4.2 and Mac file transfer - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Is anyone using a Mac (10.8.2) to transfer files from PC to Phone (internal and external storage)??
What's everyone using? Android File Transfer.app DOES NOT work
thanks

I use AirDroid. It connects wirelessly to your phone via WiFi. A greatly convenient app.

I like using ftp. It's pretty fast, and ftp is a breeze to setup on a mac. Then you can use AndFTP on your phone.
If you want to use your USB, you can look into using adb from the Android SDK. With that you can use "adb push" to push files to your phone or "adb pull" to put them from your phone to your computer.

Installing '.apk' apps directly from a computer

Been looking for a thread on this but cannot seem to find it. How does one go about doing this? If I download an app to the computer and want to install directly to the phone, how can I do it if Kies does not allow me to do it? It keeps telling me it is not the right format when '.apk.' states it is.
BTW, is the lastest Kies suite v1.5.1.10074_2?
Switch to mass storage on your phone and transfer the file over.

You don't need Kies. Just connect your phone as a "Mass Storage device" to your computer and copy the apk file either to the internal or external sd card. Then using a folder organizer (either the inbuilt or any other app like astro) locate the apk file on your phone and click on it. It should then prompt you to install it.
Hope this helps.
adb install
Or if u cant use USB cable, just transfer the .apk file to your SGS via bluetooth then find the file in your SGS. default is:/sdcard/bluetooth then ryn it from there.
GL
Estrongs File Explorer can access any share on your computer directly.
Also, you can use adbWireless (just search for it). Assuming the SDK is installed, you can do:
adb connect x.x.x.x (your phone's ip address)
adb install your_app.apk
No usb connection needed.
Thanks guys. I transfered the file directly using the Mass Storage method used Astro to gain access to the file to install it. Great help from all of you. I do appreciate it very much. Again, a big thank you.
Dropbox is also great for transfering apk-files to your phone!

That's what I'm using
Perfectly fine, and even very practical. I sometimes give out links to my dropbox to my friends if they want an app that they saw on my phone.
Whoops, double post.

Just use adb. It is much more stable.
Open a command prompt and type it in this format:
adb push /path/to/file.zip /sdcard/

Android File Transfer Not Working

Android File Transfer isn't working with my Mac after flashing Asylum CM10.2. Have searched the forums and having a difficult time finding a fix. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I would have posted in the Team Asylum's forum but I don't have enough posts to post in the development section.

have you tried another method to make the connection is working? If you have a file explorer, try connecting to your PC via lan. See if you can see your shared drives.
Thanks for the advice! The lan connection worked.

For those of you having problems with AFT I found a solution:
Navigate to settings>storage>menu button>USB computer connection>enable MTP
If that doesn't work then check out this site, there are lots of AFT fixes:http://www.tweaking4all.com/mobile-devices/android-mobile-devices/android-file-transfer/

You can try Android Manager to transfer your files between Android and computer. Android Manager can do this in the same way. It is a management tool that can transfer files between computer and Android phone. You just need to launch it in you computer, and then connect your phone to computer. It will export files from MAC to Android and import files from Android to MAC. Just have a try! It will solve your problem.

Downloaded files won't open on PC

Hello,
I was trying few things:
1. Download sound card drivers to my Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, then copy them to USB memory stick. When i tried to install them on PC I got a message that *.exe file is corrupted.
2. I had a Google document (docx) and I did convert it to a pdf file with android app. I was able to open it normally on android device but unable to do iton PC. Same issue, file corrupted.
My memory stick is FAT32, never had any problems with it.
What tha hell is going on? Pictures and other media files works great while transfering, these I mentioned about not.
Please help!

I think I may know what happend, but didn't try yet. Probably I did remove memo stick without taping "safely remove..." and data wasn't copied right. I don't know about pdf files if they were converted good but drivers works fine now.

[Q] Can I explore root folders on pc?

Same as the question can i explore root folders on pc? And if yes how?
Correct me of I'm wrong but as far as I know you can only explore root folders using the command line tool adb. I'm not aware of any GUI apps that can do this.
