[Q] Ultra low speed charge without samsung original usb cable - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone knows why?
I lost my original samsung cable in a travel and now with every new cable I try it the devices charges at slow pace, about 12/20% hour.
What's different in the samsung one? Where I could buy fast charge cables?

[Q] Genuine charger for Note II / Slow Charging

Have noticed that the output on the Note II charger is higher than it was on my S3. Does anyone know where I can get another genuine one or equivalent travel one with the same output. Have used my friend Google but no luck.
Also, can a usb cable also affect the charging rate. e.g. I am currently charging my Note II in work with the original charger part but different usb cable and is only on 70% after 3 hours where as at home with rthe genuine usb and charger part it would be fully charged by now
Here is a 2 amp car charger which would charge your phone in roughly an hour and a half (3.1A/2A).

Charging problems with official extended Battery

Hi guys can't find an exact answer in search, I have a galaxy s3 i9305 but I'm assuming that part doesn't matter, just got the genuine samsung 3000mah battery and its taking 8 hours to charge on both stock rom and sentinel rom, using a non samsung cable and a 10v iphone mains plug with genuine samsung dock I'm getting 300ma using the App Store app to monitor, if I remove dock it goes to 500ma which is weird and I want to keep dock, if I use genuine samsung cable i ordered online as I don't have the original it charges at just 100ma so anyone a clue whats going on and what do I need to get the full 1000ma and charge in like 4 - 5 hours? I expected more charge time with the bigger battery but not double, please help.
Thanks
Tony
Not one person got the extended battery from Samsung and having slow charging? Just tried another cable and got 900ma without dock and 300 with so why's it so low with dock?

Beware of USB cable and charger

I thought I had a bad ROM, but apparently it was a bad cable. And it seems as though the geniune cable does a "bit" more.
I didn't even think there would be a difference in between my Samsung Galaxy S3 cable and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 cable, but there is.
I've been using an app call Galaxy Current Lite to see why it's been taking 8 hours to charge from 4%-100%. I have used the original charger cable that came with my Note 8.0 as well as the original set that came with my SGS3. Both yield the same result. Galaxy Current Lite showed max 500ma was going through.
After being frustrated I took my Note 8.0 to a store with another Note 8.0 store display, plugged it in and check it with Galaxy Current app... load and behold it was getting 1800ma.
So apparently the cable does make a difference. So I went to buy the geniune Samsung travel kit, while I deal with warranty replacement from Samsung tomorrow. I also found out that using a cable that is for Note 8.0 via my SGS3 or Apple AC to USB also gave a 1100ma and 900ma respectively.
So if you are having issues SLOW charging... grab the app and check. It could be the cable. And if it is... DO NOT GET A GENERIC. I tried a generic charging ONLY cable with the original Samsung charger it yield 468ma
Hope this will help others

Let me first confirm this and also post some of my findings in the past.
I have 3 samsung oem ones all having issues and then a generic and another from a nokia and they are the ones I've been using as they are shorter + thicker and give me 1800 ma constantly. I don't have any issues with generic ones as long as you use original charger.
When my note 8 went to service center for mother board and screen replacement (liquid damage), I confirmed with tech if there was something special inside the samsung cable, and was told that though he cannot disclose that, but even if there was, it's not related to charging, told me to just use any good/decent quality cable.
The Nokia one I have is CA-101D and it's extremely short in length (few inches) but good enough for unattended charging on table.
Apart from galaxy current like, one can also use battery monitor widget and in it's settings set measuring method to samsung one and it will also start showing what current you are getting as well as track charge/drain cycles.
I purposely use a 0.7A to charge my Note 8 overnight..

Genuine or not is not the point. One should use a cable designed to carry the needed current. Some cables are designed to carry only 500mA or 1A, especially in the old days. Nowadays with the power hungry smart phones/tablets, you would want to use a cable that can carry at least 2A or even 3A. If you are not looking specifically for these spec and grab just any USB cable randomly, chances are you would be limiting the current. Certainly the Samsung cable that comes with your device would supply sufficient current. But if you don't feel like traveling with a dedicated cable for each one of your devices, just buy a 3A rated cable, it would work across all of your devices. A 3A cable would be future proof for a while.

I tried some current apps, and found them to drain my battery, so be careful.
I used 2 meter Sony, BlackBerry, no name brands, and a case logic 10 footer. All did very well with high current charging.
The OEM Samsung almost killed my Note 8.0 by fire! After a few months the thin wires shorted out at the micro usb plug, and super heated. Won't use Samsung cables anymore.
My issue is plug life, micro usb sux big time for plug in design. No wonder USB3 has become a popular change to manufacturers of chargeable devices.

[Q] What is the maximum mA can the mini handle when charging?

Hi guys,
I've noticed that my galaxy s4 mini 3g comes with a 1000 mA (1A) charger and it charges at a very good speed compared to when I plug it to an ordinairy USB port (500mA only I believe) on the desktop.
It gets warm after a while while charging using the official samsung wall charger (1A)
I plugged it in my battery bank where the output is said to be 1500 mA and it charged up much faster but gets a little more warmer in the back.
I have an ipad charger here rated for 2.1A but I haven't tried it yet..
I want to find the fastest but also a safe way to charge my phone in order for the battery life to become longer before I need to buy a new one. So I want to ask you guys here in the forum what chargers do you use?
A good read that made more familiar with charging via USB:
http://www.extremetech.com/computing/159727-how-to-charge-your-smartphone-and-other-usb-devices-as-quickly-as-possible
For the battery life to remain long you should stick with lower amperages. The 1A charger should do you fine. USB ports are typically 0.5A, unless its a USB3 port which gives more amperage I think.
I've used a Mega 6.3 charger on the S4 mini before (2A).

[Q] Can I charge S4 mini with Tab 3 Charger?

Hi.
I have Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 and Galaxy S4 mini, and
I was wondering, can I cross use chargers of these two devices?
Both are 5.0Volt of course, but Mini's charger is 1.0Amp and Tab3's charger is 2.0Amp.
So, can I charge Mini with Tab3 charger?
I have understand, that if I charge Tab3 with Mini's charger, Amps are too low and charging is very slow.
But will Amps be too high to Mini if I charge with 2.0A charger? And what could happend to battery?
Thanks.

voltage is the only important bit ... 2amps will charge alot faster but MAYBE u will lose battery quickly ... but try
It's no problem

Hey.
I charged S4 mini with Tab 3 charger without any problems and quite fast as well,
but after my phone was fully charged I noticed that it drains battery very fast, even in idle.
If I charge S4 mini with original charger, battery will last much better.
It normally drains about <1% /hour or so (idle), but when charged full with tablet charger it
drains about 1%/5-10minutes (this was on regular use) or something like that. Much faster though.
So I think, I just use original chargers with my devices.
Another thing that I'm wondering is that my Tab 3 charges very slowly from time to time.
Sometimes it charges at normal speed and then the charger feels much warmer than time it charge slow.
I dont know if Galaxy Charging Current Lite (app) shows correct readings on my tab, but
normal charging (warm charger) readings are 1600-1800(amps?) and other times,
when charging slowly, readings are about 200-600(amps?)
I have tested with different USB cables, with same results. So is this normal (I think not), or is my charger broken?
