, it is an indicator that the cells are imploding which results in terrible battery life.
I've been hearing a lot of people having problems with their phone turning off right after the boot animation. After the boot animation, the screen flickers and the phone turns off. You will have to plug your phone in to your charger and then turn it back on for your phone to boot up. This is due to your battery going bad. Take it to the nearest Sprint store and they will replace it for free if you have insurance.
Battery is swollen 2 out of 4. 3 are ebay cheap OEM generic LOOKING, but 1 works. Then I have the Sprint offered extended battery works fine.
It has to be that. Some ROMS are killing battery quick too. I use KMS app to kill media server temporarily then it goes back on after a while maybe after 2 hours. But after I've underclocked 200/800 Pegasusq, noop i/o, I've had better life. Not excellent.

Leaked stock TW FL16 doubled my battery life from snipers latest PA 2.5.6. Main difference? Less time "awake" in battery stats. I switched back to stock ICS under same conditions (apps, gps, Wi-Fi on even when not connected) and the leaked stock TW FL 16 was still better. "Android OS" and "Android system" dropped to 4th and 5th on battery consumption percentages. Can't freakin wait till the AWESOME developers that support this device get source code. Then we'll see good battery life again. Maybe not GB good, but better than lately.

I'm going to try that modem, or try flashing the kernel on my PA. Might not work, but I gotta try.

Hello all I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which kernel helps save the most battery. I am a high school student and by the time I get out at 2:15 my batter is at like 30 or 40 percent (even know I don't get that good of service and shouldn't be using my phone In school anyway lol) but im using the infamous 3.9.2 rom... Any suggestions would be great!
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Well to be honest no kernel is gong to be the "best" is more like you need to be conscious what you have on. You have to give more info like what percentage you have brightness on, how often you have data on or gps. Also syncing takes battery away so having those on will take big chunks. Really battery shouldn't be that bad because technically I would guess your not using it as much in school.

I normally have the brightness the lowest it can go. I never have gps on.. I use juice defender to turn off my data when I'm in rooms that get no 4G and im assuming synching is off when my data is off to.

What's your typical usage - the screen on time ?
If it's average use and nothing is wrong, you might want to consider buying either an extra battery or an external battery to charge with. Or an extended battery. Battery battery battery.

use one of the several methods to find out what is using the battery...i use betterbatterystats then i find out whats waking my cpu and go from there...
after that i use titanium to freeze the problem...I do this for several phones and normally can get way better battery life from them
Just make sure you don't freeze something important that's going to cause problems. If it's a app you can always uninstall..I'd your screen time is about 4 to to 6 hours expect like 9 to 10 hours max of battery life. Extended battery will make the phone look bulkier and having a case is a issue. If anything get an external battery possibly with charger too.
