[Q] Lost imei and baseband after flashing yy custom cm10.1 rom. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note II, and I want to make a custom rom base on cm10.1.
It could work if I flash the official nightly rom.
By following the build guide on cm's wiki, I got an unofficial rom. Then I flashed this rom on my note ii, wipe data and cache.
But after boot, the phone's imei is null and baseband is unknown.
I have already searched the forum, and tried to restore the efs(I backup it before flashing), but it's also not work.
Could anybody help? Thanks.

Reflash stock rom
Then if needs restore efs

HELP Baseband Unknown and Deleted IMEI

Hello guys I just wanna inform you that there is something happening with the CM 11 4.4+ based ROMS
they deleted my Baseband and IMEI
I restored through KIES and got my Baseband and IMEI back but this thing keeps happening and I cannot figure out why?
It's painful procedure because I did this more then 10 times
First I had to Reflash everything through KIES which makes my phone as DEFAULT
then I had to ROOT and install the ROOTED Original 4.3 then I had to install Clockwork Mod with MOBILE ODIN in order for me to install different ROMS
after that I do FULL WIPE ALWAYS
Cache / Dalvik / Data / System even Internal Storage
I installed CM11 whatever ROM u choose:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453586 (tried this one no success)
Tried this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565259 again the same thing Bad baseband
Also this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2493905 OMNI Rom (first installed older version everything was fine but when It updated to the latest OMNI I got the same Unknown Baseband and no DATA whatsoever)
so what the heck is going on? Please help me?
recovery might be the issue
I just had this problem yesterday. You wouldn't happen to be using TWRP recovery would you? I found that if I was using TWRP and Kit Kat AOKP I would have no service and my APN list would be empty. If I used Philz Custom recovery or CWM it would work fine.
I tried going downloading the newest 2.6.3.1 version of TWRP and it made my phone unable to boot. I had to flash another recovery via Odin in order to get back into my phone.
Just a thought.
I've had this issue as well and for some reason the latest nightlies don't play nice with my phone and recovery I'm using the latest official twrp for t0lte. Not t0ltetmo. I recently tried fishing the last multi window and I lost my microphone use. I have since reverted to a homemade build from January.. It seems to be the only thing that works.

Guys I used both CWM and TWRP both the latest versions... and this thing happen during both tries... I don't think it's the Recovery!

[Q] Mobile Data Problem w/ Kitkat ROMs

Hi all, long time lurker and it's finally come to the point where I don't know what to do about my problem.
I've tried running multiple ROMs, CM10, CM11, AOSP, Carbon KK and for some reason, for each of these ROMs, the data doesn't seem to work. I have full reception and everything works well except I can't seem to get any sort of data transfer.
The only time the data works is when I restock the phone back to ATT I747 UCUEMJB stock ontop of installing the Modem CWM I747UCUEMJB.
I'm currently running AOSB Kitkat 1.2.9
Kernel version 3.4.79-cyanogenmod-g29c22cf
Modem CWM I747UCUEMJB
Any thoughts on how I can fix this data problem?
I am also facing this problme. I have only one ROM with working data is unified version for S3 of Illusion Rom. On SCH-R530U

So I actually got it working and it was a weird fix... I've been using ATT_I747_UCUEMJP_StockRestore_2282014.zip to bring it back to stock and then using the rooting system from that stock rom.
My friend suggested to try using another root, so I brough it back to CF-Autoroot and it works. Not sure why... but maybe give it a try if your using that stock rom?

Baseband is ok. Just restore a nandroid or flash a custom rom or what ever. And you will be ok.

Here are the CM11 snapshots. They haven't posted a new one in quite a while.
The nightlies are here and they're much more recent builds. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot going on with kitkat right now. I've run the nightlies recently and they were nice and stable.
There is an unofficial CM12 thread maintained in the developer section of the forum here. Its pretty solid, but it is still working through some issues with camera, ril, etc.

I can flash d2lte custom rom for i747m canadian s3 right ?
Does installing custom rom can brick my phone?
And how do i uninstall them ?
Sent from my SGH-I747M using XDA Free mobile app
You can flash any ROM that is made for the d2lte, no others. For ROMS that are based on a Samsung i747 kernel, the success of getting everything working on the ROM can be hit and miss.
Custom ROMs do not usually touch the bootloader or modem. If you're not sure, carefully read through thr thread before flashing.
You can't uninstall a ROM, you can only overwrite it with another ROM or you restore a previous ROM from your nandroid backup.

Can i install cm 11-m12 snapshot? Is there any chances of bricking my device while installing it?
One more thing before i flashed philz touch theres some lone saying in the stock recovery "qualcomm secure boot:enabled" i dont have any idea on its purpose
Sent from my SGH-I747M using XDA Free mobile app
the CM ROMs do not contain the kernel.
yes you can flash the CM 11/12 snapshots (d2lte).
there is ALWAYS a chance of bricking a device when flashing custom ROMs , but you should be fine.
the "qualcomm secure boot:enabled" message , means the bootloader is in a secure folder ( @audit13).

I found this on another forum re: Qualcomm secure boot:enabled
Secure boot is for downgrade and patch protection.
Write protection is same patch protection to avoid 3rd party to patch any partitions.
You can always flash stock any condition. but stock should be same or latest.

I can not vouch for the accuracy of the statement.
I am frequently seeing reports that CM12 and the most recent nightlies of CM11 require a KitKat bootloader and modem, NE/NF at a minimum. (But then I have one or two state that they are having no problems with the 4.3 bootloader and modem.) If you go with CM11/12 and have connection issues you may need to upgrade past MK5 to resolve them.

This is a great point.
Look in your settings -> about phone and see what baseband it says you have. Then have a look in the firmware section in sammobile.com, look up i747m then find your firmware number. Just to get a feel for how old it is.
Before you flash a custom ROM make a backup. Once you flash your custom rom , if you find you have no signal or a blank imei, don't panic. Restore you backup and see if signal, data, and imei come back. A modem that doesn't work with your ROM will look like a blank imei. Don't just start googling lost imei, it won't help, and you might make the problem worse.
And if you root your stock ROM, before you flash anything enter this in a terminal.
Code:
su
reboot nvbackup
That will fix a Samsung derp and give you a working efs backup instead of a blank one, making it a lot less likely you ever actually lose your imei.

Another great point.
This is supposed to poputlate a partition(s) left empty by Samsung. I have done this to my Captivate and to my SGS3. The partition is not overwritten during flashing stock or custom roms and serves as a permanent nvdata backup. It is used to automatically rebuild the imei/nvdata if it is fouled during flashing. It is unknown as to why Samsung left it empty. My guess is that the partition would be specific to each phone and would therefore require each phone to be individually handled to populate the partition instead of batching entire production runs.
Help

Are you trying to restore the backup using the same make of custom recovery with which you made the backup?
If you made the backup with TWRP you can not restore it with Philz.
Also coming back from any of the 5.0.x Lollipop roms you may well have to perform a complete wipe. Not only must you wipe cache, dalvik cache, and data; you may also have to reformat system or even your internal sdcard. I have read of a few instances where the person had to restore a stock recovery and do a factory reset with it, for some reason this seems to reset differently than doing a factory reset from within a custom recovery. (I don't recall the details.)
