Hi guys . I switch roms alot but encountered an issue today.today I flashed jellybam 5.1 and did the backup and wipe normaly.after the installation the rom works but my memory card is shown corrupted..I tried reflashing to CRASH rom and same case there as well.my ext sd is only showing in CWM and all data is intact.i tried plugging the ext sd to PC via card reader and usb both and it tells me to format the memory card.its a 64gb san disk and is filled with data.any ideas on how I can recover or transfer the data within CWM from external to internal sd ?
Aokp and aosp only see fat32 format from my knowledge. Yours is exfat. Format it to fat32 or change your rom to samsung based.

Thanks for replying and no that is not the case because i was using CRASH , OMEGA and [email protected] note Roms with Redpill without any issues with the card earlier, i flashed back to them and still the card was showing corrupted...weird part was that only CWM was reading the card properly not the Roms neither my computer....anyhow i recovered most of data with Aidfile recovery and re-formated.Now il just spend hours copying data back to the card
Aokp and Aosp tend to do that to exfat. They don't do well with eachother.
As I said they only support fat32. That is why it got corrupted.
If you want to use them just format to FAT.

Hm. if im not wrong im pretty sure that His rom converts it to a different format... so put ur sd card stuff in ur internal storage or your computer and then insert your sd card go to settings and storage it should say mount sd card and it should connect to it so the phone can understand it. theres an option to format the sd card i recommend just doing that since your data from ur sd is saved somewhere else and tada! you formated your micro sd card
Yeah I think. That might. Work because I just got a new 32 gig sd card and with that apps tosd hack I formatted it because it is kinda annoying that all that data goes to a fake internal with the nice hack but everything is on card ill just start fresh without format like with the old card thanks it worked fine before I formatted the card on high on androud rom great rom for the moment looking for a good touchwiz rom.

I recently bought a 64GB SanDisk Ultra MicroSDXC card and right after I got it, I started to play around with it.
Like I knew, stock-CM10.1 doesn't support exFat, but I decided to just plug the card in and watch if the phone would suggest me to format it to compatible format. But nothing happened. So I went to Settings->Storage, and boom, force close.
I thought that maybe it was just impossible to format the card on android, so I formatted it on Windows (to fat32) but no luck. Still fc when I try to go to Storage Settings.
Next thing I tried was recovery-mode:
-fat32 in koush's touch recovery -> cannot mount external_sd
-exFat in PhilZ's "exFat compatible recovery" -> the same thing
Then I really began to think that this whole damn card wasn't supported at all. So I tried one more time.
Clean CM10.1 flash, a try with fat32 and exFat, and after that (and after 0 successful attemps) those both formats one at a time with RedPill kernel.
And nothing worked.
But one of my attempts was not very far from success: when I was on stock fresh CM10.1, I also tried Paragon's app for mounting NTFS-partition and it actually worked. The app itself confirmed that "partition was mounted and it was nearly 60GB large". But in settings and in file managers the card wasn't recognized.
The second odd thing that I noticed (actually because of a half-accident) was that if I formatted the card to fat32 BUT set the size of the partition to exactly 32GB the card was up and running perfectly.
So my questions are:
Is there someone who has 64GB sdcard working perfectly on AOSP rom? And if yes, what is your setup?
Is it some kind of bug in CM10.1/even in all AOSP-roms out there that cards over 32 gigs don't show up at all? And if it is just a bug can we expect it to be fixed in near future?
Or is Touchwiz based rom the only solution?
And if someone is asking what software I used to format the card on Windows I tried:
- fat32format
- HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool
- EASEUS Partition Master
- and of course stock Windows' format tool
And what formats I tried:
- fat32
- exFat
- NTFS
- ext4
Thanks in advance
I have the same sd card working on tw and aosp. I had to plug it into the computer and google formatting exfat 64 micro sd cards and youll find an app online. Download it to your comp and itll guide you through the rest. 10mins at max is all it should take. Hope it helps

Do you remember what aosp roms/kernels have you used while the card has been working as it should?
And do you have any clue what was that app you used to format your card?

I'll get on my computer tomorrow and tell you. But as far as ROMs and kernels, since I formatted my SD card to fat32 I use it for both tw and aosp roms from miui, to aokp, jellybam and all tw ROMs. Once your formatted properly it'll work for any ROM and kernel

Okay, good, thanks
EDIT:
Thank god, I got it working. When I downloaded and installed MiniTool Partition Wizard to my computer I noticed that somehow the whole partition of the sd card was changed to logical instead of primary. I simply formatted it to primary fat32 partition and now it works, finally.
And last but not least I have to say a big thank you.
I've ran into a problem where my apps aren't seeing my SD card. If I go into storage under settings it see it and can tell me how big it is and how much space is available but my apps don't see it. A file manager can see it and even move files to and from it but my regualr apps cant. Like my camera says no external storage available.
I've tried formatting it in different ways NTFS, exFAT, FAT32 with a couple different allocation sizes but nothing seems to fix it.

Your card has to be fat or fat32. Your card also has to have 50-100mbs left on it also or you will get that no external space or running low using camera. As far as other apps they use the internal sd for storage. Have you tried reformatting it using cwm recovery? It will format the sd or ex sd for you as well. Just some thoughts but you do have a strange issue. If it doesn't work out you might wanna try reflashing your rom to see if that works becsuse it sounds like something is corrrupted somewhere.

Thanks for the reply. Its in fat32. I have tried to format from cwm but it doesn't help. How do I reflash a ROM without my SD card though?

Running HOT: [ROM][OFFICIAL][4.3][9AUG]ParanoidAndroid 3.95 for AT&T Note 2 | Hello H
Just installed the latest paranoid android 8/8 build (I.e. andorid 4.3) on my att sgh-i317...first time user of non touchwiz ROM...my note 2 sometimes get stuck at full throttle (all 4 cores running at 1600mhz just browsing the web) while using this custom rom. Has anyone else had the same problem? Also upon installation it corrupted my external SD card (now shows up as damaged)...any ideas how to repair this? Also how do I know if LTE is running as opposed to HSDPA (getting only 12 meg down in speed test on att network)?
The max CPU ISSUE is well documented throughout the section. ..And a search will yield the fixes. ..
The most common fix is no data restoration. ..And no apps that control the CPU beyond the on board control built into the rom...
Neak kernel has this issue fixed to my knowledge. ..
Regarding the SD card. ..
Try a format to FAT32 using a PC card adapter. ..and see if a repair can be effected. .
If the PC can't see the card or says "damaged"...You may have truly lost it...g

Thanks gregsarg for your thoughtful reply. Regarding the SD card I discovered through trial and error that the latest version of paranoid android 3.95 (I.e. android 4.3) will actually corrupt your sdcard if it was previously formated exfat. I tried formating the sdcard on my PC with exfat and twrp sees it fine... The moment I boot android and it attempts to mount exfat, it corrupts the SD card beyond repair. What are people using as file system for their external SD card on paranoid android. I tried formating to ext4 and it wouldn't recognize it either. The os seems to only recognize fat32 but I hate it due to the 4gb file limitation.

FAT32 is the only option to my knowledge. ..
And although it's a severe limitation. ..it's really all you can do if running the combination you have. ..g

Converted to cm 10.2 which is working fine now with exfat. For anyone with trouble with pa, I would recommend switching to cm.

Hi folks I'm new here so go easy on me
I recently installed CyanogenMod via the installer but I mid the s-pen functions more than I anticipated so I have been looking at the different ROMs on here and decided to try Phoenix ROM. when I downloaded the ROM and super clean as described in the instructions I placed them both on my ext SD card but I can't flash from ext SD via Phil's cwm as it doesn't find the SD card it says its not mounted. Is it OK to place the 2 files on my phone root directory to flash from there or will super clean wipe them from there too before I can flash the ROM.
Thanks in advance

what is your SD card ?
64 GB ?
2nd...
if you use a super clean wipe Zootscript Megawipe to clean, yes it will erase your internal USB storage.

Its a 8gb card I've got a 32gb one coming in the post but I'll have to wait a day or two for it. I know the card is working fine as I can transfer stuff to and from it but when I try to access it from recovery is keeps saying there's no card mounted

switch off and remove battery and place the ext sd and boot up and see if it detects on phone now proceed to recovery and wipe there u can even find a ption to mount internal storage so after the wipe u can place your file to internal sd but before doing anything just verify if the mount is working and if the ext sd has detected or not
Tried that but no success still says unable to mount path no matter what I try to do withe the external SD it works fine from the phone just not during recovery. Could it be a bug in cm 10.2
How do I get the ROM to the internal SD if I mount it with recovery can I connect it to my laptop and transfer of over from it.

I've tried formating the SD card to fat32 and flashed the latest cwm recovery and still no joy with being able to use the external SD to flash from. So if I do the super wipe how do I get the zip file for Phoenix ROM or any other ROM for that matter onto the phone to flash it
well, i am not sure it will work or not,
but have you try with OTG cable + thumbsdriver/ pen driver with the rom in it to connected to your phone to flash in recovery ?
if this dont work, probably u will need a brand new memory card for sure
Well i finally got it sorted i flashed the latest cwm recovery again using the internal memory and it worked i can now access the external sd card from recovery so im now running phoeniX v14 and sofar im impressed and glad to have s-pen functionality back again
