[Q] Checking branding, why can't I update? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I live in Australia, and I bought a Note 2 online through an Australian retailer that gets grey imports.
It's completely unlocked, no branding on it or anything, but I also don't have the 4.1.2 update available to me.
Any ideas why?

are you trying OTA? what message is it giving you?
have you tried kies?
i bought mine from www.shoppingsquare.com.au and i found that it kept coming up with a message saying that updates are rolled out in the order that they are requested when i tried to do OTA. it updates fine when i connect it to my PC and update over kies though.

You have Netherland ROM, you should get update for LL7
try once clear data from
setting - appl manager - All - software update (you can see it two)
clear data from both
-Reboot to recovery
wipe cache
Restart
Check for OTA, still no luck
then manually download and flash with Odin, you can get it from below said thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696

Tried with both Kies and OTA.
I've now rooted, is there no way to do it besides odin or something now?
And is there a way to do it without losing all apps/app data?

Your ROM is not australian but one from gulf or SA and that is latest for that countries. you may have arabic support too.
If you want latest ROM, download from here
you can flash any country stock ROM
Flashing with odin won't erase data, though i highly recommend to have backup.

i had the same question. im running 4.1.1 in the uk on n7100. any ideas when we;ll get 4.1.2? because the moment kies says 4.1.1 is the latest version.

So it won't erase ANYTHING?
Just want to be sure.

Restoring to stock not using right CSC??

Hey there I am attempting to restore my note to stock. My csc for sasktel is BWA. I have downloaded multiple different images that are stock that say are BWA and for sasktel. Everytime I flash one I am stock but it also auto applies the Bell csc, giving me Bell bloatware. What is going on here? Thanks.
Use Kies to restore.

Download Kies on your PC. Go to the restore area. You will have to have your model number and serial number. Its behind the battery I think. Following the instructions and this will return your phone back. Just like you got it of the box.

Confused about Stock ROM versions and installation process

Just to be clear, I HAVE read fully the thread by dr ketan regarding stock rom installation, but it still leaves me with a bunch of questions:
So I have rooted my N7100, and I don't know if I have an update that I can install for my current stock ROM.
When I go into settings>about>system upgrade...it just keeps spinning but nothing happens when I check for updates.
But I am ultra confused about upgrading manually.
1) How do I tell what region my phone is?
2) Can I install a different region's stock rom on my phone via Odin? Does that mean I have to wipe everything?
3) If I can find my region's stock ROM that is a newer version than mine, can I just flash it via Odin and not wipe anything?

1.Dial *#1234# input result here (OR simply select ROM for area you are living to update)
2.You can flash any country ROM, flashing stock ROM doesn't wipe anything, though always advisable to have backup, if anything goes wrong in case.
3.Yes flash with odin, wiping - read above

No I know it doesn't wipe anything, but I'm asking, do I NEED to do a factory reset or anything to make sure it runs stable? When I used to install custom ROMs and whatnot on my phones, I had to always wipe data and cache to make sure it ran properly.

It is not must but I do recommend for best performance.
Search my thread for UBD word in both tab of listing (pda and csc), you have installed one of that rom at presently.
As your ap and csc both have UBD code.

Hi Dr.Ketan, just a question.
I forgot to write down what stock ROM my note 2 came with when I bought it.
And I already flashed a custom ROM (ARHD19)
Just wondering if there's a way to know my phone's stock ROM?
I could look at my friend's note 2 to know, but yeah, I'm curious.
Update with Kies this way
Kies - tools - firmware upgrade initialization
This will bring device to original state, but it will wipe device so backup imp data before this.

Did you try with older version of the rom ?
Try also getting stock Kernel and Bootloader (Not sure if they are with the stock rom already, but I had to get them to get my s3 to stock clean counter and official status)
I have all counter reset. I always have stock software and kernel. I root stock software with stock recovery and stock kernel. Then i unroot phone. And now i can't update my software from System Updates in Settings.
Tapatalk with SwiftKey Flow from my GT-N7100
Yest on gs3 to get all clean was flash stock, flash stock kernel and bootloader, root, use triangle, reflash stock, then all was ok exept status that was modified, but after wipe or factory resert not sure how I proceed, it was back to normal and could use OTA updater
So try this but save your data first
I have all flash counter official and i can't update with OTA.

To get updates from OTA it doesn't matter if you are root or not. You need to have Stock recovery, Stock Kernel and Official status. Look at this thread from the Dr.Ketan
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1930418
I today call to samsung information. I tell about my problem and i hear "You must use kies or go to service" so what? I have latest update of software(odin) and i want can update with OTA but i won't use KIES to can do this.
Tapatalk with SwiftKey Flow from my GT-N7100
Can you check you IMEI please ?
IMEI is orginal. I check it. So what? What can i do for have this OTA updates?
EDIT
After updates to the soft with new modem for my region(KIES). I can't using OTA yet. Someone have any idea? Or service? Help! Please

Did you clear the counter with Triangle Away, and unroot with Supersu Pro before attempting??
Also what method is your ROM setup for... Odin or TWRP?
I have a modded recovery loader so, what I am able to do will be different in results beyond the basics.
Download which one you want from this page:

This isn't for our device specifically, but it's all the same. Kies, tools, emergency recovery.
Just make sure you allow kies to install all the drivers

It is impossible to upgrade to 4.4.2 using N7100XXDMC3 as it is a 4.1.2 update.
Anyway, it looks like ur imei is corrupt. Flash your original firmware to get back the network.
