This thing is reallllyyy pissing me off. Before people say "are you happy now, see ya later, or the iPhone sucks"
Their are serious issues with the Android OS and the Battery is the main problem with the EVO.
Now if someone can give me a fix for this I would greatly appreciate it and continue to love using my phone again but untill then Every little thing is going wrong with this phone to make me want to switch.
Here it is:
I am NOT rooted! I have 4G turned off, WIFI, bluetooth, and GPS turned off, I also have the screen brightness set to automatic. I have no widgets on the home screen that require an internet connection, and have all syncing turned off, on everything! that includes contacts, facebook, mail (stock and gmail) weather, and news.
I even have "enable always-on mobile data" turned off.
I am currently using Launcher Pro, but was using ADW launcher before that and then stock 2.1 android (no sense turned on, on all of them)
My battery barely makes it 8 hours without being on low.
under the battery category, for the past week or so plus, I havent really checked into that, So i can't tell you when it started, as been on 100%
So my uptime and my awake time have been the same.
I have turned the phone on and off 5 times already, used a task killer, turned on airplane mode, and no dice.
The only definite fix, is going one by one and deleting an app, turning the phone on and off, and looking at battery usage, I have easily 25 apps and that will take forever. Or doing a hard reset, something I do not want to waste my time doing again, reconfiguring my phone, and reinstalling a bunch of apps and settings.
An example of todays usage, I am not exagerating any of this.
I unplugged it at 10:30 AM, 25 total text messages (going in an out) no phone calls, 4G was on and connected for a total of 2 Minutes.
Now I know if you leave 4G on and you are not connected it kills the battery, but I had it off, turned it on for 2 Minutes because I was in chicago, and wanted to see how fast it was ran 3 speed tests, and turned it off.
I refreshed my email 4 times, That means opening up the mail app, clicking menu and refresh, same thing with facebook, refreshed my news feed 5 times. and at 6:30
I have 2 out of the 5 bars left.
That is absolutely rediculous, I am past my 30 day return time.
An OS that allows certain apps to keep the phone on and make the battery life horrible is rediculous.
This is a list of all apps I have both from the market and off:
advanced task killer
AK notepad
akari
astro
better cut
betterkeyboard
dictionary.com (offical App)
facebook
find my phone
Flikie wallpaper
fox news
handcent sms
keeper
leet speak
live scores
memory trainer
news and weather (from nexus one, but refreshing is on manual)
pass phrase
pda net
picsay pro
qik
ringroid
shazam
speedtest
status notes
texas hold em
tip calculator
tv listings
urban dictionary
zedge
I have notice one thing tho with launcherpro, for some reason when I go into an app or hold down the home button to bring up the multitasking 6 app menu, and then click home after, the setting to come up that asks which home launcher I want
HTC sense or Launcherpro
comes up all the time, like 10 times a day, and I always click choose this action for default and click launcher pro and sure enough after opening a couple apps, and clicking home the box will come up, may be that has something to do with the battery I dont know tho.
If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate, and you would save an evo from being thrown into a wall.
thanks.
Try out CM6 and I guarantee you'll never even think about an iphone again.
Like he said above.. Root and get cm6.. I can go 2 days easy regular use..

can you post a link to which one you are talking about, because I looked up on android Development and it said the cyanmod or what ever it was was not very stable, so I don't know about that.
And if the iPhone is such a terrible phone, why should I have to root my phone and install a custom ROM in in order for it to work properly, IOS 4 does not have that.
The key is in data if your not using mobile data then use the widget to turn it off til you need it. Or root and flash a custom rom. They have better battery life hands down

Because i don't have to wrap my phone in Rubber or Duct Tape it for it to make a phone call or maintain a data connection. You were just asking to get flamed by posting this. If you wan't help from people around here, bashing Android and saying "IOS 4 has no problems!!!" isn't going to be your best option.
P.S. Stock Android 2.1 or even Sense UI crushes IOS 4. Maybe it's not the phone....maybe it's the user.
You didn't specifically say that you had Google talk signed out. Turn off auto sign in on that app and it makes a huge difference.

I didn't see anyone mention this, not that it's going to be your issue but it could be something to check.
I recall a friend having a severe battery issue and it turned out the stock calendar program was preventing his phone from hibernating and thus being on constantly.
Just something to try, I hope you find out what's up soon. Also not sure if you have a spare battery, but sometimes you can get a dud and the only way to test that is try another battery.
Seriously, if you think iOS4 is better than Android then that's the phone you need. You pretty much just wasted everyone's time with all that.
While I would agree that if you want to get dramatically improved battery life, your best bet is to root it and flash a custom rom, Even when my phone was stock it got much better battery life than yours seems to be getting. I actually ran my phone for for weeks stock, not rooted, so I would have a good baseline of experience when I did start to customize it.
Typically, my phone would last about 10-14 hours before needing to be recharged. That would be with slightly more usage than you indicate, and with data and gps always on, but 4g off, as I don't live in a 4g area.
Now that I am rooted, and am running Fresh 1.0.1 and the fps fix kernel, and a battery saver setcpu profile, the same use gives me more than 50% charge left after running 14-16 hours off the charger.
Personally, it sounds to me like you might have a defective battery. As one of the previous posters said, I would recommend you try the instructions in one of the battery life threads here and if that didn't work, I would take it to the Sprint repair center.

iphone isn't a terrible phone, it just doesn't compare to an EVO.
anything iphone can do, the evo can do - and do it better.
no need to be on wi-fi for a video chat!
Why would you buy a 4.3 inch screen....4g.... and expect awesome battery? Yes it could be better but come-on....if you didn't expect it to have bad battery life....?????????? That's all I can say I just don't understand...android phones normally have bad battery life on top of all that....
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm having the same issues as you except that I am rooted. Have an underclocked phone and Baked Snack 9.7
I'm really beginning to think that the people that claim to get 14+ hours of battery life is just a bunch of bs. I do exactly what they do and i get no where near the 18 hours some users claim to get. And for the people bashing the iphone, its not a bad phone, and almost everyone that invests $200 in a phone get a case anyway. And no i'm not bashing the Evo either. Battery life just sucks on it.

No offense, but it seems like you kind of made up your mind already on what you want to do. Iphone 4 is a good phone, but honestly, it gets boring after about a week, if that. Android is so much fun. You don't have to root your phone for it to work properly. Do some research into why batteries drain really fast with this phone. You do realize how big the screen is right? lol. I''l give you ups and downs of both phones.
Iphone 4-
Good
Nice looking phone, OS is smooth, apps.
Bad
Got to watch where you hold it, AT&T (they don't have unlimited data plan), not very much to do with Iphone
Evo
Good
Big screen, Sprint, camera, don't have to be on wi-fi for video calling, fully customizable, even more so if you root it. There are more but tired of typing!
Bad
Battery
Thats just my opinion though. I would have more bad things to say about it if not for Cyanogen. Its like an overgrown Nexus now! Sorry for the long post. lol. If you have any questions on how to root or anything feel free to send me a message or whatever.

I have been reading everyday since the day it came out... the same day I bought it.
Hope you all don't mind but I have quite a few questions/frustrations
1st, Battery life is killing me... cannot make it through a day, I have put my screen on auto which seems a lot dimmer than set to 40 or 60%. All I do is play some solitaire, check mail a lot, a little bit of net, maybe 30 minutes of calls (tops) a few txt msgs, with maybe 2 hours or slightly more of screen time.
External speaker is embarrassing... tried showing a video to a friend with an iphone and felt like flushing the damn phone after he did the same.
Data connectivity is still hit and miss... one minute I have 4 bars of 4G and the next I have none.
I am on (details in sig) 4.0.4 (Craig Gomez version) with the newest radios. The device is a serious work tool for me so I really don't have the time to try different ROMS or kernels all the time... I need it always ready for calls, emails and occasional RDP or Logmein sessions .
For those of you have actually tried many/experienced in the world of various ROMs & kernels... do you have a suggestion of what to do with my setup?
Between the battery and data connectivity I feel the phone is close to crap... my friends with Razors have none of these problems and I feel like I am ready to snap.
BTW... if you could be even more kind... if you have a suggestion on what to run, could you suggest a brief set of instructions... i.e. nandriod, full wipe, install this first that second...
Thanks for any and all help... I sure would like to come up with or remember a reason why I have this and not a razor max.
Do you have the latest radios? That will make a difference. I do know the speaker is weak. There's not much to do but for a volume hack, some roms have it enabled.
Id ask for a replacement phone if battery is that bad and you can't get a decent signal anywhere but other phones can. Sounds like a defective phone.
I've been using Android Revolution for about 2 weeks, and as for today, I don't think there's anything as good as it. It's just like stock, just a little bit faster. I have great battery life, 5 to 6 Hours of screen on time, AutoBrightness, sync on, wifi always on, etc, it's pretty good, you should give it a try.
I've also used AOKP (with FrancoKernel and with stock kernel), and even tho I liked all extra features, in my experience, with screen off, it drains battery a looot faster that stock/ARHD.
I used an app called equalizer to fix the speaker

Autobrightness will kill your battery more than a static 40 or 60%.
2 hours of screen on time seems normal for the Verizon Nexus.
Try the volume + app for your speaker problems.
There are some kernels that have sound boosts built in.
Signal drops means you should exchange the phone. Use the insurance.
Honestly if you hate the phone as much as it sounds, just get a different phone.

Perfect response.
Don't get me wrong... I in no way "hate" phone, if I did I would have gotten rid of it.
I'm frustrated not stupid.
I am amazed that Verizon hasn't done something about it... most of the buyers of this phone are not IT savvy rooters... my phone works a lot better than stock, I cannot imagine how frustrated someone on 4.0.2 would be.
Anyway... I am going to take it back to stock and return it... guess I will try it (the new one) out stock but I know I will want it rooted. Guess I'll try some of the suggested software\ROMS.
I wonder what a stock one is coming with these days?

Well... things just changed again.
Just talked with Verizon and he asked if I installed the update pushed out on the 25th? I told him I will give it a shot and get back to them.
Anyone got instructions for reverting back to stock?

Hello all!
So a couple of days ago I traded my iPhone 4S 32GB for an SIII. So far I am quite delighted. It is a bit overwhelming at first and it's still taking time to adjust. I have heard from Reddit that this community is awesome.
Anyways the trade went fine and made sure the name, ID, and the IMEI checked out. I called AT&T and all I needed to do was get a new SIM card due to data plans. I love the new refreshing look and the sharp colors and resolution. The Super AMOLED display is definitely on par with the retina display.
It's still within return policy so I might be able to exchange it with AT&T. Even though I didn't purchase it, but can I exchange it? I have the white color and would like the blue if possible. I have the receipt.
It runs quite hot when I use it for a while but my 4S was hotter.
Battery life is definitely much less than the 4S. How can I improve this? I use a wifi connection at home.
What are some tests or things I can run to make sure everything is working fine before I consider rooting?
What are some optimizations or some settings that are must?
I'm a college student student. What are some essential apps I should get? I also watch a lot of movies and stream music is there something better than Pandora?
I want to do one last factory reset. I installed a lot of applications already like 20+ how can I back these? How can I backup everything and than sync it all again after the reset? I have an SD card.
Are there any good protective cases for the S3? Are the colors interchangeable? I. E. Going from white to blue s3.
Is there any cool tip or trick that I can do with the S3?
Also I have quite sweaty hands. How can I take care of the screen?
Thanks
Without rooting is will be hard to backup your apps. However the play store will show you all previously downloaded apps that's you can 're-download.
What I've known to kill my battery is if I have several apps syncing to the phone, from those apps that you downloaded are they free games that might be getting advertisement.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
main reasons for battery drain:
sync
screen on
4g data
so if you have apps that runs in the background a lot and constantly pushes notifications that will kill it.
being on wifi should save it a bit more than 4g
Welcome =)
Hey, Welcome. I trade my 4S for SIII about a month ago, As you said it is a bit overwhelming at first, but once you get used to it, its just great.
As far as app, goes, just install all the apps you had on iPhone. that's where I started it. Evernote, Pandora, iheartradio, flipboard, facebook, twitter...etc. I got most of the app I used everyday on it, so I felt right at home.
Battery also as you said, take a bit of a hit, i used to charge my phone every other day, now i need to do it every night, thats not really a big deal.
I then rooted my phone, installed CM10 Jell bean and it super great, got rid of all the bloatware that came with stock and Google now + porject butter just make thing so much much easier =).
I always had my iPhone jailbroken so rooting and installing custom rom is not a estrange thing to me, if you are not technical and rather stay in stock, just don't mess with it.

None i can think of besides discharging your battery to around 20% than fully charge your battery, do this about 3 times. Called battery conditioning.

All your apps are tied to your google account. When you sign in again to google on your phone after a factory reset apps will start downloading. Make sure you are syncing to google.

Colors are not interchangeable, thats why samsung specifically sells two different colors. If you are feeling like a brave one, you can buy the shell online and rip the phone apart and change it yourself - this is the unofficial route though.

running the bell version of jb I get 4 hours screen time, 2 hours talk time and 16 hours up time. Nothing special done, just debloated. I never use WiFi either, always on mobile data. Haven't had the same luck with the t mobile version though.
On stock,I would get about 2.5 hr screen, 1.5 talk and about 16hr screen.
These numbers of course are not always the case, but I check everyday at the end of the day and they are almost always pretty close, obviously if your usage varies, than do still your battery life. They have been days where I get 24 hr+ up time and then others where I have gotten 10. Either way, far better than any iPhone I have had (had then all but the 4s)

Turn off auto brightness and keep it dimmer. In doors I usually have my brightness at around 25% or 35% and this is more than enough for me. Obviously turn it up if going outside.
Turn off syncs you don't want. I saw that you mentioned that you are on at&t and by default it has pictures to sync with picasa. Turn this off as it'll KILL your data, it'll be uploading your pictures all the time and with cameras getting higher and higher resolutions they make larger and larger files.
Some people say that juice defender is a good app to use to save battery. Personally I never liked apps like it that turn off data/wifi when my phone screen is off because for me it usually takes too long to turn those back on.
Stay away from auto task killers.

Can't think of any major streaming music services that are exclusive to android. There is google play that gives you the option to upload your music from your computer to their cloud and then it'll stream your music to any device you want. I'd say download whatever apps you enjoyed on your iphone as many are on android as well. If you can't find an app do a google search for an equivalent on android.

After a factory reset when setting the phone up, it should give the option to have the phone backed up with google. If this is checked whenever you finish the setup it'll start to download the apps you had. I can't remember off the top of my head but I did see a method on XDA front page several weeks ago that gave information on how to back up your apps without rooting, might want to look into that if you don't want to root.

There is no easy way to go from white to blue as they are part of the case of the phone. The only way to change without going to the store for an exchange is to rip your phone apart which I would advise doing. There are plenty of protective cases to choose from though.

Things I can think off of the top of my head:
Swiping the side of your hand(think ninja chop) across your screen will take a screen shot.
Disabling s-voice from using the home button double press will make your home button return you to your home screen faster.

Buy a screen protector is the only bit of advise I can give you.
With all that being said, if you really want to increase battery life I'd advise rooting. This'll give you access to cpu control apps. The s3 is the first phone I've seen which has a cpu governor set to default at performance. The cpu governor is what determines how your cpu will scale it's speeds, ie going from 300 mhz to 500 to 1500 etc. The performance governor will only allow two speeds, the lowest speed and the max speed. This makes your phone very snappy but isn't battery efficient. A cpu app like set spu or voltage control will allow you to change your governor to something that is more kind to your battery.
Feel free to look through the forums for other apps you might want or info. If you're feeling really confident I'd advise trying a custom kernel or custom rom as they'll open up a whole new world to you, just make sure you research on how to recover your phone from a softbrick/return it to stock. I'd also like to suggest you make a nandroid backup of your phone before flashing anything in a custom recovery.
One more thing I would give as advice is to try a different launcher like apex/go launcher ex/nova/adw. These give you themes to modify your phone easily and without root.
I forgot one last thing to add. REDDIT!!!!
I have a major problem with the Power for my Epic. It is not rooted or anything fancy. The charging port is broken (yes, its all kaboom). I can only charge the phone by taking out the battery, charge the battery with a charger (available at Radio Shack for only $40!) and put it back in. The problem is...the phone won't turn on! I had to declare war yesterday until I finally forced Google to provide an answer which was to remove the battery, hold the Power button for 15 seconds, put the battery back in and turn it on. Hallelujah! It worked! Then later into half of the day, the battery was low, so I properly turned off the phone in order to remove the battery to charge it. And now the phone will not, I repeat, will not power back on under my command!!! I have tried and tried everything, alternating different ways and amount of seconds of waiting and holding the Power button....nothing! What can I do? I came across mentions of the Hard Reset button under the battery cover. I can't find it. Where is it? Also, is there any other way to make this work? I have to fight this every time I am done charging the battery. No, I repeat, it is not the battery since it works in another phone. It is the phone. Please help me! This is pushing me on the verge of *sighs* fatal suicide! Ahhhh Ahhhhhhhh AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

How old is the phone & do you have TEP?
Sounds like you need to take it to the Sprint store for replacement.
If you have TEP & it is over 1 yr old then it will cost $100.00 to replace it.
As far as the reset button......that's a myth.....some people have claimed to have it, but money has been offered for a picture of the magic button & no one has produced even one picture of the magic reset button (that I am aware of)......most of the Dev's on here will tell you the button is only a myth.......
It might be a year or a little less. I don't have TEP. The phone is all I have and I would rather not replace it, cuz Samsung doesn't know how to increase the 512mb to 1gb of RAM, so a lot of apps are making the phone freeze cuz RAM is always maxed out. I'm thinking about getting the blue S3, but really want to use the phone until then. I dunno why it won't power back on. I managed to get it to work once then it just cries cuz I take battery out.
I would suggest some options that require rooting & flashing a custom ROM to make the phone work as it should. But with a damaged USB connector on the phone (as I understood you to say you had) you cannot flash anything. There is no way of increasing the RAM in the phone, but the internal storage can be increased to alomst 700MB by converting to MTD. I have been running CleanGB MTD (slightly overclocked) for a long while now & this phone continues to amaze me. It handles everything I throw at it without any problems. It multi tasks great. Stock it may not be as good, but our Dev's here do a great job & have turned this phone into a great device. The RAM issue has not been a problem for me yet & I push this thing to do way more than it is supposed to do.
If it is less than a year old then the replacement should be $35.00 think. It's a handling fee Sprint charges with no TEP for warranty replacements. Sounds like you don't have an upgrade coming yet either.
Hopefully one of these other guys will have some insite into how to help this situation, but I am not sure what to do with a bad usb port.
monke30butt, will you help me one-on-one through PM or Messenger if I were to decide on replacing for another Epic? I really love the phone, just not happy with the RAM. If what you said is true, then I am interested in what you did on your Epic, so I can do the same. I don't do much, but I have themes, locker, launcher, other customs that takes up RAM. If you could help me, I would be willing to exchange for a new Epic. If you can't, I could try to risk the S3. The Epic is so glorious with the camera quality (compared to mom's phone making green look yellowish in aquariums), that Epic makes the green so deeply dark and lushy.
And I wonder how to add a stabilization feature to the camera's video?
If you need help, I can try to lend a hand.
For my current setup: All I did was root the phone, flash Clean GB MTD (The Peoples ROM is said to be good too), adjusted CPU speed with SetCPU & adjusted SD cache size to make the best use out of the class 10 memory card I installed (it flys now!!!). I didn't do anything special. The Dev's that cook up the ROM'S, mods, & various fixes should get ALL of the credit for the improvements of how the phone works. I just used what they posted.
They say the CM roms are very good too, but I have not personally tried them yet. Trying to decide between TPR next or CM7 w/crespo modem.
Yes, I've rooted this phone before and well, I don't know how I was able to do it, but I got it rooted, which is amazing for a retard like me. It was so kool. I can't remember what ROM I used and I got heavy help thru a chat on here and some people helped thru texting, etc. Then later, I had problems and it was hard for me to solve and accept updates and many things, so I went back to stock and I don't remember how I did that. Everything you said that you used are way different than what I used, so I guess those were developed way after the time I was into rooting and those wasn't available. At the end, when I went back to stock, the Epic place was slowing down and people were moving on, but surprised me to see some activity on here, especially from ya, so thanks. I will consider what I want, exchange or get S3. Another reason why I went back to stock was that with GO DEV Launcher EX, there was a glorious blue theme that was so perfect that it was everything that I wanted. When I rooted, I wanted to do that, cuz I wanted a nice theme for locker, text message, contact, etc, but I found out that GO made it possible for all of that without rooting, so it made it so much easier for a lil retard like me, but I do miss the plentiful of RAM and removal of Sprint's junk including that stupid Optimizer, etc.
Well, that explains your RAM problems. The GO products are nice, but they eat your resources.
Go to the development section and go to the rooting sticky. Watch QBKing's video a couple times. Even my 2 year old could do it after watching that.

Yeah. GO are very devious. I've always wanted to start Wake Up GO DEVils website to force them to listen and change. One example, in the Dialer, they took away the ability for us to dial a number and select Text. The only big button available down there is Call, which is highly offensive to thousands of deaf customers. Hundreds of emails, GO DEVils continued to ignore. Plus, they do random "air push" (I think is whats the name) notification ads and adding icon ads. Want to know the shocking thing? Mine are free (maybe one was paid, I dunno), but majority of what I downloaded and used are free. Not once do I get any junky ads. Okay....how about mom? Tons of ads!!! She and I use the same thing other than hers are pink theme (which are a paid feature) and those are loaded with ads. Did the GO DEVils ever listen once to correct this and behave? Never!
Lol that's go for ya... if you decide to stick with the epic and want to root it... you can pm me for help or hit me up on gtalk... I am pretty active on here and can walk you through it... gtalk is xda username at gmail.com....

It looks like Radio Shack is trying to scam people. Their $99 price is for new account only and it doesn't include new line, either, that I had done for my Epic. The new line price is $199. So, I am leaning toward replacing the Epic with another Epic. However, I do need to know something. GS3 have Stabilization for the pix/vidz, which is something that I seriously need since I always do pix and vidz with my smartphone. Epic does not have that. Is this a hardware or software feature? If it is a software feature, are there any camera app on the market that includes Stabilization? If not, I will fork over the money for the GS3. Btw, now I see two people offering one-on-one help. That makes it super hard for me to decide and pick one.
If I do decide on staying with the Epic, then rooting will mainly be for the RAM space as I will continue to use GO software and themes that I love.

If you decide on the gs3, pm naddict, he will help with the rooting and such for that phone... if you decide on the epic, my offer always stands..
I still need to know about the Stabilization.
About eight months ago I traded in my Verizon BlackBerry for a Droid Incredible 2, but I still have a LOT to learn, so please bare with me
When I got my Inc2 I immediately got it rooted & flashed with a LOT of help as it took numerous steps and two days to complete. So from day one I've been using Skyraider Zeus, and have really enjoyed it. But recently the battery icon has started turning red with an exclamation point. After having been told by a number of people that this sounded like a battery issue, so I purchased a new battery. Unfortunately that didn't solve the issue. It was then suggested that I flash a new ROM to see if that would fix it. I assumed it would, to an extent, since most ROM's use different battery icon images.
So I traded (begrudgingly) my beloved Skyraider Zeus this weekend for ViperINC 1.3.1. Unfortunately I only used this ROM about 24-hours because I could no longer use wireless tether, which for me was a deal-breaker
I then traded ViperINC for Magnolia 2.1.1, which I very much liked because it was so similar to Skyraider Zeus, and I was once again able to use my wireless tether. Unfortunately I started experiencing the red battery icon issue again, as well as it would not allow me to connect my Google account, thus preventing me from using a lot of features.
So last night I went back to the nandroid backup from over the weekend and am now back to my beloved Skyraider Zeus *SMH*
All this having been said, I have two questions....
First... does anyone have an idea of what could be causing the issue with the battery icon turning red?
Second... can anyone recommend a ROM similar to Skyraider Zeus that can handle my excessive use (email, web, SMS & voice), that supports wireless tether and (if possible) allows me to take screenshots (preferably from the power button like Skyraider)? Oh, and the fewer steps to flash, the better LOL!
Thanks in advance to those who reply!!

It means the phone can't read the battery information (charge level, temperature, etc)... I would first try pulling out the battery and checking the contacts on the battery and the phone. If they are bent or messed up, return the phone to stock and take it back to Verizon for a replacement.

I had a number of people suggest it was a battery issue, but cleaning the contacts didn't solve it, so I just got a new battery. But even with the new battery it still happens. I've had days where it barely happens at all, and then I have days where it will stay red almost all day. So I'm thinking it isn't a battery issue at all, but instead is something with the device itself. Which is why I tried a new ROM over the weekend, but again the issue persisted.
Also, I purchased the device outright from someone, so taking it into Verizon isn't an option. That is why I am hoping someone will know how I can fix it since it doesn't appear to be the battery or the ROM causing it
Thanks again!
Your problem definitely sounds like a hardware issue. It could be as simple as a lose connection on the back side of the battery contacts inside your phone. If it isn't negatively affecting the phone's actual battery life and you don't want to crack open the case, you may just have to accept it's imperfection.
As for Rom suggestions... In all honesty, if SkyRader works for you, stick with it. It really is one of the most complete, thorough, and fully functionl GB-basd Sense Roms available for the phone. You could give UKB Evolution a try. But being ICS-based will lend to some "quirks" that may or may not dissuade you from using it.
My wife's phone has the same issue and it is stock unrooted. If memory serves me correctly doesn't skyraider have the option to hide the battery from the status bar? If so just hide it so you don't see it and maybe get a battery widget. The widget may not work either. My wife's phone works fine so it doesn't appear to affect it. And I agree with the above statement that skyraider is hard to beat. As far as gingerbread sense it is my go to rom. I always keep it on my phone in case my phone acts up and I need something dependable.

It's hard to say if it's having a negative affect or not. My battery has drained like crazy since day one, but I don't know if it's a normal amount of battery drain or not, nor do I know what causes it. I am a heavy user at times, but there are still those days where it seems to drain much quicker than it should in my opinion. All I do know is when compared to my old BlackBerry, this device is as bad and even sometimes worse when it comes to battery drain.
As far as ROM's go, I think I will just stick with Skyraider unless something really catches my eye, especially since the whole process really isn't all that fun for me LOL!
Thanks again!!

I don't honestly know if it can be hid or not to tell you the truth. But it isn't that it bothers me, it just concerns me is all. Especially when I started looking into possible causes and had even the most Android knowledgeable people I know stumped. But it doesn't appear that there is any cut and dry explanation for it, so I guess all I can do is wait hope whatever it is doesn't get worse.
In the meantime I will be sticking with Skyraider. It was nice having a different appearance for the weekend, but it sure wasn't worth all the function that was lost.
Thanks again!!
Its probably hardware but you might try clearing battery stats in recovery. That will probably not do anything but it won't hurt. For full functionality if you want something different try cm7 or the gb miui.

We have 2 DI2 - one has been running SR Zeus continuously (95% of the time) for 15+ months with no issues, with light usage & minimal mobile data/3G - get 3 days+ of standby as it's mostly on voice calls. Mine has been flashed with variety of Roms sourced from XDA, been running lately on HTCI2-MROM based on CM7, battery life is a notch better or equal to SK Zeus - otherwise, it runs on the following Stock Sense Rom, which has nice tweaks - very similiar and as good as Zeus, if not better. It has given me good battery / standby time - average of 2 to 3 days, 25 to 30 hours if I'm really pushing it (tethering, GPS, video streaming, etc.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1219471
What Recovery are you using - as others suggested, it could be hardware issues (loose connection/dropped or even (*gasp*) water-damaged pre-owned device that you are now holding, especially with a brand new/fresh battery & HTC's OEM batteries are very good, my old HTC Ozone running Windows 6 is still holding a great charge with its original battery after 4 years.
I would suggest letting the battery drain and fully charge it, go into Recovery & wipe battery stats and use it normally - let it run and stablize for 2 or 3 cycles with the new battery, and see how it go. Keep the "old" battery charged as a spare and carry it with you for the next few days so that you won't be holding a paperweight.
Assumed you are on the CDMA/Verizon side and not using GSM bands - are you using mostly WiFi or 3G, or a mix of both signals - as all of these do affect (depending on signal strength) your battery life, and that your PRL (*228 option 2) are updated on a regular basis. Running background Apps such as FB, Twitter, etc. also do affect how much usable time you get on a charge, as you know.
Have you tried fixing permissions? Could be the issue.
