System version?? If its first gen it will be 6.3.1 .
When did you get it? If you got it retail for the past 2-3 months, it is most likely kf2.

My girlfriend got a kindle fire for Christmas, and isn't too fond of it. She prefers my nexus 7. So since I rooted my phone and tablet, I figured I could root it and put something like asop on it.
Since I don't have a kindle this isn't my area of knowledge..... So what ROMs do you guys suggest? And what is the easiest root method?

Is it a 1st gen or 2nd gen Kindle Fire? Your answer will greatly affect what you install.....

Hey guys, hoping someone here can help me out. Just picked up a kindle fire for $20. Won't turn on, when plugged in it flashes green and orange. The guy I got it off of said he bought it new about 6 months ago then this happened.

Title should have said "new to me kindle".
I think it's a 2nd gen not hd if that helps.
