[Q] mobile ap with out extra service change? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My samsung Galaxy S was dieing on me, so I opted for the Note II. But one feature that is missing from the Galaxy S is the Mobile AP (access point) which work with out any extra charge. With the Note II it seems that this is no longer the case, it wants me to use the T-Mobile hotspot which only works if I enable this service with my network (another 5 bucks a month).
Is there a work around if I root my phone?
if so, point me to it.
thanks.

The system they use to detect tethering might not be perfected, I got one of those messages while using the browser on my phone.
Interesting, I'm just not trying to take a a chance of being kicked out my contract and I be damned if I'm paying for it... Refuse to go back to sprint

Basically since they came out with the unlimited 4g plan they have started monitoring it closely. There is one way around it that works for a while and if you dont use alot of data they wont detect it. But if you stream alot of netflix and stuf they will figure it out. You have to usd chrome on your computer and then get an app from the chrome store called user agent spoofer it tbink I5 is called. Then you set your user agent to firefox 3 or 4 and you shkuld be good. Actually the best way to do it is to use the android user agent because then it cant tell that you are not using your phone. The problem roblem with 5hat is you lose flash and some other stuff
What does the message say so far this month I have used 6.6 gb and still have about 10 days left on my cycle and last month I used about 4.5 gb. Haven't got a message from them yet
Probably a better way to ensure they can't track you is to set up a VPN on your laptop or tablet, like using your work or school.
Route all traffic through there and T-Mobile should have no way to tell what you're doing. Assuming encryption.

People like you are the reason Unlimited data doesn't exist on most carriers any more, and the reason T-Mobile will probably yank ours before long. That's solid work, way to ruin it for everyone.

Claiming Samsung Galaxy Perks on a LTE Note 8.0?

I want to be able to claim the Samsung perks but it's not accepting my registration code. Apparently only the Wifi verion of this works, even though I purchased my note 8 in the USA no-term? Can this be skirted around or am I forced to rebuy a LTE-incapable note 8.0 for these perks.
Thanks for the help guys. I'm not pissed if it doesn't work, but it'd make my day ifthere was a workaround
EDIT: If it helps I've flashed my LTE note 8 (SGH-i467m)'s rom to the Wifi Note 8 (like SG-n5100 or something, I cant remember the exat model number), which disabled the LTE features in the process, so by all intents and purposes i am running a wifi Note 8.
Galaxy perks is only on 5110 models WIFI only.
AT&T does not have them. Thus your registration is different as well mainly due to the device being an SGH designation not a GT model.
The only perks worth having IMO are the $25 Google play credit.
Though, only a hand full of apps deserve payment. Too many have ads or just to wonky.

How to make Soft Card(ISIS) app work with Tmobile service on At&t Note 4 (Unlocked)

How to make Soft Card(ISIS) app work with Tmobile service on At&t Note 4 (Unlocked)
Hi
I have an At&t Samsung Note 4 which is unlocked. I recently switched to Tmobile service.
Basically I need couple of things to work mainly the ISIS one.
1) Soft card on this phone
2) Wifi calling - i think for this rooting is required..
Can anyone who did this before guide me?
If it is not possible I am inclining to sell the phone on ebay and get a tmobile phone.

Have you found any route yet in making t-mobile softcard work in your AT&T phone?
Use Google wallet, it's about the same as softcard, as far as WiFi calling you cannot use it on an att note 4 only t mobile and sprint offer wifi calling, att will in 2015 at some point, the stuff to do wifi calling is in the stock roms of the device

Google Wallet doesn't offer discounts/bonus that Softcard offers. My need is to find a way to make T-mobile Softcard work in a unlocked At&T device.

[Q] Trying to decide on which SM-T807

Tablet wise, I am coming from an iPad 3 AT&T LTE, but my phone is a T-Mobile Note 4 (and I have had the Note 3 and S3 and S4 previously). I am tired of constantly having to jailbreak my iPad to customize my tablet the way I want, and I think the Tab S 10.5 is the way to go (unless there is an even newer 2015 version coming out). I mostly use the iPad to read Reddit, web browse, read books and comics, listen to music, view my photography, and watch movies. The Tab S 10.5 should be able to handle all that nicely... plus have the added benefit of being able to run all the stuff on my phone.
Since I have an AT&T grandfathered tablet account, I have unlimited data for $30 a month. I can get their tablet http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/SM-T807AHAAATT and use it with or without wifi.
On the other hand, since I have a T-Mobile phone, I can get a 5GB a month data plan from T-Mobile for only $10 a month http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/SM-T807TTSATMB and then just make sure I pop on wifi when I am home (or use wireless tether on my phone).
So my question are:
1.) Are there any differences between the AT&T and the T-Mobile 8707 tablets? Both the carrier sites say they are Snapdragon chips (which I prefer), but after reading on the threads here, I think they are both Exynos.
2.) I have read on here that the AT&T is not rooted. Is that the same for T-Mobile version? Is there any chance of a root happening? I really want to root for backup purposes and to put a ROM in.
In my opinion, Samsung and the carriers have messed up the selling of these tablets. Samsung has too many version (Pro, Note 10.1, and Tab S 10.5) with different processors, confusing buyers. And the carriers having the wrong specs on their site doesn't help.

1.) I know that the AT&T has a locked bootloader so no root but I'm unsure about the T-Mobile version.
2.) If I were you I would buy the SM-T800 (WiFi Only) or SM-T805 (LTE) as they are rootable and there are ROMs for those two

My only options are the T800 or the T807. From what I understand T805 won't work on AT&T or T-Mobile.
But if I go with the T800, every time I want to go online with my tablet away from home, I will have to turn on tether mode on my phone, which sounds like a pain in my a$$.
Stick with Apple, Samsung quality control is just bad

Simple Frustrated Noob Question for SM-G960U on AT&T v. 10 Andoid

I've had a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Unlocked for a few years now, I can't remember what I did to it, for some reason I remember doing nothing, because occasionally I still do updates, but my Wifi Hotspot feature is functional.
I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S9, SM-G960U in the hopes that I could have a functional working phone, on the AT&T network which is the only carrier that seems to work out in the country where I am. And WiFi hotspot to be able to use it with my home computer without paying AT&T any more for their BS hotspot feature enablement. I am grandfathered on an unlimited data plan from Cingular Wireless era.
Basically, I just want the phone to work, nothing special, all features and functions, but I want to be able to use the mobile hotspot.
I powered on the phone, put in my SIM, says the software is current, Mobile Hotspot is greyed out and wants me to pay......I remember being down this road before....
I've spent the last 4 hours scrolling posts, trying workarounds, fixes, etc, to no avail.
Do I need to ?
A. Follow the root instructions, and muddle my way through them, hopefully not bricking this new phone and returning it in order to root it, and that will give me what I want?
B. Follow the root instructions, install some new OS, but lose features (80% battery max....no front camera... no future updates...), but get wifi hotspot?
C. Give up on this phone completely, return it, and buy something different that gives me the features and functionality I want without the hassle? (I'm not married to samsung phones, they've just been good for 4+ years each, good battery life and longevity, etc)? (btw I just tried, and returned a Motorola Z3 Play for the same reasons...it looked even harder in the forums than this)?
